US keeps Pakistan on religious violators list
[Dawn] The United States on Friday placed Pakistain on a list of countries that "engaged in or tolerated particularly severe violations of religious freedom" during 2022.

"Around the world, governments and non-state actors harass, threaten, jail, and even kill individuals on account of their beliefs," said Secretary of State Antony Blinken while announcing the designations.

"In some instances, they stifle individuals’ freedom of religion or belief to exploit opportunities for political gain."

Noting that such actions sow division, undermine economic security, and threaten political stability and peace, the top US diplomat said his country "will not stand by in the face of these abuses".

Therefore, "today, I am announcing designations against Burma (Myanmar), the People’s Republic of China, Cuba, Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
, Iran, Nicaragua, the DPRK (North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
), Pakistain, Russia, Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan as Countries of Particular Concern ...for having engaged in or tolerated particularly severe violations of religious freedom".

He said he was also placing Algeria, the Central African Republic, Comoros, and Vietnam on the Special Watch List for engaging in, or tolerating, severe violations of religious freedom.

Pakistain stayed on this several years before it was moved to the list of violators.

The Trump administration first placed Pakistain on this list in Dec 2018 and retained it in 2020 as well. The Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft
...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us...
, which came to office in January last year, retained the old list with some changes, but kept Pakistain on it.

Countries are listed in this category for allegedly engaging in or tolerating "systematic, ongoing, (and) egregious violations of religious freedom".

Agencies add: Cuba, Nicaragua and Russia’s Wagner mercenary group were added to the blacklist on international religious freedom, opening the path to potential sanctions.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Wagner Group was being designated due to involvement in abuses in the Central African Republic, where nearly a decade of fighting has pitted Christians against Moslems.

Cuba and Nicaragua were both newly designated as "Countries of Particular Concern" under the annual determinations, meaning that the two leftist Latin American states _ already under US sanctions _ could face further measures.

Nicaragua’s increasingly authoritarian president, Daniel Ortega, has clamped down on the Catholic Church since accusing it of supporting 2018 protests against his government, which were crushed at the cost of hundreds of lives.

A bishop critical of the government, Rolando Alvarez, was put under house arrest in August with other priests and seminarians arrested on unspecified charges.

Afghanistan
Pakistani Interior Minister Claims TTP Attacking Pakistan From Afghan Soil
[ToloNews] The interior minister of Pakistain, Rana Sanaullah, claimed that the Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP) is attacking the country using Afghanistan soil.

In a presser on Thursday, the Pak official said that preventing the TTP's activities is good for both Kabul and Islamabad.

"See, this promise is not only for us, but for the whole world. They (the Taliban) promised to the whole world that the Afghanistan’s soil would not be used for any terrorism. If they (the Taliban) follow it, it is not only in the benefit of Pakistain but it is their own benefit, if they want to go with the world," Pakistain's interior minister Rana Sanaullah said.

According to the Pak interior minister, TTP has all of its equipment in Afghanistan and nearly 5,000 of its fighters are there hiding.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
the Islamic Emirate Ministry of Defense rejected the claim of the Interior Minister of Pakistain, saying that Afghan soil will not be used against any country.

"Once again, we reassure all the nations in the region and the world that Afghanistan's soil will never be used against other countries. There is no threat coming from inside Afghanistan and there never will be," said Enayatullah Khwarazmi, defense ministry front man.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other leg......
some political experts urged the Afghan government to address these allegations with the Pak government.

"The Islamic Emirate of the Taliban needs to look into this issue and ask them to provide us the relevant documents so that we may look into this issue, but if their claims are false, let the world know," said Aziz Marij, a political expert.

"As Pakistain says in words, it should prove in practice that Afghanistan's security and stability are in their best interests, and both parties should avoid the bitter history of embracing one other's enemies," said Hassan Haqyar, another political expert.

Earlier, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain, with the mediation of the Islamic Emirate, signed a ceasefire with the government of Pakistain.

But the TTP breached the cease-fire and started attacking Pak soldiers two days ago when a delegation from Pakistain visited Kabul.

