Mexican troops kill 19 suspected cartel members, suffer no casualties: officials
[FoxNews] 17 rifles, 4 machine guns seized at Sinaloa scene

Mexican army troops have killed 19 suspected drug cartel gunmen in a shootout and suffered no casualties, the Defense Department said.

The ruling Morena party has criticized past administrations for lopsided death tolls in which many suspects but no soldiers died, suggesting they constituted executions or rights abuses.

The confrontation occurred Monday in the northern state of Sinaloa, on the outskirts of the state capital, Culiacan. The area has been shaken by infighting between two factions of the Sinaloa cartel since early September.

The department said that before the confrontation, troops detained a top lieutenant of the "Mayitos" faction, loyal to imprisoned drug lord Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada. The army did not give the name of the suspect, who they identified only by nickname "El Max."

The army then said troops were attacked by more than 30 assailants, at least 11 of whom managed to escape and 19 of them were killed when soldiers returned fire. The Defense Department claimed soldiers acted in self-defense and "strict adherence to the rule of law and with full respect for human rights."

It said that 17 rifles — including a .50-caliber sniper rifle — as well as four machine guns were seized at the scene.

The current round of fighting broke out after Zambada claimed he was forced aboard an airplane on July 25 by another drug capo who flew them both to the United States and turned them in to U.S. authorities. The man Zambada claimed had kidnapped him — Joaquín Guzmán López, one of the sons of imprisoned drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzman — is a leader of a rival cartel faction known as the "Chapitos."

The shootout Monday was the most lopsided confrontation since the killing of 22 suspects by soldiers at a grain warehouse in the township of Tlatlaya, in the State of Mexico, in 2014. While some of the 22 died in an initial shootout with an army patrol — in which one soldier was wounded — a human rights investigation determined that at least eight and perhaps as many as a dozen suspects were executed after they surrendered.

Seven soldiers were arrested, freed and then arrested again years later on charges of abuse of authority.

Man pleads guilty over swastika sign at anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian rally in Sydney
[IsraelTimes] Alan Yazbek held placard with Nazi symbol replacing Star of David on Israeli flag; restaurateur also displayed flag in Hezbollah colors reading ‘our boys in green and gold will win’

A restaurateur pleaded guilty on Thursday to displaying a Nazi symbol during an anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian rally in Sydney in early October.

Alan Yazbek was photographed at the Oct. 6 rally in Sydney’s central business district holding a sign that replaced the Star of David on the Israeli flag with a blue swastika, accompanied by the words “Stop Nazi Israel.”

The 56-year-old Yazbek was also photographed holding another sign in the green and yellow colors associated with Hezbollah — a designated terrorist organization in Australia — that very closely resembled the terror group’s flag, with the words “our boys in green and gold will win.”

The rally took place a day before the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel, carried out by Hamas.

Yazbek — the co-founder of the Nomad Group, which owns three high-end restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne — was the only person charged following the rally, which saw an estimated 10,000 people in attendance. Police initially tried to prevent the rally but later reached an agreement with organizers, allowing it to proceed peacefully.

Yazbek faces a potential sentence of up to 12 months in jail or a fine of 11,000 Australian dollars ($7,300). He is due to be sentenced on Dec. 10.

Performing Nazi gestures and displaying Nazi symbols such as the swastika have been banned by various state and federal laws since 2022. Jewish groups in Australia have reported a significant rise in antisemitic actions as the conflict in the Middle East escalates.

Earlier in October, an Australian state police chief was compelled to apologize to the Jewish community after a 65-year-old sergeant allegedly performed an outlawed Nazi salute at a police academy. In the same week, a self-described Nazi was told by a magistrate he would become the first person in Australia sentenced to prison for performing the same banned gesture.

In June, three soccer fans were fined for performing the salute during a Sydney match. The men were the first convicted in Australia for such offenses and have lodged appeals.

16 ‘terrorists’ killed in joint Iraq-coalition operation
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces announced on Thursday that they killed 16 suspected forces of Evil in Anbar province during a counter-terrorism operation conducted with support from the international coalition.

UNRWA confirms Hamas Nukhba force commander killed in IDF strike was a staff member
[IsraelTimes] UN agency acknowledges terrorist who led Re’im shelter massacre was on list of names that Israel gave it, but says no action taken because its request for more info went unanswered

UNRWA on Thursday confirmed that one of its staffer was killed by an Israeli strike in Gazoo

Nukbha force commander.

