As America Soul Searches, The Rest Of The West Is Falling Apart
[Alt-Markets] In terms of geopolitics one could argue that allies don’t have to like each other, they just have to provide a mutual benefit that serves the greater purposes of peace. One could also argue that through cultural exchange the good habits of one country could easily influence the bad habits of another, but that kind of influence can also happen in reverse.

Though we might think of American culture as the content driver of the planet, the reality is that our ideals are an exceedingly rare dynamic found in no other society. We provide sanctuary to a fragile ember of free thought in an otherwise gloomy world of globalist oppression. It is something that must be protected at all costs.

Over the years I’ve heard many arguments from ignorant liberals about the grand progressive accomplishments of the European experiment and its centralized system. I’ve been told many times about how much safer Canada and Australia are. How the UK has near zero gun crime and how socialism works so well in Norway and Sweden.

Leftists in the US have long embraced this messaging as gospel and for generations they have told us that we MUST join the rest of western civilization by sacrificing certain liberties for the sake of future generations. We must become more like our allies in "more civilized" and liberal nations, or be left behind and labeled an "embarrassment".

In reality, progressive leaders have abandoned western civilization, forsaking it in exchange for the elitist "Great Reset". The political landscape in the UK, Canada and Australia has turned decidedly sour. They are speed running into technocracy and communism and abandoning any semblance of "democratic" governance. The mask is coming off to reveal Orwell’s "Big Brother".

Boris Rozhin: Alien. Earth
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

[ColonelCassad] On the road I watched a couple of episodes of the series "Alien. Earth" about how xenomorphs and the ghouls of varying degrees of vileness that join them end up on Earth. Even here the series is not original, this has already happened in "Requiem".
For those who don’t know, like me, it’s a series streaming on Hulu.

In this case, we have rather fantastic action films with small elements of horror.

Filmed mediocrely, there are a lot of questions about the script, the atmosphere of suspense is completely killed. The picture is mostly good and in places quite beautiful.
Mediocrely unless you are 71 going on 13 as I am...
In general, a purely commercial product to milk the franchise a little more.

The authors tried to be innovative, but in the end they rolled out a hodgepodge sprinkled with references.

Of course, you can watch it and it looks even better than the recent "Romulus". But nothing more. Although, who knows, maybe in the remaining episodes the authors will be able to surprise with something.

NYT Complains About U.S. Military Failure to Mutiny-YJCMTSU!
[LegalInsurrection] This week, the New York Times published a guest essay in their opinion section by Steven Simon and Jonathan Stevenson, two former members of the Obama administration. It must be seen to be believed.

In their effort to bash Trump’s decision to send federal forces into Washington, DC to help fight crime, the writers let the mask slip in astonishing fashion.

From the New York Times:

We Used to Think the Military Would Stand Up to Trump. We Were Wrong.

By ordering 800 National Guard troops to Washington, on the pretext of an illusory crime wave, President Trump has further dragged the U.S. military into domestic law enforcement, in a move credibly perceived as an ominous “test case.” This continues what the administration started in California in June as part of the its deportation efforts.

Unfortunately, though we (and others) had hoped that the military would only respond to calls to action in American cities and states kicking and screaming, we no longer expect resistance from that institution. Once, perhaps, traditionalist officers might have leaned on protocol and refused to heed a lawless order, taking inspiration from the generals — Mark Milley and James Mattis — who resisted the uprooting of established military standards in the first Trump term.

But today, general officers no longer seem to see themselves as guardians of the constitutional order.

It now seems clear to us that the military will not rescue Americans from Mr. Trump’s misuse of the nation’s military capabilities. Recent changes to the terms of the military’s employment by the Pentagon and its members’ incentives to career advancement will ultimately overcome any constitutional and moral qualms about their conduct.

Simply amazing.

#1  I was always told that you do not have to obey an illegal order. However, you had better be damned sure it really is illegal, and not something you just disagree with. You will be Court martialed, and have to prove that the order was illegal.

#2  The NYT also is calling for the abolishment of the Senate, packing the courts, basically doing away with the Constitution. Commies got to commie.

Europe
Germany's Industrial Core Is Collapsing Under The US Trade Deal And The Green Agenda
[ZeroHedge] The asymmetrical trade agreement between the EU and the US will further worsen Germany’s recession. Yet neither politicians nor corporate leaders show any willingness to make the sweeping policy changes needed to reverse course.

