The University of Texas at Austin is missing about 100 brains — about half of the specimens the university had in a collection of brains preserved in jars of formaldehyde. Someone finally checked the Humanities Department's staff.
One of the missing brains is believed to have belonged to clock tower sniper Charles Whitman. Is one of them named Abby Normal? Where is Dr. Frankenstein? That's "Frahnken-shteen!"
"We think somebody may have taken the brains, but we don't know at all for sure," psychology Professor Tim Schallert, co-curator of the collection, told the Austin American-Statesman.
His co-curator, psychology Professor Lawrence Cormack, said, "It's entirely possible word got around among undergraduates and people started swiping them for living rooms or Halloween pranks."

A preliminary university investigation has revealed that UT environmental health and safety officials disposed of multiple brain specimens in approximately 2002 in accordance with protocols concerning biological waste, according to a statement from the University of Texas at Austin, where the story began.
The brains, which were received in the 1980s, were destroyed because they were not suitable for research.
This occurred prior to the renovation of the Animal Resources Center, where the specimens had been stored in a secure location, according to the school.
We believe the workers disposed of between 40 and 60 jars, some of which contained multiple human brains, and worked with a biological waste contractor to do so safely, the school said.
[AnNahar] A Bangladesh court on Tuesday found an award-winning British journalist guilty of contempt for questioning the official corpse count of three million in the country's 1971 independence war.
Judges from a special war crimes court ruled David Bergman's blog in November 2011 had "hurt the feelings of the nation" and ordered him to pay a 5,000-taka ($65) fine or go to prison for seven days.
"Bergman has been found guilty of contempt of court. He is fined 5,000 taka or seven days imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine. And he is imprisoned until the rise of the court today," prosecutor Tureen Afroz told Agence La Belle France Presse.
The case was seen as a test of the country's commitment to free speech after Bergman cast doubt on the official version of one of the most contentious issues in Bangladesh's short history.
The judges said Bergman was unprofessional when he commented on the work of the International Crimes Tribunal, the domestic war court, which has found several top opposition leaders guilty of mass murder over their role in the conflict.
Prime Minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina ...Bangla dynastic politician and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She has been the President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She has once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia show such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums.. has justified the war crimes trials on the grounds that the scale of the bloodshed demands that perpetrators be brought to justice.
Most of the deaths have been blamed on troops loyal to the regime in Islamabad, which ruled over Bangladesh -- then known as East Pakistain.
But Hasina's government says Bangladeshi forces of Evil were behind some of the most brutal killings, including the massacre of intellectuals.
Most independent estimates say the actual toll would be hundreds of thousands.
Critics say her government has deliberately exaggerated the number of people killed as a way of intimidating her opponents and of countering unease from abroad about a process that lacks any international oversight.
Lawyer Abul Kalam Azad who filed the petition against Bergman told AFP the judgement was "fair and right".
"No one has the right to question the three million corpse count in the 1971 independence war. It is a settled issue," he added.
Bergman's lawyers have argued that his blog posts were "accurate, fair, and logical" and his comments about the court "fell well within the permitted limits of fair criticism."
"I think that what they [the Russians] do want to do is to create that ambiguity, plant the seeds of uncertainty so that the alliance members lose confidence that the rest of the alliance would come to their aid if they were, in fact, attacked," Hodges said. So, the Rooskies are doing it right...right?

I think a bit of akido would be better. Eastern European nations should simply draw up a mutual defense pact clear of NATO and western Europe and talk to the Russians about purchasing military vehicles.
This would help the Russians with their paranoia problems and give them a large customer at the same time.

..they had that before. They called it the Warsaw Pact. They could further relieve traditional Russian imperialism paranoia by putting Russians back in command as well. /sarc off

Personally, I'm interpreting as a slow surrender of the US-NATO/EU to the concept of Western + Eastern JudeoChristianity, or at least Christianity, creating a PCorrect-Deniable bulwark or bastion agz Hard Boy penetration into Europe vee the Black Sea Region + peripherals.
As per the still-escalating US-vs-China situation in East Asia + Pacific, GUAM-WESTPAC demands to be monitored + bombed by Darth Vlad + his LR "BEAR" Bombers to deter China - simil NATO-EU can accept Russian control of the Crimea, iff not 1/2 or most of the Black Sea Region, to help NATO-EU deter the Hard Boyz.

I have observed this fellow at a distance, while awaiting flights at the Atlanta airport. He nearly had to hide with his nose pressed against the boarding gate windows to escape being approached for hand shakes, autographs and photos. He has a cult following of well-wishers, I assure you.

It is difficult to imagine this despicable little weasel having any followers. He shows up at a riot and says I can make this riot go away. They pay him and he leaves and the riot may or may not end.
The firing mirrors a change in Turkey towards “more conservative, more religious” values, according to the president of the airline’s labour union. But can she cook?

Muslim sensitivities offended? There are many other red-blooded males who can appreciate this flight attendant and the fact that she tossed her burka aside for a bikini. This package of pulchritude shouldn't be so tightly wrapped and hidden.
[AnNahar] Taiwan arms developers said Tuesday that new surface-to-air missiles would defend its airspace for "up to 20 years" as it aims to update weaponry to counter a perceived military threat from China.
Production of the Tienkung III (Sky Bow III), the most advanced model in a line of locally-developed air defense missiles, is slated to last from 2015 until 2024.
Parliament recently approved the budget for the Tw$74.8 billion ($2.5 billion) project.
"The missile is capable of intercepting short-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and fighter jets," a bigwig in charge of the missile project at Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, the island's arms development hub, told Agence La Belle France-Presse.
"Together with US-made Patriot missiles, Tienkung III system will guard Taiwan's airspace in the next 15 to 20 years," said the official, surnamed Huang.
The institute also released a video to news hounds visiting the tightly-guarded compound in northern Taiwan.
In the short film two Tienkung III missiles were fired from vertical launchers at the Chiupeng air base, soaring into the sky and destroying targets.
Huang declined to give specifications of the new missile, aimed at replacing the aging U.S.-made Hawk missiles -- but media speculated that Tienkung III has a range of up to 200 kilometers (124 miles).
The project is part of the island's efforts to build an air defense shield against any Chinese attacks.
According to Taiwan's defense ministry, China has more than 1,500 ballistic and cruise missiles trained on the island.
Taiwan split from China in 1949 after a civil war, but China sees it as part of its territory awaiting reunification -- by force if necessary.
Ties between China and Taiwan have improved markedly since Beijing-friendly President Ma Ying-jeou took office in 2008 and strengthened trade and other links, but fears of a Chinese invasion remain.

IIRC, Darth Vlad said that he will no longer be able to hold high political office = political power come Year 2024, as per post-Soviet Russia's Constitution.
Methinks it can be safely argued or inferred that China has until Year 2024 to get back Taiwan + see the post-2015, OWG Globalist-led? US mostly or wholly isolated or contained to HAWAII-EASTPAC [Year 2020?] = 1/2 of PACIFIC???
In China's view, there is gener nuthin out here in WESTPAC for the US save Territories which are NOT sovereign US States like Hawaii + Alaska.

Hope they're not buying parts from PRC.

We must bear in mind that, all things equal, TAIWAN is more likely than not to be on the receiving end of any PLA Conventional-Nuclear First Strike or Preemptive Strike, thus Taiwan must ensure that its Arsenals, etc. can-n-will survive.
A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
