Explosives found near Labor Day parade route in N.J. town. One man in custody.
[NJ] A Middlesex County man is in police custody after several pipe bomb-like devices were found near the route of a Labor Day parade that the governor was set to attend Monday.

Officials detained a man on Monday morning after they found “over half a dozen” devices on his large property near South Plainfield’s Labor Day Parade route, according to a senior law enforcement official with the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.

Gov. Phil Murphy and first lady Tammy Murphy were supposed to attend the parade, which was set to start at 10 a.m., according to spokesman Dan Bryan. The parade and other festivities were abruptly cancelled by borough officials Monday morning.

No direct threat was made to the parade or the governor. The devices were found during a separate investigation, but due to how close the property was to the parade, officials cancelled the parade “out of an abundance of caution," according to the senior official.

The official described the suspect as a “rogue individual” in his 50s who liked explosives.

A source in the governor’s office confirmed Murphy was not a target or in danger. The explosives were not powerful enough to kill anyone, he added.

Walsh focused on ‘police misconduct’ after protestor violence
[BOSTONHERALD] Mayor Martin Walsh is focusing on accusations of "police misconduct" ‐ even as nine people face charges of assault and battery on coppers at the scene of this weekend’s Straight Pride Parade, where four cops were maimed.

When asked about the prosecution of the arrestees and complaints about the police response, Walsh said in a statement, "Let me be clear that I take any accusation of police misconduct seriously. I also want to be clear that sowing division between people is exactly the goal of Straight Pride organizers, and I will not stand for it. Just as the people of Boston work to make our values of love, inclusion and acceptance known to all, our public safety officials work tirelessly to keep people safe from harm every single day of the year, and that will never change."

During and after Saturday’s controversial Straight Pride Parade, 36 people were arrested and four coppers injured. The Herald witnessed counter-protesters getting into altercations with coppers and one self-identified member of the left-wing group Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
told the paper that violence is the only option against the Straight Pride organizers. Cops said they used pepper spray after people threw so-called milkshakes at them ‐ liquid concoctions that sometimes include chemicals ‐ and that officers found handcuff keys and razor blades on some people they detained, according to published reports.

Counter-protesters and other progressives on social media criticized the cops, claiming they cracked down too hard and initiated confrontations. Ricardo Arroyo, a candidate to represent District 5 in the City Council, for example, called the police actions "acts of state violence." He couldn’t be reached for comment on Sunday.

Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone tweeted out a police complaint form and said he’s looking into allegations against his officers who helped police the event, which drew cops from all over through mutual aid.

Walsh’s police commissioner, William Gross, backed up his officers in a statement, saying, "Boston Police officers work hard every day to protect the residents throughout all of Boston’s neighborhoods. Yesterday, under difficult conditions, officers strove to ensure the safety of all at the parade."

City Councilor Timothy McCarthy called for a harder line against the arrested protestors, saying that it’s "beyond belief" that anyone would assault a Boston cop.

"To have anybody have violence against the Boston Police department, any of its officers is absolutely uncalled for and they should be prosecuted to the absolute utmost of the law," McCarthy, the council’s public safety chairman, told the Herald. Of the cops, he said, "They want peace ‐ they want to go home safely themselves. When people attack Boston coppers, it absolutely should not be stood for."

And City Councilor Ed Flynn said, "The police did a very good job under very difficult circumstances."

Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins maintains a list of crimes that includes resisting arrest and disorderly conduct ‐ two charges many of the arrested protesters face ‐ that she has said won’t prosecute as stand-alone crimes.

Asked how that list will apply to the arrested protesters, Rollins’ office responded, "We’re reviewing each arrest and will make informed decisions based on the facts of each and the policies of this office."

Several of the protesters do face higher charges, including nine of assault and battery of a police officer, that aren’t on the no-prosecute list.

Pres. Trump administration, military officials at odds over CIA's Afghanistan role: report
[The Hill] The Trump administration and military officials may be in disagreement over the choice to keep C.I.A presence in Afghanistan if troops are pulled from the nation, according to a Monday New York Times report.

The Times reports that some White House advisers have proposed secretly expanding the agency’s presence in the nation ‐ a move that some current and former officials have expressed skepticism about.

