[Guardian] An hours-long gun and suicide attack on a Kabul government compound killed at least 43 people, the health ministry said on Tuesday, making it one of the deadliest assaults on the Afghan capital this year.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the raid, which caps a bloody year for Afghanistan as long-suffering civilians and security forces were slaughtered in record numbers.
Another 10 people were wounded in Monday’s massacre on a site where the ministry of public works and an office that handles pensions and benefits for war veterans are located, spokesman Waheed Majroh said.
Gunmen stormed the compound mid-afternoon after detonating a car bomb at the entrance, sending terrified government workers running for their lives. Some jumped from windows several floors high to escape the militants.
Hundreds more were trapped inside buildings for hours as heavily armed security forces swarmed the area, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle punctuated by multiple explosions.
At least four militants, including the suicide bomber, were killed and more than 350 people freed, officials said. Most of the dead and wounded were civilians, who have borne the brunt of the 17-year war.

He said the building was cleared by the security forces at about 1am.
On Monday afternoon, a number of attackers stormed a government building in downtown Kabul ‐ few kilometers in the east of the green zone where diplomatic offices are located ‐ at around 3pm Kabul time on Monday.
The attack started with a boom-mobilekaboom near the Ministry of Public Works and the National Authority for People with Disabilities and Martyrs’ Families in Kabul’s PD16 ‐ near Makroyan-e-Kohna colony.
Three attackers then started gunshots and entered the building of the National Authority for People with Disabilities and Martyrs’ Families.
"All three attackers were killed by the security forces," Danish said on Tuesday morning, adding that "350 employees of the government organization were rescued."
No group has so far grabbed credit for the attack.
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least people including women were locked away ... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not... by the security forces after a drug processing lab was busted by the security forces in Kandahar city.
Provincial police front man Zia Durani confirmed that a drug processing lab has been busted in the vicinity of 15th police district of Kandahar city.
Durani further added that four people including three women have been arrested and 3.5 kilograms of drugs were confiscated by the security forces.
He said the individuals were attempting to smuggle the drugs outside the country, including India.
This comes as scores of people have been arrested on charges of drugs smuggling from the international airports of the country, including Kandahar province during the recent months.
This comes despite the security authorities have stepped up to counter-drugs production and smuggling which is considered as main source of financial support to the anti-government armed krazed killer groups.

The former ISIS Khurasan group member also handed over a Ak-47 assault rifle to the security forces, the provincial government added.
Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in the East but both Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... and ISIS Khurasan hard boyz are active in some of its districts and often attempt to carry out attacks against the government and security forces.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least seven Talibs have been killed in separate Arclight airstrikes conducted in western Farah province of Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said the security forces carried out an airstrike in Karizbedal Village in Posht Rod district, leaving at least six holy warriors dead.
The statement further added that one of the local commanders of the group identified as Mullah Bakhtiar was among those killed.
The Air Forces also carried out an airtrike targeting the vehicle of another local Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... commander'>Taliban Überstürmbannführer in Bakwa district of Farah, MoI said, adding that the Taliban Überstürmbannführer was killed and the vehicle was destroyed in the airstrike.
The anti-government armed krazed killer groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrikes so far.
Farah is among the relatively volatile provinces in West of Afghanistan where Talibs are relentlessly attempting to expand their foothold and increase attacks against the government and security forces.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan Special Operations Forces (SOF) released a dramatic video purportedly showing a combination of series of Arclight airstrikes against the Talibs in various parts of the country.
The video starts with an airstrike against a Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... group member identified as Hazrat who is being targeted on a roadside and subsequently purports to show the airstrike which eliminated the executioner of Taliban Mohib Jan alias Haroon.
The video also purports to show an airstrike against Mullah Abdul Jabar, Taliban’s chief of suicide operations in Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province.
In other parts of the video an airstrike purportedly shows the elimination of Mullah Ahmad, Taliban’s shadow intelligence chief in Helmand while another airstrike purports to show a raid against Shafi, ISIS Khurasan explosives controller.
It is yet not clear if the airstrikes were exclusively carried out by the Afghan Air Forces as both the Afghan and U.S. forces conduct regular airstrikes against the anti-government armed krazed killers.
However, we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by... it is worth mentioning that the Afghan Air Forces have been conducting sophisticated air sorties against the bully boyz for the past several months and recently launched night airstrikes against the krazed killer groups, mainly targeting the bully boyz in the restive southern provinces of Afghanistan.

