Trump Admin Names Gun Makers, Retailers Essential Businesses Nationwide
[Breitbart] President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security released updated guidelines naming gun manufacturers and retailers as essential on Saturday, which means they are to stay open and operational nationwide during a Chinese coronavirus shutdown.

The DHS guidelines list as essential:

Workers supporting the manufacturing of safety equipment and uniforms for law enforcement, public safety personnel, and first responders.

Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.

The Second Amendment Foundation's Alan Gottlieb commented on the DHS declaration, saying, "Every freedom loving American owes President Trump and his administration a very big thank you for protecting our Second Amendment Rights. This is another Trump promise made and promise kept."

The DHS declaration comes just days after Governor Phil Murphy (D) laughed in the face of a man who expressed concern that the statewide shutdown in New Jersey had put an end to gun sales, thereby eliminating the ability to get a firearm for self-defense.

Breitbart News reported the concerned man asking Murphy, "If less guns reduce crime, will you give up your personal bodyguards?"

Murphy responded by intimating that he and the citizen had a philosophical difference in the role guns play, with the governor believing "a safer society has fewer guns, not more guns. And the guns that do exist are in the hands of the right people ‐ particularly trained members of law enforcement."

The governor then giggled, referenced an armed law enforcement member next to him, and said, "It is what it is."
Keep giggling you tyrant. We'll see how chipper you are when the praetorian guard stops protecting you.

I'm sure I've missed some venerable overseas armorers. Feel free to fill in the missing pieces below.

Sunday, March 29, 2020 Who's Funding the Coronavirus Political Trolls?
[Sultan Knish] - Everyone gave something.

Steven Spielberg and his wife gave $100,000. His former partner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, gave another $100,000. The producers of Lost gave over $50,000. Jett actress Carla Gugino also chipped in.

Not to relief efforts dealing with the coronavirus, but to a hate campaign against Trump.

Everyone has their own brand of patriotism, and for some Hollywood celebrities, that meant giving big to Pacronym: a sleazy money machine targeting President Trump run by Tara McGowan. McGowan, a former 60 Minutes vet reporter turned Obama hack, was supposed to brilliantly transform Dem campaigning with innovative tactics like seeding fake news through fake local papers under Courier Newsroom, and Shadow Inc: the mysterious company behind the Iowa caucus disaster.

But McGowan has never found a sewer she couldn’t crawl out of and is relaunching her reputation by using the coronavirus crisis to run digital ads attacking President Trump. And donors to Pacronym, a PAC affiliate of McGowan’s Acronym, a non-profit, which somehow ties in with for-profits and a PAC, include Hollywood celebrities, writers, CEOs and financial whiz kids, helping divide America during a crisis.

Businesses tied to Gov. Tom Wolf, top Pa. senator close after questions about how they qualified as ‘life-sustaining'
[Post-Gazette] Thousands of businesses in Pennsylvania have closed under Gov. Tom Wolf’s unprecedented statewide shutdown to help slow the spread of COVID-19, but not the company that the Democratic governor once owned, or the business now owned by the Senate’s most powerful member.

Until now.

On Thursday, Mr. Wolf’s office said it had rescinded a waiver that had been issued to the governor’s former business, a kitchen and bath cabinet supply company in Central Pennsylvania, after Spotlight PA and PA Post inquired about how it qualified as "life-sustaining."

Likewise, The Dan Smith Candy Company, owned by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, R-Jefferson ‐ which makes and sells candies, chocolates and other specialty items at stores in the northern part of the state ‐ also closed its doors after inquiries from the news organizations.

The ability for both companies to remain open amid a crisis of unparalleled proportions in Pennsylvania ‐ one that has already taken a severe toll on businesses large and small, as well as their workers ‐ underscores the opaque and chaotic process that has unfolded since Mr. Wolf first began shutting down the state last week.

Since that time, Mr. Wolf has twice expanded the list of industries that are exempt, allowed gun shops to reopen on a limited basis, and issued waivers to thousands of more businesses, allowing them to reopen their physical locations. Many described that process as random, inconsistent and frustratingly slow.

"It doesn't seem like there is any consistency," said Robert Kleckner, owner of Linfield National Golf Club in Montgomery County, who has twice applied for a state waiver and has not heard back from the Department of Community and Economic Development, which is in charge of the process.

