[JSONLINE] Seven people were maimed Wednesday when a car pulled up to a crowd of about 100 mourners gathering for a funeral on Milwaukee's north side and someone inside the vehicle opened fire. Another Covid grim milestone. Add em to the tally
The victims were all in stable, pH balanced condition at a local hospital Wednesday afternoon, said acting Milwaukee Police Chief Michael Brunson. He said all are expected to survive at this point.
Brunson asked for the public's help in identifying the shooter.
Wounded in the shooting spree were three women, ages 24, 26 and 48, and four men, 20, 24, 26 and 29 years old.
Cedric Guy, owner of Serenity Funeral Home, said he was in another part of his business when he heard gunshots around 12:45 p.m.
"Once we heard the shots, we called 911," Guy said in a phone interview. "We shut everything down. It just went crazy from there on."
Guy estimates the number of mourners at 100 for Braxton Taylor, 26, the victim of a Sept. 17 homicide. Taylor was shot to death, his body discovered in the 200 block of N. 35th Street. His slaying is unsolved.
His funeral was scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. but was postponed after the shooting outside the funeral home, 4217 W. Fond Du Lac Ave.
"For the people that got hurt, I'm just sorry it happened," said Guy.
Bri’Anna Sutch, Taylor’s cousin, arrived at the funeral home around noon for a viewing for the family ahead of the funeral service. She said she was about to step outside around 12:45 p.m. when she heard four gunshots.
"I ran downstairs with my daughter to the women’s restroom and then, a few seconds after that, I heard two or three more shots," Sutch said in a phone interview. "It just came out of nowhere. It was scary. I was just in shock."
A woman who walked downstairs to the bathroom with a maiden of tender years told Sutch she watched her aunt get shot. The woman went back upstairs to help the aunt while Sutch stayed in the bathroom with her 2-year-old and the maiden of tender years.

Serenity is not so serene. But at least the shooter was not very accurate.

From 1989 to 1993's I was a back up Sr. Electronic Tech (Electronic Assoc.- civilian) for the KC-10 Flight Simulator at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Bumped into many a Pilot and BOT/Boom operator. All had Nightmare stories of some sort or another.
Given what they do and in the extreme conditions they sometimes must refuel in... It is amazing this does not happen several times a year.
The best accident video I saw during that period, was of a A4? - KC10 refueling near ICELAND where the hose kinked, A4 pilot backed off too much, lost the connection and the Boom operator dumped and several 100 pounds of fuel into the Jet Intake. Big Engine Puff and the A4 steep right bank as the Jet lost power and control.

Looking at the damaged KC-130J, my guess is that where 2 F-35s involved. Only speculation on my part and assuming visible not from emergency landing:
On the right side, an F-35 overshot (either during or before refueling contact) and collided w/ the props. That F-35 when down.
On the left side, an F-35 was already taking fuel and when the collision on the other side happened, he broke off very hard to the left and caused the front of the refueling pod to twist right and into the outboard props. That ripped the refueling pod from the wind mounts and explains why the fuel flow is still on.
The KC-130J was flying on one engine and 3 egg beaters. Could have easily been 3 aircraft down.

The 51-year-old Trump adviser abruptly left her role as the host of The Five in July 2018, several years before her contract expired, after 12 years at the network.
At the time, not much was said on her sudden departure except Guilfoyle maintained she chose to leave on her own terms to begin a new job at America First, a Trump super PAC.
The New Yorker on Thursday reported Guilfoyle was quietly pushed out after network executives received complaints accusing the host of sexually in appropriate behavior.

[Ynet] U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says he and his wife have tested negative for the coronavirus after they were examined on their airplane 20 minutes prior to landing in Croatia, on Friday.
Speaking after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he and his wife had tested positive for the coronavirus, Pompeo said it was the fourth time in two weeks he has been tested.
The secretary of state said he is reconsidering upcoming travel to Florida on Saturday and Asia starting Sunday as a precaution.
Pence is steady, but I have a feeling he'd do the usual "politely put up with the Dems' shit and hope everybody will see how nice and non-threatening I am" style of campaigning that we saw from the Bushes.
Even worse, he might govern that way, and I've had a bellyfull of "lose with class".

