Afghanistan
Former SEAL, SOCOM boss McRaven says we're going to be in Afghanistan ‘for a very long time'
[Military Times] A draft agreement for peace between the U.S. and the Taliban in Afghanistan got a lot of hopes up late this summer, but the former head of U.S. special operations ― most well known for overseeing the mission that ultimately took out Osama Bin Laden ― said that making concessions to the extremist group is the wrong move.

Retired Adm. Bill McRaven, now a national security professor at the University of Texas in Austin, likened negotiating with the warlords who control much of Afghanistan’s square mileage to sitting down with ISIS, in a discussion Wednesday at the New America Special Operations Forces Policy Forum in Washington.

"And maybe that’s not a good comparison," he said. "But I do believe that if we negotiate some sort of settlement with the Taliban, and that settlement involves the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan, that, you know, it won’t be six months or a year before all of the blood and treasure we have put into Afghanistan will have been reversed because the Taliban will come back in and do what the Taliban do."

Multiple international news outlets reported in late August and early September that the Taliban and U.S. diplomats had reached an interim peace agreement after nine rounds of peace talks in Qatar.

The deal fell apart just before the 18th anniversary of 9/11, when President Donald Trump canceled a secret meeting with Taliban officials at Camp David, a direct response to the Taliban’s car-bombing of an 82nd Airborne Division soldier ― which killed him and 11 others ― days before.

McRaven never agreed with the peace talks to begin with, he said.

#2  NO. This is NOT in the interest of the American people.

McRaven just loves playing the game of thrones, and just assumes it's always worth the price. This is pretty typical of many globalist leaders. Not a thought as to what our interests are, or how they might serve us.

#6  How about we withdraw all our troops and just bomb Afghanistan with pallets of $100 bills from C-17s. Why not? It would be cheaper (VASTLY cheaper), work better, and bring the death rate down to zero.

#8  May be on to something. If we can hyper-inflate the food prices then after 60 days only those with power connections will not be malnourished, therefore easily identified as friend or foe. With starvation affecting the sick, elderly, and young not only will the culture take a hit, but so will the next generation.

It could be right up there with the slaughter of the bison vs. Plains Indians.

With fewer workers the price of opium would dramatically increase or migratory workers imported to fill the harvest gap - and when that doesn't work perhaps a Pakistain north border crossing crises?

Trick would be keeping the UN from trading food for opium so its all over in less than 3 months instead of a slow Somalia style wither.

The C-17 is a nice touch, as I think India operates those as well, assisting in a faster delivery time. If C-5s can land in Kandahar, smaller delivery craft can be loaded for better distribution and/or localized targeting.

I believe speed and saturation are key; like that Chapelle skit where reparations get paid, and in ten minutes a bucket of chicken is running $500. Perhaps deteriorating money so if some squirters do make it to Greece - poof! no scrilla.

#11  In fairness to Herb, what to do about Afghanistan and similar 'regions' is a real problem. Used to be, we could ignore such places and their inhabitants, but globalization is all about flow - goods, money, and people. Along with disease, drugs, crime, and jihad. Leave them alone and the rottenness just festers and you end up with 9/11.

Endless low-level conflict is more a coping mechanism than a solution. Even if we can afford the financial cost, the political cost is too great once American bodies start coming home. Ramp up the violence and you the usual suspects whinging about civilian casualties.

What to do? Given the Af-Pak terrain, I like the idea of turning it into a proving range for autonomous killbots. Also wouldn't hurt to leave people with the message that you don't want us to come back again. But that involves actually doing something.

Security Council Renews UN Afghan Mission
[ToloNews] New mandate for UNAMA adds provision for peace talks, drops Belt and Road.

The Security Council on Tuesday decided unanimously to extend, until September 17, 2020, the mandate of the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

Support for the Afghan government in pursuing peace talks, as requested by the Afghan delegation, was included as a last-minute provision.

Christoph Heusgen (Germany), introduced the amendment, explaining that the delegation of Afghanistan requested that the text be amended to read: "Provide outreach as well as good offices to support the Afghan-led and Afghan‑owned grinding of the peace processor, if requested by and in close consultation with the Government of Afghanistan". Heusgen stated that this addition is "extremely important" for Afghanistan.

