There are Christian holy men saying the same thing. They should have a nice inter-faith gathering at a nice compound in Texas and set fire to themselves

WASHINGTON (AP) Mark Frerichs, a contractor from Illinois, poses in Iraq in this undated photo obtained from Twitter that he would include with his resume when job hunting. Frerichs was abducted in Afghanistan in January 2020. Early efforts to locate him have been shrouded in mystery and his disappearance has been the subject of minimal public discussion by the U.S. government. Frerichs foto at right.
In the days following the capture of an American contractor in Afghanistan earlier this year, Navy commandos raided a village and detained suspected members of the Taliban-linked Haqqani network while the U.S. intelligence community tried to track the cellphones of the man and his captors, The Associated Press has learned.
While the circumstances surrounding the abduction remain unclear, the previously unreported operation described by multiple American officials over the past month shed new light on early efforts to locate Mark R. Frerichs, a contractor from Illinois whose disappearance has been shrouded in mystery and whose case has been the subject of minimal public discussion by the U.S. government.
The new details emerge as violence and political infighting in Kabul threaten to scuttle a Taliban peace deal with the U.S. Last month, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo voiced frustrations after a failed attempt to mediate a power struggle between Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and political rival Dr. Abdullah Abdullah. The Trump administration said it would cut $1 billion in aid to Afghanistan.
Washington has urged Kabul to release Taliban prisoners, which is part of the peace agreement, arguing the detainees were at risk of spreading the coronavirus.
But there are no public indications Frerichs, a Navy veteran, has been part of negotiations between the U.S. and Taliban leadership, or that his release is part of any peace deal.
"The Taliban kidnapped my brother in January. In February, the U.S. signed a peace deal with the Taliban. My brother wasn’t part of the deal. Now we are arranging for the Taliban and Afghan government to exchange thousands of prisoners," Charlene Cakora, one of Frerichs’ sisters, said in a statement provided to the AP. "Why can’t we make an American hostage be one of them?"

Very likely no "mystery" with regard to his not being armed, making him easy prey.

The AFG govt made sure of that long ago. An Afghan cannot be bought - but he can be rented.

/\ I can remember years ago, an "arming memo" (authorization for US civilian contractor to carry a weapon) had to go up to a Brigadier General and a legal review in Baghdad prior to his (the General's) signature. Perhaps things have been streamlined a bit.
I never had any contact with arming memos in AFG. I suspect the procedure may have been similar.

Yes, this is why contractors in countries like this make a shit-ton of money.
Obviously he didn't take security seriously, with a photo like that on his resume. It was all a joke to him. Now good men are putting their lives in danger to rescue his worthless ass.

/\ The circumstances of the 'snatch' have not been released but you may have a valid point. That tan colored piece of gear behind him appears to be TROJAN coms system.... hence the sign, duhhh.
Taking 'happy snaps' in a combat theater is generally not a good idea.
Once again, the key to the benefit program is not getting policed up by the hostiles.

[DW] German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer on Thursday banned Hezbollah activities in the country, his ministry front man said on Twitter.
He also confirmed that "police measures are underway in several federal states concurrently," and added that even in times of crisis, the "rule of law is able to act."
The police raids are focused on four mosque associations in Berlin, Dortmund, Bremen and Munster accused of belonging to Hezbollah.
Germany has also classified it as a terrorist organization.
HEZBOLLAH IN EUROPE
Authorities estimate around 1,050 people in Germany are active members of the Lebanese bully boy group.
In September, federal prosecutors were given the authority to open criminal cases against members of a foreign terror organization.
Last December, Germany's parliament approved a motion urging the government to ban all Hezbollah activities in the country, citing its "terrorist activities," particularly in Syria.
In 2013, EU foreign ministers banned Hezbollah's military wing but not its political work in Europe. As a result, sanctions can be imposed on its military leaders.
The UK designated Hezbollah as a terrorist organization in February last year.
The US and Israel have long applied pressure on Germany to ban the group outright.

The Hezbollah mosque in the German city of Münster posted a shocking video in December, 2018 on Facebook, announcing it was proud of terrorism and pledging allegiance to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The Washington-based Middle East Media Research Institute, revealed the video and wrote on its website “Poem Recited in a Münster, Germany Shiite Mosque: We Have Pledged Allegiance to Khamenei; We Are Accused of Terrorism and Are Proud of It .” The transcription from the Imam Mahdi Zentrum Shiite mosque in Münster, in North Rhine-Westphalia, noted a man recited a poem, “We have pledged our allegiance to the Jurisprudent Ruler [Khamenei]. We are soldiers willing to sacrifice our lives for Nasrallah [‘Victory of Allah’]. We belong to the party of Ruhollah [Khomeini]. We have been accused of being terrorists – we are proud of terrorism.

A 29-year-old Frenchie who claimed allegiance to the Islamic State group is facing possible terrorism charges after he rammed his car into police, injuring three officers.
The incident occurred Monday in the northwestern Gay Paree suburb of Colombes, while police were conducting an ID check. The driver slammed into police cars and police cycle of violences, sending three officers to the hospital, the national counter-terrorism prosecution office said in a statement Tuesday.
The driver was arrested, and Sherlocks found a knife in his car along with a letter pledging allegiance to IS and claiming to want to impose Islamic sharia law around the world, the statement said.
Counter-terrorism prosecutors decided to take over the investigation after the driver underwent a psychological examination Tuesday and was found to be of sound mind.
The man, who was not identified, is facing possible charges of links to criminal terrorism and attempted killing of officers in connection with a terrorist enterprise, the statement said.

