Leviathan partnership inks $35 billion gas deal with Egypt
Once the gas starts flowing, Egypt will be constrained in the mischief they can do.
[IsraelTimes] Partners in Israel’s Leviathan offshore gas field say they have signed a $35 billion deal to supply energy to Egypt until 2040, in the largest export deal in the country’s history.

Israel’s NewMed Energy, formerly Delek Drilling (part of Yitzhak Tshuva’s Delek Group), which owns a 45.3 percent stake in Leviathan, off Israel’s Mediterranean coast, says the partners will sell a total of about 130 bcm (billion cubic meters) of natural gas to Egypt until 2040, or until all of the contract quantities are fulfilled.

Natural gas from Leviathan, one of the world’s largest deep-water gas discoveries, started to flow to the Israeli domestic market in December 2019. The Leviathan reservoir began exporting natural gas to Egypt in January 2020.

“The deal should pave the way for the expansion of Leviathan and ensure the supply of natural gas to the Israeli market until 2064,” NewMed says.

AG Bondi offers $50M for arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro
[FoxNews] The United States had accused Nicolás Maduro of aiding drug cartels and corruption

Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday announced a $50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The Justice Department and State Department announced the reward, up from $25 million. The United States has accused Maduro of aiding drug cartels and street gangs, as well as operating a corrupt and repressive regime.

"Maduro uses foreign terrorist organizations like TdA (Tren de Aragua), Sinaloa and Cartel of the Suns (Cartel de Soles) to bring deadly violence to our country," Bondi said in a video message. "He is one of the largest narco-traffickers in the world and a threat to our national security."

Cartel of the Suns is a Venezuelan drug-trafficking organization comprised of high-ranking Venezuelan officials. In March 2020, Maduro was charged in a federal indictment with narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices.

To date, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and his associates, Bondi said. The drugs are a primary source of income for Mexican and Venezuelan-based cartels, she said.

Bondi noted that cocaine is often laced with fentanyl, resulting in thousands of American lives lost. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has frequently criticized Maduro, whom he said is not the South American nation's legitimate leader following a disputed 2024 election victory.

"One year since dictator Nicolás Maduro defied the will of the Venezuelan people by baselessly declaring himself the winner, the United States remains firm in its unwavering support to Venezuela’s restoration of democratic order and justice," Rubio said last month. "Maduro is not the President of Venezuela and his regime is not the legitimate government."

Fifth Column
Anti-Israel activist [Karen] confronts former IDF soldier on New York beach, gets questioned in return
[FoxNews] Video shows activist shouting accusations while former IDF soldier and friends remain calm and composed

A peaceful afternoon on a New York beach took a jarring turn when an anti-Israel activist launched a verbal tirade against a former Israeli soldier, simply for wearing a Star of David necklace.

The incident, captured on video and posted by ILTV Israel News, shows the activist shouting accusations and interrogating the man and his friends in an increasingly heated exchange.

"Yesterday, an unhinged pro-Hamas protester targeted a former IDF soldier on a New York beach, simply for wearing a Star of David," the outlet captioned the clip on Instagram.

"Despite her shouting and offensive behavior, the Israelis stayed calm, respectful, and composed. The only hate in that video came from one side as usual and it wasn’t theirs," the post continued.

In the video, the activist approaches a man sitting on a towel with a woman and another man, accusing him of war crimes.

"You went to Gaza, right? You fought children? You killed children in Gaza?" she shouts at him.

Both men calmly answered her questions. One of them confirmed he served in the Israel Defense Forces and had been stationed in Gaza. The woman he’s sitting with adds, "He went to Gaza to help all the children that your people killed."

As the woman continues filming and yelling, one of the men attempts to de-escalate.

"So if you want to see a picture of [my brother] over there right now, I can show you what’s going on."

The protester screams back, demanding to see it.

"Please show me a picture of your brother in Gaza, please do. Please. The world wants to see your faces. The world does want to see your faces!" she screams at him.

She then asks if he is proud of his service. Smiling, he replies, "I’m proud of serving my country."

That only fuels her anger. "You think killing other people and radicalizing them makes your people safer?" she shouts.

