[Newsmax] Anyone who believes in the Second Amendment should be wary if Sen. Kamala Harris becomes the next vice president of the United States, sitting a heartbeat away from the White House.
Harris is no better than Beto "hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15s" O'Rourke on the issue of gun control, which should also incentivize Republicans to drive down to the polls and vote in person.
One year ago, Harris tweeted that she would "take executive action to:
"Revoke the licenses of gun manufacturers & dealers that break the law.
"Require anyone who sells more than 5 guns/yr to run a background check on all gun sales.
"Ban the importation of AR-15-style assault weapons."
On May 20 of this year, Harris said she would also ban states from enacting "stand your ground" laws, which permit armed homeowners to defend themselves against the threat of murder, rape, kidnapping or bodily harm rather than retreat.
Speaking to the Michael Bloomberg-founded Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun control advocacy nonprofit, Harris called such laws "racist" because they often target people of color.
"@KamalaHarris gets it," Everytown reported. "She knows that racist Stand Your Ground laws make communities less safe and that solving America's gun violence crisis requires common-sense, proven solutions. We can't wait to elect her as our next vice president!"
Eliminating "stand your ground" laws would mean that any intended victim would have to retreat from the danger rather than defend his life and that of his loved ones.
Biden's vice presidential pick hasn't escaped the notice of the National Rifle Association. It observed that Biden and Harris were practically Siamese twins when it came to scrapping gun rights.
"Biden Chooses 2nd Amendment-Hating @KamalaHarris as his VP," the NRA tweeted.
"Harris's presidential campaign died soon after announcing extreme gun control agendas. Her plan was to ignore democratic processes & enact gun control by executive order. Biden & Harris will dismantle the 2nd Amendment."
And that's not necessarily hyperbole.
Biden would, according to his campaign website, promote a sweeping gun control program that would include:
Support for a ban on assault weapons, which he mischaracterizes as "weapons of war."
Hold gun manufacturers liable for acts of gun violence.
Restrict the number of firearms a person may possess.
Incentivize states to enact "red flag" laws and gun registries.
When New York Attorney General Letitia James sued the NRA to have the gun rights organization dissolved, Harris sent her congratulations.
"The @NRA bought the president and promotes members of Congress that turn a blind eye to the gun violence epidemic," she tweeted.
"It takes leaders with courage to stand up to them—thank you, @TishJames."
As I recall, the slow-fire strings were 10 minutes each and the rapid-fire were 20 seconds with a mandatory reload. All bulls-eye targets. 50 rounds total, possible score 250. 190 for Marksman, 210 for Sharpshooter and 220 for Expert.

Dems: We'll do nothing to stop riots and theft and mugging.
Dems: We want to take your guns so YOU can do nothing to stop riots and theft and mugging.
Dems, the party that's pro riots and theft and mugging.
I suppose it is a form of decentralised "redistribution" of wealth. Mugging is personal socialism.

