"Up until this moment that I am speaking, Afghan forces have been in defense mode respecting the (US-Taliban) deal and following the president’s decree... Hamdok said he was in “good shape” and that what had happened would be “an additional push to the wheel of change in Sudan”, where he heads a transitional government following the overthrow last year of long-time President Omar al-Bashir.
Hamdok’s government is struggling to manage a severe economic crisis that triggered months of protests against Bashir and continued after his downfall in April.
Three witnesses told Reuters the attack happened near the northern entrance to the Kober bridge, which crosses the Blue Nile from Khartoum North to the city center, where Hamdok’s office is located.
The convoy appeared to have been targeted from above, they said. State radio said it had been hit by gunfire and a projectile, while state television said it had been targeted by a car bomb.
“I saw the moment of the explosion and the strike, and the strike came from a high building,” one witness said.
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Saudi authorities Sunday cordoned off the eastern region of Qatif, a centre of the kingdom's Shiite minority, in a bid to contain the fast-spreading coronavirus as the total number of cases rose to 11.
The lockdown on Qatif, home to around 500,000 people, is the first action of its kind across the Gulf region that has confirmed more than 230 coronavirus cases -- most of them people returning from religious pilgrimages to Shiite-majority Iran.
"Given that all 11 recorded positive cases of the new coronavirus are from Qatif... it has been decided... to temporarily suspend entry and exit from Qatif," the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.
Except for essential services such as pharmacies and gas stations, work will stop in all government and private institutions in Qatif, the statement added.
The lockdown, although the ministry said it was temporary, risks fuelling resentment in the flashpoint region whose residents have long accused the Sunni-dominated government of discrimination, a charge Riyadh denies.
Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... 's Eastern Province -- which includes Qatif -- has seen bouts of unrest since 2011 when protesters emboldened by the Arab Spring uprisings erupted into the streets.
Saudi Arabia has condemned arch-rival Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... for allowing its citizens entry without stamping their passports.
The Saudi government has reminded its nationals of a standing ban on travel to Iran, as the two countries are locked in a battle for regional supremacy.
[BREITBART] Four "Asian" men have been found guilty for their roles in sexually grooming a 15-year-old girl, who the court heard the men passed around like a "piece of meat".
The four grooming gang members ‐ Shangar Ibrahimi, Kawan Omar Ahmed, Jasim Mohammed, and Nzar Anwar ‐ were found guilty of rape. Another man, Saba Mohammed, was found guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. The men were convicted at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday and will appear in court on Friday 13 March to be sentenced.
The court was told by the prosecution that the men used the 15-year-old girl, now in her twenties, as a "piece of meat" and that she was "nothing more than an object" to them. The court heard that the rapists were "able to use and abuse her sexually for their own sexual gratification", reports the Birmingham Mail.
A total of ten men were on trial for the sexual abuse of the teenage girl, who "was systematically groomed and exploited between 2010 and 2012
...things’ll get interesting when they start arresting rape jihadis for their activities committed more recently than a decade ago...
when she was aged 15-16" ‐ but only five of the men were convicted.
Detective Inspector Rob Platts, the Senior Investigating Officer in the case, said: "The bravery of the victim has resulted in the conviction of five very dangerous offenders for serious sexual offences. While the jury found some of the defendants not guilty of the charges faced, their decision has to be respected."
"The overall outcome demonstrates the complexity of these prosecutions and does not detract from the numerous guilty verdicts against five offenders."
"She had to recount incredibly traumatic incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation in front of the jury over several days and it is testament to her bravery that she elected to do this in person. I am so pleased her voice has been heard."
The grooming gang members would dose their young victim with alcohol and drugs, before subjecting her to sexual abuse and rape.
"At the time of the offending, the victim was incredibly vulnerable and was deliberately targeted for the purposes of sexual exploitation," DI Platts explained.
"It is difficult to put into words the damage and impact of sexual exploitation on children, but I hope that by hearing this brave woman’s account, other victims of this awful crime find the strength to come forward and tell someone what has happened or is happening to them," he added.

Normally I would not link to The Independent, Robert Fisk's newspaper of record, but at least they had the cojones to report an estimate of 19,000 British girls being "groomed" over the last year. It took a bit of looking to find that article.

[Daily Mail UK] President Erdogan called on Greece to 'open the gates' for migrants trying to reach Europe at Turkey's border ahead of his talks with the EU on Monday.
Thousands of migrants have arrived at Turkey's border with Greece since Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced last month that the country would no longer prevent migrants and refugees from crossing over to Europe.
Elsewhere, a blaze ripped through a refugee centre on the Greek island of Lesbos - the second fire at an installation built for migrants after a reception centre was burned down last Monday.
Tensions have also continued to grow at the land border, where asylum seekers gathered between the Kastanies and Pazarkule border gates were today photographed throwing tear gas canisters back at Greek security forces.
A video released by the Greek government also appears to show a Turkish armoured vehicle attempting to pull down part of the border fence with a rope, though the authenticity of the clip could not immediately be verified.
[BREITBART] Ottoman Turkish police used drones to organise attacks against Greek security forces tasked with protecting the nation’s borders from thousands of migrants colonists attempting to illegally cross into the country, according to reports.
On Friday, Greek security forces were bombarded with smoke bombs and tear gas fired from the Ottoman Turkish side of the border at the Kastanies checkpoint on the Evros river. It is now alleged that Ottoman Turkish police used drones to co-ordinate the onslaught upon Greek security forces.
During the attack, members of the Ottoman Turkish police force were seen handing out wire cutters to migrants colonists to help them cut through the border fence separating the two countries, according to the Greek Reporter.
The escalation in violence at the border follows the decision by the Islamist president of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... , His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important... , to "open the gates" to migrants colonists attempting to enter Europe ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...

Remember the "pitch-back" setup for playing catch with yourself? Maybe something like that to send those tear gas canisters back in the direction they came from?

Speaking of pitchback, back in the Berkeley riot days of the 60s, protesters used to get rubber tubing, with a leather pocket, and make a 3-person crew served sling shot to shoot tear gas canisters and other ordinance back on the riot police. It was an effective countermeasure.

[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Ottoman Turkish police used tear gas to disperse a few dozen women who were still in central Istanbul after trying to march on Sunday evening to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Rootersnews hounds saw the crowd, which was originally few hundred women, at the edge of Taksim Square holding banners and waving flags. The police formed a human blockade to stop them from entering Istiklal Street, the district’s main pedestrian avenue.
A large part of the crowd dispersed as they were not allowed to march on Istiklal Street.
Istanbul’s governor Ali Yerlikaya decided to close down Taksim metro station and parts of nearby Sishane station and said all roads leading to main square would be blocked.
"All roads leading to Taksim Square and Istiklal Street will be closed as these places are not classified as designated areas for assembly and demonstrations according to law," the governor’s office said in a statement.
The government did allow some activities by non-governmental organizations to celebrate International Women’s Day around the city, the statement said. But it said the gathering in Istiklal Street was not granted a permit.
Last year, on International Women’s Day, the police had fired tear gas to break up a crowd of women who had gathered for a march.

Although... that always seems to me a mighty big Turk, or a rather small gun. Studio prop? One size fits all? "Golly, doesn't little Mehmet look ferocious!" like?
Clever uniform design makes him look much bigger than he is, just like the mustache makes him look fiercer. Look at where his left shoulder really is, relative to the padded shoulder of that ornamental slit sleeve.