The C.I.A. and White House did not comment for the story, but the newspaper said it based the report off interviews with a half-dozen of current or former officials briefed on the discussions. The Hill reached out to the White House for comment.

Some officials told the paper they want C.I.A-backed forces in the country as part of a counterterrorism force. They claim it could quell worries that the U.S. will be left with little ability to prevent terrorist groups from using Afghanistan as a base of operations in the U.S. pulls troops, as President Trump suggested will happen last week.

But others, such as Seth G. Jones, a scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a former adviser to the commanding general of American Special Operations forces in Afghanistan, tell the Times they are skeptical of the plan which they said could be impractical and ineffective.

Current and former officials told the Times that for C.I.A militias to be an effective, some American military teams would need to remain in the country.

Trump said last week he will reduce the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan to 8,600 but will maintain a presence after a deal with the Taliban is reached. A U.S. envoy on Monday said a deal was presented to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday.

Algeria army chief calls for elections this year
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Algeria’s army chief on Monday called for elections later this year to choose a new president after mass protests forced the resignation in April of veteran leader Abdelaziz Bouteflika
...10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and served on his third or four terms. When he announced for the fifth, or maybe it was the sixth, visibly doddering, a grateful nation rose up in its wrath and threw him out...
, state media reported.

State television cited Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaed Saleh as saying the electoral commission "should issue a call on September 15," a move that under Algerian law would come 90 days before the presidential election.

An election had been scheduled for July, but the authorities cancelled it, citing a lack of candidates without naming a new election date.

Protesters had also demanded the elections be postponed until the old ruling elite, including the interim president Abdelkader Bensalah and Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui, was forced from power.

The army, now the main player in Algerian politics, has repeatedly urged the opposition to cooperate in holding an election as soon as possible.

Algeria’s judiciary has meanwhile opened corruption investigations into numerous former bigwigs and allies of Bouteflika.

Tripoli-based HoR denounces Haftar's forces attack on Mitiga Airport
[Libya Observer] Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
-based House of Representatives condemned what it called the "immoral and inhuman action" committed by the forces of Haftar, by bombing Mitiga International Airport.

The HoR added in a statement Sunday, that Haftar's forces did not take into account the rules and norms of war, calling upon the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards protecting civilians.

"The UN Mission in Libya is called upon to convey the full and correct picture and unambiguously to the UN Security Council," the MPs stated.

They also emphasized the need for the Security Council to take the necessary measures in order to stop the barbaric attacks committed by Haftar and his allies against the Libyan people.

#1  The number of causalities is well within certain "expectations" regarding this type of Muslim warfare, and the civilian numbers are low.

The humanitarian assistance rate (9% of those displaced) needs some work but overall a welcome story.

A couple of Russian client states that sponsored terror attacks against the West for decades are now in the midst of low-level civil wars? I can't say I'm particularly saddened. At the languid pace these wars are playing out, they could do this for another 50 years. At least they'll be occupied doing something other than sponsoring terror attacks against the West.

Turkish court orders conditional release of ex-HDP leader Selahattin Demirtas
[Rudaw] A court in the Ottoman Turkish capital city of Ankara has ordered the release of former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) leader Selahattin Demirtas, detained since November 2016 on terror-related charges. His release is conditional upon whether he will be granted parole for a near five-year sentence he is currently serving, as well as the verdict of other terror-related charges posed against him.

According to a document shared by HDP officials ‐ purportedly the court verdict - the release of the Kurdish leader has been ordered "if the defendant is not convicted for other crimes."

"Today, a court has ruled that our former co-chair Selahattin Demirtas should be freed. Demirtas has been in prison for nearly three years on purely political charges. He must be released as soon as possible," read a statement from the HDP.

Ex-imam barred from Canadian elections over alleged anti-Semitic comments
[IsraelTimes] Liberal Party of Canada nixes Hassan Guillet after B’nai Brith unearths past statements suggesting Zionists control US politics.

The Liberal Party of Canada ousted a candidate for upcoming national election after B’nai Brith Canada revealed past allegedly anti-Semitic comments.

Hassan Guillet, a former imam running for election in a Montreal district, was removed on Friday from contention for the Oct. 21 election. Gulliet gained international attention when he spoke out following a 2017 mosque attack in Quebec City.