Germany’s economic data leaves no room for illusions. After contracting by 0.9% in 2023 and another 0.5% last year, the decline will continue this year.

THE MACHINE ROOM HAS BEEN BLOWN APART
It is precisely the sectors that have sustained German prosperity for decades—automobiles, construction, machinery—that are under the heaviest pressure. Without the artificial boost from state spending—now accounting for half of GDP—the private sector is set to shrink by 4—5% this year.

Since 2018, total productivity has been in steady decline. This is also a social problem: Germany is importing hundreds of thousands of welfare migrants into its social systems, yet the economy would have to boom just to keep per capita prosperity from falling.

A new survey by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) confirms what was already obvious: the EU—US trade deal will especially hurt Germany’s export-oriented economy.

According to the survey, 58% of companies expect additional burdens, rising to 74% for firms with direct US business. Only 5% expect any benefit.

"This deal may have been politically necessary, but for many German companies it’s a bitter pill," said DIHK CEO Helena Melnikov. "Higher tariffs, more bureaucracy, falling competitiveness"—that’s the price of the diplomatic truce between Washington and Brussels.

As of Thursday, a general 15% tariff applies to exports to the US, hitting automotive and machinery manufacturers hardest. 89% of US-oriented firms report immediate disadvantages, 72% fear further tariff hikes, 80% worry about political arbitrariness in transatlantic trade, and more than half plan to scale back US operations.

BUSINESS WAS ALREADY WEAK
In its May survey of over 21,000 companies, only 23% reported positive business expectations—down five points—while 30% expected deterioration. In industry, one in three anticipates fewer orders.

Just 19% plan to increase investment, while about a third plan to cut back. High energy prices, labor shortages, and political uncertainty are seen as the main drags. The DIHK forecasts a 0.3% recession for 2025, but adjusting for state spending, the real decline is closer to 4—5%.

Daily surveys confirm the same message: Germany is being deindustrialized, losing hundreds of thousands of core-sector jobs. The social security deficits already emerging are just the beginning. Yet both politics and business refuse to conduct an honest diagnosis.

The Green Deal remains sacrosanct. Energy costs for German industry are up to three times higher than for US competitors, double that of French firms—pushing energy-intensive sectors out of the country.

DANCING AROUND THE GOLDEN CALF
Nobody dares openly challenge Brussels’ climate agenda. A rare exception came in June, when a group of works council representatives wrote an open letter to the Chancellor, naming the Green Deal as a root cause of decline.

But most CEOs dodge the question. Mercedes-Benz chief Ola Källenius cites "weak demand, high production costs, and US tariff uncertainty" for falling margins—but ignores the Green Deal’s role. VW CEO Oliver Blume calls for lower energy prices and tax incentives for EVs—essentially more subsidies to keep the transition alive.

Corporate leadership is now fused ideologically with the Green Deal. The energy transition has battered Germany’s industrial base: sectors like construction and automotive have been knocked completely off track.

A SPLIT ECONOMY
Events like the "Made for Germany" coffee chat between 61 CEOs and the Chancellor are symbolic of a corporatist mindset. Large corporations can adjust or relocate production to sidestep regulation, but small and medium-sized enterprises—the Mittelstand—are being crushed.

The Green Deal’s bureaucratic weight ultimately clears the field for big corporations by eliminating smaller competitors.

The Mittelstand has no political backing, and many are fighting daily for survival—often ending in bankruptcy. In H1 2025, insolvencies rose 9.4% year-on-year to 11,900 companies.

There is still no sign of a policy shift on climate. The German corporate elite has failed to seize the initiative to force political change. Germany is heading for a hot autumn—economically and socially.

Olde Tyme Religion
The Truth About This Surge of Anti-Semitism
[American Thinker] It has been said that antisemitism is the oldest form of prejudice and hatred, predating most major religions.

One of the bravest women I have ever met is Ayaan Hirsi Ali and she has spoken at length in several forums about its deadly rise and what it means.

I met her in 2007 at the Martin Luther King dinner held by the Congress Of Racial Equality (CORE) which awarded her the award of International Sisterhood due to her efforts to protect the interests of Muslim women suffering from the demand of vaginal mutilation and forced marriage by Islamic Sharia law. At the time, she was a Dutch* parliamentarian and an atheist.

Today she is an American citizen, a Christian, and is still on tour at universities warning about the dangerous rise of antisemitism due to what she dubs the 'Islamism’ behind it.