If one follows closely the articles on Afghanistan that have appeared in Rantburg over the last four months there is a decided indication that Afghan forces intelligence services have greatly improved. Recently, air attacks on province bigwigs have occurred on a daily basis.
[RADIOSHABELLE] The criminal mastermind of turbanboom-mobiles that killed 26 people and injured nearly 40 others in Mogadishu in 2017 was executed in Somalia on Monday, the prosecutor of the military court said.
Abdulle Bule said al-Shabaab ... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... member Abdikadir Abukar was convicted of being behind a hotel bombing that killed 10, one near the ministry of the sport that killed nine, and a boom-mobile near an Italian restaurant in the capital that killed seven.
Al-Shabaab wants to overthrow the weak, U.N.-backed Somali government and impose strict Islamic law.
It has steadily been losing territory since African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... peacekeepers arrived a decade ago, but still carries out frequent bombings in the capital.
At least 13 people were killed and 17 maimed in a car kaboom claimed by the al Qaeda-linked group close to the president’s residence in Mogadishu on Saturday.

[Libya Observer] The bodies of 34 Æthiopian Christians executed by ISIS bandidosturbans in Libya’s Sirte in 2015 have been exhumed from a mass grave, the Department of Criminal Investigations of the Central Region (DCICR) reported on Monday.
The grave was unearthed on Sunday, after information was obtained during investigations of placed in durance vile Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! ISIS members.
"The bodies will be repatriated to Æthiopia once internal and international legal procedures are completed" the DCICR said.
In October 2017, Libyan authorities located the burial place of the Egyptian Copts who had their heads chopped off by ISIS together with the Æthiopian Christians.
20 Egyptian Copts were handed over to the Egyptian government on May 14, 2018 after taking DNA samples.
A horrific video posted on social media in April 2015 appeared to show ISIS bandidosturbans beheading the Christians on a beach.
ISIS took control of Sirte in 2015 and lost the city in December 2016 to al-Bonyan al-Marsous forces.

Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes, the Saudi Coalition and the pro-government Yemeni Army troops began their attack on Monday by storming the Houthi defenses at the eastern sector of the Nihm District.
The Houthi forces said they were able to repel the Saudi Coalition’s attack on the Nihm District, adding that they killed several krazed killer in the process.
However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... pro-government media channels contrasted the Houthi reports, stating that their troops managed to capture several points inside the Nihm District on Monday.
The Nihm District is imperative to both sides as it is the gateway to the quiet provincial capital of the Sana’a Governorate.

This attack by the Houthi forces this afternoon comes just hours after the Saudi Coalition failed to advance in eastern Sanaa

