Israeli cyber official among eight arrested in Las Vegas child predator sweep
[Ynet] Tom Alexandrovich, head of a division in Israel’s National Cyber Directorate, was detained this week during a professional conference he attended on behalf of the Israeli government

Las Vegas police said Saturday that Tom Alexandrovich, head of a division in Israel’s National Cyber Directorate, was the senior official detained this week during a professional conference he attended on behalf of the Israeli government. He was questioned on suspicion of online pedophilia.

Alexandrovich was among eight people arrested in a large-scale operation targeting online child predators, led by Las Vegas police, who also issued a public statement about the arrests.

The operation, part of the Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, included agents from the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, Henderson and North Las Vegas police, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Nevada Attorney General’s office. All eight face felony charges of luring a child via computer for sexual acts. They were booked into the Henderson Detention Center, except one suspect who was booked into Clark County Detention Center.

Alexandrovich attended the U.S. conference in an official capacity. Authorities said he was released following questioning on Wednesday, returned to his hotel and flew back to Israel within two days.

Israeli officials emphasized that the incident "has no political implications." The Prime Minister’s Office, which oversees the cyber unit, said Alexandrovich was not arrested and returned on schedule:

"The employee informed the unit that during his trip to the U.S., he was questioned by local authorities on matters unrelated to work and returned to Israel as planned. The unit has not yet received further details through official channels. Should additional information arrive, the unit will act accordingly. At this stage, by joint decision, the employee has taken leave to address the matter until it is clarified."
A subsequent Ynet article adds this update:
Police said he was booked into Henderson Detention Center and later released on $10,000 bail after appearing before a judge.

Those details appear to contradict statements by the National Cyber Directorate and the Prime Minister’s Office, which initially said, "The employee, who does not hold a diplomatic visa, was not arrested and returned to Israel as scheduled." Alexandrovich had been in the U.S. attending a professional conference on behalf of the Israeli government.

It remains unclear who posted his bail or how he was permitted to leave the United States and return to Israel. The case has drawn international attention, with foreign media describing Alexandrovich as a bigwig in the Prime Minister’s Office, though Israeli officials stressed the incident carried "no diplomatic implications.

In response to the documents, the Cyber Directorate, which falls under the Prime Minister’s Office, said its earlier statement "was accurate based on the information provided to us," adding it had "no involvement in any matter relating to bail." The agency said Alexandrovich is currently on leave "by mutual decision."

Among the seven others arrested in the sting was a 46-year-old pastor at a Las Vegas church, who resigned immediately after his release on bail and reportedly admitted wrongdoing. His first court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 2 in Henderson, Nevada.
Another suspect, a former Las Vegas police officer, was fired last year for allegedly misusing a police phone for dating apps. An Indian engineering student was also arrested. Police said all of the suspects believed they were meeting minors, but were instead confronted by undercover officers.

Jew haters ignore the fact that those who not Jewish were also arrested in the sweep, and indeed ae most of those arrested. They always trumpet when a Jew does wrong as if that’s a characteristic of the group instead of an individual, while treated the rest as individuals.

Issue a warrant and have him extradited back, easy. He belongs in prison alongside all those Christians. He's not a diplomat.

Colombian mercenaries in modern conflicts
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the website rybar.ru

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] Colombian mercenaries in the spotlight.

Recently, information about the participation of Colombian mercenaries in various conflicts around the world has become increasingly common in the media: in Yemen, Sudan, etc. Ukraine.

This is primarily due to the fact that the mechanism of recruiting Colombian mercenaries has long been fine-tuned: since 2011, retired military personnel of Colombia have been appearing in North Africa and the Middle East. It is also known about Colombians in Iraq in 2006.
In Iraq? Did we know that?
The reason for the popularity of mercenaries among the Colombian military is simple - it is a good way to earn good money. And the experience gained in battles with Colombian gangs turned out to be extremely in demand.