The IDF and Shin Bet said that Muhammad Abu Attawi, who led the killing and kidnapping of Israelis from a roadside kaboom shelter near Kibbutz Re’im on October 7 last year, had been employed by UNRWA since July 2022 while serving as a Nukbha commander in Hamas’s Bureij Battalion.

According to UNRWA, Attawi’s name was included in a letter the Paleostinian refugee agency received from Israel in July that included a list of 100 staff members who were also allegedly members of terror groups, including Hamas. But the agency said it did not take not take any action because Israel did not respond to a request for further information.

"The UNRWA commissioner general responded to that letter immediately stating that any allegation is taken seriously. He urged (the government of Israel) to cooperate with the agency by providing more information so he could take action. To date, UNRWA has not received any response to that letter," said Juliette Touma, UNRWA’s director of communications.

During the October 7 onslaught that started the ongoing war in Gaza, Attawi commanded the attack on a bomb shelter near Re’im where partygoers from the Nova festival had fled to.

The shelter was one of several that became infamous in the aftermath of the attack, having become deathtraps for many Israelis who huddled there amid the onslaught.

Nearly 30 were in the Re’im shelter when Hamas Lions of Islam stormed it, hurling in grenades and firing on those inside (see dashboard video here). Sixteen were murdered, four were kidnapped — including Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was executed many months later in Gaza — and seven survived.

Attawi was also involved in attacks on troops during the war in Gaza, the IDF said.

"Israel has requested urgent clarifications from senior UN officials and an urgent investigation into the involvement of UNRWA employees in the October 7 massacre," IDF Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Thursday.

Israel has long accused the agency of employing members of Hamas and other terror groups, allowing them to steep future generations in virulent anti-Israel ideology.

, and Syria, Israel has also accused multiple agency staffers of taking part in the Hamas-led attack on October 7, in which some 1,200 people in Israel were killed and 251 taken hostage.

Several donor countries cut aid to the agency after Israel provided evidence that employees took part in Hamas’s October 7 massacre. Many, however, have since reinstated their support, citing the dire need in Gaza.

During its operations in Gaza, the IDF found a Hamas data center located directly beneath UNRWA headquarters in Gaza City, in addition to numerous findings indicating the use of the agency’s assets for terror purposes.

The UN acknowledged in August that nine UNRWA staff may have been involved in the Hamas October attacks and fired them.

UNRWA (United Nations

Relief and Works Agency for Paleostine Refugees in the Near East) was established in 1949 and provides relief to Paleostinians considered refugees across the Middle East, including in Lebanon where it says up to 250,000 reside.

The only UN refugee agency established for a specific people, it has come under criticism for bestowing the status not just on those who lost their homes in 1948, but to all their descendants as well — a practice unheard of elsewhere. Israel and its supporters say this encourages an enduring victimhood mentality and narrative in Paleostinians and increases their dependence on aid.

-run civil defense agency, Mahmud Bassal, said Thursday that since the start of the latest IDF operation in northern Gaza, more than 770 people had been killed and that the toll could still rise as there were still people buried under rubble.

The figure could not be independently verified and did not differentiate between fighters and civilians.

He also referred to an IDF strike on a school-turned-shelter in the central Gaza Strip Thursday, saying that it killed 17 people and maimed dozens more.

The IDF said that the Arclight airstrike

had targeted a group of Hamas operatives using the Martyrs School in Nuseirat to plan and carry out attacks. It said that it took steps to mitigate civilian harm in the strike and accused Hamas of "systematically" using civilian sites for terror.

In recent months, the IDF has carried out dozens of airstrikes on what it says are Hamas sites embedded within locations used as shelters for civilians. It says it regularly takes steps to limit the harm by such strikes.

The civil defense agency also said on Thursday it can no longer provide first responder services in the north, accusing Israeli forces of threatening to "bomb and kill" its crews.

The Israeli military says the goal of its assault is to destroy the operational capabilities that Hamas is trying to rebuild in the north.

3 arrested in Sri Lanka over threats to Israelis; Chabad House named as potential target
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] One of the terror suspects is reportedly based in Iraq; intelligence said to have been provided from India; police spokesman says security increased in Arugam Bay surf resort area

Three people have been arrested in Sri Lanka amid terror threats against Israelis in the Arugam Bay area and other beaches in the island’s south and west, a government minister said Thursday.

Minister of Public Security and Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
h said the suspects had been taken into custody and were being interrogated.

He declined to give further details, saying that would hamper the investigation.

Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror, citing police sources, said that one of the Sri Lankan nationals arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division was based in Iraq.

It said details on the suspects had been supplied by the intelligence service in neighboring India.

The arrests came a day after the National Security Council called on Israelis to leave the popular tourist area and surfing resorts immediately, citing terrorism threats.