#1  They ought to add some Olympic events that are geared towards Palestinians to see if we can get more Arab folks on the podium. Rock throwing, rhythmic AK-47 dancing and tunneling. Sure the NK folks would probably win tunneling gold but there is room on the podium for an Arab country of some sort. It would probably not warrant prime time coverage by most of the niche sports get shuffled off onto other channels anyway. #3  Because they are ideologically consonant with Iran, which is witnessing a righteous uprising, the kind that is not possible in say Afghanistan, where women have been conditioned more effectively. A crushing of women under extreme patriarchy and their dehumanization is needed to make them docile enough for mullahs. The houthis are just starting early as the right arm of a future Ansar Allah dominated government.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Resident of Ingushetia receives suspended sentence for comments on the social network
[KavkazUzel] A court in Nazran considered comments about the former head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, left on the social network in connection with the sentence to the leaders of the Ingush protest, calls for extremist activity and sentenced Sunzha resident Ilez Khamkhoev to a year and a half of probation.

Yunus-Bek Yevkurov led Ingushetia from 2008 until the end of June 2019. Since October 2018, opponents of the agreement on the administrative border with Chechnya, concluded by Yevkurov with Ramzan Kadyrov, have been seeking the resignation of the head of Ingushetia. Since July 8, 2019, he has been the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia.

The Nazranovsky District Court of Ingushetia sentenced 31-year-old Sunzhi Ilez Khamkhoev to a year and a half of probation because of a negative comment about Russian Deputy Defense Minister and former head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, the OVD-Info human rights project reported on December 2.

Khamkhoev was found guilty of incitement to extremist activity (Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) due to comments in December 2021 on an Instagram post about sentences to Ingush protest leaders.

According to the prosecution, in these publications, the man accused associates of the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and the former head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, of persecuting activists and called for resistance to them, the publication states.

On the website of the Nazranovsky District Court, the information in the "Courtwork" section is not available at 23.50 Moscow time on December 2.

On March 26, 2019, a large-scale rally agreed with the authorities against the border agreement with Chechnya took place in Magas. The protesters did not disperse for the night, and in the morning the security forces tried to disperse them, after which the criminal prosecution of the protesters began.

On December 15, 2021, a court in Essentuki sentenced Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov and Malsag Uzhakhov to nine years in prison, Ismail Nalgiev, Bagaudin Khautiev and Barakh Chemurziev to eight years, and Zarif Sautieva to seven years and six months. Seven leaders of the protest in Ingushetia received lengthy sentences for a peaceful protest, at which they called for preventing unrest, Russian journalists and political scientists commented on the court's decision.

Donogo reports Kops searched his house
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] After the search, the security forces took away a phone and a computer with valuable historical materials, said today the former deputy director of the National Museum of Dagestan, Khadzhi-Murad Donogo.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 1, it became known that Hadji-Murad Donoy was forced to leave the post of deputy director of the National Museum of Dagestan after the Association of Special Forces Veterans wrote a complaint against him to the head of the republic , Sergei Melikov, accusing the historian of nationalism.

The complaint to Melikov said that Donogo participated in Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan in scientific conferences of organizations that pursue an anti-Russian policy and "promote separatism in the North Caucasus."

The veterans also said that nationalism and separatism are promoted in the historian's public speeches, while his scientific works and articles in magazines "are aimed at exacerbating interethnic relations and weakening our state."

Hadji Murad Donogo suggested that his dismissal from the National Museum was due to his scientific works and speeches in which he expressed a point of view that did not coincide with official history. There was no scientific refutation of his works, however, the complaint that served as the basis for dismissal became the reason for a call to the department for combating extremism.

The historian reported on the search that took place on November 30 in the house of Hadji Murad Donoy only today.

"The day before yesterday, my house was searched. After the morning prayer, a group --not local!-- dashed in with a warrant. We walked around the apartment, seized a computer, phone, flash drives, two bags of books, folders. I did not understand what they were looking for. Then they took me to 6th department, they interrogated, in particular, they were interested in my participation in international scientific conferences, they called a number of some names that I heard for the first time, whether any suspicious people met with me, whether they offered me something," he wrote in his telegram channel.

Donogo noted that the last conference in which he participated took place "about 6-7 years ago."

"I participated at conferences as part of the delegations of the Academy of Sciences, the university, etc., but for some reason the authorities are only interested in me. Thus, I was left without a telephone with contacts and, most importantly, without a computer in which valuable historical materials and documents, which I have been collecting for many years. All this was sent for examination, and if nothing suspicious was found in them, they promised to return it, which is hard to believe. If they get to the bottom of something, then, accordingly, apparently, an arrest," says message.

The historian lamented the continuing pressure on him.

"It was I who received such a 'gift,' when I retired - dismissal from the post of Deputy General Director of the National Museum, suspension from teaching at the university (where I taught for 25 years), etc. Therefore, I am practically disconnected from my favorite work, projects which I dreamed of finishing by the end of my life, apparently, will remain unfulfilled, which is a pity," he wrote.