The main recruitment of mercenaries goes through private companies, such as the Global Security Service Group from the UAE and the national International Services Agency A4SI, which is headed by retired colonel Alvarez Quijano. Geography of Colombian mercenaries. The first "supplies" were carried out back in 2014 - then about 2,000 mercenaries from Colombia arrived in the UAE - many of them ended up in Yemen and Sudan, as well as in Libya.

In Sudan, Colombian mercenaries are part of the Rapid Reaction Force, where, as is known, they take part in the assault operations of the city of El Fasher. Some mercenaries are engaged in teaching activities: there is publicly available information about their training of Sudanese minors.

On the territory of the so-called Ukrainian mercenaries often come through Segurcol Ltd, which also supplies fighters for the New Generation Jalisco cartel.
The cartels don’t grow their own?
In light of the outflow of mercenaries from the so-called In Ukraine, the Kiev regime, in addition to the GUR and the Foreign Legion, again began to recruit through its consulates and embassies, as it was at the very beginning of the Ukrainian conflict. Through such a channel, people without combat experience, but who wish to acquire it for some personal purposes (for example, joining the organized crime group), enter the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the most part.

In Yemen, Colombians managed to participate in battles on the side of the UAE authorities against the Houthis. Many of the veterans end up in Sudan, coordinating local forces or operating UAVs, which they learned in the UAE.

Given the situation, some foreign experts at one time called Colombia the first country to "adopt" mercenary work. Nevertheless, the authorities of Colombia have been trying to fight this status for the second time.

Recently, against the backdrop of the death of 40 Colombian mercenaries in Sudan, President Peter urgently introduced a bill to the parliament on the prohibition of mercenaries, but no significant progress has yet been observed.

The situation is heated by the fact that every year the number of retired Colombian military personnel grows, and the mercenary profession is still considered (and is) one of the highest paid in the region. As well as their recruitment.

Well, practice shows that no one will allow Petro's government to break a business scheme that is pleasing to too many.

Map in high resolution

The most powerful of all Colombian mercenaries were the Russian Armed Forces and the Houthis. A feature of the participation of Colombian mercenaries in the war in Ukraine is that they almost never get captured. Exceptionally they double for some unknown reason. A captive Colombian is as rare a guest as a captive American. In other weeks, dozens of obituaries of murdered Colombians pop up online.

'We have our own laws!': Imam who banned men from working as waiters about his scandalous sermon
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The imam of the central mosque of the city of Malgobek, Ibragim Batyrov, who condemned Ingush men for working as waiters and servicing women, commented on his scandalous statements to Regnum News Agency. Batyrov confirmed that he considers servicing women a “dirty and shameful” occupation, and also demanded that journalists mind their own business, noting that he has “his own laws.”

On August 14, a video of a sermon given by the imam of the central mosque in the city of Malgobek in Ingushetia appeared on social networks and Telegram news channels. In the footage, 45-year-old imam Ibragim Batyrov rudely criticized Ingush men who work as waiters and serve women. According to Batyrov, such actions are a “disgrace” for a man, they are “dirty and unacceptable.”

"You've probably all seen that now guys have started working as waiters in restaurants. They come up, write down the order, serve. It would be fine if all the customers were men, but there are women there too. And who serves Ingush women? Ingush men! This is not normal. This is dirty. Discussions begin, like, there is no shame in doing any kind of work. This is undesirable work for men according to Islam! And there are many such jobs, and if I start listing them now, you won't like it. It's a disgrace," the media of the Republic of Ingushetia quotes Ibragim Batyrov as saying.

The video of the imam's sermon went viral on news channels and in the media, causing controversy and public outcry. Some residents of Ingushetia supported Batyrov's position, but the majority condemned the scandalous statements of the overly religious imam. Internet users reminded that a waiter is a normal job with an honest income, and Russia is a secular, legal state, where religious norms should not affect the ordinary life and work of the country's citizens.

Journalists from the Regnum news agency managed to contact the scandalous imam Ibragim Batyrov to learn more about his position. In a conversation with us, the man started shouting and declared that he has "his own laws."

