Somalia: Grenade Attacks Target Southwest State Officials in Baidoa
[SHABELLEMEDIA] In a shocking turn of events on Sunday night, two residential homes in Baidoa, the interim administrative capital of the Southwest state, were attacked by unknown assailants.

The attacks involved the hurling of hand grenades at the residences of prominent Southwest state officials, causing a stir among residents and security agencies.

The first attack targeted the home of Kurow Amhar, a member of the Darwish army within the regional administration. Shortly after, a second grenade was thrown at the residence of Ilyas Ali Noor, the former Minister of Information of the Southwest administration, who currently serves as the director of the Tubsan Agency.

As of the latest reports, no group has stepped forward to claim responsibility for these attacks, leaving the motives behind the actions unclear.

The security agencies have not provided any information regarding the incidents, and no casualties have been reported in connection to the earth-shattering kabooms.

These attacks have raised concerns about the safety and security of officials within the Southwest state, prompting a call for increased vigilance and investigation into the matter.

Baidoa residents and officials alike are awaiting further details from the security agencies regarding the perpetrators and the reasons behind the attacks.

As the situation develops, it is crucial for the Southwest state’s security apparatus to take swift and decisive action to ensure the safety of its officials and citizens.

The lack of information and the absence of a claim of responsibility have only added to the uncertainty surrounding the events.

Khartoum curfew imposed amid security concerns
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Acting Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, issued an emergency order on Monday imposing a curfew across the state.

The curfew restricts the movement of people and vehicles from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM and bans all commercial activities and pedestrian movement from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the state government currently only controls Omdurman and Karari localities, operating from a temporary office north of Omdurman.

The order cites security concerns as justification for protecting citizens.

Experts have voiced alarm over the security situation in government-controlled areas of Khartoum and other Sudan

ese cities. They argue that the current measures are insufficient to address the wartime threats facing the country, and are calling for a more robust security approach.

Law enforcement can seize vehicles and arrest individuals suspected of violating the curfew, with searches of suspected premises authorized. Violators face penalties of up to six months in prison or a fine, with doubled penalties for repeat offences.

This curfew follows the state of emergency declared by Acting Governor Hamza on May 2nd. The state of emergency established a security cell and addressed concerns related to foreign nationals. Military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan approved the state of emergency.

RSF accused of running secret execution chambers in the Sudanese capital
[SUDANTRIBUNE] A disturbing investigation by Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
Tribune has uncovered evidence suggesting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been executing civilians by hanging inside secret execution chambers across the capital, Khartoum.

The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF has already witnessed countless civilian casualties. However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
the investigation reveals a new level of brutality — executions by hanging inside private residences across the capital.

Sudan Tribune obtained a video clip depicting professionally constructed gallows set up inside a house in Omdurman’s Wad al-Basir area. Additionally, a guillotine was discovered installed within the same building.

EYEWITNESS ACCOUNTS
Residents recently returned to areas previously controlled by the RSF have provided chilling accounts. They described an execution chamber in an apartment located on Wad al-Basir Street, a location reclaimed by the army in February.

Video clips of executions and ethnic cleansing committed by the fighting forces in Sudan are circulating on social media. These videos show cold-blooded executions of civilians in various regions, as confirmed by international reports and human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
organizations.

Activists told Sudan Tribune about the existence of at least 14 secret execution chambers established by the RSF in Khartoum, Bahri, and Omdurman. These facilities are allegedly overseen by officers who act as judges, issuing death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
s for civilians accused of collaborating with the army intelligence.

An activist in Khartoum Bahri documented the presence of six RSF execution rooms in a house on al-Inqaz Street, facing the Weta Factory. There are also two rooms in the Shambat al-Aradi neighbourhood, another in the al-Safia neighbourhood, and two rooms near the Parachute Regiment camp in the Hijra neighbourhood.

GUILLOTINE OF DEATH
Activists and residents in Omdurman, including those living on Wad al-Basir Street in the Wad Nubawi neighbourhood, confirmed the existence of an execution chamber used by the RSF. One resident described the setup: a steel beam near the ceiling, a steel stand in the middle, a strong rope attached to it, and a deep hole dug into the floor.

In the Umbada area, residents confirmed the existence of two execution rooms. Steel legs were found inside two houses, along with the remains of people who had been hanged. It was unclear whether the victims were soldiers or civilians.