Styles often contrast from Presidency to Presidency.
In and of itself -- not objectionable.
Unfortunately, a "calm, businesslike" demeanor has too often been the gloss on a meek nature when it comes to Republicans, and how they deal with the left.

/\ You just beat me to it...was gonna mention that. Of course, some studies say it does.
Trump is probably the most tested person on the planet. He'll be fine. I'm waiting for Joey to "come down" with COVID-19 so there won't be any more debates.
First, he is a man of strong will, tremendous energy and self-confidence. He will likely recover quickly and emerge from quarantine on October 16 even more determined and energetic than he was before.
Second, the idiotic debates are finished. The first debate did Trump no favors; he's better off without them.
Third, there is no way now that the Democrats will allow Biden out of his basement. They were terrified of exposing this frail muppet to the rigors of the campaign before this, and now his advisors will say there's no need to counter Trump while he's quarantined.
Finally, watching Trump and his tough-minded, gorgeous, elegant wife beat this will finally signal to the nation that it's past time to end the lockdowns and get back to normal. Godspeed.

HCQ is thought to greatly reduce the severity of COVID symptoms if introduced early. If, as suspected that he's been taking it, then he will enjoy those benefits Also, he is in great health - no major underlying conditions I'm aware of. The Donald and Melania should beat this in great fashion and just in time for the election, and the nation I believe will take its cue from this.

So much for having a "debate" with the Cleveland Clinic.
When the head of the most important country in the world is diagnosed with an illness that requires him to be quarantined, that's a problem. When that diagnosis comes a month before the most fiercely contested and important election in our lifetime, the anxiety level of people in the Trump White House must be stratospheric. Thankfully, the Trump team is hip-deep in talented people who can travel throughout the country as President Trump's surrogates now that he's been diagnosed with the Wuhan virus and must quarantine.
Additionally, if Trump is affected only lightly, there's no reason why he cannot appear on a video at each rally. Even if he's not there in person, the crowd will respond enthusiastically to having Trump speak directly to them. We know from the Republican National Convention that the Republicans have talented videographers who know how to create a personal immediacy from a video presentation.
There are also people such as Mike Cernovich who believe that Trump will prove to be a role model for a good Wuhan virus recovery. When the disease first appeared, doctors were playing whack-a-mole to treat the various symptoms. Now that doctors have a better handle on the disease, they have a better sense about the hemorrhagic problems, the inflammation, and the interplay of things that benefit the immune system (e.g., Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and zinc), and medicines that treat the underlying virus (e.g., Remdesivr and hydroxychloroquine). Trump's orange-man suntan, which implies that his body has a high Vitamin D level, might be part of what gets him over the illness very quickly.

Additionally, if Trump is affected only lightly, there's no reason why he cannot appear on a video at each rally.
That seems to be the plan. The White House physician said the president is expected to continue carrying out his duties “without disruption” while recovering. A White House official said Friday morning that the president was experiencing mild symptoms but was working from the White House residence.
Melania Trump tweeted that she also experiencing mild symptoms but was "overall feeling good."

I wonder what kind of a person thinks that the treatment available to POTUS is comparable to the treatment available to an average patient in the average hospital.

Hydroxychloroquine was never claimed to PREVENT infection, just reduce the severity and lower the mortality rate as a treatment. Which it did in many cases.

[FoxNews] A pair of Boeing E-6B Mercury planes were detected flying along both coasts of the U.S. mainland early Friday by aviation enthusiasts -- just around the time President Trump announced he and first lady Melania Trump were diagnosed with coronavirus.
The Pentagon and U.S. Strategic Command did not immediately respond to calls and an email from Fox News seeking confirmation but eagle-eyed trackers on social media reported that one Boeing E-6B Mercury was flying along the East Coast and another was spotted in the air above Oregon.
The E-6 is used by the government to convey instructions to the fleet of ballistic submarines the U.S. has in waters around the world. The vessels can deploy nuclear-tipped Trident submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs).
There was speculation the airborne command posts were deployed as a warning to any of America’s enemies after news broke of Trump’s positive test for the novel coronavirus.
While military planes generally turn off their transponders in order to avoid being tracked, the two E-6Bs in the air early Friday morning had left theirs on, with the assumption being that their crews want to be seen.
“It's a message to the small group of adversaries with SLBMs and [intercontinental ballistic missiles],” Tim Hogan, a noted open-source intelligence practitioner, tweeted.

