[Mil.com] An F-22 Raptor pilot faces court-martial this October on charges of sexual assault, as well as striking and unlawfully grabbing an individual.
Col. Jason Costello, assigned to the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, is accused of multiple sexual assault incidents between 2012 and 2014, according to an Air Force charge sheet.
He has been charged with violating Article 120 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, defined as rape, sexual assault or other sexual misconduct.
Costello penetrated a woman while she was asleep in 2014, according to one specification. The act allegedly occurred in the state of Rhode Island sometime between October and December 2014, it states.
On an earlier occasion, Costello assaulted a woman without her consent, with an intent to gratify himself, sometime between September and November 2012, another specification reads.
Separately, "on diverse occasions between on or about Dec. 4, 2012, and on or about Aug. 1, 2014," Costello committed sexual contact by touching his victim's "breasts over her clothes with his hands and touching her vulva over her clothes with his hands" without her consent, the charge sheet states.
Another specification under Article 120 has been redacted. It is unclear if it has been removed.
We had a former SAC pilot on staff. He explained that Lappo had completely got away with it. That was until one of the crew got drunk at a party and spilled the beans.
This film is great. It has everything. At one point near the end they show just about every weapon in the Swiss armory being used, from rifle grenades to aerial bombs. They don't make 'em like this any more.

Even Atilla the Hun avoided Switzerland and went another way.
The Nazi Germans calculated they would lose over twenty Divisions trying to even threaten Switzerland. And just get laughed at for attempting the effort.
The Kentucky Long Rifle was originally a Swiss JAGER rifled Musket, adapted to American tastes. S'truth.

I pretty well decided no one in their right mind would screw with the Swiss when I was driving down a back road and saw an APC parked in some farmer's barn.
Most of their equipment is very decentralized and almost anyone with a pulse has a uniform and a rifle in their closet.
Saw some girls on bicycles with rifles slung across their backs riding down the road.
[DAWN] A Japanese politician has come under fire after saying women should have several children or risk becoming a burden on the state.
Kanji Kato, a 72-year-old MP in Prime Minister Shizo Abe’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), said newlyweds should raise at least three children.
The minister in charge of women’s empowerment on Saturday lashed out at his remarks. "It was a terrible gaffe," Seiko Noda, who is also internal affairs minister and a senior member of the LDP, said in a speech, according to local media.
Giving birth was different to making products, she said, adding: "The number of children won’t increase by just making such remarks."
Earlier this week Kato reportedly told a group of LDP members: "I ask bridal couples to bear and raise more than three children for sure." Kato also said he often told young women that if they do not get married and have no offspring, they will end up in a care home run with the taxes of other people’s children. Kato later retracted his remarks.
Rapidly-greying Japan has one of the world’s lowest birth rates and authorities are trying out several policies to encourage people to have more children. Last year about 941,000 children were born in Japan, the lowest since the national survey started in 1899.
In 2003, former prime minister Yoshiro Mori drew fire for suggesting childless women should be denied welfare payments in old age. In 2007, then-health minister Hakuo Yanagisawa infamously referred to women as "child-bearing machines".

Well, he's not wrong. Japanese aren't having children and it's going to destroy them.
The real reason is the increase in women's status. A woman won't accept a man lower than her. As her status increases, the pool of acceptable men becomes smaller and smaller. She'd rather stay barren than accept a lesser man. Dismal but true.

More unintended outcomes of science, the birth control pill, and denial of the natural order.

Population reduction in overcrowded Japan may not be a bad thing. Just don't rip up the social fabric by allowing in millions of foreign colonists to replace those missing workers.

They should consider paying for the DNA of different ladies who don't want children. Then the young can continue enjoying their tentacle videos, living with the parents, and playing computer games while Japanese science has a a chance to stave off extinction if the birth rate doesn't rise again at some point.

While White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders cherishes her role as a mother to three children 6 years and under, she doesn't shy away from the fact that there are difficult motherhood days – similar to dealing with CNN's Jim Acosta.
"Both of them whine pretty regularly. They both like to ask the same questions and sometimes their tone needs to be adjusted a little bit. So I think that having kids has prepared me for the job that I have right now," Sanders responded to the Daily Caller question: "What's more difficult: Dealing with your children on an onerous day or dealing with [CNN reporter] Jim Acosta?"
"In all seriousness, I think that having kids is great preparation for anything – especially a job you need patience for and they have certainly prepared me for this one," said Sanders, in the Mother's Day interview that also included White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway and White House Strategic Communications Director Mercedes Schlapp.

[DAWN] An eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted before being brutally murdered by her cousin in Nawabshah on Sunday, police said.
According to police, the fourth grader was alone at her home in Jamshed Colony area of Old Nawabshah at the time of the incident.
After sexually assaulting the maiden of tender years, the suspect strangulated her and cut her throat with a knife, police said.
The suspect then covered her body in a sheet and threw it in a livestock area near the house before fleeing the scene of the crime.
The maiden of tender years's parents told journalists that they had gone to a relative's house to offer condolences for someone's death. Upon returning home they were unable to find their daughter after which they rushed to inform the police who found her body in the nearby livestock farm.
The victim's parents said that they had been informed by their neighbours that their nephew (the father's sister's son) had come to the house in their absence.
The devastated couple demanded that the culprit be brought to justice for the brutal rape and murder of their young and innocent daughter.
Later, Incharge CIA police Mubin Parhyar told journalists that the police carried out several raids before finally nabbing the accused whom they found dressed in blood-covered clothes.