The RSF has executed dozens of people by hanging in four neighbourhoods in Khartoum. Residents in al-Kalakla, south of Khartoum, confirmed executions in the al-Kalakla al-Qubba, al-Safa, and al-Kalakla al-Munawara neighbourhoods.

A resident of the al-Sajana neighbourhood mentioned in a telephone interview with Sudan Tribune that there are execution and torture rooms inside houses near the El-Alamein Sports Club. He confirmed that six people were executed there at varying intervals.

He also mentioned an execution guillotine set up on a tree inside one of the houses, visible from the outside. RSF Soldiers modified it multiple times and executed people at night.

He added that the bodies were transported to an unknown location, with soldiers dragging the bodies away before returning to the same house.

Despite the conflict entering its second year (since April 2023), the RSF retains control of Khartoum city, while the Sudanese army has recaptured Omdurman and significant portions of Khartoum Bahri.

Rwanda denies involvement in grenade attack blamed on Burundi rebels
[AFRICANEWS] Rwanda says it didn't arm rebels accused of a grenade attack, despite Burundi's accusations. Relations between the two countries remain tense.

"We call on Burundi to solve its own internal problems and not associate Rwanda with such despicable matters," government spokesperson Yolande Makolo said in a statement Sunday.

Burundi's interior ministry blamed the grenade attack on Friday that injured 38 people on RED-Tabara rebels and said the group was backed by Rwanda. The rebel group denied responsibility for the attack.

Relations between Rwanda and Burundi have deteriorated since early this year when Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye renewed accusations that Rwanda was funding and training the RED-Tabara rebels, who oppose the Burundi government.

Burundian authorities consider RED-Tabara a terrorist movement and accuse its members of being part of a failed coup attempt in 2015. The group first appeared in 2011 and has been accused of a string of attacks in Burundi since 2015.

In January, the Rwandan government accused Burundi of closing the border between the two countries, two weeks after an attack that Burundi said was carried out by the RED-Tabara group.

Protests against Saudi occupation continue in Aden
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Angry popular protests broke out on Sunday evening against the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in various areas of the city of Aden in southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
Angry protesters blocked the main streets in al-Mansoura area with burning tires and stones to protest the collapse of electricity services and the rise in prices due to the deterioration of the local currency, after the dollar exchange reached 1,700 riyals.

The demonstrators rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud demanding the departure of the coalition and its tools in reference to the "Presidential Leadership Council" and the STC from the city and all southern regions.

The participants in the angry demonstration denounced the increase in power outage hours to more than eight hours, considering the pro-coalition government’s presence to be "a disaster and a disgrace" to the people of Aden.

People in Sheikh Othman and Khor Maksar areas also erupted into the streets protesting against corruption, expressing discontent, and demanding the removal of corrupt officials.

Amsterdam University closed for 2 days after masked anti-Israel activists storm building in violent sit-in
[IsraelTimes] The University of Amsterdam says it will remain closed for two days, after police moved in to end an anti-Israel, pro-Paleostinian protest at one of its campuses earlier today.

The university’s board says it had cancelled all classes tomorrow and Wednesday and will close all buildings, as it says it cannot guarantee safety for those on campus.

The university has been the scene of violent mostly peaceful festivities between protesters and riot police three times in the past week, as activists who demand that the university cuts all ties with Israeli institutions blocked and occupied campuses.

Today’s protest started as a walk out by university staff and students in response to the violent mostly peaceful end to an occupation of a university building on Wednesday.

The university’s board says this protest was peaceful until a group of masked outsiders joined the original group and started blocking entrances and emergency exits, causing serious damage to the building and its library.

A spokesperson for the University of Amsterdam (UvA) confirms the occupation and says it advised people who are not affiliated with the protest to leave the building.

Videos posted on social media show students wearing keffiyeh scarves and holding anti-Israel signs, with some masked students barricading doors with furniture.

The Eindhoven University of Technology confirms that there are "dozens of students peacefully protesting outside next to ten to 15 tents."

The University of Groningen does not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Strip in recent days, the military announced Monday, as heavy fighting between troops and Hamas continued on Memorial Day in Israel.

vehicle came under fire in southern Gaza’s Rafah, killing a Paleostinian driver and wounding a UN worker, according to Paleostinian media reports. According to Israel’s Kan news, the incident took place near the Rafah Border Crossing.