It should be noted that Hadji-Murad Donogo is a Caucasian scholar, doctor of historical sciences, professor, author of many dozens of books and monographs, including about the Caucasian War and Imam Shamil.

In October 2019, Dr. Donoy's book "Amanat of the Caucasian War" was published in Makhachkala, dedicated to the eldest son of Imam Shamil, which contains previously unpublished documents from his life. Serious research on the subject of the Caucasian War is in demand in modern society, historians interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" pointed out at the time.

Azerbaijan's Penitentiary Service reacts to Bagirzade's wife's appeals
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Taleh Bagirzadeh,
...an Azerbaijani Shiite, in his youth he studied theology in Iran, then came home to found the Movement for Muslim Unity, which can be translated as Al Tawheed. He was sentenced to 20 years for murder, terrorism, organization of mass riots, illegal possession of weapons, and attempted forcible seizure of power. Authorities accused him and the Muslim Unity Movement of planning an armed insurrection against the state, claiming they’d thrown Molotov cocktails and opened fire on the police officers during the 2017 raid...
the leader of the Muslim Unity movement,
...they describe themselves as a peaceful Shiite Islamic socio-political movement that calls for democratic reform and religious liberties [for Shiites], but it’s clear from context that they they mean the peace that comes from submission to their particular form of Islam...
who is on a seventh day of hunger strike to protest pressure in the colony, is under medical supervision, his wife was told at the Azerbaijani Penitentiary Service. The absence of calls from her husband in the department was explained by his protest in connection with the seizure of the radio, Ismailzade said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 27 it became known that Taleh Bagirzade, the leader of the "Muslim Unity" (MMU) movement, went on a hunger strike in the colony after being insulted by the deputy head of the penitentiary. He also demanded to stop pressure on the organization he leads. On November 28, a representative of the Penitentiary Service stated that the information about Bagirzade's hunger strike was not true. Relatives and lawyers of Bagirzade denied the information of the Penitentiary Service and reported that the theologian continues his hunger strike.

Bagirzade's lawyer reported on November 30 that Bagirzade's condition had worsened, while he was not isolated from other prisoners and was not under medical supervision. The penitentiary service does not provide informationon Bagirzade's condition, human rights activist Rufat Safarov pointed out on December 1.

On January 25, 2017, the leader of the Muslim Unity movement, Taleh Bagirzade, and 17 of his supporters were sentenced to terms of 10 to 20 years on charges of organizing riots after the operation of the security forces in November 2015, which resulted in the death of seven people, including two policemen, says the reference of the "Caucasian Knot" Nardaran.

The defendants complained of being tortured. They pleaded not guilty. Azerbaijani human rights activists recognized the defendants in the "Nardaran case" as political prisoners. Subsequently, some of the convicts  were released on pardon and the end of their term.

Mirsaleh Seyidov, deputy head of the Azerbaijani Penitentiary Service, received Leyla Ismailzade, the wife of the leader of the Muslim Unity movement, Taleh Bagirzade, and Agali Yakhyaev, a member of the board of this movement, Ismailzade said today.

"Finally, today there was a reaction to our appeals to the Penitentiary Service due to the fact that despite Taleh's hunger strike, he has not been allowed to call home for the fifth day already. We were invited to a meeting with Mirsalekh Seyidov. During the meeting, he called the head of colony No. 12. He confirmed that Taleh was on a hunger strike. According to the head of the colony, "he is in good health" and he is under medical supervision," she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The head of the colony also said that his deputy did not want to offend Taleh, Ismailzade noted, “They say there was a 'misunderstanding' in care, and did not insult family members at all," Ismailzade told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Penitentiary Service reported that Bagirzade himself refuses to call home.

"According to them, Taleh does not call and in this way protests against the fact that his radio was taken away. Mirsaleh Seyidov promised to resolve the issue with the radio and also provide Taleh with an extraordinary opportunity to call today. But it was already evening, he did not call. We hope that will call tomorrow. In any case, until Taleh calls himself, we, the members of his family, will assume that he continues the hunger strike. Taleh told me that until he himself tells me about ending the hunger strike, do not trust other sources," she said. Ismailzade.

She stressed that the hunger strike has been going on for the seventh day.

Europe
Slovenia to receive 50 Syrian, Afghan refugees from Turkey
[EURACTIV] Or herpes...
Fifty refugees from Afghanistan and Syria will be moving from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
to Slovenia as part of a resettlement plan that will be finalised at the end of January, the government announced Thursday.