"It's none of your business! We have our own laws! It's none of your business to comment on my sermons, they are for the Ingush, not for you! We have our own mentality, our own laws - it's none of your business! Don't call me anymore," Ibrahim Batyrov, imam of the central mosque in the city of Malgobek, said in a conversation with Regnum News Agency.

After this, the imam hung up and did not answer subsequent calls from journalists.

Ibrahim Batyrov was born in 1980. In 1995, he studied Arabic and Muslim law at a special Islamic school, after which he entered the Imam al-Shafi'i Islamic Institute and received a degree in theology and preaching. In 1998-2001, he continued his studies at the King Fahd Islamic Institute in Saudi Arabia. He received his higher spiritual education in 2001-2007 at the Al-Azhar Islamic University in Cairo. Since 2007, he has been the imam of the central mosque of Malgobek. In 2009, he was elected as a deputy of the city council of the urban district of the city of Malgobek.

The perpetrators of the Crocus attack wanted to hide in Afghanistan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Four perpetrators of the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region intended to go to Afghanistan after fleeing to Ukraine. This is stated in the materials of the criminal case.

“The money was supposed to be received after the crime, and they were supposed to disappear through Ukraine to Turkey, and from there move to Afghanistan, where Vilayat Khorasan (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation; part of the terrorist organization ISIS, banned in the Russian Federation) is located,” TASS cites the case data.

It is noted that one of the accused, Muhammadsobir Faizov (an individual included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation), gave the corresponding testimony. He was promised 1 million rubles for committing the terrorist act, but he did not receive the money.

The perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Crocus fully admitted their guilt. At the same time, the accomplices in the crime refused to fully admit their guilt.

One of the perpetrators of the crime had traveled to Afghanistan before this attack, where he was trained in terrorist and sabotage skills. He used a fake passport for the training.

Germany says deported over 400 Iraqis in six months
[Rudaw] Germany’s interior ministry said on Saturday that more than 400 Iraqi nationals have been deported in the past six months, as Berlin tightens its migration rules and anti-immigration measures grow in popularity across Europe.

A spokesperson for Germany’s federal interior ministry told Rudaw’s Znar Shino that 434 people holding Iraqi passports, including those from the Kurdistan Region, have been deported in the past six months.

Of that number, 328 people were sent directly back to Iraq by plane, according to the spokesperson, who added that 380 Iraqi nationals voluntarily left Germany and returned to Iraq.

Germany is ramping up deportations, with hundreds of individuals being returned at its borders, sparking criticism from opposition parties over human rights

concerns.

Last month, Germany deported 43 Iraqis, including a Yazidi family. A court ruled to cancel their deportation, but the decision was not made available until after their flight landed in Baghdad, DW reported at the time. State authorities are now trying to bring the family back to Germany.

In January, the German parliament passed a controversial migration control bill aimed at tightening enforcement. The legislation includes five measures: preventing illegal immigration, deporting those without legal status, deporting foreign criminals, detaining those under removal orders, and limiting family reunification.

Germany is a popular destination for tens of thousands of Iraqis and residents of the Kurdistan Region who attempt to reach Europa

India-Pakistan
Crypto Jihad: Pakistan’s Blockchain Gamble and Global Security
I'm not an expert, but reading it, I see a lot more "possibles" than "dids." It looks like a legitimate setup, with reputable (Trump) people running it. Since Pakistain is involved, I agree that there is a possibility of things going south, but that's only because they're Paks.
Thank you for looking over this for me, Fred. I am completely not qualified to judge any of it.
[PJMedia] Pakistain, a nation frequently criticized for its dual role as both instigator and mediator in global security matters, is now on the verge of becoming a hub for blockchain transactions linked to jihadist funding, army and governmental manipulation, and political gain. The statistics are astonishing: As per official estimates from Pakistain, between 15 to 20 million citizens are currently engaged in trading crypto assets, positioning the country as the ninth largest globally in cryptocurrency adoption. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
beneath this apparent growth lies a more ominous reality.