I have written several columns on antisemitism from the perspective of a Catholic’s experience witnessing it from individuals expressing their bigotry confident that I shared this antipathy. I never did because I grew up in the barrio when I had Jewish neighbors who were beyond wonderful.

I went to Catholic school, taught by nuns, who always reminded us that Jesus and the Apostles who founded our faith were Jews, Three popes have written encyclicals warning Catholics not to believe in the false charges against Jews and asserted that this heinous hatred was politically motivated. It is a grave sin for Catholics to engage in pogroms or antisemitic violence but when have Catholics ever paid attention to the pope unless he was as woke as Pope Francis? {May he rest in peace.}

Although my columns may have triggered some hate mail, I was not forced to hide like Ms. Ali because criticizing Islam has been a dangerous act of courage since 9/11.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
With barely a leg to stand on, Hezbollah may still not give up its arms without a fight
[IsraelTimes] While the terror group is at its weakest point in decades, it’s still strong enough to stand up to the army tasked with confiscating its weaponry. Here’s what might happen next

Over the past several nights, dozens of cycle of violences have roared through Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, a Hezbollah stronghold. Riders honk incessantly, wave Hezbollah flags, block roads, and burn tires. Lebanese soldiers have detained some of them, but the noisy protests continue night after night, rattling the capital.

The unrest has come in response to a dramatic cabinet decision on August 5 ordering the Lebanese army to prepare a plan to disarm the Hezbollah terror group by the end of the year.

Two days later, the government formally approved the objectives of a US proposal presented to ministers, which includes a long-term ceasefire with Israel and a reconstruction program for Leb
...home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade....
Reading the decision after the cabinet meeting, Information Minister Paul Morcos also committed to a "gradual dismantling of non-governmental armed organizations, led by Hezbollah."

It was an almost unprecedented moment — an explicit mention of the group in the context of disarmament by the Lebanese government.

HEZBOLLAH’S INITIAL RESPONSE WAS LIMITED
Beyond sending cycle of violences into the streets, Hezbollah has so far confined its reaction to defiant public statements. In its central message, the group condemned the order to dismantle it, declared that it would not relinquish its weapons, and stated that it would "pretend the decision does not exist."

On Friday, Hezbollah’s leader Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
directly threatened the government, claiming that there would be "no life in Lebanon" should its weapons be taken by force. Any forcible seizure would lead to internal unrest, undermining the country’s national security, he warned. He further accused the government of buckling to Israel, saying its leaders were "implementing an American-Israeli order to end the resistance, even if it leads to civil war and internal strife."

The Lebanese government is unlikely to be intimidated by the comments.

Moran Levanoni, a veteran analyst of Lebanon and Hezbollah at the Institute for National Security Studies, believes the group’s restrained public stance does not reflect its full range of possible responses — foremost among them armed confrontation with Lebanon’s security forces.

"Ultimately, if Hezbollah does not want to give up its weapons, the weapons will not be [in government hands]," Levanoni told The Times of Israel. "The Lebanese government is digging in its heels and sees this as a make-or-break moment. All the actors understand Hezbollah is in its weakest state. But it still cannot happen without Hezbollah’s agreement, because in Lebanon, there is always the possibility of descending into internal violence. If Hezbollah feels strong enough, and its Iranian backing is significant enough — meaning the Iranians support it — it will open fire [on the Lebanese army]."

Hezbollah’s military capabilities were significantly degraded by Israel over the last 22 months, after the group began firing on Israel’s north on October 8, 2023.

Israel intensified its military response to Hezbollah in September, detonating explosives hidden in the pagers and walkie-talkies of thousands of Hezbollah operatives, and launching a powerful air campaign alongside a limited ground incursion.

During the war, Israel killed Hezbollah’s powerful leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The late, lamented satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...>
and many of his top commanders, while putting much of the group’s arsenal out of service.

In late November, a severely weakened Hezbollah agreed to bow out of the war, accepting an unfavorable ceasefire.

Since then, the IDF has continued near-daily strikes on Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon who are in violation of the ceasefire terms, which dictate that the terror group withdraw its forces north of the Litani River. By late July, IDF officials assessed that this pressure could push the group to consider disarming.

The Lebanese army has also taken action against Hezbollah since the truce began. In May, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam told The Wall Street Journal that his government had completed about 80% of its mission to disarm militias in southern Lebanon.

But Levanoni doubts Lebanon’s army is strong enough to confront Hezbollah directly: "During the last war, the Lebanese army had to receive donations from Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
so soldiers would have food. The army has said it needs another 4,500 troops to fulfill its missions in southern Lebanon [against Hezbollah]. That is a lot of money for salaries, which the Lebanese army currently does not have."