[WashingtonExaminer] A top GOP senator faced a grilling from a conservative radio show host over not yet subpoenaing ex-officials, such as fired FBI Director James Comey, in his inquiry into the "Russiagate" controversy.
Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, was pressed by Hugh Hewitt during his radio show on Wednesday morning. The conservative commentator said Republican voters are frustrated that Johnson and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham have not called in Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, or fired FBI special agent Peter Strzok to testify under oath about what the host called “an attempted coup” against President Trump.
“Well, first of all, I need approval of my committee members,” Johnson said. He added that “it was tough enough” getting subpoenas approved against Blue Star Strategies in his inquiry into the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy and allegations of corruption related to former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
The Wisconsin Republican also said that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had assigned Graham “to really investigate that portion of the corruption.” Johnson emphasized how, with his committee being made up of eight Republicans and six Democrats, “if I lose one, I lose the vote … I had a devil of a time just getting the subpoena authority that I got.”
But in June, Johnson's committee voted to give him the authority to subpoena Comey, Brennan, Strzok, and numerous others, including former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Thus far, Johnson has not subpoenaed any of those people to testify.
"Chairman Johnson is committed to running a thorough investigation into abuses by the Obama administration toward the Trump campaign,” a spokesperson for Johnson told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday. “Committee members want Chairman Johnson to attempt to get voluntary compliance, and also to be fully prepared for interviews by obtaining necessary documents, before compelling testimony. Chairman Johnson has been working for months to gather documents and information from witnesses on a voluntary basis but will subpoena witnesses when necessary. And as he has mentioned, his patience is wearing thin."
Hewitt told Johnson, “The election is here, and whether it’s you or Lindsey, we’re out of time. You guys have blown the time … We’ve waited three years for someone to put Comey under oath — you or Lindsey — I’ll blame you both.”
When asked if he would publicly commit to bringing a subpoena for Comey up for a vote during the next committee hearing, Johnson said, “Not on a radio show, Hugh.”
Johnson said he was pursuing documents to assist with future questioning, calling Comey “a slippery character, so you need documents to effectively question him.” The Senate chairman emphasized that he had subpoenaed current FBI Director Christopher Wray for a host of documents related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation just a few days ago. He also pointed to the revelations from a newly declassified document from Sunday that showed that the FBI apparently misled the Senate Intelligence Committee in early 2018 about the reliability of British ex-spy Christopher Steele's anti-Trump dossier.
But when pressed by Hewitt about “which Republican doesn’t want to get to the bottom of this” Trump-Russia controversy, Johnson said, “We had a number of my committee members that were highly concerned about how this looks politically.” The radio show host asked for the identity of the “screw-up” on the committee blocking subpoenas, but the Republican senator declined and said, “I’m just not going to be naming names that way."
“I have had it with Republicans in the Senate not calling up anyone that we want to hear from,” Hewitt retorted. “I had the president on yesterday, and he says it goes far beyond the FBI into the intelligence community … Documents don’t matter. Videotape and witnesses matter.”
According to Politico reporter Kyle Cheney, Johnson's committee now says no one is blocking any subpoenas for Comey/Brennan, rather there's just a desire to exhaust all options to get them to testify voluntarily.

Yes, yes... all in good time of course, then down the memory hole.

More of the usual theater. Even if forced to show up, Comey et al will all suddenly come down with acute amnesia. Odds of learning anything new? Zero.

Ditto what Hewitt and others here have said. D.C. is a self-serving circus. Nearly 4 years have passed since the three-ring circus kicked off against Trump and his administration and nothing has happened to provide justice for the guilty.

/\ Quite revealing isn't it John. If one had doubts about Washington before, those doubts have all been erased after what we witnessed and continue to witness with the Orange Man's saga.
Donald Trump simply doesn't fit into their fraternity, and we (the deplorables) have been dutifully informed.

And what do we notice almost immediately, boys and girls?
Dunno what I'm supposed to notice. But what I do notice is that they're all smiling. Considering the piss poor job they're all doing, they have to have a lotta damn nerve to smile like that. I'd be ashamed.

This is the only chance, the only recourse that citizens of Seattle have. It's too late for them to sell their homes and move. Nobody would buy a home in Seattle these days. They're stuck so they can either fix it or sit and watch it become Detroit.

[KIRO7] Some members of the African American community say racism prompted Seattle's first Black female police chief to retire.
They are blaming one of Seattle's most diverse city councils ever. They point out there are no Black people on the City Council for the first time since the 1960s. And they believe racism forced Carmen Best to leave her job as the city's top cop.
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best wouldn't call out the Seattle City Council.
"Yeah, I'm not using that harsh word," she said.
Neither would Mayor Jenny Summer of Love Durkan ...Democrat Maress of Seattle, who allowed a chunk of the downtown of her city to be turned into an autonomous combat zone... , her boss.
"They wanted to micromanage and play mini-police chief," was all Durkan would say. "It showed a complete of respect." Lack of a "lack"?
"This is an anti-Blackness issue at the highest level," declared police accountability activist Harriett Walden.
Unlike Best and Durkan, Walden did not hesitate to blame racism among the city's diverse City Council for forcing Best out.
"So people of color, at the end of the day, they don't always stand for us," she said.
Walden says she sees the "anti-Blackness" on the current council.
"That's right," she said. "I see it on this council. Because they wouldn't have done it against O'Toole. I don't care how many people was in the streets marching. There's no way they would have defunded the police department with a white lady."
It was largely due to Walden's strong advocacy that Best was sworn in to the top job almost two years ago.
She replaced Kathleen O'Toole, the city's first female police chief.
But activists said then Best's nearly three decades with SPD would likely not produce radical change.
Rev. Kenneth Ransfer, pastor of the Greater Mount Baker Missionary Baptist Church and among Best's most steadfast supporters, believes she was ultimately wronged by a council led by people of color.
"We have colorism within our own community," said Ransfer. "So I mean the move, to me, was an attack upon a Black woman, one of our first Black police chief(s)."
Reverend Walden says she now wants an initiative to change back to city wide voting for the City Council.
She believes that it will create a more diverse body that cares about the entire city.