It was unclear if Israeli forces or terror operatives shot up the UN car. The Israel Defense Forces said it was looking into the incident.

In Rafah, the IDF said that two soldiers of the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit were seriously maimed by mortars launched by Hamas. The terror group claimed to have targeted troops near the Rafah Crossing with Egypt, which was captured by the IDF last week.

Another six troops were moderately hurt in the same incident.

A Defense Ministry contractor was seriously hurt and another two employees were lightly hurt in another incident in southern Gaza, the military added.

The IDF also reported that on Sunday night, a soldier of the Givati Brigade’s Rotem Battalion was seriously maimed during a shootout with operatives in the northern Gaza Strip.

Separately, the IDF said two troops of the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion were seriously maimed in an "operational accident" on the Gaza border, near the border community of Nir Am.

the Israeli Air Force struck more than 120 targets across Gaza over the past day, the military said Monday, as ground forces continued to operate in three locations in the Strip.

The 162nd Division was battling Hamas in eastern Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, including on the Paleostinian side of the border crossing with Egypt.

The IDF said the division’s Givati Infantry Brigade raided Hamas sites in the area, killing button men and locating weapons and rocket launchers in the process; and the 401st Armored Brigade raided and destroyed additional sites, and seized weapons found at a school.

Some 360,000 Gazooks have fled the southern city of Rafah since Israel began ordering evacuations from a section of the city last week, according to UNRWA, the main United Nations aid agency in Gaza.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke...
the IDF’s 98th Division was operating in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya, after the military said it identified Hamas forces regrouping there.

The division’s 7th Armored Brigade and 460th Armored Brigade killed several button men during battles in the area, while the IAF struck several Hamas targets, including underground sites and a building where operatives were gathered, the IDF said.

Israeli tanks, under cover of heavy fire from air and ground, pushed further into Jabaliya in northern Gaza on Monday, residents and Hamas media said.

Tanks were advancing toward the heart of the camp, the largest of Gaza’s eight historic so-called refugee camps, locals said (these are not camps of refugees of the current war, but towns that have existed for decades). Residents said tank shells landed at the center of the camp and that airstrikes destroyed clusters of houses.

The military on Sunday said it had launched a new offensive against Hamas in Jabaliya, after identifying terror operatives regrouping there. A day earlier, the IDF issued an evacuation warning for Jabaliya, where it estimated 100,000-150,000 Paleostinians were sheltering.

Residents and medics claim several people were killed and maimed in a series of airstrikes on the camp overnight. The corpse counts reported by Hamas officials could not be verified.

The IDF’s 99th Division was meanwhile operating in Gaza City’s Zeitoun, similarly after the IDF identified Hamas forces regrouping there.

The IDF said the division’s Multi-Domain Unit raided a weapons depot at the home of a Hamas operative in Zeitoun, and directed an airstrike against a sniper in the area.

The fighting in Gaza on Monday came as Israel marked Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror. Since last year’s Memorial Day, 1,600 soldiers and civilians have been killed in combat or by terror, according to figures released by authorities. Some 1,200 of those were killed during Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel.

Also Monday, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza claimed that the Paleostinian territory’s health system was "hours away" from collapse, after fighting blocked fuel shipments through key crossings.

"We are just hours away from the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip due to the lack of the necessary fuel to operate generators in hospitals, ambulances, and [for vehicles to] transport staff," the ministry said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories said Sunday night that it had coordinated the transfer of 266,000 liters (70,000 gallons) of fuel for use in hospitals or other humanitarian needs.

The war in Gaza erupted after Hamas’s October 7 attacks, which saw some 3,000 bandidos bandidos bad boys burst across the border into Israel by land, air and sea, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 252 hostages amid acts of brutality and sexual assault.

Israel has said it has killed some 15,000 terror operatives in Gaza, in addition to some 1,000 bandidos bandidos bad boys inside Israel on October 7, while 272 soldiers have been killed during the ground offensive against Hamas and in the course of operations along the Gaza border.

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. struck Monday an area near Beit Hillel in northern Israel, Israeli media said.

Hezbollah grabbed credit for the attack and said it has carried out an aerial attack with "a swarm of suicide drones" targeting tents and "sleeping quarters" for an Israeli artillery battalion in a newly created post in Beit Hillel.

The Israeli army said the attack caused no casualties.

