The deadly violence in Marib province left at least 38 fighters dead, according to officials who spoke with the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.
After more than three months of relative calm, the Iran-aligned Houthis are advancing on the oil rich-provinces of Marib and Jawf.
Earlier this month, the Houthis took control of Hazm, the capital of Jawf province in northern Yemen, in a major setback to the Saudi-backed government. The festivities in Jawf displaced around 70,000 people to neighboring Marib province, according to the International Red Thingy.
Political analyst and Sanaa-based researcher Abdul-Bari Taher says the fighting has reached a tipping point.

After a migrant tested positive for coronavirus at the facility in Suhl, Thuringia, a quarantine was ordered for the other 533 residents and the camp was sealed off.
"But the measure, which in times of Corona seems not at all unusual, apparently drove the asylum seekers to a fury," reports Compact Online. "Some of them started rioting and prevented inmates from entering the dining hall in order to force a hunger strike. They are said to have tried to leave the facility through the sewers to get to the nearby town."
According to police front man Wolfgang Nicola, the migrants colonists then gathered at the front gate and began threatening to burn down the facility while displaying ISIS flags.

[DAWN] A lieutenant, two sepoys and a lance havaldar were martyred while seven bad boyz were potted in an operation on a holy warrior hideout near Datta Khel, North Wazoo, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
Those martyred include 26-year-old Lt Agha Muqadas Ali Khan, 36-year-old Lance Havaldar Qamar Nadeem, 24-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Qasim and 23-year-old Sepoy Touseef.
According to the military's media wing, security forces had conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Mama Ziarat after receiving confirmed reports of a holy warrior hideout in the area. An exchange of fire took place between the troops, who had cordoned the area, and the terrorists, who were trying to escape.
One soldier was also injured, ISPR said in its statement.
The armed forces recovered a "large cache" of weapons, improvised bombs and ammunition from the hideout after it was cleared, the statement added.
