Afghanistan
40 ISIS Miscreants turned into a fine, red mist in Nangarhar
Upto 40 loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group have been killed in an airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the airstrike was carried out in Achin district around 8:20 pm tonight.

It is yet not clear if the airstrike was carried out by the Afghan Air Force or the US forces in Afghanistan but MOD said further details would be released later.

This comes as both the Afghan and US forces in Afghanistan have stepped up operations against the loyalists of the terror group amid concerns that they are trying to expand foothold in the country.

According to reports, the US Air Force dropped 251 bombs and missiles targeting mainly the loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group in Afghanistan during the months of January and February.

According to the data compiled by the Air Force, the airstrikes in the first two months of the year was more than three times the strikes in the same period last year.

The increase in airstrikes followed by President Barack Obama’s grant of authority to launch attacks on Islamic State militants who had gained control over territory in several provinces, including areas in the Tora Bora region, where Osama bin Laden once took refuge.

30 local kops join Taliban in Baghlan
At least 30 Afghan Local Police (ALP) soldiers have reportedly joined the Taliban ranks in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan.

Sources have said the ALP forces have joined the Taliban ranks in Dand-e-Ghori district where heavy clashes have been reported among the Taliban and Afghan security forces.

The sources speaking on the condition of anonymity said the ALP forces have also taken with them 25 weapons.

The Taliban militants group has commented regarding the report so far which comes as local officials have said the Taliban insurgents have launched coordinated attack on Dand-e-Ghori.

According to the earlier reports, the Taliban insurgents have managed to take control of certain areas in Dand-e-Ghori which is located close to Pul-e-Khumri city, the provincial capital of Baghlan province.

The provincial police chief, General Mohammad Ewaz Naziri, said clashes continued between the militants and Afghan forces but he did not confirm the fall of area to the Taliban militants.

The Afghan forces retook full control of Dand-e-Ghori from Taliban insurgents earlier last months which followed weeks after the area was in control of the militants.

The security situation in Baghlan has sharply deteriorated amid rampant Taliban-led insurgency across the country, including northern provinces.

15 Afghan soldiers die as violence surges across the country
At least 15 Afghan soldiers lost their lives during the counter-terrorism operations being conducted across the country amid surging violence.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours as they were suppressing the anti-government armed militants.

“The Afghan National Army (ANA) forces are prepared for all kinds of devotion and with all force to maintain security and comfort for the people of Afghanistan,” a statement by MoD said, adding that 15 Afghan soldiers were martyred during counter-terrorism operations against the internal and foreign terrorists.

According to a statement by MoD at least 110 militants were killed and 124 others were wounded as a result of the clearance operations in the past 24 hours.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Jawzjan, Kunar, Baghlan, Badghis, Badakhshan, Ghazni, Paktika, Maidan Wrdak, Kandahar, Zabul, Sar-e-Pul and Helmand provinces.

There has been a sharp rise in the casualties of the Afghan national security forces since they took full control of the security responsibilities from the coalition forces at the start of last year.

According to the earlier estimates by security officials, the Afghan army deaths stood at 4 service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised explosive device (IED) attacks.

The Afghan forces have increased counter-terrorism operations to suppress the anti-government armed militant groups who are preparing to step up attacks as they announced their spring offensive earlier this week.

Taliban Regains Ground in Dand-e-Ghori
Embattled Dand-e-Ghori in Baghlan province has once again been the scene of fierce fighting between Afghan security forces and the Taliban.

This comes after a concerted military operation, Nawed One (Hope), was launched in Dand-e-Shahabuddin.

Officials said the Taliban also resumed their attacks on Afghan forces in other parts of the province.

Army officials in Baghlan said that the operation was conducted by joint Afghan forces.

"The operation conducted with participation of army, police and NDS forces in Dand-e- Shahabuddin and will continue until the full elimination of Taliban hideouts in Baghlan proivince," said Gen. Rajab 209th Shaheen Corps deputy.