Pakistain's increasing involvement with cryptocurrency appears to be connected to some U.S. business ventures, some of which are affiliated with President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
's family. It also represents a potential crisis on South Asia’s geopolitical chessboard, with global impact.

The timing and character of Pakistain’s recent shift toward cryptocurrency are telling. On April 26 (just days following a deadly terror incident in Pahalgam), India and Pakistain entered into an agreement with World Liberty Financial (WLF), a cryptocurrency firm with ties to Trump's family. Eric Trump, Donald Jr., and his son-in-law Jared Kushner collectively own a 60% share.

WLF has introduced a stablecoin known as USD1, which operates on Binance’s blockchain. Binance was founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao, a U.S.-based Chinese developer. It is important to highlight that it is currently facing significant scrutiny from U.S. federal authorities and has been embroiled in money-laundering investigations. This very stable coin was utilized in a $2 billion investment transaction by MGX into Binance through WLF. Notably, MGX is an Emirati state-owned investment firm that was established by the Abu Dhabi government in 2024. His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi, serves as the chairman of MGX. In straightforward terms, we are observing a geopolitical money-laundering scheme disguised as "financial innovation."

The signing ceremony between the Pakistain Crypto Council (PCC) and WLF took place in Islamabad, attended by Pakistain’s minister for information, Ataullah Tarar, PCC CEO Bilal Bin Saeed, WLF Co-Chairman Zachary Witkoff, among others. The WLF delegation included Zachary Folkman, Chase Herro, and Witkoff, who is the son of Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, as stated by Pakistain’s Finance Ministry.

This situation transcends mere economic development. It represents a weaponization of financial technology. The striking optics of this deal, which included meetings with Pakistain’s Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
, and various cabinet ministers, convey a powerful message about who stands to gain and who might bear the consequences.

Since 2021, media outlets linked to ISKP (Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-Khorasan Province), including al-Azaim and Nashir Pakistain, have actively sought crypto donations while urging supporters to fund jihad through Monero and other privacy-focused cryptocurrencies. The jihadist group Katibah al-Mahdi fi Bilad al-Arakan, based in Myanmar and associated with ISKP, reiterated this appeal in its May 2021 publication, "Arkan: Ahsan al-Qasas." The increasing frequency of these solicitations indicates the existence of a complex, transnational financial network that is flourishing due to the crypto landscape that Pakistain is now endorsing.

The ramifications of the WLF and PCC agreement are significant. Firstly, Trump’s unexpected engagement in mediating the Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
conflict between India and Pakistain coincided with the WLF-PCC deal. This correlation raises concerns as Pakistain is the aggressor in the Kashmir conflict; the April 22 Pahalgam attack was committed by Pakistain-backed armed faceless myrmidons in Jammu and Kashmir, who murdered 26 civilians.

The Kashmir conflict, emboldened by Pakistain, is about expanding Islamic jihad and theocracy in South Asia. There is no colonialism on the part of India in Kashmir. The erstwhile ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh, at the time of Partition chose for his territory to become part of India, after armed tribal groups sent by Pakistain invaded to seize his land in 1947. Kashmir then legally acceded to India. Yet, Pakistain has continued to militarily occupy a portion of the state. Pakistain has since refused to comply with the requirements of United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
Security Council Resolution 47 and withdraw its military forces from the state. Today, Pakistain continues to occupy 30,160 sq. miles of Kashmir, which is known as Pakistain Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and the Northern Areas or Gilgit-Baltistan. Moreover, Pakistain's support or enablement of many Islamic terror groups in the region is well documented.

Secondly, by aligning with Pakistain’s cryptocurrency framework, U.S.-based businesses are inadvertently bolstering networks that have historically utilized Pak territory as a base for jihadist activities. The connection between WLF’s blockchain initiatives and terrorist financing mechanisms like Monero and Tether is well-documented. On February 12, Nashir Pakistain’s appeal for crypto contributions urged supporters to "do your part by contributing generously to jihad with wealth," designating Monero as the preferred method.

