[Townhall] The FBI says a man killed by agents in Belton, Missouri, on Tuesday night was a terrorist suspect who was actively planning to bomb a hospital amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The suspect, 36-year-old Timothy Wilson, was killed by FBI agents while picking up what he believed to be a bomb for use in the attack, the FBI announced in a press release on Wednesday.
The suspect was motivated "by racial, religious, and anti-government animus" and had been "the subject of a months-long domestic terrorism investigation," according to the FBI. No other details regarding the suspect's motive were provided.
Amid the government's efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus, "Wilson decided to accelerate his plan to use a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) in an attempt to cause severe harm and mass casualties,” the FBI alleges. "Wilson considered various targets and ultimately settled on an area hospital in an attempt to harm many people, targeting a facility that is providing critical medical care in today's environment."
The FBI says the suspect was being monitored by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force while actively working to acquire materials to carry out the attack. While executing a probable cause warrant, in coordination with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Missouri, FBI agents attempted to arrest the armed suspect on Tuesday night. The suspect was shot and later died from his injuries at a nearby hospital. No law enforcement officers or civilians were injured in the incident, KSHB 41 reported.

[Breaking911] BELTON, Mo. — The FBI says one of their agents fatally shot a domestic terror suspect Tuesday in 100th block of Wilbur Parish Circle in Belton.
Officials say the suspect, 36-year-old Timothy Wilson, was angry with the government’s social distancing measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Wilson reportedly planned to bomb a hospital in response.
FBI investigators say Wilson was motivated by racial, religious and anti-government views.
Wilson “decided to accelerate his plan to use a vehicle-born improvised explosive device in an attempt to cause severe harm and mass casualties,” a press release said.
Wilson allegedly decided on an unnamed hospital as a target and began to pursue bomb making materials.
Agents attempted to arrest Wilson when he tried to pick up what he thought was a truck bomb. That’s when the shooting occurred. He was later pronounced dead.
No other civilians or law officers were injured.

[DW] Suspected jihadists have attacked military barracks and surrounded a northern Mozambican town, hoisting their flag close to a major gas exploration site being developed by ExxonMobil and Total.
A pre-dawn attack in Mozambique's northern province of Cabo Delgado on Monday caught the attention of analysts for being more daring than previous assaults. Islamist Lions of Islam reportedly arrived by both sea and land and occupied the district of Mociboa da Praia. The group attacked a defense forces barracks, over which they hoisted their black flag, according to police front man, Orlando Modumane.
The group raided the local cop shoppe and set prisoners free. It also burned houses and destroyed a school. Dozens of people fled to the local hospital and mosques. The Lions of Islam built barricades on the main roads leading to the town. They controlled the municipality's airbase, the port and the cop shoppes for most of the day. Military sources accused them of taking weapons and vehicles.
Dozens of people were maimed during Monday's attack, said General Commander Bernardino Rafael from Mozambique's police. Online journal Moz24 reported that a child, a woman and a man were killed during the incident. The Lions of Islam faced no resistance, according to the report.
However, women are made to be loved, not understood... Rafael claimed that coppers fought "with the evildoers in the town" and advised locals "to keep calm and be vigilant, because the Lions of Islam may want to mix with the population and do harm."
"Cabo Delgado has 16 districts and the information we have is that nine of those districts are already affected by these attacks. It's a situation that the solution is not in sight."
THINGS GET COMPLICATED
Mocimboa da Praia is about 350 km (220 miles) from the city of Pemba in Mozambique's northernmost province of Cabo Delgado and is just south of the Afungi peninsula ‐ where billion-dollar gas projects are being developed by Exxon Mobil and Total.
The town was until recently the main airport for workers travelling to the site, before a landing strip was built at Afungi. The peninsula's port is also used for cargo deliveries for the projects.
The district central area was first occupied by the jihadist Lions of Islam in October 2017. Police commander Bernardino Rafael last week told news hounds that everything was in control. For political analyst Alexandre Chiure, however, the situation in the province is quite alarming.
"With each day that passes, things get more and more complicated," Chiure told DW. "Cabo Delgado has 16 districts and the information we have is that nine of those districts are already affected by these attacks. It's a situation that the solution is not in sight."
THE CULMINATION OF A TRAGIC FAILURE
Alexandre Chiure underscored President Filipe Nyusi's personal commitment to finding a solution. Nyusi showed willingness to engage in dialogue with the Death Eaters. The analyst said, however, that the attackers were getting more daring. "Before, the Lions of Islam attacked remote villages, but this time they got bolder and attacked the [main] village of Mocimboa da Praia," he explained.
Little is known about the group, which has killed more than 300 people and caused hundreds of thousands to flee their villages in Cabo Delgado.

The soldiers were ambushed on Monday in the island village of Boma in the swampy Lake Chad zone in the west of the country, where the armies of Chad, Nigeria and Niger have been fighting the Islamist turbans for years.
"I have taken part in many operations ... but never in our history have we lost so many men at one time," Deby said during a visit to the site on Tuesday.
Deby gave an initial corpse count of 92 and 47 maimed. Three military sources told Rooters on Wednesday that the number of dead had risen to 98.

[AlAhram] At least 70 Nigerian soldiers were killed in an ambush on their convoy by jihadist fighters in the restive northeast, military and security sources said on Tuesday.
Insurgents fired rocket-propelled grenades at a lorry carrying troops as it travelled near Gorgi village in Borno state on Monday, two military officers told AFP without giving their names.
"It was a huge loss, at least 70 soldiers have perished in the ambush," one of the officers said.
"The Death Eaters specifically targeted a truck loaded with soldiers with RPGs and incinerated the vehicle, killing all on board," a second officer said.
"So far 70 bodies have been recovered but the toll is certainly more than that as rescue operation is still underway."
Several soldiers were maimed and some others taken captive by the jihadists, the two officers said.
A front man for the Nigerian army told AFP that he was unable to comment on the reported attack.