"Those leaving these areas are advised to leave the country or at least to the capital Colombo, where there is a high presence of local security forces," said the NSC.

The warning said Israelis should postpone travel to the rest of the country, and were also urged to hide signs that indicate they are Israelis and avoid gathering in large numbers.

Israel said it was in close contact with Sri Lankan authorities.

Israeli security sources said Thursday that the warning remained in force even after the arrests.

In the wake of the warning, Sri Lanka said it had increased security at the Chabad House Jewish community center in Arugam Bay.

"The information was that a place called ’Chabad House’ run by Israelis could be a target and we have taken measures to strengthen security," said police front man Nihal Thalduwa.

He said there had recently been tensions between Jewish tourists visiting Chabad House and the bay’s Moslem-majority population.

The army and the navy along with police commandos were deployed in the area to step up patrols and man roadblocks, he said.

Herath said the information received did not include specifics but warned than an "attempt will be made to create disturbances" targeting places where Israelis conduct religious gatherings.

Prior to the Israeli warning, the US Embassy in Sri Lanka said it had "received credible information warning of an attack targeting popular tourist locations" in eastern Arugam Bay.

Britannia and Canada shared the US warning on their own websites, while the Russian embassy advised its nationals to avoid crowded places while visiting the island.

The warnings came after social media posts called for a boycott of Israeli-owned businesses in the area. Protests by local Moslem groups against Israel’s war against terror groups Hamas

Israelis accounted for less than 1.5 percent of the 1.5 million tourists who visited Sri Lanka in the first nine months of this year — or around 20,000 people altogether.

But Arugam Bay, a hotspot for surfing around 400 kilometers (250 miles) east of Colombo by road, is a popular destination for Israeli tourists.

There have been no terror attacks in Sri Lanka since the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings that killed 279 people, including 45 foreign nationals.

group.

Tourism numbers fell sharply afterwards, and took another hit during a 2022 economic meltdown that precipitated widespread civil unrest.

But foreign visitor numbers have picked up after an International Monetary Fund bailout last year helped stabilize the economy.

Israel has issued travel warnings to several countries amid rising antisemitism and a surge in alerts of potential terror attacks targeting Jews and Israelis since the October 7 massacre.

Seven people were killed by button men at Nariman Chabad House in neighboring India in 2008, part of several attacks on Mumbai sites over four days by an Islamist Pak group. In total, 166 people were killed and hundreds injured.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
5 soldiers killed in south Lebanon; IDF: 3,200 Hezbollah targets struck in past month
[IsraelTimes] IDF chief says Hezbollah’s senior command ‘thoroughly finished’; strikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs after more than 120 rockets fired at northern Israel

Four Israeli reserve troops were killed and six others were wounded during a clash with Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon on Wednesday afternoon, the IDF said, and a soldier from the Oketz canine unit was killed on Thursday amid the ground offensive against the Iran-backed terror group.

In Israel, Hezbollah rocket fire from Lebanon continued unabated throughout the day as Jews observed the Simhat Torah holiday, a usually joyous occasion muted this year by the first Hebrew anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror onslaught.

The slain IDF reservists were named as:

  • Warrant Officer (res.) Mordechai Haim Amoyal, 42, from Lod.

  • Sgt. Maj. (res.) Shmuel Harari, 35, from Safed.

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Shlomo Aviad Nayman, 31, from Mitzpe Yeriho.

  • and Sgt. First Class (res.) Shuvael Ben-Natan, 22, from Rehalim.

They all served with the Carmeli Brigade’s 222nd Battalion.

According to an initial IDF probe of the deadly incident on Wednesday, several Hezbollah operatives emerged from a tunnel and hurled grenades at the troops. The soldiers returned fire, but it remained unclear as of Thursday night how many operatives were hit.

Among the six soldiers injured in the incident, three were listed in serious condition.

The announcement made Wednesday one of the deadliest days of Israel’s offensive in southern Lebanon.

The IDF said that on Thursday, Sgt. First Class Gai Ben-Haroosh, 23, from Pardes Hanna-Karkur, was also killed during fighting in southern Lebanon. He was a commander in the Oketz canine unit.

A reservist with the 55th Paratroopers Brigade’s 7155th Battalion was seriously wounded in the same incident.

In separate incidents on Thursday, the IDF said an officer with with the 7th Armored Brigade’s 75th Battalion was seriously wounded in an anti-tank guided missile attack; and an officer with 226th Paratroopers Brigade’s 6226th Battalion was seriously wounded by shrapnel. The wounded soldiers were all evacuated to hospitals for medical treatment.

