[Wash Examiner] Likely 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro agrees with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that tax rates on some of the wealthiest Americans should skyrocket.
"Oh, I can support folks at the top paying their fair share," Castro told ABC News' "This Week" on Sunday when asked directly whether he could endorse the high-profile New York Democrat's idea. "fair share" = "Give it all to us. Now go earn more so we can confiscate that too"
The Obama-era Housing and Urban Development secretary, who is expected to officially announce he's running for the White House this week, made the comments after Ocasio-Cortez caught flak for suggesting people earning more than $10 million could be taxed between "60 or 70 percent."
In offering support to Ocasio-Cortez, Castro provided historical context given the current highest marginal income tax bracket is 37 percent for those receiving more than $500,000 a year.
"There was a time in this country where the top marginal tax rate was over 90 percent, even during Reagan's era in the 1980s it was around 50 percent" the former mayor of San Antonio, Texas, said.
Castro also floated "that we get more serious about making sure the corporations pay their fair share," so the country can fund policy programs like "Medicare-for-All," as well as universal pre-kindergarten and higher education.
"During this campaign, if I run, I'm going to be very up front with the American people on how we would do that because I think that they are owed that, but it is worth it. It is worth it in this country for us to do that," he said, vowing not to be "a single issue candidate."
Castro additionally responded to criticism he didn't have the foreign policy experience to be the next occupant of the Oval Office. He said his time serving in former President Barack Obama's Cabinet and as San Antonio's mayor "certainly qualifies one to be commander in chief." *snort*
Last month Castro said he believed U.S. troops should be pulled from Syria though he would have handled the situation differently to President Trump. "And that would be?"
"Different"

90% tax is punishment for success and achievement. How about a 90% tax on bone-head left-wing politicians who use government for self-enrichment and a life time job.

various countries in Euro land are sometimes cited for high marginal income tax rates (e.g., Finland at 65%, Sweden at 70%) but these countries also have enormous Value Added Taxes in the 20% range
I wish the news anchors would ask lefties about the VAT also

And the same rich folk that tax would target would either avoid it or leave.

What the rich do to protect themselves then is to buy politicians, get a NYC phone book size exemptions, and employ accountants to insure they keep their assets. You corrupt the whole process. We live in it already. You just throw gasoline on the fire.

The discus? Apollo, don't risk it!
Appalling! It falls like a biscuit,
And, growing and growing...
Yo, Zephyr, quit blowing!
Oof! Right in the viscus... er, brisket.
[Independent] Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said there is "no question" that Donald Trump is racist.
The newly sworn-in Democratic congresswoman gave an unequivocal response after being questioned about the president during a CBS News interview.
Asked by Anderson Cooper if she believed Mr Trump "is a racist", she replied: "Yeah, yeah, no question.
"When you look at the words that he uses, which are historic dog whistles of white supremacy, when you look at how he reacted to the Charlottesville incident, where neo-Nazis murdered a woman, versus how he manufactures crises like immigrants seeking legal refuge on our borders, it’s night and day."
The 29-year-old Representative, who last week became the youngest woman elected to congress, said the president was "a symptom of the problem."
[Guardian] Donald Trump Jr and long-term Trump aide Roger Stone face a heightened threat of criminal charges as Democrats on Capitol Hill prepare to hand evidence to Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
They could be charged with perjury if there is evidence that they lied to Congress during interviews behind closed doors with the House intelligence committee.
The California Democrat Adam Schiff will take over leadership of the committee now that his party has control of the House, following victory in the midterm elections.
Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, Schiff made clear he would be handing over transcripts which had been withheld from Mueller’s investigation by Republicans when they controlled the panel.
The committee staged 73 interviews with dozens of witnesses, including Jared Kushner, Trump Jr and Stone. Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, has already pleaded guilty to perjury for lying to Congress over attempts to make a deal to construct a Trump Tower in Moscow.
Schiff said he was "trying to deconflict" with special counsel Mueller’s investigation because over the last two years the committee, under Republican leadership, had actively tried to make the special counsel’s work more difficult.

Yea right. Schiff would have never thought of leaking anything to Mueller's henchmen prior to the Dems taking the house.

^ Had to run that down (hoping it would be true, natch). Looks like Lahren and Surber, the only "names" involved (the only ones I noticed, anyway) have both deleted their posts on the subject.