Hezbollah later targeted a Merkava tank in the Yiftah barracks, wounding four soldiers.

Hezbollah fighters fired "a guided missile" at an Israeli Merkava tank across the border on Monday morning, destroying it "after closely monitoring the enemy's movements," the group said in a statement.

The Israeli army said "two anti-tank missiles" crossed from Lebanon into the area of Yiftah, less than two kilometers from the border.

The missiles maimed four Israeli soldiers, the army said, one of them moderately and the rest lightly and all were taken to hospital.

Hezbollah has since attacked Israel many times with explosive-laden drones.

Hezbollah also targeted Monday a post in the occupied Kfarshouba Hills and groups of soldiers in Berkat Risha, the Biranit barracks, and the al-Jerdah post.

Senior Hezbollah official Sheikh Nabil Qaouq said Monday that Hezbollah's drones can reach beyond Akka and Haifa in northern Israel.

"The resistance has proven that it is up to the challenge and has succeeded in breaking Israeli equations and rules in front of the world," Qaouq said.

He added that Israelis can not return to the north before the war on Gaza stops.

Tens of thousands of people have been displaced on both sides of the border in the seven months of cross-border violence.

At least 410 people have been killed in Lebanon in months of cross-border violence, mostly snuffies but also including 79 civilians, according to an AFP tally.

Israel says 14 soldiers and nine civilians have been killed on its side of the border.

Strip on Monday, forcing hundreds of civilians to flee, as a ferocious attack which began on Sunday evening continued.

In Jabalia, tanks were trying to advance towards the heart of the camp, the biggest of Gaza's eight historic refugee camps, amid fierce festivities with Paleostinian groups.

Residents said tank shells were landing at the centre of the camp and that air strikes had destroyed clusters of houses.

An al-Jazeera correspondent said that Israeli forces had heavily fired on civilian shelters in the camp, forcing hundreds of civilians to flee. They also fired on ambulances which tried to move into the camp.

Residents and medics said several people were killed and maimed in a series of air strikes on the camp overnight. Medics said they have been unable to send teams to some of the bombed areas because of the intensity of the Israeli bombardment but they have reports of fatalities.

Israeli settlers 'attack' Palestinians in occupied West Bank
[GEO.TV] Israeli settlers launched fresh attacks on Paleostinians and set their land on fire in the occupied West Bank on Monday, the Wafa news agency reported.

The attacks were carried out near the village of Madama south of Nablus. Israeli forces are preventing other Paleostinians from accessing the area to stop the settlers, the news agency said.

In the Bethlehem area, settlers also stole large quantities of wheat and barley crops from Paleostinian farmers.

The incident took place in the village of al-Minya southeast of Bethlehem, where settlers also attacked farmers and sheep herders, Wafa added.

Hezbollah targets Israeli soldiers with new 'Jihad Mughniyeh' missile
[NEWARAB] Hezbollah announced that it targeted a group of Israeli soldiers on Sunday in the Shebaa border area using a new type of heavy rocket, named the "Jihad Mughniyeh" missile.

The rocket, an unguided tactical missile with a 120-kilogram warhead, was named after a Hezbollah soldier killed by Israel while fighting in Syria in 2015.

Jihad was the son of Imad Mughniyeh, one of the founders of Hezbollah who was accused by the US of carrying out the 1983 bombing of the US embassy in Beirut. Imad Mughniyeh was killed in a joint CIA-Mossad operation involving boom-mobile on 12 February 2008, in Damascus, Syria.

Since border festivities between Hezbollah and Israel started on 8 October, Hezbollah has rolled out new weaponry in phases.

The Israeli view, reported by the Times of Israel:
Four soldiers were wounded in northern Israel by anti-tank guided missile fire from Lebanon on Monday, as the country marked Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror, the military and medical officials said.

The Israel Defense Forces said two anti-tank missiles had been launched at an area near Kibbutz Yiftah, resulting in the injury of four soldiers.

Ziv Hospital in Safed said the troops were brought to the medical center, where one of them was listed in moderate condition. The other three were lightly wounded.

The Hezbollah terror group claimed responsibility for the missile fire, saying it targeted a military position near Yiftah. Sirens had sounded in the community amid the attack.

Earlier Monday, two explosive-laden drones launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon struck an area near the northern community of Beit Hillel.

The IDF said the blasts sparked a fire that was extinguished a short while later.