Officials have said that clashes continued throughout the night on Wednesday and that the Taliban have now seized Joe Nawo, Wardakha, Ahmadzaiha and a local police base in Qala-e-Khowaja.

Meanwhile Baghlan provincial council officials said that government must step in and stop the insurgency in the province.

"Tonight Taliban are going to attack Bala Joye and Darqat areas and also at 01:00 am on Shahr-e-Nawo, but attack on Shahr-e-Nawo will be pushed back but Joye Nawo and Ahmadzaiha will collapse to the Taliban and this is really a source of concern," said Bismillah Attash a provincial council member.

Dand-e-Ghori area was cleared of insurgents recently after 40 days of fighting between the security forces and the Taliban.

Five Key Taliban Commanders Killed in Northern Afghanistan
At least five key Taliban commanders were killed in northern Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul and Faryab provinces in the past two days, local officials said.

Security officials in the north of Afghanistan said that insurgents suffered major casualties in the clashes and that troops are trying to prevent the insurgents from fleeing the area.

"In Aqcha district [of Jawzjan], 27 Taliban insurgents were killed and 38 others were injured," Gen. Abdul Hamid Hamid, commander of 209 Shaheen Military Crops said.

Hamid assured the nation that the insurgents are not able to defeat the security forces, adding that "people should trust in their security forces."

He said security forces are currently in clashes with insurgents in Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Zahir Wahdat, provincial governor of Sar-e-Pul, said that clashes still continue in Sozma Qala, Sayad and Sancharak districts of the province.

"At least 11 insurgents including their five key commanders were killed and 14 others were injured in the past two days of clashes," Wahdat said.

But officials from the provincial council of Sar-e-Pul warned that if government does not support the security forces, insurgents will take control of a number of areas in the province.

"Reinforcements should be sent to the province because there are clashes in the center of Sar-e-Pul," a member of the provincial council, Asadullah Khoram said.

He said that clashes also took place along the Jawzjan and Sar-e-Pul highway on Wednesday night, which resulted in the death of one civilian and three military soldiers. Three other civilians were injured.

Pakistan's ISI funded deadly attack on CIA post at FOB Chapman
[Times of India] WASHINGTON: Talk about biting the hand that feeds. Even as it bilked billions of dollars in aid from the United States, Pakistan is now revealed to have funded the 2009 attack on a CIA camp on its border with Afghanistan that killed seven American agents and contractors and three others.

The explosive disclosure comes in a declassified 2010 cable published by the national security archive, that, despite being redacted in parts, asserts unequivocally that "some funding for Haqqani attacks are still provided by the Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence directorate, including $200,000 for the December 30, 2009, attack on the CIA facility at Camp Chapman."

The Camp Chapman attack was carried out by Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, a Jordanian doctor and double agent, whom the CIA was trying to use to infiltrate al-Qaida in Pakistan in its hunt for Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri. Instead, he was turned around the Haqqani group, a terrorist proxy for Pakistan's intelligence agency.

Al-Balawi's suicide attack on December 30, 2009 at the Camp Chapman forward post, which the CIA used to gather intelligence for drone attacks in Pakistan, killed ten people, including two female American CIA agents: Jennifer Lynne Matthews, 45, and a mother of three, who commanded the base, and Elizabeth Hanson, 30, a targeting analyst. The attack was memorialized in a movie titled Zero Dark Thirty.

While it has long been known that Pakistan's terrorism sponsorship has claimed the lives of Indian and American civilians and military personnel, the revelations about bankrolling the Camp Chapman attack, kept secret from the public so far, is certain to inflame tensions between the two sides, particularly their military-intelligence outfits. Successive US administrations -- particularly the state department led by John Kerry -- have long ladled out pabulum that Pakistan is a front-line ally in the war on terror while funneling billions of dollars of aid, despite multiple terrorist attacks across the world originating from Pakistan, including in San Bernardino, New York, and London.
The attack on FOB Chapman took place on December 30, 2009. Bin Laden was killed at Abbottabad on May 2, 2011. The goal was the neutralization of Bin Laden prior to the 2012 presidential election. The goal was met.