[AA.TR] A convicted terrorist who was in hiding for over 20 years was arrested in the city of Mus, southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... on Wednesday, security sources said.
In 2000, the man, identified by the initials Y.Y., was convicted of "being a member of the Hezbollah terrorist organization" and sentenced in absentia to six years and three months in prison.

Having managed to evade capture for two decades, the suspect was caught in an operation by gendarmerie forces, who found out that he was hiding in a village close to the city center.
An operation was conducted and the suspect was found holed up in a secret hiding spot in his house.
It was learnt that, for 20 years, the suspect had been hiding in stables during the summer, and a secret room during the winter.
He was assisted by neighbors, who would alert him whenever security forces were in the area.

[WASHINGTONTIMES] The Bureau of Prisons failed to adequately monitor thousands of communications from more than 500 inmates with ties to terrorism, according to a Justice Department inspector general report released Wednesday.
In the nearly 70-page report, Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz wrote that the BOP did not take appropriate steps to review the email, phone calls, postage mail, video sessions and cellblock conversations of domestic and international terrorist inmates.
For example, the BOP failed to flag a letter that a high-risk inmate received from his wife detailing her intent to compromise a staff member at his prison. The BOP also missed a threatening letter sent to a television talk show host from an inmate pledging allegiance to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. [Rudaw] Two Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed in a mortar attack conducted by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Wednesday in the Haftanin area of the Kurdistan Region close to the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... , a defense ministry statement from Ankara published by state media has announced.
"Two of our soldiers were martyred and two others injured by a mortar attack by the separatist terrorist organization members in northern Iraq’s Haftanin region on March 25, 2020," read a statement from the Ottoman Turkish defense ministry via state-owned outlet TRT, using "separatist terrorist organization" to refer to the PKK.
In a separate statement posted to their official Twitter account, the defense ministry said Ottoman Turkish forces retaliated by targeting four suspected PKK positions and "neutralized" eight fighters of the group. The Ottoman Turkish government uses the term "neutralized" to denote death, injury, or capture of its adversaries.
The defense ministry later released the names and photos of the two soldiers killed in Haftanin.
The PKK is an gang which has fought a decades-long war with the Ottoman Turkish state for greater political and cultural rights for Kurds in Turkey. It is considered as a terrorist organization by Turkey and its Western allies.
Turkey routinely launches land and air operations against the group within its borders, in the Kurdistan Region, and in Iraq’s disputed territories of Shingal and Makhmour. It also attacks Kurdish forces in northern Syria, accusing them of ties with the PKK.

[YNews] - There has been a 50% drop over the past week in the number of instances of terror activity in the West Bank.
An average recent week sees 30-35 incidents of stones or firebombs being thrown at Israeli vehicles.
Officials suggest that the reduction could be due to the Palestinian Authority closures on cities and towns due to the coronavirus outbreak. See, even Palestinians understand lockdown to flatten the curve.

[NYP] Former FBI agent Robert Levinson, who went missing in Iran in 2007, is believed to have died while in the custody of the Middle Eastern nation, his family said.
"We recently received information from US officials that has led both them and us to conclude that our wonderful husband and father died while in Iranian custody," his family said in a Wednesday statement.
Levinson’s family said they don’t know how or when he died, but only that it occurred before the global coronavirus outbreak.
"It is impossible to describe our pain," the family said. "Our family will spend the rest of our lives without the most amazing man, a new reality that is inconceivable to us."
Levinson vanished in 2007 after being apprehended on Iran’s Kish Island while conducting a secret mission for the CIA.
In November 2010, video emerged of Levinson wearing an orange jumpsuit and pleading to be released and returned to the United States.
But efforts to bring him back home had been impeded by the lack of formal relations between the two countries.
Iran Coronavirus Updates: 27,017 Confirmed Cases, 2,077 Deaths, 9,625 Recovered
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] As of Wednesday, the death toll from the novel coronavirus outbreak, officially known as COVID-19, in Iran has risen to 2,077 with 27,017 confirmed cases and 9,625 recovered. i.e., according to my admittedly shaky math, of those confirmed, a 7 to 8 percent death rate.
Iran’s Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said on Wednesday that 2,206 new cases have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of infections in Iran to 27,017 27,017 divided by 47,500,000 works out to a pretty small .06% infection rate.
To date, more than 47.5 million people have been screened for COVID-19 and the National Mobilization Plan to combat coronavirus is run in the country and is considered as a successful pattern for other countries.
Some 9,625 patients, infected by the novel coronavirus, have so far recovered and discharged from hospitals, he added. 35 percent recovery rate, plus seven percent death rate, leaves a 58 percent limbo rate, neither recovered nor dead.
It is a matter of regret to say that COVID-19 global pandemic has so far taken the lives of 2,077 people in Iran, with 143 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, he said. Eight percent of the confirmed infections have been in the past 24 hours? (2077÷27017=0.07687) That means the epidemic's been going for twelve days? Twelve and a half? Don't time fly!
According to a report by the Iranian Health Ministry on Tuesday, capital Tehran reported the highest number of infections as compared with other provinces in the country.
To date, more than 47.5 million people have been screened for COVID-19 and the National Mobilization Plan to combat coronavirus is run in the country and is considered as a successful pattern for other countries.