[Stars & Stripes] The Marine Corps has activated a new base on Guam for 5,000 members of III Marine Expeditionary Force set to move there over the next five years from Okinawa, Japan.
Camp Blaz, near Andersen Air Force Base, is the first new Marine installation since Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany was commissioned in Georgia on March 1, 1952, according to a Marine Corps statement announcing the activation this week.
"As the Marine Corps presence on Guam grows, I am confident that we ... will honor the history of the island of Guam, we will have the courage to defend it, and we will remain committed to preserving its cultural and environmental resources," the camp’s first commander, Col. Bradley Magrath, said in the statement.
The activation comes at a time of rising tensions in the Pacific as China presses claims to sea territory and builds military forces that threaten U.S. forces stationed in the region.
Camp Blaz is named in honor of the late Marine Brig. Gen. Vicente "Ben" Tomas Garrido Blaz, a Guam native.

PHOENIX (AP) — The coronavirus pandemic stopped work for nearly a month at the California farm where Luis earns $80 a day picking tomatoes, but that didn’t stop him from sending $800 to family in Mexico.
The money had traveled far by the time he was back at work in June. It kept his family fed, funded his father’s hernia operation and paid for other medical expenses.
Early in the pandemic, experts predicted that migrant workers in the U.S. like 32-year-old Luis — who didn’t want his last name used for fear of losing his job and being deported — would wire home less money as the virus hammered the American economy. But those predictions didn’t materialize for workers from Mexico, who have sent home huge amounts of money, called remittances.
In August, their payments amounted to $3.57 billion, according to the Bank of Mexico, the second-highest level on record for a single month and 5.3% above August 2019. Payments in the first eight months of 2020 ballooned to $26.4 billion, up 9.4% compared with the same period last year.
The enormous sums of money moving south, most through electronic transfers, have puzzled some economists, who say their original forecasts underestimated the strength of "human networks" between Mexican migrants in the U.S. and their families back home. They also say the rise has been driven by a weakened Mexican peso and the $600-a-week U.S. unemployment benefit that expired at the end of July. Despite that, the surge continued in August.
"We are honestly very surprised at their resilience," Jonathan Fortun, an economist at the Institute of International Finance in Washington, said about the payments.

Here is an Idea.
Require all INTERNATIONAL Wire Transfers apply a fee/tax if the Person cannot present a E-Verifiable Green Card / Work Visa or is NOT a US Citizen.
Add a 25% fee/tax to the estimated $148 Billion sent home each year by illegal immigrants to cover the failure to pay 25 to 40% in related taxes.
Then do a 5 way split of the $37 Billion.
20% to ICE,
20% to the Border wall enforcement,
20% to US hospitals that report illegal abuse of ER's, thus allowing some recovery of unpaid Illegal Immigrant services.
20% to US cities/Counties that report and detain Illegals. With the reward based on actual numbers ICE collects and not a UN-enforced verbal notification / paper agreement.
20% for a Anonymous Citizen/worker Reward program from ratting out employers violating the E-Verify Laws.

