UK Labour Antisemitism: Turmoil As Top Lawyer Departs, Contentious Retweet
Another own goal as Britain’s left wing hurtles down into insignificance. May our own soon follow, both to be replaced by honourable loyal oppositions.
[Jpost] The UK Labour party's response to antisemitism is in turmoil after its top lawyer stepped down from his role on Friday, The Independent reported.

Gordon Nardell QC, a key figure hired by the party last year to help tackle Labour's disturbing antisemitism problem, added to the renewed pressure the party was facing this week, following a contentious retweet by the party's incoming head of membership, Jules Rutherford on Thursday.

Rutherford, who is due to start the job on Monday, shared a tweet by 'Jack Jazz' which claimed antisemitism allegations against party members are being used as a "political weapon" to "smear" party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The tweet included a video in which Professor Norman Finkelstein described the antisemitism claims as "witch-hunt hysteria" and was subsequently removed from Rutherford's feed following a request for comment from Labour by PoliticsHome.

Labour has been in damage control for some time over rampant antisemitism allegations and will now be forced to find a new lawyer to defend the party, following Mr Nardell’s departure.

Party sources told The Independent that a documentary which is set to be aired on the BBC's Panorama program is said to contain further damaging allegations about antisemitism. This, according to the sources, may have led Nardell to quit.

The documentary has the party leadership "running around in panic," sources quoted by The Independent said.

"Gordon Nardell’s tenure as General Consel will be remarkable only for the absolute chaos and political manipulation within the Governance and Legal Unit that took place on his watch," a spokesperson for the Jewish Labour movement (JLM) said.

"The party leadership’s total failure to address anti-Jewish racism has led to the EHRC [Equality and Human Rights Commission] launching a statutory investigation into institutional racism following JLM’s referral. It is unsurprising that he has now resigned."

"The leadership must be held accountable for the culture of harassment, intimidation and causal racism that has gripped the Party, and follow Nardell’s example."

JLM chair Mike Katz tweeted earlier on Friday that the retweet by Labour's incoming head of membership, Jules Rutherford, was "just awful, but who's surprised?"

"This is why EHRC are investigating the Party for institutional anti-Jewish racism," he said. "In today's party, you virtue-signal by being casually racist." Implying the party's culture is such, that in order to be accepted by other members antisemitic comments are required of its members.

Hillary Clinton Withdraws As Cybersecurity Conference Keynote, Citing ‘Unforeseen Circumstance'
[Daily Caller] Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton withdrew from the cybersecurity conference where she was scheduled to be the keynote speaker, citing an "unforeseen circumstance," according to an email from the FireEye Cyber Defense Summit.

Clinton ‐ who infamously transmitted classified information over a homemade server once housed in her bathroom ‐ was the centerpiece of the October 9-10 summit in Washington, where Clinton was to have "engage[d] in a Q&A discussion with FireEye CEO, Kevin Mandia on the geopolitical landscape and its implications for global cyber security today."

The FireEye "Cyber Defense Summit brings together many of the world’s leading security experts, frontline heroes, government leaders, and executives from various industries to address the challenges of today’s threat landscape," its website says.

An email from FireEye sent Tuesday said "Due to an unforeseen circumstance, Secretary Clinton will no longer be able to participate in this year’s conference. Additional speakers will be announced as confirmed. We look forward to hosting attendees in October with a comprehensive program at our 10th annual event."

Trump’s Fourth of July Speech Was Patriotism over Politics
[BREITBART] Former vice president Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant....
said, prior to the speech, that the event had been "designed more to stroke Trump’s ego than celebrate American ideals." (This from a politician who served under Barack Obama
I inhaled. That was the point...
, who not only made virtually every speech about himself, but dared to re-design the presidential seal in his own image.)

Biden could not have been more wrong. Trump’s speech was all about the country ‐ its heroes, its people, and its democratic ideals.

Trump, in the rain, addressed the nation and re-told the heroic story of its founding. "With a single sheet of parchment, and 56 signatures, America began the greatest political journey in human history," Trump said, recalling the battles that followed to secure the freedom for which the Founders had fought.

He went on to tell the story of American success ‐ not just in politics and war, but also in science, medicine, technology, industry, exploration, culture, and civil rights.

