-Election 2012
Obama campaign runs deficit in June
Just as with the federal budget. The man can spend money...
WASHINGTON -- Amid a heavy barrage of advertising by opposing "super" political groups, President Barack Obama's re-election campaign spent more than it collected in June. While outraised again by Republican Mitt Romney, Obama ended the month with a hefty $97.5 million in the bank.

June was the second consecutive month in which Romney brought in more money than Obama, finance reports filed Friday show. Romney's money advantage prompted Obama's campaign advisers to warn earlier this month that the president could lose the election if the financial disparity continued.

Obama tried to answer the super PACs supporting Romney by spending $38.2 million on television advertising. Romney spent less than a third of that - $10.4 million - on TV time.

Romney's campaign nearly doubled its spending in June compared with the previous month, underscoring the close proximity of the November general election in which Republicans hope to unseat Obama and, in part, dismantle the president's signature health care overhaul.

Much of Romney's financial advantage - he raised $106 million last month with the help of the Republican Party - came from larger donations in a handful of battleground states. Those included Florida, where the Romney Victory Fund pulled in about $4.4 million in individual contributions, records show.

Competing fiercely to keep the presidency, Obama reported more than $46 million in June and total spending of $58 million. The Democratic Party reported $37.5 million in the bank.

Romney, during the same period, reported receipts of $33 million and spending of $27.5 million for June. The challenger's cash on hand was almost a mirror image of Obama's and the DNC's, as Romney reported $22.5 million in the bank and the Republican National Committee said it had $89.4 million.

#1  The One is sure burnin' it up in DC. He's on all the time, saying how a woman should have the right to choose her body and her healthcare, and Mittens is going to - singlehandedly - deprive women of Planned Parenthood.

Did he say women have a right to choose their healthcare? Why, I believe he did!

#2  And so they do, Bobby, and should.

On the other hand, I am not obliged to pay for it.

#3  Obama campaign runs deficit in June

...not counting the donations from non-traceable credit cards, that may or may not originate from overseas. Worked last time.

#4  My fear is he will not let go of of his kingdome, even if he loses the election. I'm waiting for the giant crisis to come where he can postpone the elections if it looks like he will lose. His lack of funds will not slow him down, he will use tax dollares or China will come in as a super pac or some other sillyness that we can not stop before he steals another election.

#5  Pan -

That thought has become more and more troubling to me as time goes by. Imagine for a second that he's down by just a few points and gaining say, a week before the election. Just a day or two before, The One then goes on TV and announces the FBI has broken up a ring that was planning to rig electronic voting machines on election day. Of course, those responsible have escaped, and absolutely NO connection can be found between this and the Republican candidate, or the Republican party leadership...but EVERY machine has to be individually inspected, and that could take seven to ten days. Therefore, he is reluctantly asking the Supreme Court to postpone the election until Tuesday the 16th to insure a safe, fair election.

I'm sorry. With this DoJ behind this with all of its weight, and the huge amounts of better-safe-than-sorry evidence they'll almost certainly have, this SCOTUS will buy off on it. And The One will have the few extra days he'll need to close the gap. The media will deify the man even worse than they did the last time, him standing up for fair elections and all that. Congress won't lift a finger to stop him.

And we'll be wondering what happens next....

#6  Perhaps he can direct Leon Panetta to pen a memorandum to send to all its branches of the Defense Department making the allowance for the San Diego event even though its policy generally bars troops from marching in uniform in parades. .....directing nationwide sodomite military fund raising parades.

#9  Police Shooting in Anaheim Leads to Violent Clash

If Champ faces defeat, incidents such as the above could perhaps provide fuel for a gov't martial law scenario.

#11  Paper ballots, hand counted. Voting is a state and local function, managed by volunteers at the behest of the secretaries of the various states, not a federal one, and at the moment an awful lot of them are Republican.

Besides, neither the armed forces nor the law enforcement forces would acquiesce to such a plan, no matter the opinion of the attorney general.

badanov, I have now learnt a new vocabulary word.

Besoeker, how many of those $1,000 plate were discounted? That's been the pattern with that lot this election season.

#12  No discounted plates this go TW. The audience was made up of the "highest 2% of earners".

#13  There are a bunch of different issues here, but the common premise is that Champ firmly believes that the end justifies the means.

1- Assuming Romney can win straight-up, which I think he can, how many extra votes does he have to get to offset the dead, illegal and just plain made-up voters for Champ? (And of course even to get there Romney has to survive the MSM blitz that's going to intensify as the days go past.)

2- If he makes it past that hurdle, how many votes does Romney have to get to discourage Champ from throwing the election into court? The 2000 election would still be in litigation if the Goracle to his credit hadn't decided that enough was enough.

The answer to (1) and (2) is an awful lot and even more.

But, as Churchill was fond of saying, all we can do is Keep Buggering On. We'll get through it. But I suppose I am paranoid enough to be very interested in knowing where the Army brigades, Marine battalions, and SF detachments are in November.

#14  The very basic issue is that zero hold the american people, the constitution, and our very basic beliefs in contempt. I don't trust him or his staff and I feel they believe that the end justifies the means, to include dumping all over our basic rule of law.

#15  I honestly can't understand how anyone in their right mind can possibly cast a ballot for Obama in 2012. I could see it in 2008, being swept up in all the "historic" crap, but now? No. Incompetence crosses all social lines.

#17  I honestly can't understand how anyone in their right mind can possibly cast a ballot for Obama in 2012.

Pillagers and looters stick with their benefactors. You have an entire strata of society that refers to the redistribution as "Obama Money" without any concept where the money comes from, but they can certainly vote. Vote themselves more money, they do.

#18  I can't wait until Inauguration Day when Romney is being sworn into office with Michelle and Barack sitting off to the side as the LOSERS! I can't wait to see the expressions on their faces as they sit there in full realization that they BLEW IT! Is that too much to ask?