The cousin got ahead of himself there. The proper order of things is
1. Ask for 8 year old's hand in marriage.
2. If rejected, rape and cut her throat.
[DAWN] At least two villagers were killed and seven others maimed when a group of gunnies attacked Mehran Bijarani village in Shikarpur on Sunday.
According to reports, a group of gunnies belonging to the Teghani community attacked the village and killed two villagers identified as Ameer Bakhsh and Janib Khan and injured seven others identified as Walidad, Adam, Punhal, Ashraf, Gulsher, Muhammad Yahya and Muhammad Nooh, all of whom belonged to the Bijarani community.
Upon receiving word of the attack, the area police rushed to the spot and resorted to firing in order to stop the attackers. During the course of firing, two alleged criminals of the Teghani community were killed while other assailants managed to flee from the scene of the crime.
The area police shifted the bodies to Taluka Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Khanpur for post-mortem examination.
The injured were taken to the THQ hospital for medical attention but owing to their precarious condition, were referred to Civil Hospital Shikarpur for further medical treatment after provision of first aid.
SSP Shikarpur Masood Bangash confirmed the killing of four men including two criminals and said that "the police have controlled the situation and deployed a heavy contingent there to avoid further loss of precious lives".
He added that the police department has been working to devise a plan to cope with tribal festivities since his posting.
Shikarpur is infamous for deadly disputes and bloodshed over trivial issues between many tribes in Garhi Yasin Taluka and Khanpur Taluka.
Last year on July 3 at least 16 people, including three passersby on the road, were rubbed out over the course of a single day in deadly festivities between two groups of Jatoi rustics.
When police personnel had tried to enter the area to prevent further losses, the gunnies attacked with rocket launchers on the force's Armoured Personnel Carrier [APC] to keep them from entering the area.

Ambassadors from Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, and Hungary have snubbed an official E.U. diktat and chosen to attend a function in honor of Monday’s official inauguration of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.
Their decision to attend came after Viktor Orbán’s Hungary, supported by the Czech Republic and Romania, blocked a E.U. motion condemning President Donald Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the capital.
The three countries ‐ part of the Visegrad group of conservative, pro-sovereignty countries within the European Union ‐ blocked the joint statement led by Emmanuel Macron’s France, which was supposed to "embarrass and isolate" the Trump administration internationally.
Now the ambassadors of four dissenting E.U. nations will join an offical reception Sunday at the Israel Foreign Ministry in honor of the embassy move. This is in spite of the E.U. reiterating its opposition to the decision.
[Warrior Maven] The Army is fast-tracking newly configured Stryker vehicles armed with helicopter and drone-killing weapons to counter Russia in Europe and provide more support to maneuvering Brigade Combat Teams in combat.
"We are looking for a rapid solution for the near-term fight," Maj. Gen. John Ferarri, Director, Program Analysis and Evaluation, told Warrior Maven in an interview.
The Strykers will fire a wide range of weapons to destroy close-in air threats attacking maneuvering ground units, to potentially include Hellfire or Stinger missiles. The program, which plans to deploy its first vehicles to Europe by 2020, is part of an Army effort called short-range-air-defense - Initial Maneuver (SHORAD).
Senior leaders say the service plans to build its first Stryker SHORAD prototype by 2019 as an step toward producing 144 initial systems.
Given that counterinsurgency tactics have taken center stage during the last 15 years of ground wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Army now recognizes a need to better protect ground combat formations against more advanced, near-peer type enemy threats - such as drones, helicopters or low-flying aircraft.
"We are looking for an end to end system that is able to detect and defeat the rotary wing fixed wing and UAS (drone) threat to the maneuvering BCT (Brigade Combat Team)," Col. Charles Worshim, Project Manager for Cruise Missile Defense Systems, told Warrior Maven in an interview.

There is this strange device known as a Browning M2 machine gun that might be useful ... Oh? Too low tech, not sexy, no R&D Graft... Well, the prototype will be ready in 20202025 2419 to defeat the Airlords of Han, right?
Ma Duce only has a real range of maybe 1.5km and it isn't hitting a point target at that range. Drones and Helicopters can operate well outside a 5km range and can call in fire or hit targets within seconds.
A stinger which has a 5 mile range can even the odds pretty quickly against drones and helos.

DV, what I would like to see is a sensor/software mod for the CROWS turrets so they could better serve as light anti-air cannons. The Stryker SAM chassis are more of a higher level SAM asset that is aimed at forcing the enemy assets up to 10,000' where the fast movers can take a poke at them. If every Stryker could do AAD then the unit would be a porcupine....

The U.S. Department of Education has launched a Title IX investigation into Yale University amid allegations that the institution offers educational programs and scholarship opportunities that exclude men.
According to a letter dated April 26, the department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is investigating seven Yale initiatives, including the Yale Women Faculty Forum, the Working Women’s Network, the Yale University Women’s Organization, and the Yale Women’s Campaign School.
These initiatives allegedly provide, to varying degrees, scholarships, professional development, academic opportunities, and summer programs exclusively to female students and professors, the complaint alleges.