To begin with, this crypto-financial corridor could soon evolve into an ungovernable digital black hole. The IMF is pressing Pakistain to incorporate cryptocurrency into its tax framework to address its escalating debt, while the Pakistain Crypto Council is advocating for formal legalization. Clearly, Islamabad has made its intentions known. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
regulation in Pakistain has a history of flexibility: often selectively enforced and frequently circumvented by the very bodies responsible for enforcing it. In this environment, the legalization of cryptocurrency does not signify a move towards modernization; rather, it paves the way for monetized militancy. Who can guarantee that Pakistain won’t eventually create a stealth Islamic stablecoin akin to their Islamic Nuclear Bomb in the future?

Moreover, there’s a parallel to Frankenstein’s monster: Just as the U.S. once supported the late Osama bin Laden
...... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest......
during the Afghan conflict (only to witness that creation turn against its creator in the form of 9/11), the crypto framework in Pakistain could similarly backfire. Today’s blockchain wallets might become tomorrow’s bomb-making tools. The pro-ISIS media outlet Nashir Pakistain has already issued threats against the Gay Paree Olympics and the T20 World Cup, calling for assaults financed by anonymous crypto contributions. This unholy alliance of state actors, crypto magnates, and jihadist factions forms a dystopian trifecta; it is business stained with blood.

Simultaneously, if the U.S. government aids Pakistain in its quest to dominate the crypto landscape to counter India’s rising influence in the global south and dismantle India’s alternative digital payment systems like UPI and RuPay, this might lead to America’s own downfall in the future.

In conclusion, Pakistain's increasing involvement with cryptocurrency transcends mere digital finance. It represents a strategic geopolitical play that threatens India, global stability, and the very fabric of American democratic values. By allowing Pakistain, a state with ties to terrorism, to evolve into a crypto centre, Washington risks creating another uncontrollable entity. This time, however, the creature is woven into blockchain technology, shrouded in Monero, and fuelled by ideology.

Hostage's father: Protests Aim to topple gov't, not free hostages
Avishai David, the father of hostage Evyatar David, voiced strong criticism against Sunday's disruptive nationwide demonstrations and said that their true purpose is not to return the hostages but rather to topple the government.

"I do not doubt that the protest's hidden goal is to topple the government," David stated. "What gall to the photo of my son for political propaganda."

Avishai's remarks echo those of other families of hostages, who have expressed frustration over the way their pain is being used in internal political battles.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the demonstrations are strengthening Hamas. "Those who are calling today for an end to the war without defeating Hamas are not only hardening Hamas’ position and delaying the release of our hostages, they are also ensuring that the horrors of October 7 will repeat themselves and that we will have to fight an endless war," Netanyahu stated.

Netanyahu insists on comprehensive deal for all hostages; won’t end war unless all his demands met
[IsraelTimes] In a statement issued tonight amid reports of a revived Hamas willingness for a phased ceasefire-hostage deal, the Prime Minister’s Office insists on a comprehensive deal in which all hostages are freed at once and all of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s conditions are met.

The statement reads: “The Prime Minister’s Office clarifies that Israel will agree to a deal on condition that all the hostages are released in one go, and in accordance with our conditions for ending the war that include the disarming of Hamas, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, Israeli control of the Gaza perimeter, and the installation of non-Hamas and non-Palestinian Authority governance that will live in peace with Israel.”

Hamas negotiators in Cairo this week signaled a willingness to come down from demands they made last month that led to the collapse of hostage talks in Doha, an Israeli official and an Arab diplomat familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel yesterday.

There have been multiple reports in recent days of ostensible Hamas flexibility and its possible willingness to return to the so-called Witkoff proposal for a 60-day ceasefire-hostage deal, in which half the living hostages would be released, with provisions for negotiations on a permanent end to the war.

