GA manhunt: Escaped inmates accused of killing guards arrested in TN
[FOX] Two escaped Georgia inmates sought in the killing of two corrections officers were apprehended Thursday following a car chase in Tennessee.

Police in Shelbyville, Tenn. responded to a call about a home invasion, where Rowe and Dubose held an elderly couple captive and then fled in the couple's vehicle, Miles said. Officers responded and chased the pair. The inmates got into a wreck, left the vehicle and then led police on a foot chase before both men were taken into custody in Christiana, she said.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said Rowe and Dubose surrendered after fleeing into some woods. He said that shots were fired, but did not say by whom. The inmates were unharmed and there were no reports of injuries to law enforcement personnel.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh DeVine said the bureau's agents will take part in processing the scene. The Tennessee Department of Transportation said traffic was being diverted on Interstate 24 east in Rutherford County until about 11 p.m.

Authorities say Rowe and Dubose overpowered and killed Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue early Tuesday on a bus that should have been secured as it carried 33 inmates between prisons southeast of Atlanta.

Disgruntled Louisiana job hunters 'reportedly' open fire on F-150 and Trump sign in Indiana
[PJ] Several shots were fired at a truck flying a "Make America Great Again" flag and an American flag on a highway in Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon, Fox 59 reported. Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident, which looks like a possible case of left-wing terrorism.
Exact motive still under investigation.
Police say no one was in injured in the incident.

The driver of the Malibu was described as a black male around the age of 23. The passenger was described as a light skinned black male with a sleeve tattoo on his right arm.
Close enough to see a sleeve tatoo, how about a tag number ?
The incident came one day before a left-wing gunman opened fire on Republican lawmakers practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game.
Well, somebody shot at me. Who would open fire on his own F-150 ?
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, two congressional staffers and two Capitol Police officers were wounded in the attack. Roger Williams, 67, of Texas sustained a leg-ankle injury when he dove for cover into the dugout.

Scalise was shot in the hip and remains hospitalized in critical condition. MedStar Washington Hospital Center said in a statement Thursday night that Scalise "will be in the hospital for some time."

Man Who Robbed Bank to Avoid Living With Wife Sentenced to Home Confinement
[Free Beacon] A 71-year-old man who robbed a bank in Kansas City, Kan. to avoid living with his wife was sentenced to home confinement this week.

A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced Lawrence John Ripple to six months of home confinement; three years of supervised probation, including 50 hours of community service; and ordered him to pay $227.27 to the bank he robbed, according to the Kansas City Star.

Ripple robbed the Bank of Labor in Kansas City in September. He walked into the bank and handed a note to the bank teller that said, "I have a gun, give me money." After the bank teller handed over $2,924, Ripple sat down in the bank lobby waiting to be arrested by police.

Court records said Ripple wrote the note in front of his wife, telling her he would rather be in jail than live at home with her.

Chekasha Ramsey, Ripple's public defender, told U.S. District Court Judge Carlos Murguia that the defendant suffered from depression after undergoing heart surgery in 2015.

"Ripple said that he felt better after finding the right medication and said prison would be more of a punishment for his wife than for him," the Star reported.

I'm confused. He robbed the bank of $2,924, according to the article. Oughtn't he have to give back the entire sum? He can't have spent much as he waited quietly for the police to take him away to his jailhouse monastery.

Infowars boss alludes to 'secret love child' with former FOX regular, and more...
[MAIL] Alex Jones has released what he claims is a secretly recorded conversation between himself and FBI Director James Comey Megyn Kelly - and is threatening to release the full covertly-recorded audio of their controversial Carnival Cruise interview before it airs on Sunday.

The Infowars founder on Thursday night hit back at Kelly before the interview even airs, claiming the NBC host will misrepresent his views after she spent the week being hammered by all sides for interviewing the Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist.
NBC 'misrepresents' nearly all views. What makes you special ?
In a video posted to Jones' Twitter, a recording of an apparent pre-interview phone call between the two is played, with a woman who sounds like Kelly saying: 'All I can do is give you my word and tell you if there's one thing about me, I do what I say I'm gonna do, and I don't double-cross.'
STOP! Just fok'n stop !
'You know you just became very fascinating to me. I just always thought you were this maybe, one-dimensional guy, like this is your thing...'
'Fascinating?' No, that would be Indiana Jones, not Alex.
'My goal is MONEY for your listeners and the left - you know, who will be watching some on NBC - to say, "Wow, that was more media garbage really interesting."'

Sailor missing from USS Shiloh found on board... USS Shiloh
[Seattle Times] TOKYO -- An American sailor whose disappearance at sea last week prompted a search by American and Japanese ships of thousands of square miles of ocean was found alive onboard his ship on Thursday, the U.S. Navy said.