The 50 individuals are registered as refugees in Turkey and are recognised as refugees under Slovenian law, the Government Communications Office said.

The decision is "an expression of solidarity and the number is proportionate to the capabilities of the integration system," it said.

The project will be 75% funded by the EU’s Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund, from which Slovenia will receive €10,000 for each resettled person.

The EU has been promoting the resettlement and relocation of refugees in the framework of the Migration and Asylum Pact, and Slovenia has supported these efforts since "measures connected with permanent resettlement are one of the more important elements of the EU’s migration policy," the government said.

The decision came just days after Interior Minister Tatjana Bobnar, a vocal advocate of managed migrations, told a debate that resettlement schemes were a strategic instrument to promote safe and regulated migration channels.

"These programmes also deter people from making dangerous journeys, reducing the risks of smuggling and trafficking," she said.

The move also marks Slovenia’s return to the EU’s resettlement and relocation mechanism after the previous centre-right government pursued a more conservative migration policy focused on beefing up border controls and deterring migrants colonists from entering the country.

Blinken to headline annual J Street conference on Sunday
[IsraelTimes] US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will headline the annual conference of the dovish J Street Middle East lobby
...that should be “dovish”, because really they are anti-Israel, which is why so many Democrats and Progressives love them — it’s a way to attack Israel’s existence while with furrowed brow pretending to love the country...
on Sunday, the State Department confirms.

"We are deeply honored and excited that Secretary Blinken will be addressing this year’s J Street conference," J Street president Jeremy Ben-Ami says in a statement. "At a critical time for Israelis and Paleostinians and for the future of liberal democracy in the region and around the world, our movement is looking forward to hearing about these challenges from our nation’s top diplomat."

Also set to appear at the two-day confab are nearly a dozen progressive Democratic politicians, former Meretz MK Yair Golan and Israeli and Paleostinian civil society leaders.

A front man for Israeli Ambassador to the US Mike Herzog tells The Times of Israel that the envoy was invited to address the J Street conference as well but he will be unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict.

Previous Israeli governments led by Benjamin Netanyahu refused to engage with J Street, though the outgoing coalition that replaced him did host several delegations from the left-wing lobby over the past year.

India-Pakistan
US brands South Asian Al-Qaeda, TTP militants as global terrorists AFP
[Dawn] The United States on Thursday announced it was designating South Asian al-Qaeda and Pak Taliban
...Arabic for students...
leaders as terrorists, vowing action as alarms grow over Afghanistan.

The targeted gunnies including four leaders of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), a regional branch of the jihadist network, including its self-styled "emir" Osama Mehmood.

The United States also designated the number two of the Pak Taliban, Mufti Hazrat Deroji, also known as Qari Amjad, whose 15-year campaign of violence has stepped up since the Taliban seized control in neighboring Afghanistan last year.

US officials say Deroji has overseen operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, one of two border areas that have borne the brunt of violent mostly peaceful attacks.

The designations are "part of our relentless efforts to ensure that holy warriors do not use Afghanistan as a platform for international terrorism," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.

"We will continue to use all relevant tools to uphold our commitment to see to it that international holy warriors are not able to operate with impunity in Afghanistan," Blinken said.

The State Department and Treasury Department listed the four as Specially Designated Global Terrorists, making it a crime in the United States to engage in transactions with them and blocking any assets they have in the country.

Palestinian teens order Haredi man to kiss their feet, post on TikTok, are arrested
Peace equals submission to the Master Religion. Mark Twain wrote about similar nasty boys when he went round the world over a century ago.
[IsraelTimes] Judge extends remand of 14- and 16-year-olds charged with assault and issuing threats by an additional four days after incident in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Police arrested two Paleostinian teenagers who filmed themselves threatening an ultra-Orthodox man in Jerusalem’s Old City and ordering him to bend down on his knees and kiss one of their feet in a video that they later uploaded to TikTok.

The phenomenon of Paleostinians filming themselves assaulting or humiliating ultra-Orthodox residents sparked outrage and festivities last year, leading to several arrests. In one particularly viral video, a Paleostinian was filmed pouring hot coffee on an Orthodox man, leading to a two-year prison sentence.

The latest clip was captioned with the line "look at how he kisses his shoes" with a laughing emoji.

A police complaint was filed shortly after the video was uploaded and the 14 and 16-year-olds were arrested on Thursday and charged with assault and issuing threats.

A judge on Friday ordered the suspects’ remand extended by four more days.