ECONOMIC STRAIN: A POTENTIAL WEAK LINK
Money may ultimately be the key to the disarmament of Hezbollah, which has in the past maintained a large base of support through generous handouts. In 2022, Forbes ranked Hezbollah the third-richest terror group in the world, after the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Afghanistan and Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
’s Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s, with annual revenues of $1.2 billion. Of that, $800 million came directly from Iran.

Now, after both it and its patron suffered heavy losses against Israel, the terror group is struggling to find the money needed to continue paying for support. In recent weeks, Arab media have reported that Hezbollah can no longer fund scholarships for the sons of its fighters killed in the war with Israel, and has told residents of southern Lebanon it cannot pay compensation for war damage.

"Hezbollah did not [just] operate in Shiite villages in southern Lebanon during the war — it was the Shiite villages in southern Lebanon," Levanoni stressed. "Now, much of that population is displaced, living with relatives or in camps, and hasn’t necessarily returned. Part of the Shiite population is very disappointed in Hezbollah. They thought Hezbollah would defend them in the south, and surprise, Hezbollah did not stand up to the ’Zionist army.'"

"And with the problems Hezbollah has in transferring funds — there was a recent report that it will no longer support the families of its deaders — this is a big blow. The economic situation can have a major impact on the loyalty of its supporters," Levanoni said.

Economic pressure also works on Hezbollah’s opponents. According to Lebanon’s own estimation, the country has suffered around $10 billion in damages from the war. Many countries, including Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
, have conditioned large-scale financial aid on Hezbollah’s disarmament.

But Levanoni warned this approach could backfire if other powers come to Lebanon’s aid in the meantime: "This [financial] condition means we throw away all the successes so far [against Hezbollah] and give the Iranians, Qataris, and Turks an opening to get back a hold on Lebanon. There should be a support plan for the Lebanese government and army so they are ready for this mission. One way [to act against Hezbollah] is to choke it financially — this is happening, but it hasn’t reached its full potential yet."

MODELS FOR DISARMAMENT
On paper, the Lebanese army is expected to submit its disarmament plan by the end of this month, with the process to be completed by the end of 2025. Although the decision was made under heavy international pressure, it is ultimately a Lebanese choice — and the country’s leaders have stressed that disarmament will be implemented through dialogue with Hezbollah.

At the presser after the American proposal was accepted, Morcos avoided answering whether force would be used; the memory of the 1975 civil war still hangs heavy over the highly diverse republic.

The government initially sought to reach a disarmament agreement with Hezbollah’s political wing, but failed. The decision was therefore made without the group’s consent. Parliamentary speaker Nabih Knobby Berri

...perennial Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
, head of the Hezbollah-allied Amal Movement, had been expected to mediate as he did in brokering the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel, though he appears to have recused himself.

In practice, Hezbollah will have to be a partner in any disarmament, which can be accomplished through several means. One is the "Iraqi option," in which Hezbollah fighters would be integrated into the Lebanese army, effectively maintaining their military capacity as a separate unit — much like Iraq’s pro-Iranian militias.

"This is a terrible option; the pro-Iranian militias in Iraq are a success model for Iran," Levanoni warned.

Another model, seen with Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, is the creation of shell terror groups that could store weapons and perform attacks in their own names, without technically implicating Hezbollah.

That, too, would suit Hezbollah, but not those seeking to end its role as an armed actor.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Ultimately, Hezbollah will only cooperate with an actual disarmament if it feels too weak to fight militarily.

"A lot of other things need to happen for this to occur. Right now, it seems a bit imaginary. It depends on how much Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
supports them, how determined the Lebanese army will be to act against them, or whether it will be done with a wink, as in the past," Levanoni said.

Behind the question of Hezbollah lies a larger issue: the future of Lebanon and its Shiite population. Hezbollah was founded more than four decades ago in part due to the Shiites’ sense of marginalization, and that remains the foundation of its power.

"The Shiites are now more than a third of Lebanon’s population; they’re not going anywhere, and they need political representation," said Levanoni. "Currently, their primary political expression is Amal and Hezbollah. [Israel] might be able to aspire — not out loud, and certainly not act toward it, because such attempts have never succeeded — but if we could reach a situation where Hezbollah became a [demilitarized] political party, it could be quite a good solution. In my opinion, it’s even the preferred solution."
