Good question, Water. In his first stint as Guv, he took Linda Ronstadt on a safari to Africa. When he started getting heat about that, he said " that's Ok, nothing happened." Everyone in the state believed him.

Everyone in the state believed him.
I certainly did. I still do.
There might have been some hope at one time that Brown would be sort of like Nixon going to China in that he might, just might, give the Republicans something. Now he seems to be clinging to his plan to pass the buck to the voters. WHY DO WE NEED A GOVERNOR AND A LEGISLATURE IF THEY PASS DECISIONS LIKE THIS TO THE VOTERS???!!!! As a voter, I have just one word for Moonbeam: NO!
Well, I take that back. Not just NO! HELL NO!!!

AH9418, you ought to be offended, not the other way around. My state is governed by partisan morons, in thrall to unions and minorities and the massive Democratic urban power centers of LA and SF. Sanity doesn't matter, buying support and votes, and feeding the insatiable demands of those who want other people's prosperity through wealth redistribution is all that really matters.
What should offend you is the certainty that when the budget fails, your tax dollars will come here to keep this pathetic socialist effluent in power. You see, we deliver almost one fifth of all the votes needed for President, and without CA and government unions the Democratic Party has no chance of ever holding the Presidency. So after the dance, Oblablah will deliver, Chicago style, somehow. That is what is really offensive!

Cool.. so we have a chance to break CA up in to CA-South, CA-Central and Ecotopia?
As to Linda... I remembered "We didn't do anything" so my snark was a natural question... about somebody that once wanted to be a priest and then a Buddhist monk... not withstanding having peyote prayer breakfast for the statehouse in his previous incarnation as gov.

Territories don't get to really play in the Electoral College since states can not go into federal receivership

Well, karma's a bitch, cuz you'd need a lengthy garden hose to meet the standards now, as big as she's gotten. She was smokin' hot at one time. Sad

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
