[FOX] Former Obama White House Counsel and Clinton-linked attorney Greg Craig may soon be charged by the Justice Department for engaging in illegal unregistered overseas lobbying, in a case initially probed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller -- a development that would make him the first Democrat to face prosecution amid the long-running Russia investigation.
The case centers on lobbying work that Craig performed in 2012 for the Russian-backed president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, while Craig was a partner at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Craig allegedly never registered as a foreign agent under a U.S. law known as the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, which requires lobbyists to declare publicly if they represent foreign leaders, governments or their political parties.
FARA violations were only rarely prosecuted until Mueller took aim at Paul Manafort, President Trump's former campaign chairman, for his lobbying work in Ukraine. Manafort, who connected Craig with Yanukovych, has been convicted on numerous bank and tax fraud charges, and was separately accused of FARA violations as well. He was sentenced earlier this month to approximately seven years in prison.
Craig left Skadden last year as his work with Manafort became public. In January, Skadden agreed to cooperate with the DOJ's registration requirements and paid $4.6 million in a settlement to avoid a criminal prosecution. "We have learned much from this incident and are taking steps to prevent anything similar from happening again," the firm said in a statement at the time.

Sounds like his job was to defend the indefensible. That must get tedious. My sympathies to his family.

from the article: He was known as an expert on the labor market who argued that raising minimum wage did not slow hiring
That seems a bit counter-intuitive. Generally, when you make something more expensive, you get less of it. Makes me wonder if there is some journalistic spin in "did not slow hiring" - for example, it didn't slow hiring, but a lot of people got laid off or had their hours cut.
And while I'm generally suspicious of statistical arguments, shouldn't we be accustomed by now to people around the Clintons being found unexpectedly dead?

He was known as an expert on the labor market who argued that raising minimum wage did not slow hiring
A counterintuitive but arguable claim until the experiment was run in, I think, Seattle, and currently in New York City. In both cases not only has hiring in the lower wage groups dropped, but the number of those employed in minimum wage jobs was actively reduced following the increase in the minimum wage. In brief, they fired ‘em and didn’t hire replacements.

the article and various other new summaries do not do a good job of discussing Krueger's work on the minimum wage
he was studying what could be called marginal increases, say from $7 to $7.5 and not the increases from 10 to 15
these have some different dynamics because in the .50 cent increases, the businesses have the slack to raise prices a few cents and cut back on fancy napkins, etc. while in the case of the $5 increase, the business require major restructuring of their cash outlays

[Deseret News Utah] SALT LAKE CITY ‐ Sen. Mitt Romney chastised President Donald Trump on Tuesday for the latest denigrating remarks he made about the late Arizona Sen. John McCain.
"I can’t understand why the President would, once again, disparage a man as exemplary as my friend John McCain: heroic, courageous, patriotic, honorable, self-effacing, self-sacrificing, empathetic, and driven by duty to family, country, and God," the Utah Republican tweeted.
During an Oval Office meeting with Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro on Tuesday, Trump was asked about his recent tweets about McCain. The president responded that he's "very unhappy" that McCain voted against repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act in 2017.
"I was never a fan of John McCain, and I never will be," Trump told reporters.
In a series of tweets over the weekend, Trump hit McCain for his handling of a dossier compiled by a former British spy on Trump's relationship with Russia leading up to the 2016 election.
"So it was indeed (just proven in court papers) 'last in his class' (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election," Trump tweeted on Sunday. "He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!"
Romney posted a nearly 500-word essay about his one-time political rival on his Senate campaign website after McCain died last August.

Let me go on record as chastising Mitt Romney for disparaging the sitting president of his own party when he should be helping him build the wall insead.

Trump didn't call him NoName. Trump's got good reasons for his disgust--how about NoName's complicity in the dirty faked dossier, Hillary and the DNC cooked up to get rid of Trump. Treasonous. The Pubs got rid of Flake and Corker and got Romney. A lose-lose deal. With Pubs like this who needs Dems?
I dunno. I wasn't there. But some of the things I read are not good.
And now it seems that Romney wants to take the Maverick mantle upon himself. But all that means is , when the vote is really important, you can count on Romney to screw it up the same way that McCain always did.

So the facts are showing he WAS responsible for a part of the fake dossier event. Dead or alive, he cause millions in wasted dollars and criminal disruption to our constitutional electoral process. A traitor is a traitor, dead or alive.
