Hershey's not for sale anymore...
The residents of Hershey, Pennsylvania, were today celebrating a sweet victory after the charitable trust that controls Hershey Foods, the maker of the iconic chocolate bar, buckled to local opposition and called off the sale of the company.
Chocolate's on me today...!

Calling Islam stupid lands author in court
Michel Houellebecq, whose new novel Platform was released in Britain this month, appeared in a Paris court yesterday charged with inciting religious and racial hatred in an interview about the book, in which he dismissed Islam as "stupid".
Well, that's pretty... uh... dumb.
The charges, based on a complaint by the Islamic authorities in Lyon and Paris, are being challenged by a group of best-selling authors led by Philippe Sollers and Régine Desforges who have condemned the trail as an attack on freedom of speech.
"Duh... Just cuz we drool and say 'duh' alla time don't mean we're stoopid... And lotsa people that don't wear turbans is stoopid, too..."
Next month the court will hear a complaint by Islamic leaders against the Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci for describing Muslims as "a billion rats".
"Duh! We ain't no rats! Nope. Nope. We ain't go no tails!"

#1  Look at what’s happening to our civil liberties. Our precious first amendment has been under attack even before 9/11, thanks to the Bush administration and its evil henchman, Ashcroft. That citizens in Paris, Lyons, and other Illinois towns -- we’re talking heartland of America - can be brought to court is beyond belief.

Wait a minute, this ain’t Illinois, it’s France!

Never mind.

#2  Actually Oriana has it wrong. Islam is a form of mass psychosis.

Sick Nazi Collaborator Excused From French Prison

(2002-09-18) -- A Nazi collaborator, who shipped 1,560 Jews to Auschwitz during World War II, was released from prison today after presenting a note from his mother that he was not feeling well.

"Maurice is a bit under the weather," the note read, "please send him home from prison, so I can take care of him properly."

The note, scrawled in a shakey hand, was signed "Madame Papon," apparently the mother of the 92-year-old inmate. French authorities agreed it was "cruel to detain a sick man, especially when his Mamma is so worried about him."

Papon had successfully avoided trial for crimes against humanity for 58 years while serving in French government jobs. He is now resting comfortably in his family villa in the town of Gretz-Armainvilliers east of Paris.

Afghanistan
Bad Guys: Operation in Kunar was a flop...
PESHAWAR (AZZAM):Recent operations carried out over the last five days by American troops in Kunar, against Al-Qaida, Taliban and Hezb-e-Islami (Hekmatyar forces) have failed. The US troops destroyed five former Mujahideen bases in Darra Mengal and raided a well known Afghan Mujahideen Commander Haji Arif's house in Dangam, claiming to have recovered huge quantities of ammunition from there. The US Commandos also raided one of the houses of a commander of Hekmatyar, but they did not find anything there. The American troops returned back to their bases after five days of failure.
So why was it a failure? No shootouts? Or only little ones? Sounds like they beat up the base a little, and probably picked up some intel pieces. It's significant that the Azzam "reporters" are now grouping the Hezbers with the al-Qaeda and Taliban.

#1  "Azzam?" Those clowns were reporting huge numbers of American deaths, as the Taleban was being routed last Fall. Recently, they wrote of Sheik Azzam's accounts of "scorpion" and "bird" attacks against the occupiers, when the Islamists took on the Soviets (everybody lost that one).

Mullah Malang nabbed in Kandahar...
Afghan authorities in Kandahar have arrested a senior Taliban official and three of his aides. Mullah Sher Mohammad Malang, the governor of the southwestern province of Nimruz during Taliban rule, and his aides were caught in a raid on a mosque in Kandahar city last week. All four had been handed over to U.S. forces in Kandahar.
Cheeze. Ain't life tough? One day it's the best mutton, doe-eyed serving wenches, and "off with his head." The next, you're explaining to a bored-looking sergeant from Topeka that you never really supported the regime in your heart...
Thanx to Steve, as usual...

Axis of Evil
Iran to shakeup admin culture... Right.
Iran's interior minister has announced plans to "decentralise decision-making powers" and shake-up the Islamic republic's unwieldy administrative culture. Abdolvahed Mussavi-Lari was quoted as saying his ministry would soon present to parliament a bill that would provide more say to local officials, who currently have to refer most decisions to Tehran.
Where they're examined for all angles for their religious implications...
"This law shows the government's willingness to give more powers to local councils, elected local officials and those in charge of the different regions," he said. He did not elaborate on the details of the plan.
That implies there aren't any...
Local officials in Iran's 28 provinces exercise only limited powers under a cumbersome administrative system inherited from the former imperial regime.
That's because the Medes and the Persians learned early on to keep a close eye on the satraps. The current class of rulers is just as jealous of their power...