But according to B’nai Brith, Guillet’s past has included celebrating the release of a pro-Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, activist Raed Salah, who said Jews were behind the 9/11 attacks; accusing "Zionists" of controlling US politics; and describing Israel as an "apartheid" state.

B’nai Brith CEO Michael Mostyn welcomed Guillet’s turfing and said, "the anti-Semitic tropes of ’Zionists controlling governments’ and of ’dual loyalty’ are two of the more abhorrent expressions of paranoid anti- Jewish conspiracy theories."

The Liberal Party of Canada said in a statement that Guillet’s past comments "do not correspond to the party’s values."

ICC prosecutor ordered to reexamine deadly Gaza flotilla incident
[IsraelTimes] Appellate judges in the Hague reject Fatou Bensouda’s decision to close case into IDF’s 2010 takeover of Mavi Marmara, in which 10 violent pro-Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", activists were killed.

Appeals judges on Monday ordered the International Criminal Court’s prosecutor to reconsider again her refusal to open a formal investigation into the 2010 storming by Israeli forces of a blockade-busting flotilla heading to the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
strip.

Presiding Judge Solomy Bossa ordered prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to decide by December 2 whether or not to open a formal probe. The 3-2 majority ruling by the court’s appeals chamber is the latest step in a long legal battle to bring the case before the court.

Bensouda earlier declined a request by the Indian Ocean island nation of Comoros to investigate the May 31, 2010, takeover of a vessel in the flotilla, which was sailing under a Comoros flag.

Israel is not a member state of the court but its nationals could face charges if Bensouda opens an investigation.

In her initial refusal to open a full-scale investigation, Bensouda acknowledged that war crimes may have been committed on the Mavi Marmara ship, where Israeli commandos boarded the ship and were met with violence, and in the ensuing melee 10 Ottoman Turkish activists belonging to the pro-Hamas IHH group were killed and several other pro-Paleostinian activists were maimed. Several of the Israeli soldiers were also maimed. But she decided that the case wasn’t serious enough to merit an ICC probe.

Comoros appealed that decision and sought a judicial review when Bensouda once again refused to investigate the case.

The ICC was set up as a court of last resort intended to prosecute big shots allegedly responsible for grave crimes including genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity when national courts prove unable or unwilling to take on such cases.

The appeals panel on Monday criticized Bensouda for her rejection of calls by a lower panel of judges to reconsider the case.

"The appeals chamber also finds that the unfortunate language used by the prosecutor to express her disagreement demonstrates that she was entirely misinformed as to what was required of her in conducting the requested reconsideration," Bossa said.

Iraq
UN criticizes transfer of 1,600 displaced Iraqis
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
on Monday criticized Iraqi authorities for transferring around 1,600 people from camps to their areas of origin, saying the returns could put them in danger.

The returnees, who fled violence during and after ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
group’s 2014 seizure of swathes of Iraq, had sought refuge at displacement camps in the northern province of Nineweh.

Since August 23, Iraqi authorities have bussed about 300 families, an estimated 1,600 people, from the three camps to their provinces of origin.

The transfers took place despite humanitarian groups’ concerns that the families had no homes or access to services and may be targeted by their home communities for perceived links to ISIS, a terrorist group.

The UN said Monday returnees had "expressed fears that they would be threatened upon their return, and had reportedly received threatening phone calls from community members in their areas of origin warning against return."

"Despite such concerns, security actors confiscated the (displaced people’s) civil identification, informing the families that their documents would only be returned once they boarded the convoy," it said in a statement.

More than 1.6 million people remain displaced in camps, unfinished structures or rented apartments across Iraq, nearly two years after the country declared victory over ISIS.

The government has stressed its policy is for all those displaced to return home and for camps to be shut.

Last week, AFP journalists witnessed transfers from the Hammam al-Alil camp in Nineweh province of hundreds of Iraqis originally from Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
further south.

Women and children, some of them crying, were loaded onto buses by security forces. Some said they did not know where they were being taken.

The transfers often happened "with little notice or apparent planning," the UN’s Iraq humanitarian coordinator, Marta Ruedas, said on Monday.

IDF chief to UNIFIL: Stop Hezbollah’s missile program, or we will
[IsraelTimes] Meeting head of UN peacekeeping force, Kohavi says Israel will not tolerate terror group’s attacks on its soldiers and civilians, nor let it build precision missiles.