Europe
Sharia police preacher faces terrorism charges
[THELOCAL.DE] A fundamentalist Muslim preacher who started a “sharia police” force in western Germany has now been charged with aiding a terrorist group in Syria, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

Sven Lau, whose religious enforcement group in the Rhineland city of Wuppertal caused national and international outrage in 2014, is accused of obtaining night-vision equipment for a Syrian jihadist group known as Jamwa, which has been linked to Isis.

He was a “point of contact for those willing to fight and travel abroad, especially from the Salafist [fundamentalist] scene in the Düsseldorf metropolitan area,” a statement from federal prosecutors in Karlsruhe read.

Lau, a German convert to fundamentalist Islam, also allegedly supplied the Jamwa group with three night-vision devices in 2013.

He made several trips to Syria himself and aided two men in their travels to the war-torn country, the statement continues.

While parts of Jamwa have since fought against Isis, prosecutors say that the branch Lau supported remains an ally of the notorious terror group.

Charges were filed at the upper state court in Düsseldorf on April 8th, almost five months after Lau was arrested in Mönchengladbach.

Ax-wielding Palestinian attacks soldier in West Bank, is shot dead
[IsraelTimes] In separate incident, two 12-year-old Paleostinian kids jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
with knives in Jerusalem, are suspected of planning an attack

It's the start of the Muslim weekend in Israel, and kids just want to have fun.
A Paleostinian man attacked an IDF soldier in the West Bank with an ax on Thursday, before troops shot and killed him, the army said.

The assailant was shot by soldiers at the scene of the incident, near the Al-Aroub refugee camp north of Hebron. The IDF confirmed the attacker later died of his injuries.

The attacker was identified as Ibrahim Brad’aih, 54, a resident of Al-Aroub, according to Hebrew media reports.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, and guess that this gentleman is connected to Hamas, given his age and proximity to Hamas's headquarters in the West Bank.
The ax apparently hit the soldier in the helmet and he was unharmed, according to unconfirmed accounts of the incident.

Earlier, two 12-year-old Paleostinian boys were arrested in Jerusalem’s Old City after police discovered three knives concealed in one of their coats.

The Israel Police said it appeared the children were planning to carry out a stabbing attack. They were stopped for inspection after they raised the suspicions of coppers at the scene.

The kids are residents of the West Bank, and were detained near the Temple Mount, according to the Ynet news website.

The children were also found to be carrying a goodbye letter to their parents.

Earlier this week, the prison service said it has approved the early release of a 12-year-old Paleostinian girl who confessed to planning to carry out a stabbing attack in a West Bank settlement. Prison service front man Assaf Librati said Monday that authorities have decided to release the girl on April 24 -- six weeks before her scheduled release. He said the decision was made because of her "young age."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
ISIS executes its own Top Turban in spying
[ARA News]. ERBIL ــ Radical group of the Islamic State (ISIS) on Thursday executed one of its prominent leaders on charges of high treason in the city of Jarablus in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo.

ISIS military commander in Jarablus, Abu Mustafa, was charged of high treason by the Sharia Court for attempting dissidence, local sources reported.

Speaking to ARA News in Jarablus, media activist Nasser Taljbini said that ISIS beheaded Thursday its 40-year-old military commander Abu Mustafa in front of dozens of people in a public square in the city of Jarablus northern Aleppo on charges of fleeing the group’s ranks.

According to ISIS regulations, dissidence attempt from the groups ranks is regarded a ‘high treason’ and the perpetrator is being publicly executed.

“The ISIS-linked Hisba Police arrested Abu Mustafa two days ago near the Turkish border in the western countryside of Jarablus, while trying to flee to Turkey,” Taljbini reported.