A driver who rammed two coppers in La Belle France Monday afternoon said that he carried out the attack because of "the situation" in Paleostine.
The suspect, identified by French newspaper Le Gay Pareeien (French) as pro-Paleostinian activist Youssef T., drove his black BMW into two cycle of violence cops as they conducted roadside inspections in Colombes, near Gay Paree.
According to French news reports, during his arrest he mentioned Paleostine, Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. Pictures of the incident shared on the Twitter account of the country’s police union showed a cycle of violence crushed between a police car and the assailant’s vehicle.
One of the copperswas maimed in the head, the other in the legs and pelvis. Both have been hospitalized but their lives are not in danger.
In the suspect’s car, Sherlocks found a knife and a "letter explaining his action," and he "said during his arrest that he had watched videos on Paleostine before acting," prosecutors in Nanterre said.
Youssef T., 29, was unknown to French intelligence services prior to the attack but had previously been sentenced to community service for an unspecified violent incident in 2008, Le Gay Pareeien reported.
The national counterterrorism prosecutor’s office is looking into the possibility of getting involved in the case and Le Gay Pareeien reported that La Belle France’s General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI) intelligence agency is currently on alert.

Bandipora has long been a point of regroup and a fallback base for Pak Ranger trained Lashkar e Tayiba recon teams, posing as Indian Kashmiris. It's difficult to weed them out because some families willfully help them arrange identification, vouch for them etc.
It's mostly routine, this sort of thing. They send the rats, we flush them out, or trick them into thinking they can make a run for it, and shoot them. Any casualties we sustain are creditable to our bloated administrations, run by socialists. So citizens of the free-er world battling socialism are warned.☺
[Jpost] A Paleostinian from the town of Berta'a in the north-eastern West Bank attempted to ram into a security guard at a post at the Rehan checkpoint on Wednesday evening, and crashed into the post without causing any injuries.
The guard saw the Paleostinian driving towards the checkpoint and signaled to him to approach slowly to be checked. The Paleostinian then sped up the car and drove quickly towards the guard in what is believed to be an attempt to hit him.
The Paleostinian was arrested and no one was injured in the incident. The suspect stated at the checkpoint that he was trying to carry out an attack and "wanted to die."
Suicide by IDF. One hopes he was wearing the required facemask, like yesterday’s knife attacker.
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian man was maimed Tuesday in the southern West Bank when an bomb went off in his hand, Paleostinian medics said. The man was apparently trying to throw the bomb at passing Israeli vehicles.
The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy said its medics treated a man in his home in Idhna near Hebron after he injured his hand in an unknown explosion, adding that he was transferred to a hospital for further treatment.
Israel’s Kan public broadcaster said he had been trying to throw a pipe bomb at Israeli motorists at the nearby Tarkumiya junction when it went kaboom!. There were no Israeli casualties.
The attempted attack came as Israelis celebrated Independence Day and hours after a Paleostinian teenager stabbed an Israeli woman in the central Israeli town of Kfar Saba, in what police called a terror attack, before he was shot by a security guard.

[IsraelTimes] Assailant, a Palestinian teenager, is shot by an armed civilian after attacking the victim outside a store in Kfar Saba.
A Paleostinian teenager stabbed an Israeli woman in the central Israeli town of Kfar Saba on Tuesday afternoon in what police called a terror attack before he was shot by a security guard.
The woman, 62, was in moderate-to-serious condition and received treatment on the scene before being taken to Kfar Saba’s Meir Medical Center, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said.
According to police, the suspected terrorist was shot by an armed civilian who was driving by.
As General Mattis said, “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”
He was said to be in moderate condition after medical treatment.
"The terrorist, 19, from the West Bank, took out a knife and chased after her. A civilian who lives nearby saw what was happening. He stopped his car and shot up the terrorist," police said.
The Zaka emergency response service said the assailant was taken to Ramat Gan’s Sheba Medical Center with light injuries.
According to police, the suspected terrorist was a 19-year-old from the West Bank. Paleostinian media reported that he was from the city of Tulkarem.
Tulkarem hosted an Islamic Jihad cell last autumn...
His name was not immediately released.
The police said officers arrived to the scene and shut down the surrounding roads.
Officers were investigating the stabbing, including how the Paleostinian teenager entered Israel from the West Bank.
The stabbing attack occurred on Galgalei Haplada Street outside the G Mall in Kfar Saba, medics said.
The attack came shortly after Israelis marked Memorial Day with a two-minute siren in honor of fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism.
[IsraelTimes] Graphic images shared on social media show the assailant in Kfar Saba appears to have been wearing a protective mask, as mandated by Health Ministry regulations.

Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... , 50 soldiers were maimed, including six officers.
The army units in the aforementioned area arrested 19 people for throwing explosives and stones at the patrol members, and sparking riots, burning banks and a number of ATMs.
