Ohio Authorities Seize Nearly 45 Pounds of Fentanyl: ‘Weapon of Mass Destruction’
[BREITBART] Authorities seized almost 45 pounds of illegal fentanyl in Montgomery County, Ohio, during the week of October 21.

On their Facebook page Tuesday, the Regional Agencies Narcotics & Gun Enforcement (R.A.N.G.E) stated that 3 suspects involved in the alleged drug trafficking scheme were also arrested.

Shamar Davis,31, Anthony Franklin, 30, and Grady Jackson, 37, of Dayton face charges of "Possession with Intent to Distribute 400 or more grams of Fentanyl and Felon in Possession of a Firearm," according to the post.

In addition to the fentanyl, authorities also uncovered a suspected 3 pounds of methamphetamine, 1 pound of heroin, 3 firearms, and almost $30,000 in cash, according to NBC News.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said the multi-million dollar drug haul could have devastated the surrounding area had it made its way into the community.

"The quantity of fentanyl in this case amounts to chemical warfare and a weapon of mass destruction," he commented, adding that "I applaud the work of our task force and our law enforcement partners ‐ this is an enormous amount of deadly drugs that will no longer be on our streets."

#4  Working at a dairy plant I noted a 55-gallon shipping barrel of Sodium Ascorbate, a food additive, marked "Product of China". Having just read about their adulterated Baby Milk Powder scandals it definitely gave me pause...

Thinking back on that moment I wonder with how, with all of the bulk food chemicals being imported, we can stop drugs, such as Fentanyl, being smuggled across the borders.

Pakistan embassy in Kabul closes visa section amid tensions
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Pakistain’s embassy in Kabul said on Sunday it was indefinitely closing its consular office in the Afghan capital due to security reasons, amid mounting tensions between the neighboring countries.

Closure of the visa section will come as a huge blow for many Afghans, hundreds of whom apply daily for permits to travel to Pakistain where they seek medical treatment, goods and university educations.

A message shared on WhatsApp by an embassy front man said the consular section would be closed as of Monday "until further intimation."

The front man told AFP that the consular section typically processes about 1,500 visa applications a day.

In Islamabad, Pakistain’s foreign ministry said the Afghan charge d’affaires had been summoned to "convey serious concerns over the safety and security of the diplomatic personnel of the embassy of Pakistain, Kabul, and its sub-missions."

In a statement, the ministry said embassy staff were being harassed.

"They were obstructed on the road and the embassy vehicles were also hit by cycle of violences while going towards the embassy," the statement read.

Protests outside the Pak embassy are common, sometimes triggered by people unhappy about visa wait times or security while standing in long queues.

Schools, public institutions remain closed across Iraq as protesters block roads
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Schools and public institutions across Iraq remained closed on Sunday, as protesters started fires and blocked key roads during ongoing anti-government protests.

While Iraq’s Teachers Union announced a nationwide strike in solidarity with demonstrators, the Ministry of Education issued a statement confirming that Sunday was an official work day.

In the cities of Baghdad, Basra, Nasiriyah, and Hillah, administrators defied the ministry’s statement and joined protesters in the streets.

Demonstrators set fire to tires, wood, and other debris on Sunday morning, causing traffic jams in the Iraqi capital and elsewhere across the country.

"We decided to cut the roads as a message to the government that we will keep protesting until the corrupt people and thieves are kicked out and the regime falls," said Tahseen Nasser, a 25-year-old protester.

"We’re not allowing government workers to reach their offices, just those in humanitarian fields," including hospitals and coppers, he said.

Sunday’s protest followed mass demonstrations a day earlier that turned violent as security forces killed one protester and maimed 91 others in Baghdad, according to security and medical sources.

The protesters congregating in the capital’s central Tahrir Square on Saturday blocked roads leading to a major port.

Iraqi activist and medic treating protesters abducted in Baghdad
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR) on Sunday called on the government and security forces to investigate the fate of activist and physician Siba al-Mahdawi who was kidnapped in Baghdad on Saturday night by an unknown group.

The commission said al-Mahdawi was returning from Tahrir Square in the Iraqi capital when she was kidnapped.

Al-Mahdawi’s mother said she had been kidnapped by "armed, masked men on pick-up trucks" as she headed home from Tahrir square late on Saturday evening.

The semi-official body called on the government and the security forces to reveal her where about.

It called al-Mahdawi’s abduction "a mark of shame for the whole of Iraqi society."

Al-Mahdawi was one of several doctors who have volunteered to provide medical aid to the protesters.

On Sunday, Iraqi protesters blocked roads in Baghdad to raise pressure on the government to resign after more than a week of renewed mass demonstrations.

Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi met with top security officials late Saturday, stressing the need to preserve peace, security and the safety of the protesters.

Bassil joins pro-Aoun protest supporting ‘reform plan’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Leb’s Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on Sunday joined thousands of people taking part in a rally in support of President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
, and called on demonstrators to refrain from accusing everyone of corruption, Lebanese news outlets reported.

Some of the protesters demands are "destructive to the economy" and "uncompromising," Bassil said, adding that the slogan "everyone means everyone" should be used to hold officials accountable and not for injustice.

A huge convoy of cars, some waving Aoun’s orange Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
party flags and his portrait snaked across a main highway on Sunday while a sea of protesters marched to Baabda palace.

It was the biggest counter protest to the massive wave of demonstrations that have gripped Leb since Oct. 17 and which have included Aoun’s removal among its demands.

"We’re here to say to Aoun that we love you and renew our trust in you," said Hiyam Khair.

Wearing a shirt with Aoun’s face, George Barbar said he had driven from northern Leb to show his support: "If people don’t join hands with the president, there will be no Leb," said Barbar.

A semblance of normality returned to Leb this week, with roads re-opening and banks opening to customers on Friday after being shut for two weeks, though restrictions were reported on foreign currency withdrawals and transfers abroad.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Kurdish official and a Syrian war monitor said that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

-backed opposition fighters have struck an international medic group killing one of its members in northern Syria.

Mustafa Bali, a front man for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, tweeted that he "received terrible news" of the death of a medic with the Free Burma Rangers near the town of Tal Tamr, where festivities with the Turkey-backed fighters are ongoing.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported the death of the medic saying he was from Asia.

The Free Burma Rangers, or FBR, identifies itself as a multi-ethnic humanitarian service movement working in Burma, Syria, Iraq and Kurdistan.

Rudaw has considerably more.