China’s Belt and Road Project, to increase trade and transportation infrastructure for Afghanistan and regional neighbors, was not mentioned in the new resolution, as it has been in the past.

"To our regret a few countries refused to keep the text of consensus previously agreed," said China’s UN Ambassador Zhang Jun.

US Ambassador to the U.N. Kelly Craft said that the new resolution reflects changes on the ground, but added: "The reason we cannot empower the mission with a stronger, substantive mandate today is a member’s insistence on language that highlights national political priorities rather than ways in which we can most effectively assist the people and the government of Afghanistan."

The mission is tasked to support the Afghan electoral process, and more broadly to strengthen the capacity of the government and Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission, as well as civil society. It will also support education, human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
and women’s full participation in decision-making, including in the peace talks.

Taliban Must Demonstrate Commitment To Peace: Pompeo
Now this is a very different kind of negotiation.
[ToloNews] The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has condemned the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s Tuesday suicide kabooms in Parwan province and Kabul, saying: "Taliban must begin to demonstrate a genuine commitment to peace rather than continue the violence and destruction."

"Just today, the Taliban has grabbed credit for a terrorist attack carried out by a jacket wallah in Kabul that killed more than 20 Afghans," Pompeo said in the statement, adding that they also grabbed credit for the blast at President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money...
’s campaign rally. This explosion in Charikar killed more than two dozen people waiting to hear President Ghani speak.

Pompeo said that Afghanistan has endured blackouts and other challenges as a result of Taliban attacks, referring to the downed power lines that carry electricity from Uzbekistan to hospitals, schools, and homes in many areas of the country.

"Through these attacks, the Taliban demonstrate blatant disregard for the people and institutions of Afghanistan," Pompeo said, insisting that for "Afghans to truly reconcile" they must not "continue the violence and destruction that causes such inordinate harm to the Afghan people and the future of their country."

On Tuesday morning, 26 people were killed and 42 maimed by a suicide bomber at President Ghani’s campaign rally in the central province of Parwan. The attack took place at 11:40 a.m. in the city of Charikar after a suicide bomber on a cycle of violence detonated his explosives where dozens of people were entering the meeting place, local officials said.

The second attack of the day was in the city of Kabul, and at least 22 non-combatants were killed and 38 others were maimed after a suicide bomber detonated his explosive close a Ministry of Defense building in PD9.

The Taliban have grabbed credit for both attacks.

These attacks follow the recent shutdown of peace talks by US President Donald after the Taliban grabbed credit for a suicide attack in Kabul that killed 12, including an American soldier, on September 2.

Tripoli Protection Force rejects dialogue with "killers of Libyans"
[Libya Observer] Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Protection Force (TPF) called on the Presidential Council to look for the greater good of the country and people and do away with the narrow interests of certain parties and factions who wish to repeat the past by focusing on seizing power only.

TPF said in a statement on Tuesday that it is following the latest developments and calls for a political solution in Libya along with the meetings of Presidential Council's Head Fayez al-Sarraj to find a national project to end the conflict.

TPF reiterated rejection to military rule and its firm resistance and fighting against the remaining forces of Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
on the outskirts of Tripoli.

"We are against terrorism and extremism and against using them by Haftar's forces as a pretext to undermine their opponents to please their supporters." It said, adding that the state authorities must start looking into corruption and avoid being selective in exacting laws.

"The Presidential Council should take measures against the counties that backed up war on Tripoli in order to hold them accountable for targeting airports and vital institutions in the country." It added.

TPF indicated that it had joined the forces under the command of Central and Western Military Zones to end the conflict and reach a comprehensive settlement in Libya.

Egypt's offshore Baltim South West field starts production
[AlAhram] Egypt’s Baltim South West offshore gas field, discovered by Italian oil giant Eni in 2016, started production, with an estimated initial output of 100 million cubic feet of gas a day, the oil ministry said on Tuesday

Production is expected to rise to 500 million cubic feet of gas by the second quarter of 2020 when an additional five wells go on stream, the ministry said.

The field, located 12 kilometers off Egypt's Mediterranean coast, has a potential capacity of 1 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas, while the potential of the area where it is located, the Great Nooros area, is nearly 3 tcf, Eni said in a statement.

Eni, through its subsidiary IEOC, holds a 50 percent stake in the Baltim South lease and BP holds the remaining 50 percent.

