Smirking psycho films himself throwing lit fireworks into crowded bar in notoriously rough Dem-run city
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A man who was filmed smiling and laughing as he lit and chucked large fireworks at multiple crowds of people in St. Louis is being investigated for bombing and arson after he proudly posted the video to social media.

The suspect, who appeared in the clip titled STL BOMBER, is seen lighting the fireworks and lobbing them at unsuspecting people gathered on at outdoor patio and on the street over the Fourth of July weekend.

He was also filmed tossing a firework from a moving car into a busy intersection.

The camera captured each of the explosions, with the targets of his dangerous antics screaming and fleeing in terror.

The unidentified bomber was accompanied by what appeared to be at least three accomplices who delighted in the attacks.

The video opens with the man standing outside The Wheelhouse in Downtown St. Louis nervously bouncing while an accomplice yelled: 'He's not going to do that!'

Moments later, he is seen holding a firework in his hand and lighting it before throwing it at a crowd of people on the outdoor patio.

'We're going f**king viral!' he tells the camera with a grin on his face.

McDonald's employee accused of fatally st*bbing manager after she was sent home early; Armed Customer Stopped The Attack
[X]

The Daily Mail has considerably more here, including photos of both parties.
A McDonald's employee posted an unhinged Instagram rant accusing her manager of bullying her a day before she stabbed her to death.
Upset yes, but not unhinged, it seems to me.
Afeni Muhammad, 26, stabbed her manager Jennifer 'Jamma' Harris at least 15 times at the Detroit area McDonald's on Thursday after she was sent home over her performance.

Just a day before, Muhammad had taken to social media to express her rage at being sent home early two days in a row.

'I got sent home early yesterday. I got sent home early today by the same person,' Muhammad said in the Instagram reel.

'I'm telling you, she's a bully. This sh** isn't funny... She needs to understand that just because she's a mother and got children, that doesn't mean she can come in the store disrespecting people, talking like everybody is beneath her. She has no respect and it isn't funny at all.'

Muhammad's alleged victim, who had worked at the McDonald's for 15 years, was a single mother of six.

Harris apparently sent Muhammad home again after an argument on Thursday.

Police say Muhammad told Harris 'I'll be back,' before she went to her car and retrieved a kitchen knife.

When she came back into the restaurant, she was wearing a mask, according to witnesses.

A drive-thru customer saw the attack and fired a shot in the air to try to stop it, police said.

Muhammad reportedly tried fleeing but was detained by the customer before she was arrested by the Eastpointe Police Department.

The alleged killer was arraigned Friday and is being held on a $25 million bond.

She is charged with first-degree murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent.

Muhammad's lawyer said she is a high school graduate who is taking online classes for physical therapy.

Muhammad is an aspiring rapper and uses the name 'Risen Phoenix' online.

Prosecutors said Monday she was previously convicted of stabbing someone in another state.

Andrea Russo successfully tests new jet engine suicide technique at Milan Bergamo Airport
[MAIL] This is the horrific moment a man took his own life by jumping into a plane's jet engine.

Andrea Russo, 35, from Calcinate near Bergamo, who was not a passenger or staff member at Milan Bergamo Airport, entered the terminal in his red Fiat 500 car before abandoning the vehicle and running into the building on Tuesday morning.

Russo arrived at the airport without a ticket and made his way to a restricted area leading to the runway before two Border Police on duty attempted to stop him.

He managed to free himself from the officers before running on to the tarmac and 'throwing himself into one of the two turbofans' on the Volotea Airbus A319 flight V73511 from Milan to Asturias.

New footage showed the moment he took his own life. Russo was seen jogging towards the plane's starboard side, and jumping at the side of the jet engine.

Failing to gain purchase, he fell backwards and quickly got up as ground staff chased him.

He appeared to take a wide berth of the front of the starboard engine, but was seen taking a running leap towards the port side engine.

As he jumped into the engine's blades, ground staff were seen holding their heads in horror.

Having seen the aftermath such an accident many years ago.
(Civ work on DOD bases 1985-1996)

SPEC's
On a large Jet Engine, at full power, the intake can be 100,000+ cubic feet of air per second. That's about 50+ 1500sq/ft 3.2b Homes a second.

This generates a typical intake airflow of around 300+/- mph.

If the jet was throttling for movement. Then, intake speeds could reach 500 mph and over 100k C/F.