“After his arrest, the Sharia Court decided to behead the man in public on charges of ‘high treason’,” eyewitnesses told ARA News, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Local sources confirmed that another top leader of ISIS from Jarablus was killed during confrontations with Syrian opposition factions in Aleppo’s northern suburbs.

On Wednesday, the ISIS senior leader, Abu Hadid, was killed along with six other militants during clashes with Syrian rebels in Aleppo’s north on the outskirts of the strategic town of al-Raee, Taljbini told ARA News.

He pointed out that the corpse Abu Hadid and his companions were brought to Jarablus on Thursday, while the place of their burial remains unspecified.

Over the past few months, hundreds of ISIS militants and military commanders have tried to escape the group’s ranks and head towards the European countries, especially after the US-led coalition forces intensified airstrikes on financial resources and command centers of the militant group.

Also, Jarablus is one of the main targets at the moment for the Kurdish YPG forces. If they were able to retake it, they would be blocking one of the main routes in the face of foreign militants who continue to cross from Turkey into Syria in order to join their alleged Caliphate, according to military experts.

Another Iranian commando reportedly killed in Syria
Hamdollah Bakhshandeh, a member of Iranian Army has been reportedly killed in armed clashes with Syrian opposition groups. He is the fifth member of Iran's Army who has been killed in Syria, Fars news agency reported.

Iranian officials have recently confirmed that four members of the army's commandos were killed in Syrian clashes.

Earlier in April, Brigadier-General Ali Arasteh, an Iranian Army commander, said the Army has deployed a group of its commandos to Syria for providing advisory support for President Bashar Assad's army in the fight against terrorist groups.

Iranian officials have constantly said that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) provides the Syrian army with advisory support in fight against terrorist groups. However, for the first time in early April reports broke regarding the involvement of Iranian Army forces in Syria.

New Aleppo assault casts fresh cloud over Syria peace talks
[DNAINDIA] Syria's army backed by Russian warplanes launched an assault north of Aleppo on Thursday, threatening to block a vital rebel route into the city in fighting that has cast new clouds over Geneva peace talks.

Syria's recent upsurge in fighting, particularly around the northern city of Aleppo, has proven the most acute challenge yet to a cessation of hostilities deal agreed in February and soured an already bleak mood as opposing sides gather in Geneva.

Outlining its bargaining position, the opposition High Negotiating Council (HNC) told Rooters it would be willing to share equally in a transitional council with the government, but repeated its rejection of a role for Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Light of the Alawites...
The Syrian government, buoyed by Russian and Iranian military support, has ruled out any discussion of the presidency. Moscow and Tehran have also rejected what they see as Western efforts to predetermine Assad's future.

The warring sides have sought to portray the fighting as the fault of the other, pushing towards breaking point a ceasefire that was designed to improve the political climate ahead of the Geneva talks. In addition to the Aleppo assault, heavy government air strikes were reported north of Homs, where a doctor described the most intense government bombardment since the cessation of hostilities agreement took effect.

In Aleppo, government forces and their allies were focused on the area around Handarat Camp, overlooking an important access point held by rebels into the city, which is split into zones held by the government and opposition.

"The escalation started at night. The area is of great importance. If the regime advances, this will tighten the grip on Aleppo," said Abdullah Othman, head of the politburo of the Levant Front rebel group.

US, allies target Islamic State with 21 strikes in Iraq, Syria
[Ynet] The US-led coalition staged 21 strikes on Wednesday against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
krazed killer group, according to the coalition leading the operations in Iraq and Syria.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Combined Joint Task Force said it conducted 17 strikes near seven Iraqi cities, including Hit, djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and Sinjar. Altogether, the strikes hit nine tactical units as well as a headquarters and a financial headquarters used by the krazed killers, among other targets.

In Syria, four strikes near Ar Raqqah and Mar'a hit an Islamic State tactical unit, a fighting position and an oil pump jack. Two strikes near Al Hawl had "inconclusive results," the task force said.