The project is operated by Petrobel, a joint venture between Eni and the state-owned Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.

In 2015, Eni discovered Egypt’s giant offshore Zohr gas field, the largest in the Mediterranean, whose output now stands at 2.7 billion cubic feet of gas daily.

Bigger output helped Egypt become self sufficient in natural gas in late 2018.

Saudi Arabia shares evidence linking Iran to Aramco oil facility attack
[Rudaw] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. ’s defense ministry has unveiled evidence linking its archrival Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
to last weekend’s attacks on its state-owned oil installations. The revelations come as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrives in Riyadh to discuss potential retaliation.

Saudi Arabia’s defense ministry front man Col. Turki al-Maliki cast doubt on the claim that drones or cruise missiles thought to have been used in the attack could have reached the facility from Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, calling this a "false narrative".

Speaking at a presser in the Saudi capital on Wednesday evening, the defense ministry front man said the evidence and calculations based on the range of such weapons suggests the attack came from the north.

"The attack was launched from the north and unquestionably sponsored by Iran," Maliki said. "We are working to know the exact launch point."

This raises questions as to whether the attack originated from Iran or even from Iraqi territory, where Iran-backed militias have a significant presence.

That the attack was sponsored by Iran is "undeniable", he added.

Debris from the attack was presented at the press briefing including parts of an Iranian-made delta-wing UAV drone and a "Ya Ali" cruise missile.

Three cruise missiles hit the facility before Saudi air defense batteries blocked further impacts, the front man said.

Eighteen UAVs and seven cruise missiles were fired in total, he added.

The front man called the attack an "affront to international law" and "an assault on the international community".

"We call the international community to condemn this Iranian brutal attack," he said.

Europe
German commissioner says local BDS chapter incited against U.S. synagogue
[Jerusalem Post] The commissioner of the Hessian Federal State Government for Jewish Life and the Fight Against Antisemitism has filed a criminal complaint against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement’s chapter in the German city of Wiesbaden.

Uwe Becker said that he filed the complaint after the chapter posted several tweets that targeted Israel and also led to anti-Jewish incitement.

The "Wiesbaden branch of the antisemitic BDS movement stoked incitement on social media that targeted an American synagogue with antisemitic insults" last Thursday, Becker told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday. "Wiesbaden termed the State of Israel, in its statements on social media, as a ’Zionist colony,’ and the flag of the Jewish state as a symbol of a genocidal, colonialist ideology."

The BDS group’s tweets were replies to a post by American philanthropist Adam Milstein, who tweeted a video showing the Baba Sale Synagogue in Los Angeles vandalized with "Free Paleostine" graffiti.

Milstein condemned the graffiti, tweeting that "BDS is the 21st Century #Antisemitism, it radicalized all other turban movements, promotes violence against Jews and resembles the Nazi methods to boycott The Jewish people." Wiesbaden’s BDS chapter replied with several tweets.

The commissioner said he considers the group’s statements on social media "deeply antisemitic," and that the tweets exceed the threshold of incitement.

Specifically, Becker cited statements made by the group about the American synagogue, which it called a "Zionist organization," and said that anyone who "shows the Zionist flag must be confronted with the crimes of the Zionist colony."

"With this statement, BDS Wiesbaden refers to a photograph of the interior of the synagogue, in which, among others, the Israeli flag can be seen," said Becker, adding that "the Wiesbaden chapter emphasizes that graffiti on synagogues ’would not occur if they did not act as messages of the Zionist colony,’ and ’that a house of prayer should not be decorated with the symbol of a genocidal, colonialist ideology."

He said that their statements demonstrate that "the BDS movement is not only about criticism of Israeli government action, but with the name of ’Zionist colony’ denies the existence of the entire State of Israel.

The Wiesbaden BDS chapter’s Twitter account has only around 150 followers, though it is linked to the main website of the BDS umbrella organization, which has many more. Becker furnished the Post with screenshots of the alleged anti-Jewish incitement.

"This is pure hatred of Israel, and the Wiesbaden BDS chapter has very clearly dropped its antisemitic mask," said Becker, who is known to have gone to great lengths to combat rising Jew-hatred in Germany.

