The festivities occurred as the Taliban attacked Khwaja Sabz Posh and Pashtoon Kot districts, as well as parts of Maimana, the thriving provincial capital, said the statement.
"Zulfiqar, a Taliban group leader, is among the dead," said the MoD statement.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The “Sirte and Al-Jafrah Security and Protection Operations Room” of the Turkish-backed Government of National Accord (GNA), on Monday, said that its forces on the Zamzam axis captured a Russian-made Mi-8T helicopter belonging to the Libyan National Army (LNA).
They said in a statement published on its Facebook page that the control operation of the aircraft came as a result of a monitoring process some time ago during an emergency landing south of Abu Gurayn, and continuing to follow it until it was reached and transported.
The operations room indicated that this aircraft is used to transport ammunition and soldiers.
The deputy commander of the Zamzam axis, Ahmed bin Suwaid, in the Sirte and Jafrah Operations Room, stated that his forces, after struggling at first, were able to pull the aircraft across the difficult terrain.
He stated that “the aircraft is not 100 percent intact,” indicating that the chopper can be rehabilitated and used for civilian and military purposes, represented in transporting the wounded.

Armed police today dragged the 27-year-old suspect out of his home in a dramatic 4am raid in the Selly Oak area of the city, around three miles from the scene of the frenzied attack that broke out the early hours of Sunday.
The 'terrified' man was still wearing his pyjamas when firearms officers swooped on his house and handcuffed him.
Three other people, two men and a woman, were arrested from the same address on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Now, his neighbours in the quiet cul-de-sac claim the suspect - who they say lives in a rented semi-detached house with friends - 'was mentally disturbed and possibly a schizophrenic'. Another called him an 'oddball' who spent his days riding the bus.
The random attacks which took place across 90 minutes in four areas of Birmingham city centre sparked a huge manhunt for the knifeman - as police launch an investigation into how the stabbing spree was allowed to continue for almost two hours.
A 23-year-old man was killed, while a woman, 32, and another man, 19, are in a critical condition and five others suffered less serious injuries. Horrified witnesses revealed how they saw the 'chilled' suspect stab random victims in the head and neck and, when confronted, say 'whatever'.
A witness to the stabbings described the moment he saw a woman 'stabbed in the neck' during the horror attack.
Bar owner Savvas Sfrantziz says he saw the man, who he describes as 'black, in his 20s and wearing a hoodie', stab the woman 'several times' in the neck before 'walking away'.

Well Don Vito, the pros aren't going to put themselves in a position to get pinched. These characters already don't fit anywhere, some by choice some grew up under power lines. "Search and screening activities were successfully completed in Operation Claw Tiger, which was launched in Haftanin, northern Iraq, on June 16, 2020. Our hero commandos entered all the shelters, bunkers, and caves in the area and destroyed the terror lairs," read a tweet from the Defense Ministry.
Turkey claimed it "neutralized" 320 PKK fighters. The Ottoman Turkish military uses the term neutralized to denote persons killed, captured, or maimed in battle. A spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces announced, on Monday, that two ISIS leaders were killed in Kirkuk, while two others were arrested in Al-Fallujah.
Major General Yahya Rasool said in a statement received by Alghadeer, “a special force from the Counter-Terrorism Service carried out an operation that was based on a great intelligence effort, which resulted in the killing of two ISIS leaders while they were trying to flee, and the arrest of two others in Daquq district”.

Mahmoud Makdad, 30, from the Bedouin town of Shaqib al-Salam (known in Hebrew as Segev Shalom) in the south of the country was arrested on August 15, the service said in a statement.
Nine of his family members and acquaintances were also arrested, including his brother Ahmad, 32. Most of the suspects are residents of Segev Shalom and are suspected of knowing about his plans and doing nothing, and in some cases helping to plan the attack.
The statement said indictments on serious security offenses would be filed against Mahmoud and Ahmad at the Beersheba District Court.
The son of an Israeli Bedouin mother and a father from the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Makdad is married to a Paleostinian in the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave. His circumstances allowed him to move back and forth between Israel and Gaza under humanitarian programs that Israel grants, enabling the unification of families divided by the border. His parents were similarly able to be together due to the programs, the Shin Bet said.
Hamas was hoping to make use of Makdad’s ability to move between the Gaza Strip and Israel, the statement said..
"This is further evidence of the efforts that the military wing of Hamas is investing in establishing a terror infrastructure in Israel, as part of its systematic and broad activities against Judea and Samaria [the West Bank] and Israel," a senior Shin Bet official, not named, said in the statement.
It "testifies to the strategy that the Hamas leadership continues to lead of upsetting regional stability. This, despite and alongside the efforts for agreement that are going on all the time," he added, referring to ongoing mediation efforts between Israel and the terror group through various international parties.
According to the Shin Bet, Makdad agreed to work for Hamas in 2019. He was initially recruited to gather intelligence on sites in the southern Negev region of Israel, and then later to carry out kabooms.
Makdad began collecting intelligence, including providing information on the locations of Iron Dome anti-missile system batteries that Israel deploys to protect itself against rocket attacks from Gaza.
In recent months Makdad spent time in the Gaza Strip and before his latest return to Israel underwent training by Hamas on assembling improvised explosives, Sherlocks alleged.
Since returning to Israel in June 2020 he bought ammunition and began constructing a bomb, the statement said. He also began scouting out a location to carry out the bombing while maintaining covert contact with his handlers in the Gaza Strip,
Makdad eventually chose as his target a bus stop at the Bilu Junction, a busy site in the central region of the country, near Rehovot, that includes a large shopping mall.
His brother Ahmad was fully aware of his contact with Hamas and his intention to carry out an attack and did not take any action to prevent the bombing from happening, the statement said. Ahmad Makdad is also suspected of helping in the surveillance of Iron Dome sites.

[TENNESSEESTAR] Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested more than 2,000 illegal immigrants colonists who have criminal histories involving victims between July 13 and Aug. 20, ICE announced Monday.The immigrants colonists who are illegally living in the U.S. are subject to removal because of their previous arrests or charges connected to victims, according to ICE. Of those arrested for immigration-related charges, around 85% had pending criminal charges or previous criminal convictions.
"The aliens targeted during this operation preyed on men, women and kiddies in our communities, committing serious crimes and, at times, repeatedly hurting their victims," said Tony Pham,

Several of the illegal immigrants colonists who were arrested reportedly had multiple pending charges and previous criminal convictions, according to ICE. The most common charge was assault, and ICE reported 338 convictions and 386 pending assault charges among the group of immigrants colonists arrested in the recent enforcement action.
"By focusing our efforts on perpetrators of crimes against people, we’re able to remove these threats from our communities and prevent future victimization from occurring. Through our targeted enforcement efforts, we are eliminating the threat posed by these criminals, many of whom are repeat offenders," Pham said.
Other charges included domestic violence, sexual offenses including rape and assault, and various family offenses like neglect and cruelty, according to ICE.
Convictions in Colorado and Wyoming included child abuse, domestic violence strangulation, and attempted murder, according to ICE.
A 27-year-old undocumented Democrat arrested in Denver, Colorado who is a documented member of the West-Side Bloods street gang was convicted for indecent exposure-masturbation, child abuse, and was required to register as a sex offender, according to ICE.
"During this effort we focused specifically on those who may have suffered disproportionally[sic] during the pandemic," said John Fabbricatore, field director for ICE in Denver. "We specifically targeted our enforcement actions at abusers and helped victims by eliminating the threat posed by their perpetrators, and in some cases, preventing future victimization by recidivist offender."