He calmly fires back, bringing up the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack, in which over 1,200 Israelis were slaughtered and hundreds taken hostage.

The man invites her to have a real conversation. She refuses.

He asks if she’s ever been to Gaza.

"I cannot go to Gaza," she replies. "Your people are not letting me."

"If you go there right now, dressed like that, they’ll slaughter you," he says, pointing to her bikini.

"That's not true!" she screams back.

A lifeguard eventually approaches, attempting to mediate. The protester claims the Israelis insulted her and that they are IDF soldiers who "killed people in Gaza."

"Insulted you? How did I insult you?" the man asks, still calm.

He again offers to talk — she declines.

"Why would I want to talk to your guys? You guys have killed my people! You're killing children," she yells. "Why are you sitting with people who kill children? Is that cool for you?" she asks the other man sitting in the group.

"Just leave us alone," the man replies.

As she walks away, she shouts one final slogan: "Free Palestine!"

Fox News Digital reached out to the New York City Parks Department for comment on the incident but did not receive a response.
She doesn’t care what the man answered. The point is to make clear to Israelis that there is nowhere in the world where they welcome. And Jews, too, of course.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan's nervous silence: fears both sanctions and American submarines
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kamran Gasanov

[REGNUM] Turkey had high hopes for Donald Trump's rise to power. The Republican is cynical on human rights issues, does not shy away from friendship with regimes that Democrats call "authoritarian," and is flexible on foreign policy issues, where globalists also often emphasize the spread of democracy and minority rights.

Following the Republican's victory last November, Turkish Foreign Minister and possible next president Hakan Fidan analyzed Trump's performance and made a forecast of his actions.

In it, Fidan counted on the withdrawal of American troops from the Euphrates region, but doubted that this would happen quickly. “My impression of Donald Trump is that despite his statements on various issues, he will postpone the solution of critical problems,” Fidan noted then.

Turkey ended up getting lucky. Between Trump's election and inauguration, Bashar al-Assad's regime fell, Turkey became the main player in Syria, and the American later showered Recep Tayyip Erdogan with compliments.

It would seem that the biggest burden that had been poisoning bilateral relations with the United States since 2018 had been lifted from his shoulders: Washington supported the Kurds and prevented military operations against them.

Over the past six months, Turkey's ties with the United States have undergone a renaissance. Trump calls Erdogan a friend, and the American president is expected to visit. Even Israel's actions in Syria have not damaged Turkish ties with the most pro-Israel American leader.

Trump gave Benjamin Netanyahu a dressing down and asked him to settle disputes with a NATO ally. Not only is the US playing the role of mediator between Turkey and Israel, but Istanbul itself has become a peacemaking platform for Washington. It was there that negotiations were held between American and Russian representatives on restoring diplomatic relations.

And there are also ongoing negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, which the head of the White House has been so persistently seeking. Turkey has also become a mediator between Damascus and Washington, organizing a meeting between Trump and Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa in Riyadh.

In addition, the two countries have a number of interesting joint projects in the future. Turkey is counting on the lifting of sanctions due to the purchase of Russian S-400 systems and a return to the F-35 fighter jet construction program. In mid-May, the Turkish president said that he had seemingly reached an agreement with the United States to ease the sanctions imposed by the CAATSA law.

Relations could become even closer if the Americans gain control over the Zangezur Corridor and Armenia and Azerbaijan sign a peace treaty. Trump also intends to participate in the latter, for which purpose he will soon host the presidents of these countries, Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan.

The man who initiated American participation in the corridor project, Tom Barrack, is also the US ambassador to Turkey. Through him, America constantly consults with its ally on crisis issues in the Middle East. In particular, this scheme helped stop clashes between al-Sharaa and the Druze and the Israeli military intervention in Syria.

It would seem that what else do Trump and Erdogan need to be happy? Probably, all that remains is to hold a personal meeting, and the Turkish leader is doing everything for this. But Trump's arrival rests on the Ukrainian settlement, because Istanbul is counting on a four-party summit with the participation of Putin, Trump, Erdogan and Zelensky.