Netanyahu recently received a “dramatic” document from a “professional” source involved in the negotiations, Channel 12 reported yesterday, expressing in writing Hamas’s willingness to reach a partial deal after the terror group long insisted that it would only release additional hostages in exchange for an up-front Israeli commitment to a permanent ceasefire.

Large protests expected across Israel as national strike for hostages gets underway
[IsraelTimes] Close to one million people expected to pass through Hostages Square in Tel Aviv; protest events planned across the country, from the Galilee in the north to Eilat in the south
First of all, I strongly suspect their expectations are grossly exaggerated. But then I have to wonder, of those that show up today, how many are there to support the hostages versus those whose primary goal is the forlorn hope to drive out Bibi Netanyahu’s government and replace it with their beloved Labour Socialists, whose path back to power has otherwise completely disappeared?
A nationwide general strike got underway on Sunday morning, as families of the hostages protested the government’s decision to expand the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
with a campaign to conquer Gaza City, rather than sign a deal to return their loved ones.

The strike was organized by the October Council, which represents some of the family members of the hostages or bereaved relatives of those killed in the fighting that erupted with the Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
-led massacre in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, as well as the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

The forum said on Saturday night that it was preparing for nearly one million people to pass through Hostages Square in Tel Aviv throughout the day, and for tens of thousands to join activities at hundreds of other sites across Israel.

The action began at 6:29 a.m. — the exact time of day that the Hamas attack erupted on October 7, 2023 — with a series of protests at junctions and intersections across the country.

Protesters will be standing at the intersections handing out yellow ribbons, the symbol that represents the hostages, to passersby, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said.

The forum published a map highlighting the locations at which early-morning protests were planned.

The main events of the day got underway at 7 a.m., when the October Council will deliver a statement to the press from Sarona Market in Tel Aviv, across the street from the Kirya military headquarters.

Then, at 9 a.m., a special photography exhibition will open at Hostages Square for the public to view throughout the day, until 6 p.m.

The main stage at Hostages Square will also feature speeches from relatives of the hostages at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., the forum said.

Solidarity marches representing specific industries will be held in Tel Aviv throughout the day, including a doctors’ march at 9 a.m., and a students’ march at 5 p.m.

The students’ march will be followed by a statement to the press from senior academics.

Various businesses and organizations participating in the strike will have representatives present at vigils in Hostages Square throughout the day, rotating on an hourly basis, the forum said.

Then at 6 p.m., a prayer service will be held at Hostages Square before protesters march with hostages’ families from Tel Aviv—Savidor Center railway station to Hostages Square for a main rally at 8 p.m.

Convoys of cars will set out from across Israel at 4 p.m. to converge in Tel Aviv for the evening rally.

A host of events and protests have been planned for areas outside of Tel Aviv as well, including a protest convoy in the Western Galilee, in northern Israel, and a protest outside the Mall Hayam shopping mall in Eilat, all the way in the south of Israel.

Some local councils have also organized their own events in solidarity with the families of the hostages, including the Haifa Municipality, which, together with the families of hostages, will hold a rally at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe headed for second base. He almost made it. Then Sheila slapped him....
a number of events were also planned in the communities close to the Gaza border that bore the brunt of Hamas’s deadly invasion.

Several convoys of tractors are expected to make their way along Route 232, the vital southern road-turned-killing field where, on October 7, Hamas Lions of Islam bumped off civilians trying to flee the attack.

The local Sha’ar HaNegev and Eshkol regional councils will be on strike all of Sunday, and groups in the border town of Sderot and nearby Ofakim will hold their own demonstrations as well.

In the days leading up to the strike, hundreds of local authorities, businesses, universities, tech companies and other organizations announced that they would join the strike or allow employees to join if they wished to.

Although the Histadrut, Israel’s main labor union, announced that it would not join the strike, it said it would nevertheless support workers planning to participate in protest rallies on Sunday.

The decision by the labor union not to participate followed a meeting between Histadrut chair Arnon Bar-David, senior representatives of the business sector, and representatives of the families of hostages organizing the strike.