Mexico's President Claims U.S. is Exaggerating After Border Closed to Livestock Over Screwworm Spread
[Breitbart] Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, criticized the U.S. government after the American Secretary of Agriculture announced the closure of the border to cattle from Mexico. The secretary ordered the closure due to the ongoing spread of the deadly New World Screwworm, a plague that can be fatal to humans.

“From our viewpoint, she took a totally exaggerated decision to shut down the border again,” Sheinbaum said during her morning news conference.

Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced that, due to a new case of screwworm infection discovered just 350 miles south of the U.S.-Mexico border, she had ordered all livestock crossings from Mexico to be halted.

The move was done to “quarantine and target this deadly pest in Mexico,” Rollins said in a prepared statement. “We must see additional progress combating NWS (New World Screwworm) in Veracruz and other nearby Mexican states in order to reopen livestock ports along the Southern border.”

In their notice of the border closure, Rollins claimed that the USDA was holding Mexico accountable by ensuring that proactive measures were being taken to stop the spread of the screwworm.

The U.S. government had first halted livestock imports in May 2025 but was in the process of reopening trade when it discovered the new case, 160 miles north of an area that was meant to be a buffer zone, where health officials were releasing sterile flies aimed at stopping the spread. The plague is spread through flies and can be deadly to humans.

In her conference, Sheinbaum claimed that officials in Mexico were doing everything “scientifically possible” to stop the spread.

Historically, with the help of the U.S. government, Mexico had managed to eradicate screwworm in the 1990s, with the last outbreak occurring in 1993. However, due to widespread corruption by Mexican officials who allowed cattle from contaminated areas to be smuggled through Mexico’s southern border, U.S. authorities sounded the alarm in November 2024 and began urging Mexico to take steps to stop it.

The most well-paid engineer in the world? Meta poaches AI researcher from rival with $200 million pay offer
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] In the battle for AI supremacy, Meta has just made a major move.

Mark Zuckerberg's firm – which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp – has lured a renowned AI expert away from rival Apple with an eye-watering pay offer.

And it's an amount that the majority of us can only dream of.

Over the next 'several years', Ruoming Pang, originally from China, will earn more than $200 million (£147 million) in his new role, a report reveals.

The 'unusually high' earnings package is among the highest of any corporate job, including CEO roles at the world’s major banks, the report adds.

Mr Pang becomes a high-ranking member of Meta's mysterious new 'superintelligence' lab, thought to be based in California.

The secretive department is developing smarter-than-human AI in an attempt to get ahead in the AI race.

And its already packed with former employees from ChatGPT creator OpenAI.

According to the new report from Bloomberg, Ruoming Pang gets the $200 million compensation package over a 'several-year period'.

Reportedly, the figure significantly exceeds the compensation of all Apple employees, apart from CEO Tim Cook, who is top dog at the tech giant.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Apple did not try to match the offer to retain Mr Pang, even though he was head of a team dedicated to Apple’s AI models.

The report cited 'people with knowledge of the matter' who declined to be named while discussing unannounced compensation details.

Treasury Posts Unexpected Surplus for June, Thanks to Tariff
[RedState] Well, this was unexpected, but it's good news all the same. The monthly federal Treasury Report for June showed us something we're not used to seeing: A surplus. Oh, we're still in the red for the fiscal year, but this is a welcome step in the right direction and much of the surplus for that one month was due to tariffs.

As someone who appreciates the art of propaganda, that is well worded subtle negative weight against Tariffs/Trump. Basically, "why you should worry about improving conditions."

American Economic Optimism Rises to Highest Levels in Years
[Breitbart] You would never know it scrolling through the gloomy headlines of the financial press or listening to the nabobs natter negatively on the business television channels. Even the better-than-expected news on the labor market released last week was presented as not really all that good, with liberal analysts and pundits somehow complaining with a straight face that there were too many government jobs cluttering up the employment report. More jobs going to Americans than foreigners? They’re calling that a labor shortage. Any good news is transitory or illusory or merely a headfake.

In a way, it is the photographic negative of the vibecession narrative pushed relentlessly during the Biden administration. The cable networks and financial news outlets insisted that the economy was much better under Joe Biden than the public was willing to admit. People were not happy about the economy because of the "vibes" rather than any actual facts about the economy, the story went.