However, it is precisely the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict that could spoil the “romantic period” that has emerged between the two NATO partners. And here’s why.

Since July, Trump has begun to raise an eyebrow at the Kremlin: the impatient billionaire is not satisfied with the slow pace of the peace process and wants to achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible.

Russia is not against it, but it reminds us of the root causes of the crisis: NATO expansion, oppression of the Russian-speaking population, persecution of Orthodoxy in Ukraine, and others.

If in February Trump blamed Zelensky for the failure of peacekeeping and eventually forced him to attend the Istanbul meetings, now he has decided to try to put pressure on Russia.

As a result, he first issued a 50-day ultimatum, then shortened it to 10-12 days, threatening to start a tariff war against Russia and its trading partners. India has already been the first to fall victim.

And after India and China, Turkey is on the list of Russia's key trading partners. Since 2022, trade turnover between the countries has broken historical records, reaching $60 billion. Due to pressure from former US President Joe Biden and the sanctions he imposed on dozens of Turkish companies, the pace has slowed, but remains high.

In 2024, they were at the level of over $50 billion, which is 7% less than the previous year. Turkey is the third largest importer of Russian oil, and Russia is the leading supplier of oil, gas and coal to the country on the shores of the Bosphorus. Turkey imports 100% of the gas it consumes, and its dependence on Russian supplies is estimated at 40%. For “black gold”, the dependence is 90%.

On the other hand, the United States is the third export market for iron, steel, carpets, machinery, stone and cement products. Turkey annually supplies goods worth $14 billion to America. In Turkish imports, the United States, although far behind the European Union, still ranks fifth with a share of 5%.

If Trump decides to impose draconian tariffs, Turkey will face colossal economic damage. And all recent experience suggests that Turkey is vulnerable. In 2019, Trump almost brought down the lira when Erdogan refused to release Pastor Andrew Brunson, who was accused of having links to Gulenists. In the end, he was released. Incidentally, it was the Republican administration that imposed sanctions for the purchase of the S-400.

Under Democrat Biden, in addition to direct sanctions for parallel import-export with Russia, Türkiye received a blow to the project of the first nuclear power plant "Akkuyu". In February, the US Department of Justice froze $2 billion that came from Russia to the accounts of JPMorgan bank.

The Erdogan administration has so far not responded to Trump's tariff threats, apparently trying to delay the outbreak of conflict, but Turkish observers are already expressing concern.

Foreign policy expert Gökhun Gecmen wrote on social media immediately after the 50-day ultimatum was announced: "Trump's threat to Russia concerns Turkey. Trump said he would introduce 'secondary tariffs' if Russia does not reach an agreement with Ukraine within 50 days. This also applies to countries that trade directly with Moscow."

But even without a public reaction, the attitude of official Ankara is quite predictable. On July 30, the speaker of parliament Numan Kurtulmuş announced that new sanctions against Russia will not lead to a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

"You cannot stop a war with an embargo or similar measures. The task is not to take such measures, but to pave the way to peace through negotiations," he said.

In early February, Fidan said that Ankara wanted to start discussing with Washington the anti-Turkish restrictions imposed within the framework of CAATSA. And on September 19 last year, in an interview with Anadolu News Agency, he pointed to the West’s refusal to wage an economic war against Russia as part of the overall scenario for stopping the conflict in Ukraine: “sanctions will also be on the negotiating table as a large package.”

But it is one thing when it comes to sanctions against Russia, which have an indirect impact on the Turkish economy, and another thing when it comes to direct sanctions against Ankara. The latter are much stronger and more painful in their scale.

Turkey is barely emerging from the lira crisis. Inflation has slowed to 33%, the lowest since November 2021, and the key rate has been cut from 46 to 43 percent. Direct sanctions will not only put an end to the positive pace of recovery, but, as Trump threatened in his last term, will destroy the Turkish economy.

In short, Turkey is holding its breath ahead of August 8, the deadline for Trump's tariff ultimatum. They were probably watching his special envoy Steve Witkoff's visit to Moscow very closely, hoping for at least minimal progress in the Russian-American negotiations.