[DW] Police in Barcelona were looking into a terror threat after the US State Department warned travelers to avoid the city's Las Ramblas area. The authorities were reportedly searching for a 30-year-old Moroccan bus driver.
Catalan police were checking coaches, buses, and minibuses in Barcelona on Monday, after the local media reported on a possible terror plot involving a 30-year-old Moroccan. The man is reported to have a bus driver license. The daily El Periodico de Catalunya said that the police have circulated an internal note that the man could drive a bus into civilians.
The authorities also boosted police presence at popular tourist landmarks, including the Sagrada Familia Cathedral and the Las Ramblas Boulevard, according to the Spanish daily El Pais. In 2017, a 22-year-old Moroccan drive a van into crowds at Las Ramblas, killing 16 and injuring 131 people. He was killed several days later.
On Sunday, the US State Department unexpectedly tweeted a terror warning to travelers in Barcelona. The message advises visitors to exercise "heightened caution" around vehicles "including buses" in the Las Ramblas area.
"Terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, and other public areas," the US officials said.
Talking to Rac1 Radio on Monday, Catalonian Interior Minister Miquel Buch confirmed that the police were "working on this threat."
"All of (the threats) are being intensively," Buch said. "This is one more."
Buch also defended the decision not to raise Spain's threat level, which the authorities have long held at four out of maximum five.
The official said it would be a "mistake to allow ourselves to live in fear."
"We need to be able to live in absolute freedom and normality," he told the radio. "If we don't, we are handing them the victory."
As a result of the information that they have received, the Catalan police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, are now looking for a man who has been identified as B. L., 30, from Casablanca, Morocco. This man is in possession of a bus driver’s license and he has a police record in Spain for insulting a member of the Civil Guard at Málaga airport in 2006.
The police are currently carrying out checks on bus and minibus drivers in the center of Barcelona and monitoring car rental companies in a bid to locate the potential suspect. There is no indication that he is currently on Spanish territory.
These kinds of alerts are common over the Christmas season and the Interior Ministry has the terror alert set at level 4 on a scale of 5.

The Islamic State has not yet issued any statement regarding the alleged death of this terrorist commander.
If al-Dulaimi was killed, he would be the highest ranking Islamic State commander to be killed in 2018.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish military and their rebel allies have been given the "green light" to begin their offensive to capture the key town of Manbij in northern Aleppo, the Yeni Safak publication reported on Monday.
According to the Yeni Safak report, more than 8,000 Ottoman Turkish soldiers and Free Syrian Army ... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund... (FSA) fighters were deployed to the Manbij front to capture the town from the "Kurdistan Workers Party" (PKK).
The PKK reference is for the Syrian Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and People’s Protection Units (YPG), who are considered terrorist groups by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire.... The Yeni Safak report claims that the primary purpose of this Manbij operation is to eliminate the "PKK’s supply line from the Assad regime."
The YPG and SDF troops in northern Syria were embedded with the U.S. Coalition and do not have any military ties with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in Manbij.
In response to the buildup of Ottoman Turkish forces in Manbij, the Syrian Arab Army has begun amassing troops to the south of the town in order to prevent any advance into their areas.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The U.S. Coalition carried out a new Arclight airstrike in the Euphrates River Valley region of Deir Ezzor, today, targeting an area near the front-lines of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to a military source in Damascus, the U.S. Coalition bombed the Halbiyah-Zalbiyah Bridge that links the territories controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces and Syrian Arab Army in western Deir Ezzor.
The source said that the Syrian Arab Army was recently reconstructing this bridge and was nearly finished until it was bombed by the U.S. Coalition.
The U.S. Coalition has not issued any statement about this bombing.
Al-Masdar’s source in Damascus said that the Syrian Arab Army believes the reason for the bombing was to prevent them from being able to cross the Euphrates and enter the SDF’s territory.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) sent a large convoy of reinforcements to the front-lines of Manbij in northern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.
According to the SOHR report, the Manbij Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces sent reinforcements to the front-lines after the Turkish Army and their rebel allies began amassing troops near this town in northern Aleppo.

[ALMASDARNEWS] A large Syrian Arab Army (SAA) convoy made their way to the eastern region of Syria, today, after receiving orders to redeploy to the Euphrates River Valley area of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
The Syrian Arab Army convoy reportedly left the southeastern countryside of the Idlib, where they were positioned at the front-lines with the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham near the Abu Dhuhour Military Airport.
According to reports, the reinforcements were made up of Tiger Forces, National Defense Forces (NDF), and Elite Republican Guard personnel.
These reinforcements will be deployed to the front-lines of the Euphrates River Valley as they await orders from the Syrian Arab Army’s High Command.
The recent mobilization of Syrian Arab Army troops to the Deir Ezzor province comes just days after U.S. President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... announced that his armed forces were being withdrawn from Syria.