Europe
French coppers nab two ETA snuffies...
Police in France have arrested a couple in Bordeaux suspected of being two of the most senior figures in the Basque terrorist group Eta. Juan Antonio Olarra and Ainhoa Mujika, who are alleged to be jointly responsible for armed strategy and ordering and coordinating attacks in Spain, were arrested outside a supermarket, together with an unnamed French woman. The two were armed, but no shots were fired, the police said.
"You'll never take me alive, coppers! Well, hokay, just this once..."
Eta is looking increasingly weak, given the success of the French and Spanish police in arresting 139 alleged members and supporters so far this year. It has killed only three people since January, including a girl of six caught by a bomb in Santa Pola on the south-east coast. In its 30-year fight for a separate state it has killed about 800.
"Yasss... I'm afraid our fourth quarter projections are down again, and we may have to revise our anticipated corpse count for first quarter of next year..."

India-Pakistan
Bad Guys admit it's Ramzi...
Our sources have confirmed the arrest of the Mujahid Ramzi Bin Al-Sheebah in Karachi. Pakistan authorities announced his arrest a few days ago, but the Jehad Online web-site later refuted the claim due to some discrepancy in the incoming news reports. Pakistani's Interior Minister, Moinudeen Haider, announced that Ramzi is currently undergoing interrogation by Pakistani and American officials and then he would swiftly be handed over to the United States. Strangely, Haider said that the reason for the handing over was that Ramzi had not committed any crimes in Pakistan so he would be handed over to whoever asked for him. If Ramzi has not committed any crimes in Pakistan, it begs the question, why then did Pakistani forces fight so vigorously and endure injuries in a four-hour gun battle, whilst attempting
to arrest him?
Probably because he's a terrorist. I'm kinda surprised. I thought this little bit of denial would go on for months and months...
As for the circumstances that led to his arrest, it is clear that America cannot lay a finger on any Muslim in any Muslim country without the support, assistance and help from 'Muslim' hypocrites in that country. In this case, there would have been some so-called 'Muslims' who would have tipped off the authorities of the presence of Arabs in their neighbourhoods.
Well, that's understandable. They're always fighting with each other, cops there every other night, and their kids are absolutely undisciplined. As soon as they show up, the property values start to drop...
Some other so-called 'Muslims' would have carried out the surveillance and then others would have raided the premises, fighting for their lives as if they were fighting for the Lord. The Martyred Sheikh Abdullah Azzam said, "We Muslims can never be defeated by others. Instead, we are defeated only by our ownselves."
Oh, sure you can be defeated by others. Wanna see?
As for the status of those so-called 'Muslims' who knowingly assist the disbelievers against the believers, it is very clear according to all the divine texts and opinions of both classical and contemporary scholars, that all such individuals are outside the fold of Islam and have apostasised from the religion, regardless of their excuses or reasonings for assisting the disbelievers against the believers and regardless of their amount of prayers and acts of worship. Every so-called 'Muslim' who assists the disbelievers against the believers, even with a silent hand-gesture or signal, is an apostate whose Muslim wife is no longer lawful for him, there is no inheritance for his children (as Muslim children cannot inherit from an apostate parent) and he cannot be prayed over by the Muslims or buried with them if he dies in that state.
"Screw with us, by Gawd, and y'r goin' to hell, and yer family with ya!"
The whole nation of Pakistan is guilty before the Lord of the Worlds, for betraying these Mujahideen. It is incorrect to blame only the leaders and government, for the armed forces, Police, intelligence and media all comprise ordinary Pakistanis from ordinary walks of life. Those who tipped off the Pakistani authorities were not Pakistani leaders or ministers or military officers, but ordinary Pakistanis. When a nation allows its leaders to fight Islam, it is only a matter of time before Allah's punishment comes to that nation, either in the form of natural disasters, or worse, by Allah taking away Islam from that country as He did with Turkey after the people of Turkey supported Kamal Ataturk in destroying Islam in Turkey.
Guess Pakland's toast, then. Never liked them, anyway...
Two other companions of Ramzi Bin Al-Sheebah, from Hamburg, are still at large, as is the Kuwaiti, Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, who was not killed in the shootouts last week as was claimed by the Pakistani officials.
We'll have to wait and see on that one. This is the same bunch who was saying earlier that it wasn't Ramzi they had in custody...

#1  Q: If Kemal & his bunch destroy Islam in Turkey, how can Allah take it away?
A: Enough of that! Logic is un-Islamic, and so is asking questions!Stone him!

Gunnies shoot up Srinagar Times editor...
Editor of a leading Urdu daily newspaper, Srinagar Times, Sofi Ghulam Muhammed, today escaped an attempt on his life when unidentified gunmen entered his house and opened fire, injuring him and his personal security officer. Sofi sustained a bullet injury in his hand and was rushed to the bone and joints hospital where his condition was described as stable.
The gunnies hosed it. Good for Sofi!
According to Sofi’s brother and noted cartoonist, Bashir Ahmad Bashir, three unidentified assailants armed with pistols approached the guards posted outside his residence-cum-office. While two of them stayed outside, one came in and sought to meet Sofi. On being refused entry, the gunmn went out and soon all the three entered the premises. "The moment one of them entered the chamber of Sofi and took an aim at him, Sofi tried to resist and in the process he received a gunshot on his hand," Bashir said.
Fought the bastards, did he? Good man!
The assailants opened fire on the PSO, Ali Mohammed, also causing injuries to his legs. On hearing three gunshot sounds, the family thought firing had taken place nearby. On coming out, they saw the gunmen running away. Sofi and his PSO were immediately rushed to the hospital. Bashir said Sofi was discharged late in the evening and was at his home.
"How do I know what they looked like? I only saw their backs!"
The editor has been targeted by gunmen several times in the past following which the government provided him security. The governor, G C Saxena, described the attack as "a dastardly act of militants aimed at intimidating the press for toeing their line instead of reporting and commenting fairly and objectively." He thanked God that the injury was not serious.