The U.S. 7th Fleet said the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Peter Mims of Interlachen, Florida, were being investigated. It said Mims would be transferred to another ship for a medical evaluation and recommendations for follow-on care.

In a statement, the Navy did not comment on Mims’ condition or say where he was found on his ship, the guided missile cruiser USS Shiloh.

Mims disappeared last Thursday when the ship was in Japan’s southern waters and was believed to have fallen into the sea. A search was suspended Sunday after more than 50 hours of effort by the U.S. and Japanese navies and Japan’s coast guard.

Meet the Capital Police Officers Who Neutralized The Shooter, Some After Being Shot

[CBSNews] The three Capitol Police officers who immediately returned fire when a gunman attacked a Republican baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, are being called heroes.

Special Agents Crystal Griner, David Bailey and Henry Cabrera were on the scene when James T. Hodgkinson opened fire.

Griner and Bailey rushed him, despite their own wounds.

CBS News correspondent Chip Reid reports that as a member of the Republican leadership Rep. Steve Scalise travels with a protective detail of Capitol Police officers, so it's a good thing he was at the practice on Wednesday because his security team kept that baseball field from becoming a killing field.

"I know as sure as I'm standing here right now that there's no way we would have lived through that," Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Michigan, told "CBS Evening News" anchor Scott Pelley.

Bishop said two of the agents rushed onto the field as the congressmen and staffers fled.

"The problem is that he's got a rifle and they've got handguns, and it's not a fair fight at that point in time," Bishop said. "They knew they weren't going to probably hit him. They just were trying to give us cover."

A third agent shot at the gunman from behind the first-base dugout, where Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Arizona, sought safety.

"I yelled out, 'Is this friendly? Is this friendly? Are you friendly?' to the person who was firing behind our dugout," Flake said, "and gratefully it was a member of the Capitol Police."

Griner was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to her ankle. She graduated in 2006 from Maryland's Hood College, where she played on the basketball team.

"She is amazing, and she's a hero," said retired Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine. "She epitomized what being a hero's all about."

Bailey was treated and released for a minor injury. He's from Brazil and graduated from North Carolina Central University in 2007.

His friend, Racheal Brooks, wasn't surprised by Bailey's heroics.

"He always talked about becoming a police officer, and I remember when he first shared that he was working in Washington, D.C., and that he was a police officer he was so proud," Brooks said.

Rep. Joe Barton was there with his two sons. His gratitude to the officers who saved them was clear.

"Capitol Hill police immediately began to return fire," Barton said, choking up.

That sentiment echoed throughout the Capitol.

"We are, as ever, awed by the tremendous bravery of the Capitol Police," House Speaker Paul Ryan said.

Survivors said that if the Capitol Police officers had not been there they would have been sitting ducks.

Father of Freed North Korean Prisoner Praises Trump, Knocks Obama: ‘The Results Speak for Themselves'
[Free Beacon] The father of the American who was recently sent home from North Korea praised the Trump administration on Thursday after his son was released and said the Obama administration's "results speak for themselves."

Fred Warmbier spoke to the media about his son Otto's comatose state and imprisonment by the North Korean regime. After thanking Sen. Rob Portman (R., Ohio) for his support and assistance, Warmbier recounted how his son was freed.

"When Otto was first taken, we were advised by the past administration to take a low profile while they worked to obtain his release," Warmbier said. "We did so without result. Earlier this year, Cindy and I decided the time for strategic patience was over, and we made a few media appearances and traveled to Washington to meet with Ambassador Joe Yun at the State Department."

He said it was his understanding that Ambassador Yun, at the direction of President Donald Trump, "aggressively pursued resolution of the situation."

"They have our thanks for bringing Otto home," he said.

Turkish opposition party begins protest march from capital
[IsraelTimes] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s main opposition party sets off on a 425-kilometer (265 mile) march from the capital to an Istanbul prison to protest the conviction of one of its politicians. Thousands begin walking from Ankara, with police at the scene.

The leader of the pro-secular Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, calls the "march for justice" after parliamentarian Enis Berberoglu was convicted and sentenced to 25 years for revealing state secrets.

Kilicdaroglu calls the verdict "palace-motivated," a reference to President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
. "Let the whole world hear, we are facing a dictatorial regime in Turkey, in our own land," he says.

The case of Berberoglu, a former journalist and politician, stems from a 2015 story by the Cumhuriyet newspaper suggesting Turkey’s intelligence service had smuggled weapons to Salafist tough guys in Syria. His lawyer has appealed the verdict.

