Trump needs the Alaska meeting to distract attention from the failures of his administration. Russia agreed to the summit for a reason – it may not be about Ukraine, but about a larger and longer-term cooperation with the United States.
This was stated to PolitNavigator by Russian State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev.
