[Daily caller] A DHS official told reporters that "literally dozens" of sick migrants are being transported to hospitals across the border each day and that growing numbers of children showing illness are present in border patrol custody.
"We’re doing dozens of hospital trips every single day with children that have fevers or manifest other medical conditions," CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan told CBSNews Wednesday morning.
An official also told reporters that DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is requesting that Mexican authorities also investigate the living conditions of migrant holding camps across the border to see if that is the source of illness.

Important not to import illness as well as other forms of taxpayer subsidised parasitism.
Should tell people wanting to immigrate who don't have a job waiting earning greater than average wage, "No Chance". Those with children should earn vastly more.
[PRESSTV] French judges have discontinued their long-running investigation into a deadly 1994 attack on a former Rwandan president, which sparked genocide in the African country.
A French legal source told media outlets on Wednesday that the investigation was stopped on December 21 due to a lack of evidence.
Seven people close to Rwandan President Paul Kagame were charged in the inquiry. In October, French prosecutors had requested a halt to the probe because of insufficient evidence against the seven suspects.
The investigation began in 1998. After a closure interval it reopened in 2016 before hitting a series of legal obstacles the following year.
The Rwandan genocide began following the shooting down of a plane transporting former President Juvenal Habyarimana on April 6, 1994. Burundian President Cyprien Ntaryamira was also killed in the plane crash. They were both ethnic Hutus.
After the crash, Hutus who were in majority, were incited to commit acts of ethnic violence against Tutsis. Habyarimana’s liquidation triggered 100 days of bloodshed that left thousands of people dead, mostly members of the Tutsi minority.
In 2009, a Rwandan inquiry found Hutu myrmidons, who viewed Habyarimana as too willing to compromise with Tutsis, responsible for the liquidation. A report from ballistic experts in 2012 also suggested that the missiles used in the attack were likely fired from a camp held by Habyarimana's own presidential guard.

Okaaay, it's technically feasible, but.. Why? Like the Soviet-era Ekranoplan this looks more like a Mad Scientist's fantasy than something cost effective.

The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... has commended his military forces for carrying out a successful test launch of the cutting-edge Avangard hypersonic missile system.
"On my instructions the industrial enterprises and the Defense Ministry have prepared for and carried out the final test of this system," Putin said at a meeting with members of his government on Wednesday. "The test was completely successful; all technical parameters were verified."
The test on Wednesday saw an Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle launched from the Dombarovskiy missile base in Russia’s southern Ural Mountains, successfully hitting its designated target 6,000 kilometers (3,700 miles) away in Kamchatka’s Kura shooting range.
"The Avangard is invulnerable to intercept by any existing and prospective missile defense means of the potential adversary," Putin said after the test.
When first unveiling the Avangard in his state-of-the-nation address in March, Putin said the hypersonic system has an intercontinental range and could reach speeds 20 times faster than the speed of sound when flying in the atmosphere.

[Breitbart] The Dow Jones Industrial Average rocketed upward Wednesday in the highest single-day point increase ever and highest percentage raise in nearly a decade.
The Dow closed at 22,878 the day after Christmas, a 1,086-point, nearly five percent gain on the day. It was the highest one-day point gain in history and the greatest percentage gain since March 2009, according to Fox61. The boost came in the first day of trading since Monday’s Christmas Eve dip of more than 600 points.
The S&P and Nasdaq had their best days since August 2011, according to the report. The S&P was up four percent Wednesday while the Nasdaq rose 4.8 percent.
Retail sales hit their highest levels in five years, according to CNN Business. Mastercard and Amazon were among those reporting Wednesday that 2018 saw top holiday retail sales numbers. The boost was attributed at least in part to soaring wages and diving gas prices.
The numbers are supported by strong consumer sentiment numbers issued the week ahead of Christmas Day. They were the highest recorded in the past two decades. Results noted that consumers were more concerned with jobs and income prospects than the stock market. Only 12 percent of consumers were concerned with the markets. The University of Michigan report stated, "If the current expansion lasts past mid-2019, as is likely based on current data, it will become the longest expansion ever recorded."