8-Year-Old Drag Queen Lactatia Is Giving Essential Drag Advice
[PaperMag] Sometimes the best people to look up to are the ones you have to look down to, at least physically. That is certainly the case with aspiring drag queen Lactacia, who has taken the world by storm at only eight years old after getting brought on stage in full drag at Bianca Del Rio's show. Now, the pint-sized queen is everywhere, giving drag performances and offering guidance to other aspiring queens everywhere, as evidenced in this new interview with LGBT in the City.

"I think that anyone can do what they want in life," Lactacia said in the interview. "It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. If you wanna be a drag queen and your parents don't let you, you need new parents! If you wanna be a drag queen and your friends don't let you, you need new friends!" As you can see, no major life changes are needed to become a drag queen. Watch the full interview below.

Cattle slaughter crackdown ripples through India’s leather industry
Unexpected consequences? Oh dear.
[DAWN] In the backstreets of Agra’s Moslem quarter, where shoes have been made for centuries, small-scale manufacturers are firing workers and families cutting back on spending as a government crackdown on cattle slaughter ripples through the community.

The election of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) three years ago has emboldened right-wing Hindu groups to push harder for protection of the cow, an animal they consider sacred.

Authorities in India’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, started closing down unlicenced abattoirs in March, immediately hitting production and sales in the Moslem-dominated meat industry.

Last month Modi’s government also banned trading cattle for slaughter, including not just cows, whose killing was already outlawed in most states, but also buffalo, an animal used for meat and leather.

Now the squeeze is spreading to others in the Moslem minority and to lower-caste Hindus who cart cattle, labour in tanneries and make shoes, bags and belts -- including for big name brands such as Zara and Clarks.

Frequent attacks by right-wing Hindus against workers they accuse of harming cattle have further rattled the industry.

Teenage victim fighting for her life after being shot by cousin
[DAWN] The Human Rights Commission of Pakistain (HRCP) on Wednesday drew the attention of National Commission on Human Rights (NCHR) towards an attempted honour killing case in the federal capital.

The teenaged victim is in a coma at the Pakistain Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) and doctors are not optimistic about her chances. Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Kinnison began his slow infiltration of the sewer system...
the suspected attacker is yet to be placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
and the NCHR has directed the inspector general of the police (IGP) to submit a report on the case.

A letter sent by the HRCP to the NCHR states that on June 9 the girl, aged between 16 and 17, was shot thrice allegedly by her cousin in the Nilore village.

Seven months ago, the father of the girl, who belongs to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
and is settled in the Nilore village, decided to marry her off to a man much older than her. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
the girl left her home with a boy belonging to a local community.

Four days later, the couple was caught at Khanna Pul and brought back home. The girl was beaten and locked up inside the home. On June 9, the letter says, while the girl was reading the Koran at home, her cousin shot her and fled.

"Her father filed an FIR with the Nilore police the same day and is not ready to reach any compromise with his nephew though the family pressure might force him to do so."
"You destroyed my chief asset, you pollock! Now I have a permanent expense to support her, and no chance of selling her on the wife market."
Shahla Rafi, a social worker and a resident of the same locality, told Dawn that she reported the case to the HRCP as most of the honour killings cases were never reported or not pursued by families.

"Though the father had earlier beaten his daughter, I believe that he did not want to kill her. The cousin of the girl, who was allegedly drunk, shot her three times and fled."
Drunk? I suggest Papa demands his nephew's family supply him with a suitable replacement for the girl or the equivalent brideprice to what she was formerly worth on threat of feud. Or the lad himself to work off the value of what he destroyed, though the labour of an impulsive drunkard isn't likely to be worth much.
The girl wanted to marry a local person but her family was against it, Ms Shahla said.

Human Rights Commissioner for Islamabad Chaudhry Mohammad Shafique told Dawn that the HRCP approached him on Wednesday.

"I immediately contacted the IGP and directed him to submit a report about the incident and the progress on the arrest of the suspect," he said.

"Moreover, as such victims don’t get proper care at hospitals I have also sought a report from Pims regarding treatment being provided to the girl and her condition."

Mr Shafique said though the father of the girl had lodged an FIR against the suspect, in a number of cases cousins or brothers killed women and in the end the fathers forgave them in the courts.

"So it will be very important to record the statement of the girl and in case she does not survive the statement of her mother will be very important," he said.

A political figure of the area, requesting anonymity, said efforts were underway to hush up the case. NCHR Chairman retired Justice Ali Nawaz Chohan told Dawn that normally the commission does not interfere in the investigation of the police but when it is learnt that the investigation has been stopped or slowed down the rights watchdog seeks a report from the police.

"We will definitely look into the issue so that the girl gets justice. We did the same in the Taiba Bibi torture case and questioned the police," he said.

