[Libya Observer] The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) has denounced the escalation of statements uttered by "Madkhalists" in Benghazi after they had recently called the Libyan Public Scout and Girl Guide Movement as well as Sufis non-believers.
NCHRL said on Monday that the imam of al-Arqam bin Abi al-Arqam mosque in Benghazi described the Public Scout and Girl Guide Movement last Friday as the byproduct of the "infidel west" and its "non-believing laws" warning of allowing children to join the movement.
"We denounce and reject this description and the verbal horrification and incitement that is part of the terrorist ideology used by the Madkhalists via mosques, fatwas and other manners." NCHRL added.
It remarked that Madkhalist groups took advantage of the absence of state institutions that would in normal times educate people on the perils such an ideology as theirs can create in the society and its freedom of thinking, religious practices and political practices as well.
"This is also a violation of international conventions and the International Declaration for Human Rights as well as a form of ideological terror." NCHRL indicated.
It accused Madkhalists of spreading an imported ideology inside the Libyan societies and thus jeopardize peacefulness and security in the country.
Madkhalism - a form of Salafism - has been on the rise in Libya especially in the areas under Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... against Haftar's opposition.
Earlier, the east-based Awqaf Authority was involved in controversy and exchange of accusations with many parties in Libya; the latest was the eastern Interim Government, due to murderous Moslem fatwas made by imams and religious holy mans calling social and religious figures across Libya infidels.
[Al Jazeera] Mohammed bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi's crown prince, proposed to set up an liquidation programme targeting top Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... leaders during a meeting with the top US diplomat earlier this year, the Middle East Eye (MEE) news website has reported.
The crown prince made the offer during Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to the UAE on January 12 amid disagreements over the progress of peace talks between US and Taliban negotiators, MEE reported on Thursday, citing to a source with detailed knowledge of the meeting.
According to the source, bin Zayed told Pompeo that Washington risked allowing Afghanistan to fall back into the hands of the "backward, bearded bad guys" and proposed hiring mercenaries to kill Taliban leaders to weaken the group's negotiating position.
Pompeo was visibly taken aback by the offer, but said nothing, the source reportedly said.
The UAE has supported US efforts to broker a peace deal with the Taliban, and hosted a first round of negotiations between the two sides late last year in Abu Dhabi.
But bin Zayed is believed to have been frustrated that subsequent rounds of negotiations were moved to Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. [FoxNews] The U.K. government agency in charge of immigration has come under fire for denying political asylum to an Iranian convert to Christianity and explaining its decision on its contention that the religion is not peaceful.
The Iranian man had said in his asylum petition that he converted to Christianity because it was a "peaceful" religion.
The U.K. Home Office, which oversees immigration and passports, among other things, sent the Iranian national a letter that said the book of Revelations is "filled with imagery of revenge, destruction, death and violence," according to the Independent.
It cited excerpts from the Bible, according to the newspaper, and added: "These examples are inconsistent with your claim that you converted to Christianity after discovering it is a peaceful; religion, as opposed to Islam which contains violence, rage and revenge."
"The Home Office is notorious for coming up with any reason they can to refuse asylum and this looks like a particularly creative example, but not necessarily a systemic outbreak of anti-Christian sentiment in the department." Was the Home Office official named Moohammad or Barry O.? Continued on Page 47

The book of Revelation should have been dumped as apocrypha by the 3rd-4th century scholarly, end-of-the world folks, during their several get-togethers in Asia Minor.
[DAWN] Dutch prosecutors say they will charge the main suspect in a deadly tram shooting that took place in Utrecht with offences including multiple murder or manslaughter with a terrorist intent.
In a statement on Thursday, the public prosecutor's office in Utrecht says that the suspect, identified by police as 37-year-old Gokmen Tanis, also faces charges of attempted murder or manslaughter and making threats with a terrorist intent.
Prosecutors say that investigations so far into Monday's shooting in a tram in the central city of Utrecht that left three dead and three seriously injured indicate that the shooter acted alone.
The statement adds that investigations continue into whether the suspect's actions "flowed from personal problems combined with a radicalised ideology."
Tanis is to appear before an investigating judge on Friday. Such hearings are held behind closed doors.
[Rudaw] The United States may soon halt talks on the sale of its F-35 multirole fighter jets to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the most dubious NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure.... ally.... , if the NATO member continues to pursue a Russian-made missile defense system, a Pentagon brasshat has said.
"The S-400 is a computer. The F-35 is a computer. You don’t hook your computer to your adversary’s computer and that’s basically what we would be doing," Katie Wheelbarger, the acting assistant secretary of the Department of Defense for international security affairs, told Rooters.
The Ottoman Turkish Air Force is currently training at an airfield in the United States, and state-run Anadolu Agency reports the first two F-35s are set to be delivered in November.
However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... Ankara's insistence on obtaining the S-400 system from Russia has US officials reconsidering the sale.