Trump boldly spoke the truths that have been suppressed in our media and on our campuses. His speech was not only moving, but necessary. The history he related, and the achievements he celebrated, are unknown to a generation raised to see our country as flawed, if not evil.

The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

declares today that America is not the "greatest," but "just OK"; Vice tells readers America "has always been bad." That is the new poisonous orthodoxy; Trump provided the antidote.

More than that, Trump celebrated the ordinary people who constantly renew our country’s potential.

He acknowledged Tina "Angel" Belcher, who "turns her tiny kitchen into a disaster relief center" for hurricane victims; he thanked Sister Deidre Byrne for aiding the maimed on September 11, 2001; he honored Clarence Henderson, who led the historic sit-in at the Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1960; he also praised the suffragette movement.

Trump thanked the military, and law enforcement, and Gold Star families. And he offered a moving tribute to each of the five branches of the armed forces, recounting the history of each, noting its greatest deeds.

The military band sang and played the song of each branch as its aircraft flew overhead. Trump used the opportunity to urge young Americans to join the armed forces: how often has any president made such a direct appeal, against such a moving backdrop?

This was not a political speech: it was a patriotic milestone. Trump invited us to celebrate our country ‐ boldly and explicitly. It was, somehow, something previous presidents were too timid to do.

When Navy SEALS killed the late Osama bin Laden
... who is no longer with us, and won't be again...
in 2011, it took a visiting leader, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to urge us to celebrate, weeks later.

No longer. This is the greatness Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
promised to restore. Future presidents will bear a duty to do the same.

#1  Of course, the left hated it. This from Salon:

Trump's fake patriotism was sophomoric and insulting. So of course his voters loved it

Trump's Fourth of July celebration was soggy, lame and shamelessly ignorant. The Red Hat gargoyles ate it up

And that just to get your attention. The first paragraph:

Donald Trump’s Fourth of July speech was sophomoric. The fly-overs were anemic. The pairs of Bradley fighting vehicles and M1-A2 tanks were practically invisible. Everyone was soaked to the skin. They even played the hoary redneck anthem, “I’m Proud to Be an American.”

The author of this venom-filled piece was Lucian K. Truscott IV, his grandfather, Lucian Jr was a US Army general during World War II where he commanded the 3rd Infantry Division and later the Fifth Army in Italy.

#3  How can you not love the 4th? It's about speaking Truth to Power and overthrowing an oppressive government.

Yes, back in 1776 it did involv men and guns so that part is a bit icky. But isn't it the dream of every revolutionary to be revolting?
(hmm, not sure if that came out right)

#4  Thomas Jefferson is his great-great-great-great-grandfather. Probably grew up resenting his grandfather's legacy and his daddy too. Could never fill those boots. Made constant trouble at the Military Academy, activism and unionizing the cadets, litigation - forcing the academy to end the compulsory prayer in all academies Bravo !

He alone of the honored clan achieved, "general discharge under other than honorable conditions."

Biden: Russia Election Interference Wouldn’t Have Happened ‘on My Watch And Barack’s Watch’
[NEWS.GRABIEN] BIDEN: "Look at what’s happening with Putin. While Putin is trying to undo our elections, he is undoing elections in Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
. Look at what’s happening in Hungary, look what’s happening in Poland, look what’s happening. You think that would happen on my watch or Barack’s watch? You can’t answer that, but I promise it wouldn’t have, and it didn’t."

Certainly true as a general principle, but this was a barbeque joint (although in DC). We may need to get a ruling from the judges.

#9  Assuming that's an honest question, BP, it's because some people brand those who do not think like the leftists think they should think as Nazis.

They do not understand the derivation of the terms, and don't care.

Trump + supporters = double-plus ungood = Nazis. A simple equation for the simple-minded.

#10  Gentlemen take off their hat when they enter a church, office building, or restaurant.

That used to be true, just as ladies did not wear white after Labour Day. Alas, we live in degenerate times.

Also, looking at the Hill Country website, people go there as much for the bands as they do the barbecue. The music is Americana, Country, and Western, so a certain kind of clientele should be assumed, especially in New York City and Washington, DC.. Mr, Helmstetter went looking for trouble exactly where he expected to find it.

How can they be National Socialists?

Nazi has become the pejorative of choice for Donks much like the other 'n' word they employed towards blacks for most of the 20th Century. It has no context to the original meaning (sort of like SCOTUS interpretation of the Constitution).