German authorities and judges tend to favor the rights of contemporary antisemites in their rulings. A key exception was in 2015, when a judge in the west German city of Essen, Gauri Sastry, convicted 24-year-old Taylan Can for incitement after he yelled "Death and hate to Zionists" at an anti-Israel rally in 2014.

"’Zionist’ in the language of antisemites is a code for ’Jew,’" Sastry ruled in her groundbreaking legal decision.

Police eject 800 migrants from camp in France
More about this story from yesterday.
[DAWN] French police cleared more than 800 migrants on Tuesday from a makeshift camp that sprung up outside a gymnasium near the northern port of Dunkirk last spring, after a court ruled it had become a health and security hazard.

The mayor of Grande-Synthe opened the gym to migrants last December to keep families out of the cold, and had planned to close it with the return of warmer weather.

But hundreds of others, mainly young Iraqi Kurd men, soon began pitching tents around the site while they waited for a chance to try to reach Britain.

The government later installed water faucets, bathrooms and showers after aid groups filed a complaint on humanitarian grounds with France’s State Council, which hears claims against administrative authorities.

But this month the city’s mayor sought and obtained a court order to shut down the camp, citing complaints from local authorities and residents about violence, garbage and the presence of people-smugglers among the migrants.

Police moved in shortly after 8am, putting the migrants on buses to bring them to shelters elsewhere where they can apply for asylum, before workers began dismantling the tents.

A total of 811 people, including 506 young men and 58 unaccompanied minors, were cleared from the gym and makeshift camp, the government’s top regional official said.

“I think everyone here was glad to get out of this shantytown,” the official, Michel Lalande, told journalists.

Turkish court rules to keep U.S. consulate worker in jail lawyer
[AlAhram] A Ottoman Turkish court ruled on Wednesday to keep a U.S. consulate employee in jail as his trial on espionage charges continues, a lawyer said, meaning he will remain in detention until the next hearing in December.

Metin Topuz, a Ottoman Turkish translator and fixer for the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) at the U.S. consulate in Istanbul, has been in jug for 23 months. The next hearing in the case was set for Dec. 11, said his lawyer, Halit Akalp.

Topuz is charged with espionage and links to the network of holy man Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world. Gülen and Erdogan used to be really good friends, but only one of them could be sultan, and Gülen lost...

...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
for plotting the failed 2016 coup. Washington says Topuz is innocent.

The court has repeatedly said it wants to hear another witness in the case file. But lawyers on Wednesday told the court that the address on record for that witness did not exist.

In his final defence ahead of the ruling, Topuz said he did not accept the accusations and demanded his acquittal.

Lawyers for Topuz applied in January to the Europe

Go Figure - Mechanic who tampered with jetliner has ties to ISIS: feds
[NY Post] The American Airlines mechanic who disabled a key navigation system on a jetliner leaving Miami ‐ saying he did it over a labor dispute ‐ had grisly ISIS propaganda videos on his cellphone, federal prosecutors said in court on Wednesday.
Just culturally appropriate Pron
Prosecutor Maria Medetis said that when investigators grilled the mechanic, Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, after his arrest on Sept. 5, he told them he had an "evil side" and that he "wanted to do something to delay" the plane, which had 150 people onboard, the Miami Herald reported.

But a co-worker told investigators that Alani had once said his brother was a member of ISIS, and that he traveled to Iraq in March to visit him.
uh huh, and you kept that to yourself?
Prosecutors said authorities also discovered a November 2018 article that had been sent to him about one of the Boeing 737 Max 8 crashes, and that the article described issues with the plane's navigation system.

"What you did was at minimum highly reckless. It was unconscionable," federal Magistrate Judge Chris McAliley told Alani in court Wednesday.

Authorities also said at least one of the ISIS videos was downloaded on Alani's phone and sent to another person with a message that called for Allah to "use all your might and power against the Kafir," or non-believers of Islam.

A native Iraqi who is now a US citizen, Alani, 60 was not charged with a terror-related crime. He was denied bond during the proceeding, where the feds said photos on his phone from a trip to Baghdad and Mosul showed him smiling and posing with relatives.

He was charged with "willfully damaging, destroying or disabling an aircraft." His arraignment is Friday, and he faces up to 20 years in prison on the sabotage charge.