[FoxBusiness] The decision will significantly impact Seattle-area economy and Boeing’s unionized workforce in Puget Sound
Boeing Co. on Thursday announced plans to end 787 aircraft production in Washington state and consolidate its assembly in South Carolina starting in mid-2021.
The decision to move the jetliner assembly out of Everett, Wash., to its facility in North Charleston, S.C., is part of the company’s new strategy to handle the slowdown in aircraft demand brought on by the global coronavirus pandemic, the company said in a news release.
"The Boeing 787 is the tremendous success it is today thanks to our great teammates in Everett," said Stan Deal, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "They helped give birth to an airplane that changed how airlines and passengers want to fly. As our customers manage through the unprecedented global pandemic, to ensure the long-term success of the 787 program, we are consolidating 787 production in South Carolina.
The North Charleston facility opened in 2010 as a second assembly line for the widebody aircraft. It is currently set up to build the larger 787-10 model. Production of the smaller 787 models will continue in Everett, where production first began in 2007, until the transition takes place, the company said.
Deal said the Boeing team in Puget Sound will continue to focus on building 737, 747, 767, and 777 aircraft.
The plans were first reported on Tuesday in the Wall Street Journal, which said the decision will significantly impact the Seattle-area economy and Boeing’s unionized workforce in the Puget Sound.
Deal said Boeing recognized the impact of its production decision on workers, the industry, and community partners.
"We extensively evaluated every aspect of the program and engaged with our stakeholders on how we can best partner moving forward," Deal said. "These efforts will further refine 787 production and enhance the airplane's value proposition."

Move Boeing's corporate HQ out of Chiraq now. Maybe Tulsa. Someplace that holds no interest to the sort of suits that have ruined the company. Then move the rest of the manufacturing out of the People's Democratic Republic of Washington.

I don't see much use in an AR-9 pistol with a 4" barrel. There's no advantage over my EDC pistol then. My AR-9 has a 7.5" barrel. Mine also takes Glock magazines which are far more common. I put it together for around $700.

To recap: Nick Sandman was the polite, self-controlled Catholic schoolboy who has thus far settled defamation cases against CNN and the Washington Post on the list of fifty individuals and media organizations warned by Sandmann lawyer L. Lin Wood that they could be sued for falsely accusing, doxxing, and threatening the lad in response to a misleadingly edited video of his encounter with Native American “elder” Nathan Phillips. In the meantime, young Nick has interned for Senator Mitch McConnell (R, KY), started his freshman year at Kentucky’s Transylvania University, and spoken at this year’s Republican National Convention.
As I reread that just now, I was reminded of the demeanor of a very good lawyer letting you talk while he waits for you to say something he can pounce on. His apprenticeship with Senator McConnell and Mr. L. Lin Wood, esq. should yield very interesting results.

[AOL] Cycling team Trek-Segafredo has suspended the 2019 junior road race world champion Quinn Simmons after he made comments in support of President Donald Trump on Twitter.
Simmons, a 19-year-old American, was replying to Dutch cycling journalist Jose Been. Been initially tweeted statements that were critical of Trump.
"My dear American friends, I hope this horrible presidency ends for you. And for us as (former?) allies too," Been wrote, via the Associated Press."If you follow me and support Trump, you can go. There is zero excuse to follow or vote for the vile, horrible man."
Typical Eurotrash anti-American assholery, demonstrating a complete lack of emotional intelligence.
Simmons replied to Been with "Bye," and a Black-skinned waving hand emoji.
After another Twitter user replied to Been with "Apparently a Trumper," Simmons replied again with "That's right" and an American flag emoji.
TREK-SEGAFREDO: SIMMONS WON’T RACE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
The racing team released a statement late Wednesday night about Simmons’ tweets and his use of a Black hand emoji.
"While we support the right to free speech, we will hold people accountable for their words and actions. Regrettably, Simmons made statements online that we feel are divisive, incendiary, and detrimental to the team, professional cycling, its fans, and the positive future we hope to help create for the sport In response, he will not be racing for Trek-Segafredo until further notice."
There has been some backlash and talk of boycotting Trek cycling products after Simmons’ suspension, since he appears to be guilty of nothing more than stating his support for the current US president, and none of his comments were derogatory or inappropriate.
However, the issue could be his use of a Black-skinned hand emoji. Since Simmons is white, using an emoji with a dark skin tone could be considered to be a form of Blackface.
To the intellectually stunted, most certainly.
Trek-Segafredo has not explained what specifically got Simmons suspended.
Been, the cycling journalist who started the exchange, deleted her original tweet about Trump. On Thursday she tweeted that she feels "horrible about the situation and terrible for @QuinnSimmons9 to miss his beloved classics. To suspend him would never be my choice."
What did she think would happen when she tried to cancel him?
It appears that Been then deleted her entire Twitter account.
