[LAW & NEWZ] U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement special agents announced the arrest in North Carolina of an at-large fugitive alien wanted for the brutal machete murder of two men back in Honduras.
According to a statement, ICE special agents captured and arrested Francisco Escobar-Orellana at his home in North Carolina as part of a targeted operation run by ICE Homeland Security Investigations teams. Escobar is wanted in his home country of Honduras for allegedly brutally slaying two men to death with a machete at a liquor store more than 20-years-ago in 1993.
Investigators say they do not know exactly when Escobar managed to illegally enter the United States, but it is now almost a sure thing that he’ll be heading back to Honduras to face justice for the 1993 killings.
"ICE is focused on identifying, arresting and removing public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens and gang members, as well as individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws," ERO Atlanta Field Office Director Sean Gallagher told reporters after the operation. "ICE Fugitive Operations Teams conduct targeted enforcement operations toward these identified threats to public safety. North Carolina residents are safer today thanks to the professionalism and hard work of these dedicated officers."
Mexico clenched its tiny fists reacted with anger on Wednesday to what one official called "hostile" new U.S. immigration guidelines hours before senior Trump administration envoys began arriving in Mexico City for talks on the volatile issue. Their 'unhappiness' clearly indicates the plan is working.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security unveiled plans on Tuesday to consider almost all illegal immigrants subject to deportation, and will seek to send many of them to Mexico if they entered the United States from there, regardless of nationality. The tension over the timing of the rules mirrors an outcry when President Donald Trump tweeted that Mexico should pay for his planned border wall shortly before Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto was due at a Washington summit in January.
One way or the other Mexico is going to be on the hook...
Trump, who took office last month, campaigned on a pledge to get tougher on the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States, playing on fears of violent crime while promising to build the wall and stop potential terrorists from entering the country.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson landed in Mexico City on Wednesday afternoon. He was due to be joined by Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly later for talks the White House said would "walk through" the implementation of Trump's immigration orders. Kelly signed the guidelines issued by his department on Monday.
Mexico's lead negotiator with the Trump administration, Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray, said there was no way Mexico would accept the new rules, which among other things seek to deport non-Mexicans to Mexico.
"I want to say clearly and emphatically that the government of Mexico and the Mexican people do not have to accept provisions that one government unilaterally wants to impose on the other," he told reporters at the Foreign Ministry.
I don't recall that you have much choice. This is an internal matter for us. We'll park the people on your side of the bridge there in Brownsville. The rest is up to you.
He said the issue would dominate the talks, taking place on Wednesday and Thursday. Mexico will insist that the United States proves the nationality of any person it wants to deport to Mexico, he said.
"We also have control of our borders and we will exercise it fully," he said, adding that Mexico was prepared to go the United Nations to defend the freedoms and rights of Mexicans under international law.
I don't recall international law giving Mexicans the right to immigrate illegally into the U.S., but perhaps I'm missing some codicil or something...
Roberto Campa, who heads the human rights department of the Interior Ministry, said the plan to deport non-Mexicans to Mexico was "hostile" and "unacceptable."
Senators for the leading leftist opposition party, the Party of the Democratic Revolution, said Tillerson and Kelly were not welcome in the country and they urged Pena Nieto not to meet with them.
Ok. We'll fly our people home. Deportations begin Monday...
In Washington, White House spokesman Sean Spicer described U.S.-Mexico ties as healthy and robust and said he expected a "great discussion."
"I think the relationship with Mexico is phenomenal right now," Spicer told reporters.
That's called burying the shiv...
Homeland Security's guidance to immigration agents is part of a broader border security and immigration enforcement plan in executive orders that the Republican president signed on Jan. 25.
In Guatemala on Wednesday, Kelly told Guatemalans the immigration crackdown ordered by Trump meant undocumented immigrants would be caught and sent back quickly, advising them to stay at home. He denied the administration was embarking on mass deportations.
Mexico's agenda at the talks on Thursday includes border infrastructure, deportation strategies, Central American migration, narcotics, arms trafficking and terrorism, and the North American Free Trade Agreement, a senior official with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

IOW they get back all their good, law-abiding citizens educated and cared for at the expense of the American taxpayer. If they're a boon the the economy here that ought to go double for what they could do for the Mexican economy when they get back. What's not to like if you're in charge of Mexico?

I do not recall any time in my life when Mexico was anything other than a hostile nation on our border. They seek to benefit themselves at our expense. I am at the point where I think an patrolled border with Mexico is needed. And not the Border Patrol; I'm thinking armored cav.

Hmmm....it appears 3-6th Cav is at Fort Bliss along with 1AD. It's a start. 1Cav is not too far up at Fort Hood.

