SecTreas Geithner today sent a letter to all members of Congress on the absolute necessity to raise the statutory debt limit. He wrote 'failure to raise the limit' would lead to have 'catastrophic economic consequences that would last for decades.' Has Timmy woke up and smelled the coffee? By no means. The letter is a choreographed step in the easily-anticipated kabuki dance of endless government expansion and extravagant spending while forcing the future to pay for it all. The GOP has its role to play next. The only real unknown in this charade is when the catastrophe will strike, and who will suffer the most. Timmy will suffer very little if anything besides hurt feelings.

Next step is for Boehner to suggest a hearing, for next week, in which Timmy could testify to the House about the need for the debt ceiling increase, and then be grilled about what he's doing to cut spending, where he'd cut, etc. That would be good theater.

TurboTax Timmy Warns of Catastrophe
SecTreas Geithner
I can hear the leftie screams from here in Virginia....
New Mexico, the only state besides California to move forward on comprehensive global warming regulations, is reversing course under a new Republican governor, Susana Martinez. The move threatens to cripple the Western Climate Initiative, a California-driven effort to enact a regional trading program to curb greenhouse gas emissions. You forgot to mention that it was implemented against the N.M. Legislature's and the citizens' wishes. Which the lefties consider a feature, not a bug.
Martinez, who replaced Democrat Bill Richardson, announced on Tuesday that she is removing all members of New Mexico's Environmental Improvement Board because of what she said was its "anti-business" policies. Good!
After a heated debate that ignored their duty to those pesky tax-paying citizens who nonetheless are expected to pay for it, the board last year approved measures to limit the emissions of the state's largest polluters and to join the regional cap-and-trade program.

One of the local news websites had postings of the usual greenies engaged in attack ad hominem calling the new governor part of the Texas oil mafia. Gee, choosing a future that looks like the imploding California redistributionist socialist state and Gaia religion or the practical sustainability of Texas is not going to much of contest. Jobs, energy, and revenue to support necessary government functions is a no brainer [which also explains the state of the knee jerk greenies].
Expect Eric to "need to spend more time with his family" Shed some light on these racist hacks, Lamar!

Man, the new congress is really not fucking around. They actually might get more done in the first 100 days than congress usually does in a year. I love the repeal bill that they put together to get rid of Obamacare. 2 pages long. That's it.

As the retiring White House press guy pointed out the other day, there is no way this bill is going to get through the Senate. Which is fine, its only purpose is shaping the public awareness portion of the battle space.

TW, I don't expect them to be able to repeal it before 2012, if even then. I expect them to keep sending it every quarter to the Senate, and maybe even to Obama's veto but that will keep it in the public's mind.
Defund will be the other way to keep it from happening until 2012.

ObamaCare's individual insurance mandate has been declared unconstitutional by Judge Henry Hudson.
Good. The House is playing hardball from the outset. They are going to turn over a lot of rocks that should be turned over. Let the light shine in. There is a lot at stake.

John, yes we do have an AG. Just not in the sense you're probably used to.

Obama keeps Holder on the downlow for the same reason he keeps his past associations with folks like Ayers and Wright on the downlow. The press doesn't want to have to cover his cronies, and Obama's just trying to help them not do their job.
House Democrats' goal is to make Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) the Speaker of the House again, their campaign chairman said Wednesday evening. YA RIGHT
Rep. Steve Israel (N.Y.), the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), set his goal as nothing short of winning back control of the House in the 2012 elections.

I'm guessing they're planning to make this the "Empire strikes back" period with Nancy as the one frozen in Carbonite. The problem is nobody would be able to tell when she's unfrozen.

on fox today, Megyn Kelly (who I lust after) said that 19 dems voted against her for the minority position - 10% of the House dems - highest number against in over 100yrs...She also spent the most time talking before turning over the gavel to Boner (sp error noted) - the woman is detestable in almost every facet of the game.

Mark the name and state of every Imbecile that voted for Nancy Pelosi. It means they are all dumber than Pelosi, and their district is even dumber. In essence, do them no business and no visit.
And Megyn rocks!!

Please have a look at chopping the NEA, Dept of Agriculture, NASA, Department of State, US AID, BATF, Fannie & Freddie, HUD, and CBC. When finished with these, I'll send additional.
A whistle-blowing agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has received a response to his Freedom of Information Act request to find out how much money the agency is spending with the private law firm of Delany, Siegel, Zorn & Associates to handle Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints against the bureau. He received back 15 redacted pages, a representative sample included as a photo in the sidebar.
So much for good faith transparency.
You wont find this story in any newspaper or network. The coverage comes to us from the Sipsey Street Irregulars blog as it follows developments on CleanUp ATF.org.
Then there's this: An ATF Special Agent who went undercover in the Hells Angels is compelled to inform a dozen U.S. Senators of his ongoing legal battle against ATF senior management, including some startling and disturbing (to put it mildly) allegations:
[I]n retaliation for a settlement with the government, ATF recalled covert identification documents from me and my wife, and as a Significant Investigative Report, obtained only through discovery, demonstrates, the Hells Angels became the lead suspects in discovering the location of my home and burning it down with my wife and children inside. In the process, ATF scuttled the investigation and let the suspects go, never even questioning them. ATF has taken the process of retaliation to a new level, letting go of suspects of attempted murder against an agents family.
The agents name is Jay Dobyns, and while the fire received some media coverage at the time (it's not like it could be missed), a Google News search turns up nothing at this writing to keep us informed of his continued legal struggle, and about the information he has amassed through depositions and document discovery pointing to official retaliation and obstruction of justice. If you want to find out more, again, you need to go to Sipsey Street Irregulars .
Heres some more raw information Ive received from different sources, presented with the caveat that it is unverified. With the pattern thats emerging, I feel justified in putting it out there for further scrutinyjust in case any Authorized Journalists out there feel like using the resources of their organizations to, you know, do their job.
Coming next will be more info on what the agents refer to as the Phoenix ATF office "walking across" ARs and AKs to pad their statistics and especially the one that may have killed the BP agent.
The new congress needs to defund the ATF, EPA, FCC. That alone would de-fang much of Emperor Obama's Royal Decrees presidential directives

Dream on. Congress could simply amend the EPA to exclude control of CO2 and H20 emissions, that would be great, but it won't happen either.

Read an article in one of the 2nd amendment sites this am about ATF fudging the numbers of Mexican guns coming from the US by "walking" the guns across the border. Not exactly sure what they meant but sounds like the admin.
Also, the emergency long gun (illegal - since Congress specifically prohibited them) registry they're trying to implement was described in offical AFT documents as a "pilot" program.
A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