Much to Turkey's regret, despite Erdogan's role in the Istanbul negotiations, the issue of imposing sanctions is not within his competence: everything depends on Putin and Trump. At the same time, it should not be ruled out that behind the scenes or openly, Turkey will take all sorts of steps to find a common language with the White House. Erdogan has such experience: during Trump's previous term, he already managed to get exceptions for Turkey under US sanctions against Iran and Russia.

A scenario that is far more frightening for Turkey than sanctions is the risk of a direct clash between Russia and the United States, given Trump's threats to move American nuclear submarines closer to Russia.

But even here, Erdogan still has some leverage. International law expert Hakan Erkiner told the Turkiye newspaper that the American would have to get Ankara's approval if he decided to send US submarines to the Black Sea.

"Turkey, in accordance with the Montreux Convention, has the right to allow such warships only to enter its ports. I do not think that Turkey will give such permission," he noted.

Given Turkey's previous experience of blocking NATO ships from entering the Black Sea, it can be assumed that Ankara will prevent escalation this time as well.

As for sanctions, if the US and Turkey fail to reach an agreement, Erdogan may decide to follow the example of China and India and tell his American counterpart to go to hell. Cornered, he may reconsider his “friendship” with Trump. And the American president himself should think five times before hitting his ally for the sake of “punishing Russia.”

Türkiye could respond by pressuring the Americans and their Kurdish allies in Syria, Israel in Gaza,
…does he have leverage with Israel?
and by strengthening its strategic distancing from NATO in favor of BRICS and the SCO, which Ankara wants to join.

Pentagon announces massive migrant detention facility at Fort Bliss in Texas with 5,000 beds
[FoxNews] Construction began in July at Fort Bliss, Texas, with initial 1,000-bed capacity expected by late August

The Department of Defense plans to build the largest federal migrant detention facility in the U.S. to date, at Fort Bliss in Texas, which is expected to have up to 5,000 beds for illegal aliens.

Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson announced the project during a press briefing Thursday, stating that construction began in July.

"Since then, work has begun for initial detainment capacity of 1,000 illegal aliens with initial operating capacity likely to be achieved by mid to late August," Wilson said. "Once DOD achieves initial stand up, we will finish construction for up to 5,000 beds in the weeks and months ahead."

Wilson said the facility will become the largest of its kind in U.S. history, serving what she called "this critical mission: the deportation of illegal aliens."

The new facility is being established to support President Donald Trump’s executive order to protect Americans against an invasion.

The announcement follows Indiana Gov. Mike Braun’s recent statement that the state will build a facility dubbed the "Speedway Slammer" at the Miami Correctional Center, located between Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.
So this is the third one? Cool.
Named in reference to Indiana’s racing heritage, including the Indianapolis 500, the "Speedway Slammer" will house up to 1,000 migrants once operational.

White House launches federal security blitz as president vows to end DC 'crime plague'
[FoxNews] In an effort to crack down on crime in the nation’s capital, President Donald Trump is ramping up federal enforcement in Washington, D.C., and deploying additional federal law enforcement agents this week.

Backed by a March executive order, the White House, respective federal agencies and local officials will work together to drive down D.C. crime.

D.C. residents can expect an increase in federal enforcement starting as early as Friday, officials said.

"Washington, D.C., is an amazing city, but it has sadly been plagued by petty and violent crime for far too long," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital. "President Trump is committed to making our nation’s capital safer and even more beautiful for its residents, lawmakers, and visitors from all around the world."

Trump on Monday threatened to federalize Washington, D.C., calling for local minors and gang members over the age of 14 to be prosecuted as adults after a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee reported being violently beaten in the city by two juveniles.

A White House official told Fox News Digital the effort to revitalize the capital has been an ongoing priority for the president, who established the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force through the "Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful" executive order.

Federal officials will monitor D.C.’s sanctuary city status to ensure compliance with federal immigration law and support the full accreditation of the district’s forensic crime laboratory to aid local investigations.

The task force is also providing assistance to the city's Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to boost recruitment, retain officers and facilitate work with federal personnel to reduce crime.