I'm sure this is all for the Mexican people's consumption, but if they don't tone it down they will find Americans refusing to buy Mexican products, or products manufactured in Mexico and they'll be in real trouble.
Time for Mexico to change a few laws and allow foreign investment without all requirements that someone connected has to be involved. Watch investment flow in.
Time for Mexico to create a CCC type plan and employ their people to pave a superhighway system and fix up the regional highways.
Time for Mexico to start pushing their people to get educated.
Mexico can be first world. They just need to act, even if it might be a rocky road ahead.

If you ever want to see Mexican respect for the US on display at the border, go to San Diego and walk along the fence line and see the tens of thousands of bags of garbage that they throw across the border into the US.
A total of three soldiers, two Ukrainians and one rebel, were wounded in ongoing artillery fire exchanges in Donetsk, according to Russian and Ukrainian language news accounts.
According to a news account published in lb.ua, two Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in an artillery fire strike, but the report did not elaborate on the locations of the soldiers.
Meanwhile, the Russian backed rebel government of Donetsk reported in an official news release Wednesday that a single soldier was wounded by Ukrainian artillery fire. The rebel report also did not note where the soldier was wounded.
According to various reports, both sides are trying to seek a solution to yet another ceasefire, "quiet mode" as it is commonly known in the region, but so far both sides have managed only to trade charges in addition to artillery fire.
The lb.ua report goes on to note that rebel artillery struck Ukrainian positions at Lebinsokoye and Shirokino Wednesday morning using 122mm tube and rocket artillery platforms. Rebel 82mm mortar fire was reported at Luganskoye, near western Donetsk city.
Rebel media reported that Ukrainian mortar fire was recorded hitting rebel positions Wednesday morning at Yasinovataya, east of Donetsk city, and in Leninskoye and Kominternovo near the coast of the Sea of Azov, near Mariupol. Rebel media also noted Ukrainian small arms gunfire in numerous locations along the line of contact.

North Korea appeared to lash out at Beijing in a state-media commentary published Thursday, aiming unusually pointed rhetoric at a powerful neighbor that Pyongyang has long relied on for economic and diplomatic support.
The commentary, published by the state-controlled Korean Central News Agency, didn't name China but left little doubt about its target: "a neighboring country, which often claims itself to be a ‘friendly neighbor'."
The article lambasted China for playing down North Korea's nuclear capabilities and for curbing foreign trade‐an apparent reference to China's weekend announcement that it would suspend coal imports from North Korea for the rest of the year.

No signs of cardiac arrest or puncture wounds were found on the body of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Malaysia's director-general of health, Hisham Abdullah, told reporters Tuesday that the cause of death remains unknown and samples taken from Kim Jong-nam's body were sent to a research center for analysis. Abdullah stressed that the post-mortem was carried out scientifically and according to proper procedures, refuting claims of a cover-up by the North Korean ambassador.
He added the entire autopsy was conducted under the watch of seasoned forensic pathologists, radiologists and forensic dentists, and a full-body scans, autopsy and dental examinations were carried out in a "respectful way."
But he denied reports of a second autopsy. "There's been no second autopsy performed on the deceased person," since the first one on Feb. 17, two days after Kim was apparently assassinated with a toxic liquid at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Abdullah added that none of Kim's family have appeared for DNA testing to verify the identity of the deceased, indirectly refuting media reports that Kim's son Han-sol arrived in Malaysia to identify the body. The Chinese-language Oriental Daily quoted local police as saying media claims of Kim Han-sol's arrival were false.
Meanwhile, Japan's Jiji Press cited a source as saying that three of the four North Korean suspects in Kim Jong-nam's assassination had returned to Pyongyang, but the whereabouts of a fourth, O Jong-gil (55), remain unclear. Jiji said O, who is thought to have masterminded the crude hit, may have escaped to Thailand or Laos.

O, who is thought to have masterminded the crude hit
[SCMP] North Korea had few friends even before the liquidation of the leader’s half-brother at a Kuala Lumpur airport last week, but the fallout from the killing looks set to further isolate the nuclear-armed state.
Pyongyang and Kuala Lumpur have enjoyed relatively warm economic ties, with some bilateral trade and citizens from both countries entitled to travel to the other under a unique reciprocal visa-free deal.
Malaysia has also provided a channel between Pyongyang officials and the wider world, with Kuala Lumpur in recent years serving as a discreet meeting place for talks between the regime and the US.
But all that could come to an end following a war of words over Malaysia’s probe into the liquidation of Kim Jong-nam, which has seen Pyongyang’s envoy to Kuala Lumpur savage local police, and Malaysia recall its ambassador to the North.
Singapore cancelled its visa-free arrangement with Pyongyang last year in protest over the regime’s fourth nuclear test. Andray Abrahamian of Choson Exchange, a charity that provides economic policy training to North Koreans, believes Malaysia could now make a similar move.
"It wouldn’t surprise me. The arrangement is already absolutely unique. North Koreans don’t need a visa to work in Mongolia, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos. But the Malaysian side is the unusual thing," he said.
Malaysia and North Korea are both non-aligned nations and the one-off visa deal was likely hashed out as they sought to develop business ties, he said.