The US has slow-walked Turkish expulsion from NATO in the belief it would soon be followed by Germany leaving, and then France. This would result, some believe, in a "hollow shell" in Europe. Others see the departures as inevitable and the re-creation of NATO as necessary in order to surround and minimize Germany's fascist inevitability.

How about NATO and Russia put on a demonstration by attacking Turkey?
That would be amusing. I suspect there are still some bad feelings over that Russian pilot who got shot down when he strayed over Turkey and then killed on the ground.
[DAWN] Another case of polio ...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set... virus has cropped up in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, bringing the number of cases reported in the province in 2019 to three, the National National Emergency Operation Centre announced on Thursday.
A one-year-old child has been diagnosed with polio in the Khyber district. According to Babar bin Atta, the prime minister's adviser on polio, the child had reportedly been administered polio drops regularly.
The adviser said that a case of polio was also discovered in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... and the addition of these two new cases brings the number of polio cases up to six this fiscal year. Of the six, three cases have been detected in KP ‐ one in Khyber, one in Bajaur and one in Hangu.
"Samples from the sewage lines of various cities show that the polio virus is present," Babar bin Atta said.
According to the district health department, four polio cases were reported in November and December 2018, while one polio case was reported in January 2019.

[Aljazeera] Damascus says Trump's stand shows "the blind bias of the US" towards Israel and vows to recover Israeli-occupied Golan.
Syria has condemned US President Donald Trump's statement that it is time to recognise Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, while its close military ally, Russia said changing the status of the territory would violate UN agreements.
Syrian state news agency cited a foreign ministry source on Friday as saying Trump's statement showed "the blind bias of the United States" towards Israel.
It did not change "the reality that the Golan was and will remain Syrian, Arab," the source said. Oh Noes! How will we deal with their disapproval?
"The Syrian nation is more determined to liberate this precious piece of Syrian national land through all available means," the source told Reuters, adding that Trump's statement was "irresponsible" and showed "contempt" for international law.
Another close Syrian ally, Iran, also upbraided Trump for the comment he made on Thursday, which marks a dramatic shift in US policy over the status of a disputed area that was captured by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war and annexed in 1981 - a move not recognised internationally.
Last week, the US dropped "Israeli-occupied" designation in its annual human rights report, though the State Department insisted the wording change did not mean a policy change.

JERUSALEM (AP) ‐ The Latest on the United States and Israel (all times local): 12:55 a.m.
President Donald Trump has abruptly declared the U.S. will recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the disputed Golan Heights, a major shift in American policy that gives Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a political boost a month before what is expected to be a close election.
The administration has been considering recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the strategic highlands, which Israel captured from Syria in 1967, for some time. Netanyahu had pressed the matter with visiting Secretary of State Mike Pompeo just a day earlier.
U.S. and Israeli officials said Wednesday they had not expected a decision until next week, when Netanyahu is to visit the U.S.
But in a tweet that appeared to catch many by surprise, Trump said the time had come.

[Jpost] A report in Israel Hayom on Thursday claimed that Egyptian security officials and senior Paleostinian officials in Gazoo and Ramallah told the newspaper that Israel and Egypt are preparing for the next stage of the Gazoo arrangement.
According to the sources, "the next stage in the arrangement will include the disarming and removal of all types of weapons from Gazoo, with the exception of light weapons to be supervised in exchange for the lifting of the blockade and a series of international projects to improve the situation in the Strip." "No way. It'd be like giving up my manhood!"
Internal security will remain in the hands of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, but the report claims that the organization "will give up heavy weapons."

[ALMASDARNEWS] U.S. President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... tweeted on Thursday that it is time for his nation to recognize Israel’s illusory sovereignty over the Golan Heights region.
After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability!
Trump’s comments come just a week after U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham ... the endangered South Carolina RINO, fellow maverick of Honest John McCain... made a visit to the occupied Golan Heights region with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Graham said he would be pushing for U.S. Congress to pass a bill that would recognize Israel’s illusory sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Despite Trump’s comments, the United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... still holds Israel’s presence in the Golan Heights as an ’occupation’, while also recognizing that it to be Syrian territory.

[AnNahar] U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursday voiced regret that the previous U.S. administrations did not do much to "rein in" Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... Pompeo made the remarks in an interview with al-Arabiya television on the eve of an official visit to Leb.
The top U.S. diplomat hopes to use his first visit to Leb to step up pressure on Hizbullah and its regional backer Iran. But he is likely to face resistance even from Washington's Lebanese allies, who fear that pushing too hard could spark a backlash and endanger the tiny country's fragile peace.
Hizbullah wields more power than ever in parliament and the government.
Pompeo will meet Friday with President Michel Aoun ...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah... and will also hold talks with Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, a member of AMAL, a not very subtle Hizbullah sock puppet... and Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil -- all three of whom are close Hizbullah allies. He will also meet with Prime Minister Saad Hariri Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too. , who is close to the West but has opted to strike a political settlement with Hizbullah.