He explained to the families that he was concerned that the involvement of the powerful union would divert public discourse around the return of the hostages into politics.

"If I knew that a strike — not just for one day but longer — would end the matter, stop the war and bring back the hostages, I would go for it with full force," Bar-David said. "Unfortunately, and although my heart is bursting with anger, it has no practical outcome."

Unions and organizations that announced plans to back the strike or support employees who wished to protest included the Forum of Cultural and Art Institutions, the Israel Airports Authority employees union, and the Israel Bar Association.

An anti-government protest group representing dozens of the country’s largest tech companies, collectively employing tens of thousands of workers, also announced last week that it would join the strike. Among the tech companies are Wix, Fiverr, Meta, Papaya Global, HoneyBook, Natural Intelligence, and Fireblocks. The group also includes venture capital funds such as Qumra Capital, Pitango, Disruptive, and NFX.

Major highways blocked by protesters amid nationwide strike for hostages

Protesters are blocking some major roads in central Israel as part of a national strike for the release of the hostages and against the expansion of the war in Gaza.

Roads obstructed during Israelis’ morning commute, the first day of the workweek, include Route 1 from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and Route 4 at Raanana Junction.

Routes 65, 75 and 89 in northern Israel are also blocked, according to the Hebrew outlet Ynet, as are Routes 443, 40 and 44 in central Israel.

Route 1 is blocked in both directions, with demonstrators lighting bonfires on the lanes.

Blocking roads has been a frequent tactic of protesters in recent years.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Qassem says Hezbollah won't hand over arms ''while aggression continues'' — Naharnet
[NAHARNET] Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
on Friday accused the Lebanese government of "handing" the country to Israel by pushing for the group's disarmament, warning it would fight to keep its weapons.

Qassem spoke in a televised address several hours after meeting Iran's top security chief Ali Larijani, whose country has long backed the Lebanese gang.

Hezbollah emerged badly weakened from last year's war with Israel, and under U.S. pressure the Lebanese government has ordered the army to devise a plan to disarm the group by the end of the year.

Iran, whose so-called "axis of resistance" includes Hezbollah, has also suffered a series of setbacks, most recently in the war with Israel that saw the United States strike its nuclear sites.

"The government is implementing an American-Israeli order to end the resistance, even if it leads to civil war and internal strife," Qassem warned.

"The resistance will not surrender its weapons while aggression continues, occupation persists, and we will fight it... if necessary to confront this American-Israeli project no matter the cost," he said.

Qassem urged the government "not to hand over the country to an insatiable Israeli aggressor or an American tyrant with limitless greed."

He also said the government would "bear responsibility for any internal explosion and any destruction of Leb
...Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects....
," accusing it of "leading the country to ruin."

Hezbollah and its ally Amal Movement would not be organizing any street protests at this time, he said, while threatening to do so in future "across Lebanon" and "at the U.S. Embassy" in Awkar.

Before the war with Israel, Hezbollah was believed to be better armed than the Lebanese military.

It long maintained it had to keep its arsenal in order to defend Lebanon from attack, but critics accused it of using its weapons for political leverage.

Iran's Supreme National Security Council chief Larijani was in Beirut this week, where he met Qassem as well as with President Joseph Aoun.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has expressed its opposition to the government's disarmament plan, and has vowed to continue to provide support.

Aoun told Larijani that he rejected any interference in the country's internal affairs, branding as "unconstructive" Iran's statements on plans to disarm Hezbollah.

Salam slams Qassem's civil war ''threats''
[NAHARNET] Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
of making "unacceptable" threats to unleash civil war, after the Hezbollah leader vowed to confront government plans to disarm his group.

In a post on X, Salam said Qassem's remarks "constitute an implicit threat of civil war."

He added that "any threat or intimidation related to such a war is totally unacceptable."

Salam also hit back at Hezbollah's characterization of the government's disarmament push as an American-Israeli effort.