[SCMP] Detectives probing the liquidation of Kim Pudge Jong-un ...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished... ’s half-brother want to question a North Korean diplomat, Malaysia’s top policeman said on Wednesday.
Investigators have put five North Koreans in the frame for last week’s brazen killing of Kim Jong-nam at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and have said they are seeking three more for questioning.
They include the embassy’s second secretary, Hyon Kwang-song, as well as a North Korean airline employee called Kim Uk-il, Khalid Abu Bakar told news hounds.
"We have written to the ambassador to allow us to interview both of them. We hope that the Korean embassy will cooperate with us and allow us to interview them quickly. If not, we will compel them to come to us," he said.
Investigators also revealed that attempts were made to break into the morgue where Jong-nam’s body is being held, casting further suspicion on Pyongyang’s role in the killing.
"We knew there were attempts by someone to break into the hospital mortuary. We had to take precautions. We will not allow anyone to tamper with the mortuary," Khalid said.
Jong-nam died on February 13 after being attacked as he waited for a plane to Macau.
Leaked CCTV footage from the airport shows the chubby 45-year-old being approached by two women, one of whom grabs him from behind and appears to shove a cloth in his face.
Moments later Jong-nam is seen seeking help from airport staff, who direct him to a clinic, where he apparently slumped in a chair.
Malaysian police say he suffered a seizure and died before he reached hospital, seemingly from the effects of a toxin.
Seoul has said from the start that Pyongyang was behind the murder, citing a "standing order" from Jong-un to kill his elder sibling, and a failed liquidation bid in 2012.
Asked whether the five North Korean suspects had criminal masterminded the attack, Khalid said he believed they were "heavily involved" in the murder.
Four of the men fled the country on the day of the killing and returned to Pyongyang, he said, while one remains in jug in Malaysia.

[SCMP] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... ’s army is lifting a historic ban on female officers wearing the Islamic headscarf in the officially secular country, the state-run Anadolu news agency said on Wednesday.
The move, ordered by the defence ministry, applies to female officers working in the general staff and command headquarters and branches, it said. Women may wear the headscarf underneath their cap or beret so long as it is the same colour as their uniform and does not cover their faces.
The reform will come into force once it is published in the official gazette. It was not immediately clear if it applied to women on combat missions. It will also apply to female cadets.
The ruling Islamic-rooted Justice and Development Party (AKP) co-founded by President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... has long pressed for the removal of restrictions on women wearing the headscarf.

[President Hillary Rodham Clinton] WASHINGTON D.C. -- Politico is reporting that the U.S. House of Representatives is back on track debating criminal justice reform thanks to a courageous Senate page, who discovered House Speaker Paul Ryan's missing Adderall prescription in a trash bin.
Ryan apparently misplaced his precious prescription yesterday afternoon while pumping iron in the Senate gymnasium. On realizing he had lost his stash of doctor-approved amphetamine, Ryan allegedly became frantic, saying "Ayn Rand will never love me!" and crying "How am I supposed to read my own budget? How?"
Within hours, the crisis escalated, until the entire legislative branch of the government found itself unable to function.
"We were only saved by the Senate pages," said Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, shuddering.
Senator Kamala Harris said the Senate pages "saved the republic" by staging an impromptu emergency search and rescue party, trawling through trash bins, couch cushions and bathrooms until they found the Speaker's beloved medication idling in a trash can.
"Whichever janitor put the Speaker's Adderall in the trash - I just hope they don't get fired," said Pelosi.
Fox News Channel's Alan Colmes has passed away at age 66 after a brief illness.
Colmes leaves behind his wife, Jocelyn Crowley, who issued the following statement:
Alan Colmes passed away this morning after a brief illness. He was 66-years-old. He leaves his adoring and devoted wife, Jocelyn Elise Crowley. He was a great guy, brilliant, hysterical, and moral. He was fiercely loyal, and the only thing he loved more than his work was his life with Jocelyn. He will be missed. The family has asked for privacy during this very difficult time.
Bill Hemmer announced the sad news this morning on "America's Newsroom," which then aired a tribute package from Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity, his former co-host on "Hannity & Colmes."
In a statement this morning, Hannity called Alan Colmes "one of life's most decent, kind and wonderful people you'd ever want to meet."