If the vibecession ever existed, it is now definitively over. The latest polling shows that Americans are now feeling good vibrations about the U.S. economy. Civiqs, a daily online tracking poll that measures public opinion with demographic weighting and trend smoothing, is showing some of the best numbers in years.

MORE PEOPLE ARE HAPPIER ABOUT THEIR FAMILY FINANCES AND THE NATIONAL ECONOMY
Let’s start with the question of personal finances. When asked how a family’s financial situation has developed over the last year, 19 percent say it has gotten better. While that’s not overwhelmingly positive, it is the highest share saying things have improved since 2021. In other words, Americans haven’t felt this much improvement since we were coming out of the pandemic.

Europe
Paradoxical alliance: Erdogan's friend and the gypsies' friend subjugate Bulgaria
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Igor Ivanenko

[REGNUM] No sooner had the EU structures managed to suppress the “sovereignist rebellion” in Romania than they were faced with the prospect of losing absolute control over the policies of neighboring Bulgaria.

Moreover, it would seem that today Sofia is experiencing the apogee of European integration.

This year, Bulgaria became a full member of the Schengen Agreement, and the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov, formed several months ago, despite all the intrigues of the opposition, is confidently leading the country to enter the “euro zone”.

On July 11, the republic's parliament unsuccessfully considered the fourth vote of no confidence in the cabinet of ministers in six months; a fifth is expected in September, but its prospects are also illusory.

And this is despite the fact that Zhelezyakov heads a “minority government” that officially relies on three parliamentary factions out of nine. They have only 102 parliamentary mandates out of 240 at their disposal.

The tenacity of the current, at first glance rather flimsy, cabinet of ministers is explained by the fact that it managed to link its own future with the prospect of Bulgaria introducing the euro. They say that if Zhelezyakov's team does not hold out, then the country's accession to the European monetary union will be postponed for at least several years.

In this case, the Bulgarian ruling elites managed to take advantage of the weakened state of the EU itself.

The crisis of legitimacy of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the almost open conflict of the Brussels bureaucracy with the Donald Trump administration, the strengthening of the intra-European front – Hungary and Slovakia, the gravitation of Romania and Poland towards it – all this has raised the price of Bulgarian loyalty to the EU institutions.

Taking advantage of the EU leadership's clear request to maintain a positive integration agenda, Bulgaria was able to win approval for the introduction of the euro. Moreover, this happened despite the fact that the country does not meet the requirements for the introduction of the euro currency in terms of key macroeconomic indicators.

Critics of this controversial move point to Bulgarian inflation being beyond EU standards. But does that matter when von der Leyen, who has suffered painful criticism for Pfizergate and her reckless support for Ukraine, needs a big PR victory?

The main sacrifice that ordinary Bulgarians are already forced to pay for their country's entry into the eurozone is the regime of austerity in social spending. This has hit the pro-European government hard in popularity. It needed a strong backing to keep it in parliament.

The paradox is that this has become the political force that is considered not to meet the standards of European democracy. We are talking about the party "Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning" headed by the oligarch Delyan Peevski.

It is one of two groups into which the pro-Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) split last year.

The part of the movement that is focused on the votes of Bulgarian citizens living in Turkey remained with the long-time leader of the DPS, Ahmed Dogan (also accused of corruption by European politicians).

Peevsky relies mainly on the ethno-religious minorities in Bulgaria itself - Turks, Muslim Bulgarians and Roma.

In the last parliamentary elections, in the fall of 2024, about 25% of those who voted for Peevski's political force were Roma. This gave the politician's opponents grounds to accuse him of bribing voters, since Roma usually do not show much interest in political life.

But, of course, Peevsky ended up on the notorious “Magnitsky list” in the US for much more obvious offenses involving the misappropriation of public funds, abuse of state property, and similar actions.

If New Beginning had not supported the ruling coalition during the third vote of no confidence earlier this month, there would have been "no government and no eurozone".

These words belong to the leader of the GERB party (Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria) Boyko Borisov, the former prime minister and de facto leader of the current pro-European parliamentary coalition. Along with GERB, it includes the Socialist Party and the populist movement "There is such a people".

Borisov is a patriarch of Bulgarian politics, whose first term as prime minister began in 2009, and for many years he skillfully maneuvered between different geopolitical centers.

For example, GERB, which is part of the European People's Party, contributed to the extension of the powers of the current head of the European Commission and her recent overcoming of a vote of no confidence. At the same time, in his home country, Borisov is considered to be perhaps the most pro-Turkish politician and a friend of Recep Erdogan.