They have a point. After all, the majority of the rioters and looters are white so of course you don't want a black police chief harshing their mellow.
Not only are they white but they are fuggin' ugly.
[WASHINGTONTIMES] New York City Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio ...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him... broke with Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo on trying to lure wealthy New Yorkers back to the city, saying he’s confident that "fair-weather" residents will be replaced by others.
"There’s been an uptick in crime, but it is a problem directly related to the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... ," Mr. de Blasio said at a press briefing Thursday. "I think you’ll see a certain number of people who leave and after an appropriate time, after there’s a vaccine, will come back. I think you’ll see some people who maybe decide they want a different kind of lifestyle. I think a lot of those people will be replaced by other people coming in.
"For decades now, as people have left New York City they’ve been replaced, and then some, by more and more people coming in. So, I think that pattern will start again over the next couple of years," he said.
The mayor’s comments came after the governor revealed he was personally pleading with rich New Yorkers to return to their homes in Manhattan.
"I literally talk to people all day long who are now in their Hamptons house who also lived here, or in their Hudson Valley house, or in their Connecticut weekend house, and I say, ’You got to come back! When you coming back? We’ll go to dinner! I’ll buy you a drink! Come over, I’ll cook!’" Mr. Cuomo said.
Mr. de Blasio and Democratic state politicians want to raise taxes on the wealthy to help offset the state’s $30 billion coronavirus-related deficit, but Mr. Cuomo claimed that could cause the wealthy residents who fled to never return.
Mr. de Blasio said he isn’t interested in making "decisions based on the wealthy few."
"I was troubled to hear this concept that because wealthy people have a set of concerns about the city that we should accommodate them, that we should build our policies and approaches around them," he said. "That’s not how it works around here anymore. This city is for New Yorkers. This city is for people who live here, work here, fight to make this place better, fight through this crisis. So, there’s a lot of New Yorkers who are wealthy, who are true believers in New York City and will stand and fight with us. And there are some who may be fair-weather friends, but they will be replaced by others. But we must build our policies around working people.”

Once the tax revenue starts drying up, he should have to reconsider it, but he won't. I have to conclude he's trying to destroy NYC; what else would you or I do differently than what he's doing now?

Get the rich Chinese ? Yeah they would move in but they have their own way of preventing crime against them. " Dis hatchet be for you if taxes don't come down . "

He's moving their homeless population into over 100 hotels citywide, so maybe that's what he was referring to.

The voters are getting what they voted for - good and hard. I think that old saw about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time is a good predictor of where they are going.

I'm sure the plan is to import lots of rich Chinese. Problem is, those able to be imported already figured a way to get their money out of China, they aren't going to turn around and park it here.

If you play SimCity and your sim-Citizens start moving away, it means you're losing. It kinda sorta works the same in Real Life(tm).
They'll come back if I press the disaster button one more time.
And if he, and those like him in other cities, fully succeed in Curleyization, then every major city in America can go 120% for Biden -- even red state cities.

(CNN) ‐ Paul Howard, who handled Atlanta school cheating scandal, the Ray Lewis murder case and the police killing of Rayshard Brooks during his lengthy tenure, lost the runoff election as Fulton County’s top prosecutor.
Opponent Fani Willis, who prosecuted cases for years in the county district attorney’s office, outpaced her old boss in June’s Democratic primary, but neither contestant received 50% of the vote, spurring Tuesday’s runoff.
Willis trounced the incumbent Howard on Tuesday by a 3-to-1 margin, according to county election results. With almost 91% of precincts reporting, Willis had more than 43,000 votes, about 73% of the tally, to Howard’s 15,800.
There were no Republican candidates on the ballot during the June primary.

Atlanta never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
years ago, people floated the idea of Clark Howard for mayor. Clark wisely said hell no to that idea. It would've been amusing to see the attacks on him from people who previously loved him because he didn't have the right skin color. Which people have openly admitted is a requirement during the last few elections.