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq announced on Wednesday a new major oil reserve discovery that could add a daily production surge of 1000 cubic meters.
Quoted by media, Karim Hattab, director-general at the Iraqi Oil Exploration Company, said exploratory drilling by Japanese oil firm INPEX and Russian firm Lukoil in the Mishrif horizon, in the southern province of Basra, found production potential worth 1000 cubic meters a day.
The newly-spotted discovery is located within an exploration site that had added ten million barrles to Iraq’s oil reserve, according to Hattab.
In a statement, INPEX, which holds a 40% participating interest in the field through INPEX South Iraq, Ltd., a subsidiary, said "as a result of this exploratory drilling campaign, INPEX and LUKOIL discovered a highly productive oil reservoir in the Mishrif horizon with a confirmed production volume capacity of more than 8,000 barrels per day from crude oil production tests that were subsequently conducted.
The statement added that "based on these results, INPEX and LUKOIL expect there will be a high probability of discovering a large oil field depending on the evaluation results of additional exploration activities."
Iraq is OPEC’s second largest oil producer, following Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... . It had pledged to cut 210.000 barrels of its daily production to 4.35 million barrels starting January in line with an historic OPEC members agreement reached in a Vienna meeting in December. It had previously been reluctant to take the move citing its terrorism-battered economy. OPEC took the move in an attempt to prop up falling oil prices.

1000 cubic meters per day = 6290 barrels. A pretty good well or field that will likely taper off following initial production.

[Ynet] In a welcome sign of normality, the first indoor shopping mall--complete with an international retail chain, three-story bookstore and bustling food court--has opened in the Gazoo Strip.
The owners have overcome conflict and an Israeli-Egyptian blockade to build the gleaming 1,800 square meter (19,000 sq. feet) Capital Mall. Now, they just have to find enough free-spending customers to keep the place afloat.
In many ways, the center is a reflection of the fragile local economy, which has been flooded by consumer goods from Israel that few people can afford. Stifled by the blockade, Gazoo produces very little on its own, and poverty and unemployment have soared. The mall, like the rest of electricity-starved Gazoo, requires a generator to keep the power flowing.
In the short term, the mall appears to be thriving. Thousands of Gazooks have visited as it slowly opened in recent weeks, buying shoes and clothes from the Turkish chain De Facto, searching for gifts and school supplies in the bookstore and heading up to the fourth-floor food court to enjoy burgers, pizza and ice cream. People can often be seen stumbling and giggling as they ride an escalator for the first time.
Here is video of the first ever Gaza Mall (9,700 square feet) in 2010. And an article with photos of the inaugural celebrations of the 3,000 square meter Al Andalusia Mall in 2011, with swimming pool and cinema.
What books do they stock? 3 thousand different versions of their one book? Perhaps an harlequin style book or many, where the main protagonist falls in love and has a whirlwind romantic with his goat?

The location of North Luis Munoz Marin Drive is in Humboldt Park. That neighborhood has seen a total of 20 shootings this year... 17 wounded and 3 killed. Oscar Lopez Rivera Street seems darkly appropriate for one of the deadliest neighborhoods in Chicago.
Chicago is considering naming a street after Oscar Lopez Rivera, the domestic terrorist who founded the FALN terror group responsible for killing six people and perpetrating some 130 bombings and terror attacks on U.S. soil between 1974 and 1983.
Twenty-sixth Ward Alderman Robert Maldonado submitted a proposal to name a three-block stretch of North Luis Munoz Marin Drive after the convicted terrorist early in February. The proposal was quickly pushed through ahead of new rules that would prevent people who are still living from having a Chicago street named after them.
Alderman Maldonado attempted to claim that the new street name is not meant to honor the FALN terror outfit but is only meant to honor Rivera. Others note that it is farcical to claim you are honoring a man whose only claim to fame is in starting a terror group while pretending you are not also honoring the terror group.
Joe Connor, the son of a man killed by a FALN terror attack in 1975, was furious at the move to honor his father’s murderer, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
"He is a sworn terrorist," Connor said. "He was convicted of bombings in Chicago that did injure people. He tried to escape from prison with machine guns and plastic explosives where he was gonna kill the guards. ... And Chicago is gonna put up a sign in his honor?"

Oh... so we can blow up the city hall now and claim it is for social justice?
[BBC] The Trump administration will rescind guidance enacted by his predecessor in favour of transgender students, the White House has said.
The Obama-era rule directed public schools to allow transgender pupils to use toilets of their gender identity. But critics said that guidance was government overreach which threatened other students' privacy and safety.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Mr Trump firmly believes "this is a states' rights issue".
"I would expect further guidance to come out on that today," he told a news conference.
Though the Obama-era order will be rescinded, anti-bullying safeguards are expected to remain in place, the AP news agency reported, citing a government official.
