The investigation, apparently, had nothing to do with the acts of bravery that earned Golsteyn his medal. Instead, according to the Washington Post, which cited officials familiar with the case, it concerned “an undisclosed violation of the military’s rules of engagement(A more contemporary term than "Catch 22?" - HG) in combat for killing a known enemy fighter and bomb maker.” The investigation stretched on for nearly two years, during which time the Army effectively put Golsteyn’s career on ice. In 2014, Golsteyn and his lawyer were informed that the investigation was finally complete. No charges were filed, but Golsteyn still wasn’t released from administrative limbo."

Golsteyn has been critical of the Afghanistan mission in the past. In the 2011 Bing West book “The Wrong War: Grit, Strategy and the Way Out of Afghanistan,” he is quoted as saying that the Americans were considered insurgents in Afghanistan who were “selling a poor product called the Kabul government.”

No. That's not true. Boss Tweed wasn't elected to anything... Councilman Vincent Orange, a Democrat, argues that Barry is a worthy namesake for the University of the District of Columbia because he was the school's "biggest champion" during his life.
"Marion Barry is an individual who should be properly honored, but also should be studied, should be researched, just like you would with Ronald Reagan or [George W.] Bush," Orange said on Tuesday, according to The Washington Post. "For the District of Columbia, this guy really had a major footprint in the city."
His proposal wouldn't just rename the school, but would also try to make it tuition-free, in line with a similar national proposal made by Barack Obama Dreams of My Sainted Father... during his most recent State of the Union address.
Barry is one of the most notable figures in D.C. history, serving two stints as mayor from 1979 to 1991 and from 1995 to 1999. He died last November at the age of 78, while still serving on D.C.'s city council.

We (Va.) got our part back, AH. (Extrapolate the straight lines of this map to complete the lower left-hand side of the diamond outlining DC's borders - that would show DC's original borders before they returned the VA. portion and took the Potomac as the border on that side.) I'd like for Md. to take back the Md. portion, but good luck getting them to do it if it includes the inhabitants. Even they're not that stupid. :-(

At least if they gave DC back to Maryland, the DC residents could stop whining about taxation without representation.
I agree with Barbara, though - most of the successful DC residents have moved out of DC to Maryland already. (Except the northwest section of DC - Georgetown, etc.)