STRIKES HIT BEIRUT FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE NIGHT
The ground offensive of the past month has been carried out in tandem with airstrikes targeting Hezbollah figures and infrastructure across southern Lebanon and, to a lesser extent, in eastern Lebanon and Beirut.

Lebanon state media said on Thursday night that strikes had again targeted the city’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh, after 17 Israeli strikes hit the area the previous night in what was one of the most intensive nights of strikes in the area over the past month.

Around half an hour before the strikes commenced, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee called for Lebanese civilians near two buildings in the southern suburb of Beirut to evacuate. He published maps alongside the announcement, which called on civilians to distance themselves at least 500 meters from the sites, which the military said belong to Hezbollah. He later called for people to evacuate the area surrounding another three buildings.

“Israeli warplanes launched a new strike a short while ago on the Choueifat” area, Lebanon’s official National News Agency said, later also reporting an Israeli air attack on another south Beirut neighborhood. AFPTV footage showed two plumes of smoke rising from Beirut’s south and AFP correspondents in the Lebanese capital heard two loud bangs about half an hour apart.

UNABATED ROCKET AND DRONE ATTACKS
Meanwhile, more than 120 rockets and several drones were launched at northern Israel from Lebanon on Thursday, with one of many barrages causing damage to a residential building in the northern city of Karmiel.

The building appeared to have been directly impacted, although the IDF said that five projectiles fired at the Karmiel area had been downed by air defenses. Medics said that an 84-year-old man was lightly injured in the attack.

Air raid sirens also blared in Nahariya, and explosions could be heard as air defenses intercepted rockets. Footage showed damage to a car, part of a projectile on the roadside, and a hole in the road where it struck.

At least three drones were also fired at Israel amid the rocket barrages, two of which were intercepted by air defenses. In one incident, two drones were launched at the Upper Galilee, and one impacted in an open area while the other was shot down. A third drone heading for the Western Galilee was intercepted a short while later.

A member of Hezbollah’s drone unit was killed in an airstrike in southern Lebanon on Thursday, the military said, after he was identified collecting a surveillance drone that had returned to Lebanon after being launched at Israel. It released footage of the incident.

The IDF also released footage on Thursday of Hezbollah weapons that have been captured over the last month of fighting.

“In the last month alone we have struck over 3,200 targets in southern Lebanon, including 350 weapon depots,” IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a press conference.

He said troops had captured some 3,200 explosive devices and some 2,500 anti-tank missiles and RPGs.

Israel launched its ground offensive in Lebanon last month, after a year of near-daily attacks carried out by Hezbollah-led forces on Israeli communities and military posts along the border.

It has said several times that it wants the ground operation to be swift as it does not wish to see troops bogged down in Lebanon, and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi has indicated that it may soon reach its end.

“In the north, there is a possibility of reaching a sharp end,” he told troops during an assessment in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, in a video distributed by the IDF. “We finished Hezbollah’s senior chain of command in a very thorough way.”

PJAK kills IRGC member in Kurdistan province
[Rudaw] At least one soldier of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was killed this week in a clash with the opposition Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK)
…one of several leftwing guerrilla groups aligned with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Current size is estimated at 1,000-3,000 members, half women. The head of the group is Abdul Rahman Haji Ahmadi , who lives in Germany…
in northwestern Iran.

The clash took place in a mountainous area of Kurdistan province, between the towns of Kamyaran and A. Fighting broke out when PJAK members were passing through the area and were "surrounded and ambushed" by Iranian forces, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported on Thursday.

The IRGC member who was killed has been identified as Mohammed Ahmadpour.

"Ahmadpour of the security forces sacrificed his life for the revolution in the conflict with the miscreants and anti-revolutionary group of PJAK to defend the security in the public area," said the semi-official Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the IRGC.

Two other IRGC members were maimed in the skirmish, according to Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

PJAK was established in 2003 and is considered the Iranian wing of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), but claims its links are only ideological. Both groups have bases in the Kurdistan Region from where they carry out attacks on Ottoman Turkish and Iranian security forces.

After its establishment in the Qandil Mountains - an area on the Kurdistan Region’s border with Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
where the PKK is also headquartered - PJAK expanded its operations into the Kurdish areas of western Iran, recruiting hundreds of young men and fighting bloody battles with the IRGC.

There are several Iranian-Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region. Last month, a commander from another of the groups, Komala, was killed in a clash with Iranian forces.

Tehran considers these groups as terrorist organizations and has frequently carried out cross-border air and ground operations to target them. Last year, Iran and Iraq signed a pact to secure the border and disarm the opposition groups.