IDF chief Aviv Kohavi on Sunday called on United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
peacekeepers and the Lebanese government to take action against the Hezbollah terror group’s precision missile project, indicating that Israel would be forced to act if they didn’t.

Kohavi conveyed this position in a meeting with Maj.-Gen. Stefano Del Col, the head of the UN’s Interim Force in Leb (UNIFIL), following a clash along the border with Hezbollah on Sunday in which the terror group fired anti-tank guided missiles at Israeli positions near the security fence. No soldiers were maimed, and the Israel Defense Forces retaliated by firing approximately 100 artillery shells and bombs at Hezbollah positions in southern Leb.

"We will not accept harm to our citizens or our soldiers, and we will not accept Hezbollah’s precision missile project on Lebanese soil," Kohavi told Del Col.

This was their first meeting since the IDF chief of staff took up his position in January.

"The state of Leb and UNIFIL must bring an end to Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Hezbollah’s precision missile project in Leb and fully implement [UN] Security Council Resolution 1701," Kohavi said, referring to the resolution that ended the 2006 Second Leb War.

"The current state of affairs is not one we can come to terms with," he said.

UN Resolution 1701 calls for all gangs, besides the Lebanese military, to be removed from southern Leb, in the area south of the country’s Litani River.

Israel has repeatedly claimed that the Hezbollah terror group, occasionally aided by the Lebanese Armed Forces, maintains an active presence in southern Leb of both fighters and weaponry despite this prohibition. UNIFIL, which is tasked with ensuring Resolution 1701’s implementation, has indicated that the constraints of its mandate prevent it from being able to fully investigate Israel’s claims, namely because of the peacekeepers’ inability to enter private property.

Hezbollah, in an issued statement on Sunday, said that “at 4:15 P.M. on Sunday, September 1, 2019, supporters of Martyrs Hassan Zbib and Yasser Daher destroyed an Israeli enemy military vehicle at the road of the Avivim barracks (occupied northern Palestine), which resulted in the killing and injuring of those in it.”

Sri Lanka
Lankan court bans protests against Muslim sect
[DAWN] A Sri Lankan court on Sunday banned two ultra-nationalist Buddhist organizations from demonstrating against a Moslem holy day, the first on the island since the deadly Easter Sunday suicide kabooms.

Police front man Ruwan Gunasekera said Colombo Magistrate’s court issued restraining orders against the two groups led by Buddhist monks who planned to disrupt a gathering in Colombo of Dawoodi Bohra.

An estimated 25,000 adherents from around the world have been meeting in Colombo since Saturday for a 10-day religious event culminating with Ashura.

Gunasekera said police had information that two nationalist groups were planning to disrupt the event in the capital, where police and troops have stepped up security.

It was not immediately clear what the groups were planning, but nationalist groups have usually taken a hardline stand against religious minorities in the Buddhist majority nation of 21 million people.

Sections of a key road near the main Shia Huseini mosque have been shut to accommodate the large number of pilgrims.

The spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, arrived in Colombo on Wednesday to lead sermons and also meet Sri Lankan leaders. The gathering takes place just over four months after coordinated kabooms against three Christian churches and three hotels left at least 258 people dead and nearly 500 maimed.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Senior official: Nasrallah sought ceasefire as IDF responded to Hezbollah strike
[IsraelTimes] Israel says Lebanese PM Hariri reached out to 3 countries on behalf of Iran-backed group with message that it was not interested in further escalation.

The Lebanese government reached out to three countries on Sunday on behalf of Hezbollah in an effort to convey to Israel that it was not interested in any further escalation, as the IDF hurled some 100 shells at targets across the border in response to the terror group’s firing of anti-tank missiles at Israel, a senior defense official said Monday.

The message from Hezbollah leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

Hezbollah chief says ‘no more red lines’ against Israel
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Leb’s Hezbollah leader said on Monday that while a flare-up with Israel at the border had ended, the episode had launched a "new phase" in which the Iran-backed movement no longer has red lines.

In a televised speech, Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
said the new focus, now in the hands of fighters in the field, would be on targeting Israeli drones entering Leb’s skies.