Government
Jeff Sessions Ends Holder-era Slush Fund Designed to Funnel Money to Obama Allies
[LI] Under Eric Holder, the DOJ established a scheme by which the Executive could bypass Congress’ power of the purse and funnel money to Obama’s political allies. Companies targeted by the DOJ would agree to settlements, and part of the financial settlement was then ordered to be paid to left-wing interest groups such as La Raza. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has a put a stop to this "slush fund."

Writing in 2015, the Wall Street Journal explained the slush fund scheme.
Republicans talk often about using the "power of the purse" to rein in a lawless Obama administration. If they mean it, they ought to use their year-end spending bill to stop a textbook case of outrageous executive overreach.

This scandal comes courtesy of the Justice Department, which for 16 months has engaged in a scheme to undermine Congress’s spending authority by independently transferring dollars to President Obama’s political allies. The department is in the process of funneling more than half-a-billion dollars to liberal activist groups, at least some of which will actively support Democrats in the coming election.

It works likes this: The Justice Department prosecutes cases against supposed corporate bad actors. Those companies agree to settlements that include financial penalties. Then Justice mandates that at least some of that penalty money be paid in the form of "donations" to nonprofits that supposedly aid consumers and bolster neighborhoods.

The Justice Department maintains a list of government-approved nonprofit beneficiaries. And surprise, surprise: Many of them are liberal activist groups. The National Council of La Raza. The National Urban League. The National Community Reinvestment Coalition. NeighborWorks America (which awards grants to left-leaning community organization groups, and has been compared with Acorn).
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee stated that the slush fund scheme was so egregious that "someone should go to jail."

Nothing like overthrowing the fundamental of the legislative control of the purse strings. At least one English king lost his head over that game.

#6  Congress has to outlaw this practice by passing a law. Otherwise, some future leftist regime will reinvent it.

#7  ...as though following the law means anything to the Left. Even if they do, they have life sitting party members who will allow them to ignore the law aka the judiciary.

#8  So long as HRC and her aides remain completely free of indictment, you're going to have a pretty uphill battle convincing the rest of us that we are a nation of laws. For God's sake SOMEBODY broke law with that STUPID private server in a BATHROOM. Is it REALLY that fucking hard to make somebody an example for such illegal bullshit?

Justice Dept. issues statement warning against believing anonymous sources
[The Hill] The Justice Department issued a statement Thursday night warning the media and other Americans against believing anonymous sources, and warning that the Justice Department doesn't confirm statements from unnamed officials.

"Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous 'officials,' particularly when they do not identify the country - let alone the branch or agency of government - with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated," Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein wrote Thursday.

"Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations," the statement continues. "The Department of Justice has a long-standing policy to neither confirm or deny such allegations."

Many reporters quickly pointed out the statement as bizarre on Twitter, speculating that the Justice Department was attempting to squash existing leaks, or possible a story that hasn't yet been reported. It not immediately made clear if the statement was in reference to a specific story.

#1  Hat tip to the Deputy Attorney General for the reminder regarding rumor, innuendo, and media bullshi*. His memo however, does appear to conflict with the need for the work of Robert S. Mueller III, as a special counsel.

Without rumor, innuendo, and media bullshi* what does Mueller really have to work with ?

Trump Orders Government to Stop Work on Y2K Bug, 17 Years Later
[BLOOMBERG] Seventeen years after the Year 2000 bug came and went, the federal government will finally stop preparing for it.

The Trump administration announced Thursday that it would eliminate dozens of paperwork requirements for federal agencies, including an obscure rule that requires them to continue providing updates on their preparedness for a bug that afflicted some computers at the turn of the century. As another example, the Pentagon will be freed from a requirement that it file a report every time a small business vendor is paid, a task that consumed some 1,200 man-hours every year.

"We’re looking for stuff everyone agrees is a complete waste of time," Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told news hounds at the White House. He likened the move to the government "cleaning out our closets."

Deregulation is a major ambition of President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s agenda; as one example, he has signed more laws rolling back his predecessor’s regulations than the combined total of the three previous presidents since the process was established by the 1999 Congressional Review Act.
To be fair, between his predecessor's phone & pen and his encouragement of the bureaucratic drive to write regulations, a great many more regulations than usual were written in the past eight years. It's a proper Augean stables, needing a Niagara Falls to hose out.
Seven of the more than 50 paperwork requirements the White House eliminated on Thursday dealt with the Y2K bug, according to a memo OMB released. Officials at the agency estimate the changes could save tens of thousands of man-hours across the federal government.

DHS Shuts Down Anti-Deportation Office

[Breitbart] President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security has deep-sixed an Obama-era program to have 21 taxpayer-funded agency officials cooperate with anti-deportation, pro-amnesty groups.