Alani initially said that he sabotaged the Boeing 737 at Miami International Airport because labor negotiations were hurting his chances to snare overtime.
"As a terrorist, I am entitled to time and a half! Infidels!"
A criminal complaint said Alani admitted to sabotaging the airplane July 17 as it was scheduled to fly from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas.
ABC Local 10 adds:
Prosecutors said he worked four hours of overtime that day.

A co-worker also told government officials that Alani had once said his brother was a member of ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
and that he traveled to Iraq in March to visit him. Alani's roommate, however, told authorities the trip was not to visit his brother, but had been because his brother had been kidnapped, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said photos on his phone from his trip to Baghdad and djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
show him smiling and posing with relatives and said he did not appear to be in distress in any of the images.

#7  Alani is like a lot of Muslims, both in the US and elsewhere.

He has an attraction to stage 5 Islam (whether is is ISIS or AlQ or others) but has constant problems reconciling this attraction with the world he lives in, his friends, his co-workers, etc.

It would be a good subject for academic research but for the fact that it is not PC.

Two more polio cases reported
[DAWN] The number of polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain...
cases has reached 64 in the country this year, as another two cases were reported from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.

A 30-month-old girl and a 23-month-old boy have become new victims of the poliovirus. It was revealed that their parents were against the vaccination and dodged polio teams.

With these two additions the total number of polio cases in KP has reached 48 this year.

An official of Polio Virology Laboratory at the National Institute of Health (NIH), requesting anonymity, said that the latest cases were reported from districts Lakki Marwat and Torghar.

"The girl, who is paralysed, hails from Nali Chak, UC Mamakhel, tehsil Serai Naurang, district Lakki Marwat. Date of the onset was Aug 24; however, as incubation time of the virus is around three weeks so finally it is confirmed that the child was paralysed due to poliovirus," he said.

MNAs Ali Wazir, Mohsin Dawar make bail in Kharqamar attack case
[DAWN] Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
High Court's Bannu bench on Wednesday accepted the bail pleas of politicians Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar in the Kharqamar attack case.

Justice Nasir Mehmood, who heard the bail applications of Dawar and Wazir in Bannu, asked the MNAs to report to police once a month.

They will be released after legal formalities are completed. The MNAs have been asked to provide surety bonds worth Rs1 million each.

"The bench has given us conditional bail," said Abdul Latif Afridi, the lawyer representing the MNAs, adding that the Anti-Terrorism Law 21-D allows a judge to impose certain conditions on admission to bail.

"The judge gave a verbal order; we are waiting for the written one," Afridi told Dawn.

The two MNAs, who are leaders of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), were initially charged in an FIR registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) cop shoppe, Bannu, on May 26 after a clash between PTM members and Army personnel near the Kharqamar check post in North Wazoo, which had resulted in the deaths of 13 persons and injuries to several others.

'Historic day': PM Imran inaugurates 24/7 border crossing at Torkham
[DAWN] Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
on Wednesday formally inaugurated the opening of the Torkham border crossing for 24 hours.
That’s an entrance to Afghanistan for those, like me, who are not geography mavens. It connects Afghanistan's Nangarhar province with Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is the busiest crossing along the border, serving as a major transporting, shipping, and receiving site. On the Afghan side the highway goes to Kabul via Jalalabad; on the Pakistani side the highway goes to Peshawar, then connects to Islamabad. Forward Operating Base Torkham (FOB Torkham) hosts an American contingent.
The premier was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan as he inaugurated the Integrated Transit Trade Management System. He was also given a briefing on the border terminal.

Addressing a presser on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran said the round-the-clock opening of the border crossing will facilitate trade in the region.

"I consider this to be a very historic day," he said, noting that trade with Afghanistan had jumped by 50 per cent during the trial of the 24/7 border opening alone.

He said the region will be transformed as soon as peace is established in Afghanistan and the trade activities will reach as far as Central Asia.

"The lives of people in this region will be changed," he said, adding that Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

PM Imran vows 'accountability for all' over Kasur deaths
[DAWN] Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer...
on Wednesday, while speaking on the death and suspected sexual assault of three minors in Kasur, made it clear that there would be accountability for all.

"Those who do not perform in the interest of the common man will be taken to task, " he said, going on to list the steps taken by the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government and police following the incident.