Police said in a statement that it "will continue to fight the crimes of abuse, violence and humiliation and bring those involved to justice."

"Documenting illegal acts of this kind and spreading them on social media is even more serious, and the perpetrators knew that filming the act would only help the police gather evidence, locate those involved and quickly arrest them," police said.

#1  Kill them in custody. Epstein them. Say they were 'discovered dead' in their cells. Or report that one of them is having severe headaches and has to be operated upon to save his life. And make him a drooling idiot, remove part of his frontal lobe.

Olde Tyme Religion
Make them convert to Islam and if they refuse let them pay jizya says Qatari professor
[OneIndia] An Islamic Studies professor at Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, Dr. Shafi al-Hajri said war is the third and last step in propagating Islam. Speaking with Rayyan TV (Qatar) on November 25, he said that individuals must be invited to Islam or made to pay the jizya poll tax in order to be protected and those who resist should be fought mercilessly.

"Fighting is the third stage of spreading da'wa. First, we call people to Allah, and if they accept, then they will have the same duties and rights as we have. If they refuse then they have to pay the jizya poll tax," he also said.

They have to pay the jizya poll tax in order to receive protection from others. The third stage is fighting them if they refuse, he added.

Jizya is a tax paid by non-Moslems as a protection tax to the Islamic dispensation ruling the territory. Hindus, it may be recalled were humiliated by the Moslem jizya collectors in India at the time of the Islamic rule. While paying the jizya, the Hindus had to lower their eyes, bow down and even let the Moslem official spit on them.

The failure to pay this tax would render the vow of protection of a non-believer's property null and void, leaving the protected non-believer or Dhimmi with the option to covert, enslavement, death or incarceration.

QATAR AND ISLAMIC PREACHING:
Qatar has been under fire for a number of methods being used to convert visitors to Islam during the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Katara Cultural Village Mosque in Doha, the capital of Qatar has become a hotspot for the proselytization of the non-Moslems visitors.

At the Mosque multilingual male and female preachers explain Islam and the tolerance preached by the religion to others. Visitors are also being encouraged to watch electronic boards on Islam which are on display in 30 different languages. Books too are being distributed among visitors which speak about the greatness and importance of Islam.

Qatar's Ministry of Awaqf and Islamic Affairs has also erected a pavilion outside the venue of the 2022 FIFA World Cup where visitors are being introduced to Islam and its preachings.

Recently it was reported that radical Islamic preacher, Zakir Naik
Indian Islamic preacher, founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation, which doesn't rely very heavily on the scientific method. He is also the founder of the oxymoronic Peace TV channel through which he reaches 200 million viewers. He has been called an authority on comparative religion and the most influential Salafi ideologue in India, though usually by himself. Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a physician. His preaching is currently banned in India, Bangladesh, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Antarctica. He is currently holed up in Malaysia, where he's not banned...
who is wanted for financial frauds and other crimes in India reached Qatar to preach Islam. A video from 2016 too went viral where he is seen converting people to Islam in Qatar.

#2  Next time include the Jizya into your World Cup package up front. There is no way I am paying ex post facto Jizya for some mediocre military bases were our soldiers had to burn their own poop. Hopefully, in those days, the wind was blowing toward your classroom and you inhaled a healthy dose of diesel immolated infidel excrement. See you in the next round, oh wait, your country was eliminated like your Iranian ball-kneeing brothers.

#3  Western economies already are paying jizya when they send tranches to the global ummah. It's just that currently they have to be swindled into it. But that's exactly why moslem representation exists in your polities.

A typical conversation in a south asian moslem household can often refer to the white christian societies as 'useful idiots paying for their own destruction inshallah. Today they're giving aid, so we let them live. Tomorrow they'll pay the same as jizya.'

Even after eight times, Lebanese parliament cannot agree on election of new president
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The members of the Lebanese parliament failed for the eighth time in electing a new president for the country on Thursday.

The eighth session of the Lebanese parliament was held to elect the president of this country, while the politicians failed again to elect a president similar to the previous seven sessions, according to Lebanese media

According to this report, the results of the Lebanese representatives’ votes for the election of the president of this country are as follows:
The MP Michel Moawad got 37 votes against 52 white ballot papers and 9 votes for Essam Khalifa. The presidential candidate needs to secure the votes of two-thirds of the MPs in the 128-seat parliament in the first round of voting.

At the end of the session, the parliament speaker Nabih Knobby Berri

said that the parliament will convene again to elect the president next Thursday.