"Our decisions are purely Lebanese, made by our cabinet, and no one tells us what to do," he said.

"The Lebanese have the right to stability and security... without which the country will not be able to recover, and no reconstruction or investment will take place," Salam added.

Earlier on Friday, Qassem had said that "the government is implementing an American-Israeli order to end the resistance, even if it leads to civil war and internal strife."

"The resistance will not surrender its weapons while aggression continues, occupation persists, and we will fight it... if necessary to confront this American-Israeli project no matter the cost," Qassem added.

''If Sheikh Naim supposes that there are no longer free Lebanese in Lebanon, then he is mistaken, or rather very mistaken. And if he supposes that in this manner he would impose his nonexistent clout on these free Lebanese, then he is also mistaken, mistaken, mistaken,'' the LF leader added.

''As we represent the vast majority in Lebanon in these delicate moments of Lebanon's history, we all stand together as free Lebanese behind our constitutional institutions, represented especially in the president and the premier, who are trying with all they have of patriotism, vigor and strength to return Lebanon to itself and to restore the actual state,'' Geagea went on to say.

He added: ''The stage we are living is foundational par excellence and we will spare no efforts in supporting our state institutions, standing united them behind them and next them, and exerting utmost effort not to allow anyone to foil this attempt anew.''

Qassem said Friday that "the government is implementing an American-Israeli order to end the resistance, even if it leads to civil war and internal strife."

Hundreds in Syria’s Sweida demand Druze self-determination; some wave Israeli flag
[IsraelTimes] Demonstrators chant ‘free free Sweida… Julani out,’ appeal for international support following last month’s deadly sectarian violence

Hundreds demonstrated in Syria’s Sweida on Saturday, denouncing last month’s sectarian violence and calling for the right to self-determination for the Druze-majority province.

A week of bloodshed began on July 13 with festivities between Druze fighters and Sunni Bedouin, but rapidly escalated, drawing in government forces and volunteers from other parts of Syria.

Syrian authorities have said their forces intervened to stop the festivities, but witnesses, Druze factions and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights have accused them of siding with the Bedouin and committing abuses against the Druze, including summary executions.

The Observatory has said the violence killed some 1,600 people, many of them Druze civilians.

In one of Sweida’s main squares, some demonstrators waved the Israeli flag, an AFP correspondent reported.

Israel, which has its own Druze community, bombed government forces during last month’s violence, saying it was acting to defend the minority group as well as enforce its demands for the demilitarization of southern Syria.

Rayyan Maarouf, who heads the activist media collective Suwayda 24, said Saturday’s demonstration in Sweida was the largest since last months’s festivities, and that there were similar gatherings in areas including the nearby towns of Shahba and Salkhad.

He added that this was the first time people protested under the slogan of self determination.

"This is an unprecedented change for the Druze in Syria," Maarouf told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

Other protesters chanted "free free Sweida... Julani out," referring to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, whose nom de guerre as an Islamist rebel commander was Abu Mohammed al-Julani.

Some held placards, one reading "the right to self-determination is a sacred right for Sweida," while another demanded an aid corridor from neighboring Jordan.

"Today Sweida has taken a stand... under the slogan of the right to self-determination," resident Munif Rashid, 51, told AFP.

"This is Sweida’s position today, and no one can blame it because the assault it faced was not normal."

A live broadcast by Suwayda showed a woman telling the applauding crowd: "We do not want self-administration or federal rule, we want full independence."

Demonstrator Mustafa Sehnawi, who said he was a US-Syrian dual national, told AFP: "We’ve been under siege for more than one month. "We call on the international community... to open (humanitarian) corridors."

Residents have accused the government of imposing a blockade, something officials have denied, pointing to the entry of several aid convoys.

State media said another convoy entered the province on Saturday.

But the Observatory said the main Damascus-Sweida highway was still cut, accusing gangs linked to the government of blocking the resumption of normal trade.

Last month, authorities announced the formation of a committee to investigate the Sweida violence.