"Kasur district police officer (DPO) being removed; SP investigation Kasur surrendered, charge sheeted and being proceeded against."

"DSP and SHO suspended. Major overhaul in Kasur local police on the cards," he continued, adding that a formal probe has been ordered under an additional inspector general.

Chunian police on Tuesday recovered the bodies of three minors, who appeared to have been killed after rape, from sand dunes near Chunian bypass.

A wave of shock and terror gripped Chunian when the police recovered the bodies. Locals suspected a racket was behind the killing of minor boys after rape.

Earlier on Wednesday, protests erupted in Kasur with residents protesting against child abductions and lack of action by police. Protesters blocked roads in Chunian and burned tires while chanting slogans against the police. The demonstrators also surrounded the Chunian cop shoppe as they protested against lack of arrests and incidents of child abduction.

In the last few years, Kasur has been rocked by multiple incidents of abuse, rape and killing of children. In January 2018, six-year-old Zainab Ansari was found dead in a trash heap near Shahbaz Khan Road, five days after she went missing. Hers was the 12th such incident to have occurred within a 10-kilometre radius in Kasur over a 12-month period. Her death had sparked nationwide protests and outrage.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia allegedly gives Syria green light to use S-300 system against Israeli warplanes
Good luck with that, guys.
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian Armed Forces have allegedly given the Syrian military the green light to use their S-300 system against Israeli warplanes that enter their airspace, the Russian aviation publication Avia.Pro reported.
"I'd shoot and scoot if I were you, though"
"Against the background of how Israel was repeatedly seen striking at Syria despite the previously reached agreements between Russia and Israel, a source told Avia.pro that the Syrian military received permission to use its air defense systems in case of the slightest threat from Israel, provided that the Syrian side bears responsibility for such actions," Avia.Pro said.

Despite completing the installation of their S-300 batteries in the Masyaf area of Hama this year, the Syrian Armed Forces have yet to use these air defense systems against the Israeli warplanes that have repeatedly bombed the country.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
based on what Avia.Pro has reported, the Syrian Armed Forces appear to be reliant on the Russian military to use these air defense systems against the Israeli Air Force jets that violate their airspace.

"Russia allowed the Syrian military to put the S-300 on full alert and attack Israeli aircraft in the event of the slightest threat," a military source told Avia.Pro.

The effectiveness of the S-300 against the Israeli Air Force has been in question since its installation, as the latter has carried out attacks as far east as the Deir Ezzor Governorate and as far north as Aleppo.

Former Israeli agent Fakhoury admits Lebanese Communist Party’s role in SLA’s defeat
[ALMASDARNEWS] The former Israeli agent and officer of the Israel-backed South Lebanese Army (SLA), Amer Elias Fakhoury,
...the Lebanese-American dual citizen appears in our archives just once, upon his arrest a few days ago, where he is named as both Amer Fakhoury and Amer al-Fakhoury...
allegedly admitted his forces’ defeat at the hands of the Islamic and leftist resistance during the years following the 1989 Taif Agrement, al-Diyar reported.

The former military commander of the notorious Khiyam Prison allegedly told the Lebanese authorities that he worked directly with Israel and acquired Israeli nationality after the SLA’s defeat in 2000.

During the interrogation by the Lebanese authorities, Fakhoury revealed the role of the Lebanese national resistance in fighting Israel during the 1980s and the military operations that targeted the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the South Leb Army at the time.

According to Fakhoury, the liquidation attempt of SLA commander Antoine Lahad, which was carried out by Souha Bechara of the Lebanese Communist Party, had a significant role in accelerating the withdrawal of the Israeli military from Leb.

"I was very shocked and realized that Israel would withdraw from Leb after the communist resistance operation," al-Diyar quoted Fakhoury.

"Antoine Lahad was no longer able to speak as before the liquidation attempt," Fakhoury reported.

Fakhoury allegedly pointed out that the liquidation attempt caused great shock in the Israeli circles, which tried to tame the situation through new resolutions and tried to find a strong military officer to take over the command of the SLA by wooing some Lebanese officers, but they ultimately failed.

The SLA officer said the liquidation attempt on Lahad revealed that the Lebanese Communist Party was deeply embedded in the SLA, leaving many in the group to mistrust their own members.