In domestic Bulgarian politics, Borisov had to take into account for a long time the presence of other pro-European liberal parties, with which GERB was doomed to form government coalitions. For Brussels and the Democratic administration in the United States, this was very convenient, as it allowed them to keep the politicians in Sofia in check.

However, by taking advantage of the upheavals in the Euro-Atlanticist camp at the beginning of 2025, Borisov was able to avoid creating a traditional alliance with the left-liberal and American Democrat-oriented Continue Changes (CC) party.

In Brussels, the collapse of the "democratic coalition" caused undisguised irritation. But the EU leadership could not react harshly to this in the context of the emerging confrontation with the Republican administration of the United States.

Moreover, Borisov also took out insurance.

On the one hand, the government of his party comrade Zhelezjakov proclaimed a course towards the eurozone, and on the other, an informal alliance with the DPS-NN emerged.

In essence, the emergence of the Borisov-Peevsky bi-umvirate is evident in Bulgaria.

During the upcoming presidential elections in a year and the very likely early parliamentary elections, this alliance could be formalized: Borisov as head of state, Peevsky as head of government.

Recent party popularity surveys show that GERB has a support level of 24.5%, while DPS-NN is in second place with 15.7%. Third place belongs to the opposition bloc "Continue Changes - Democratic Bulgaria" (14.2%).

The absorption of the latter will probably be the main element in achieving a confident victory for Borisov, GERB and DPS-NN in the upcoming elections.

A week ago, the PP was effectively decapitated, as a corruption scandal forced the left-liberal party's leader, Harvard graduate Kiril Petkov, to resign.

On July 9, Petkov's associate, the mayor of Varna, Bulgaria's third city, Blagomir Kotsev, was taken into custody on suspicion of corruption High-ranking officials from the capital's mayor's office, where the PP also has strong positions, are also under investigation.

Associates of the persecuted officials claim that their cases are politically motivated. They have attempted to organize protests in Sofia and Varna and have sought protection in Brussels.

The latter's reaction is a major political intrigue, since the monopolization of political power in Sofia poses a number of threats to him, but the disruption of the process of introducing the single European currency in Bulgaria is also fraught with serious costs.

A Giant Hole Just Opened in The Sun – And It's Blasting Earth With Solar Wind
[Science Alert] A giant hole has opened in the atmosphere of the Sun, and it's blasting out a high-speed wind that is directed right at Earth.

The incoming blast of solar particles is worth getting excited about: we're in for a moderate (G2) geomagnetic storm starting around Saturday June 14, according to the NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center.

A coronal hole is a region where the magnetic fields on the surface of the Sun weaken and open up. This allows the wind of charged particles that constantly gusts from the Sun out into the Solar System to escape more freely.

When it rushes past Earth, some of the particles become entangled in Earth's magnetic field, sometimes with stunning results.

The particles are whisked away on magnetic field lines to high latitudes, where they are dumped out into Earth's upper atmosphere. There, they interact with particles in the atmosphere to produce a dancing glow — the light of the auroras borealis and australis.

Japan Installs first Operating Micro Nuclear Reactor
[MINnews] It was jointly developed by a private consortium and the National Institute of Fusion Science of Japan, using molten salt cooling and ceramic-based low- enriched uranium fuel, integrating power generation, control, and heat dissipation, and packaged in a standard 40-foot container for easy transportation by truck or ship.

It is buried underground after being deployed on site, requiring no external operation, and can be called a "maintenance-free nuclear battery " version.

Design concept: small size, high energy, autonomous safety Traditional commercial nuclear power plants are large in size, have a long construction period, and are highly dependent on geology and water sources.

The "Armor" microreactor is 3 meters high, 4 meters wide, weighs less than 40 tons, has a thermal power of 1 megawatt, and can convert about 0.5 megawatts of electricity, continuously providing electricity for the town for decades.,
[granted that 500KW is only enough to serve a small say 500 population town - this is still a great achievement]
Its core and molten salt coolant are chemically stable, with low operating pressure, no active cooling circuit required, and can be passively shut down once the power is off, completely eliminating the risk of meltdown.

Japanese homes are usually pretty energy efficient (and small by western standards). The newer homes use split system AC and water heating, so no big motors. Gas stoves & ovens are typical.

So '500 population' should really say '500 homes'.