Other areas of focus include expediting the concealed carry permitting process in D.C., ending fare evasion and other crimes within the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority system and reviewing prosecutorial policies on pretrial detention to ensure suspects who pose a genuine threat to public safety are detained.

Army razes home of Palestinian accused of aiding deadly Jaffa attack

…the deadly attack at a light rail station in the Jaffa area, although he -- and another suspect -- did not join the two terrorists on the night of the attack because they did not have guns, according to an indictment filed last year.

The military says troops operated in the West Bank city of Hebron overnight to raze Himouni's home.

The homes of the two terrorists who perpetrated the attack, Ahmed Himouni and Mohammad Mesek, were demolished by the army in March.

As a matter of policy, Israel demolishes the homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out deadly terror attacks.

Israel security cabinet approves plan to occupy Gaza City
[FoxNews] Security cabinet approves escalation after all-night meeting following Netanyahu's territorial control announcement

Israel’s security cabinet early Friday approved a plan to occupy Gaza City, marking an escalation in Israel's ongoing war against Hamas.

The announcement comes after an all-night meeting of the security cabinet, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement that Israel planned to retake control over the entire territory and eventually hand it off to friendly Arab forces opposed to Hamas.

"The Security Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister's proposal for defeating Hamas. The IDF will prepare for taking control of Gaza City while distributing humanitarian assistance to the civilian population outside the combat zones," read a post from the official X account of the Prime Minister of Israel.

The office said the Security Cabinet had adopted, by vote, five principles for concluding the war which include: the disarming of Hamas, the return of all hostages – living and deceased, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, Israeli security control in the Gaza Strip, and the establishment of an alternative civil administration that is neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority.

"A decisive majority of Security Cabinet ministers believed that the alternative plan that had been submitted to the Security Cabinet would neither achieve the defeat of Hamas nor the return of the hostages," the prime minister's office said.

Israel has bombarded Gaza City repeatedly since Oct. 7, 2023 massacre in addition to carrying out numerous raids. Today, it is one of the few areas of Gaza that hasn’t been turned into an Israeli buffer zone or placed under evacuation orders.

Hundreds of thousands have fled Gaza City since the start of the war, but many returned during a ceasefire earlier this year.

Asked in an interview with Fox News ahead of the Security Cabinet meeting if Israel would "take control of all of Gaza," Netanyahu replied: "We intend to, in order to assure our security, remove Hamas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza."

"We don't want to keep it. We want to have a security perimeter," Netanyahu said in the interview. "We want to hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly without threatening us and giving Gazans a good life."

The prospect of a full military occupation of Gaza comes 20 years after Israel's full disengagement from the enclave when, as part of the country's unilateral disengagement, the government forcibly removed around 8,600 Jewish residents from the area. Shortly after, Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections and staged a violent coup to overthrow the Palestinian Authority and seize control of the Gaza Strip.

#1  Germany Announces it is Suspending Military Exports ‘That Could be Used in the Gaza Strip’

“The even harsher military action by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, approved by the Israeli Cabinet last night, makes it increasingly difficult for the German government to see how these goals will be achieved,” he added. “Under these circumstances, the German government will not authorize any exports of military equipment that could be used in the Gaza Strip until further notice.”

Israel allowed four times fewer humanitarian aid vehicles into Gaza than the EU promised
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Israel has allowed four times fewer trucks with humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip than the European Union promised. This was reported on August 7 by the Euractiv portal, citing a document from the European Commission.
And by what right under international law does the EU make commitments for Israel?
“Between 31 July and 4 August, the UN and our partners report that 188 trucks were unloaded at crossing points into Gaza,” the document says.

However, that is significantly less than the roughly 800 trucks that an EU official says are supposed to be arriving in Gaza every five days under a deal recently reached by the EU's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, with Israel. Under that agreement, the details of which remain unclear, about 160 trucks of humanitarian aid are supposed to be arriving in Gaza every day.

According to the UN, between 500 and 600 trucks a day are needed to prevent further famine.

The document also notes that Israel claims 737 trucks passed through the two main crossings at Kerem Shalom and Zikim between July 31 and August 4. But the source says Israel includes commercial and GHF operations in its daily truck count.