"Yesterday, the resistance broke Israel’s biggest red line in decades," he said.

"In the past, when we were attacked, we responded in the Shebaa Farms," a disputed area along the Leb-Israel ceasefire line, he said.

"But yesterday, the response was across the frontier," within Israel’s internationally recognised borders, crossing what he said Israel considers a red line.

Today, Nasrallah said, "there are no more red lines."

The threat came after Hezbollah said Sunday its fighters had "destroyed" a military vehicle on the road to the Avivim barracks in northern Israel, killing or wounding those inside.

Israel’s army said it had responded with around 100 artillery shells after Hezbollah fired two or three anti-tank missiles at a battalion headquarters and military ambulance, hitting both.

Israeli officials refuted claims of casualties.

Sunday’s exchange of fire over the Lebanese-Israeli border came a week after Hezbollah accused Israel of carrying out a drone attack on its southern Beirut stronghold.

On August 24, Israel also said it had carried out strikes in Syria to avert an Iranian drone attack.

Hezbollah said those strikes killed two of its members.

On Monday, Nasrallah vowed to hit "deep inside Israel," and not just along the border, in case of a new Israeli attack.

"If you attack us, your borders, soldiers and settlments -- including those on the border and those deep inside (Israel) -- will be threatened and targeted," he said.

"If there is any aggression against Leb, there will be no such thing as international borders."

The Hezbollah leader said the "first phase" of the response to last week’s Israeli attacks on Syria and Leb had ended.

But he said his group would target Israeli drones over Lebanese air space.

Lebanon to announce state of economic emergency, plan to accelerate reforms
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Leb will declare an economic emergency and the government has begun work on a plan to accelerate public finance reforms, its prime minister said on Monday.

Saad Hariri
...Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too....
also said the policy of keeping stable the Lebanese pound, which is pegged to the dollar, would continue.

Cabinet ministers, politicians and politicians who met on Monday reached consensus on an outline for a plan that would put public finances and the economy on a more sustainable path, Hariri said.

"There is agreement to announce a state of economic emergency," Hariri said.

"This difficult economic situation requires us taking speedy measures such as finishing the budget on time and reducing the deficit" Hariri told news hounds after the meeting that President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
also attended to address a worsening economic situation.

The government would hold more meetings to speed up the work, he said.

Leb is grappling with one of the world’s heaviest public debt burdens at 150% of GDP and years of low economic growth.

Government finances, plagued by corruption and waste, are strained by a bloated public sector, debt-servicing costs and subsidizing the state power producer.

Hariri said accelerating reforms would avoid a crisis similar to Greece, which fell into a debt crisis nine years ago and had to adopt tough austerity measures under tight supervision by foreign creditors.

"We don’t want this to happen to us. So we are taking measures to save the country," the prime minister said.

Iran acknowledges explosion of space-bound rocket for first time
[NYPOST] Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
admitted for the first time Monday that a rocket went kaboom! at the nation’s Imam Khomeini Space Center ‐ a mishap that President Trump insisted last week was not caused by US involvement.

Iranian government front man Ali Rabiei confirmed that finding Monday, attributing the costly explosion to a technical mishap.

"This has been a technical matter and a technical error," he said. "Our experts unanimously say so."

The explosion, which came ahead of a planned satellite launch by Iran, was the third recent failure of a rocket at the space center, a streak of bad luck that had raised fears of sabotage in the nation’s space program.

To the consternation of Iranian officials, Trump last week tweeted an apparent spy-satellite photo of the aftermath in denying American involvement.

"The United States of America was not involved in the catastrophic accident during the final launch preparations for the Safir SLV Launch at Semnan Launch Site One in Iran," wrote Trump. "I wish Iran best wishes and good luck in determining what happened at Site One."

While the rocket was lost, Iran’s information and communications technology minister chided Trump with a tweet of his own, posting a selfie with the Nahid I satellite to show that it survived the blast unscathed.

"The explosion happened at the launchpad and no satellite had yet been transferred to the launchpad," Rabiei confirmed Monday, adding his own dig at Trump.

"We don’t understand why the US president tweets and posts satellite pictures with excitement," he said. "This is not understandable."

Loud explosions other than the expulsions from Oprah Winfrey's asshole are usually technical error. It's the very meaning of FAIL !