There are few safeguards in place to ensure the waiver process has been fair and equitable. The administration has declined to release the exact criteria and process for approvals and denials, and it also has declined to release a list of businesses that were allowed to reopen and those that were not.

As of Wednesday, the Department of Community and Economic Development said it had received a staggering 24,877 waiver requests. Of those, 4,003 had been approved and 4,439 had been denied. At a news conference that day, Mr. Wolf said he was not personally signing off on any of the waiver decisions.

Former Hillary Clinton Staffer Tells Trump Supporters To ‘Chew Some Ibuprofen And Be On With Your Day,' Refuse Ventilators

Roswell Park VP Laura Krolczyk (former Hillary Clinton Senate staffer) fired over Facebook posts wishing coronavirus death on Trump supporters https://t.co/e4Esloolq2

— Phil Kerpen (@kerpen) March 28, 2020

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has terminated a top executive for Facebook posts that bashed President Trump's response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Laura Krolczyk, Roswell Park's vice president for external affairs, was initially placed on administrative leave from her position but was fired following the conclusion of an investigation into her remarks, spokeswoman Annie Deck-Miller confirmed Saturday.

Hauptman Woodward Medical Research Institute has placed Lisa LaTrovato, its director of development, on leave for her comments in the Facebook exchange with Krolczyk, the institute told The Buffalo News.

The exchange ‐ according to screen grabs posted by Caputo

Krolczyk replied: "Trump supporters need to pledge to give up their ventilators for someone else ... and not go to the hospital."

LaTrovato responded: "I think they should be the only ones in packed churches on Sunday."

Krolczyk then said: "They should barricade themselves in there and ride this out."

LaTrovato replied: "Yup."

Later, another Facebook user wrote: "Wow, just wow, so your saying we decide who lives and dies based on political views? Great plan (thumbs up emoji)."

Krolczyk responsed: "That's literally what he's saying. Take your 'wow' and comprehend what your hero is saying. Your hero is saying YOU don't need a ventilator. So don't take one."

Krolczyk added: "Also don't cash your stimulus check. It's all a hoax. Chew some ibuprofen and be on with your day."

Caputo shared the exchanges and urged his 37,000 Twitter followers to raise their concerns directly with the two institutions.

"Is it your public health policy to assure Trump voters are infected with COVID?" Caputo asked of the two organizations.

#7  George MacDonald once said that it is impossible that the best men will ever be elected because the best men have no desire to rule over other men.

Now if you take that down a tier or two from the elected to the human parasite and tick that would be a bureaucrat, unelected, unfirable, and self perpetuating, it is a wonder you can find this level of decency.

#8  Namesake of the research center, Roswell Park, was a doctor that tended to President McKinley before he died from the assassin's bullet. Now an institute named in that doctor's honor had employed a woman wishing death on the current president's supporters and presumably the president himself. A horrible example of O'Sullivan's First Law.

#9  Roswell Park is a major cancer research institute and hospital — the one nobody outside the field seems to have heard of. That’s where my father worked for the American portion of his career, where Mr. Wife had his early research adventures, and later my sister spent some years playing as a post-doc before deciding to go in for the professoring biz.

This will resonate locally — most in that part of the world vote Democrat.

#6  #1 All the musicians are probably reliable Democrat voters and now they are getting what they voted for - good and hard.

Not likely. Plenty of all types in that profession. The audience skews conservative and wealthy. Anyone who wants to succeed as a classical musician has to adopt conservative values: relentless hard work, a commitment to objective standards of excellence, and most importantly the reverence for European male composers from long ago. This is the exact opposite of the SJW/snowflake ethos.

So yes, there's no shortage of loud mouthed TDS sufferers in the classical music profession but also a far higher proportion of moderates and conservatives than you will find anywhere else in the performing arts. It's most definitely not a hotbed of left-liberalism.

#11  "certain disciplines are inherently conservative across the board" syllogism

?
I was stating the opposite. That the statement "all the musicians are probably reliable Democratic voters" is probably false -- not that the discipline produces political conservatives but that the ethos is aligned with a conservative ethos.

One more: many of the greatest conductors are authoritarians who demand a degree of obedience and discipline tgat makes playing in their orchestras closer to soldiering than any other performing art.

#12  Twenty five million for the Kennedy Center is so wildly inappropriate in a relief bill, that one suspects a payoff of some sort. Or an elegant, upscale form of money laundering.