Hizb denies Advani’s charge
Hizbul Mujahideen today refuted the deputy prime minister, L K Advani’s statement in which he had attributed to the group’s supremo, Syed Salahuddin, announcement of a reward of Rs 40 lakh for killing of chief minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, and his son, Omar Abdullah, and Rs 10 lakh for every contestant in the elections. In a statement, a Hizb spokesman quoted the group’s operational commander and Salar-e-Aala, Saif-ul-Islam, as saying Advani’s statement was untrue and fabricated and as an attempt to bolster the chief minister’s falling stock among the people. Islam said the Hizb did not believe in killing politicians and its policy on that was absolutely clear. The Salar-e-Aala said Advani was frustrated by the poll boycott of Kashmiri people and to divert world attention away from defeat used the propaganda tool. He congratulated Kashmiri people on the total boycott of elections which, he said, had proved that they wanted to get rid of India at any cost. He urged international community to prevail upon India to hold plebiscite in Kashmir.
"Any cost" that includes Salahuddin's snuffy corps is pretty daggone steep...

Perv sez al-Qaeda's smashed...
President General Pervez Musharraf said yesterday that the arrest of the suspected Al Qaida members has smashed the backbone of this shadowy group, a day after Al Qaida suspect Ramzi bin Al Shaibah and four others were flown out of the country in U.S. custody, and in a major breakthrough, one of the Al Qaida suspects arrested along with Ramzi bin Al Shaibah was identified as the killer of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
I hate it when people say things like that. It means that next week the Bad Guys are gonna get in a bite on our collective backside and it's gonna hurt. They aren't going to be "smashed" until the Pope visits Mecca to have cigars and ham sandwiches, and maybe a couple glasses of Chianti, with the Imam of the Grand Mosque.

US Consulate bomb suspect arrested
Pakistani police have arrested six men in Karachi, one of whom is suspected of involvement in suicide bomb attacks in the city. Sharib Zubair was held by the police after a raid on a house in Karachi.
"Whoo, boy! Does it stink in here! Whoops! There's another mujahid! Stick 'em up! What's your name, little fellow?"
Police say he is wanted in connection with attacks outside the US Consulate in Karachi on 14 June and the Sheraton Hotel in the city on 8 May. Sharib is believed to belong to the Harkat-ul Mujahideen al-Alaami which officials say is an offshoot of the Harkat-ul Mujahideen, one of the main guerrilla groups fighting Indian rule in the disputed region of Kashmir.
Probably also known as al-Qanoon...

Mubarak's kid gets a job...
The Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, has appointed his son, Gamal, to a leading position in the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP). Gamal Mubarak has been made the party's political secretary, with responsibility for developing its thinking on a range of issues. The president has repeatedly denied that he is grooming his son to succeed him.
And nobody believes him...

Middle East
First boomer in a month...
A Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up at a bus stop in the Arab-Israeli village of Umm al-Fahm in northern Israel on Wednesday, wounding several people. Army radio said the bomber apparently detonated his explosives prematurely when he saw police approaching him. It was the first suicide bombing in more than a month.
Too bad any real people were hurt. But the important part is that he's dead, roasting in hell for eternity, while demons poke him periodically with pitchforks. (Even agnostics can hope, y'know!) There's no recidivism when it comes to suicide booming.

Followup: CNN sez...

One Israeli was killed and two others were wounded Wednesday when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a bus stop near the West Bank town of Umm el-Fahm, Israeli ambulance services said.
Damn. I was hoping there were no real people hurt seriously.

Southeast Asia
MILF calls CIA's report ridiculous
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has vehemently denied playing host to any member of Osama Bin Laden's Al-Qaeda group, saying it has "never trained any foreigner inside Camp Abubakar", its largest military facility. "All those admitted here were legitimate members of the MILF and absolutely there were no foreigners in our roster," said Sammy Al-Mansoor, deputy chief of staff of the MILF.
"We only accept members of the Ummah... and paying guests..."
The MILF was reacting to the report by the US' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) featured in the Time magazine in its latest edition. According to the report, Omar Al-Faruq, 31, had confessed that he was "al-Qaeda's senior representative" in Southeast Asia and that he was under instruction by senior al-Qaeda operatives to "plan large-scale attacks against US interests in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and other states in the region." In 1995, Faruq, the report added, was able to reach Camp Abubakar where he was trained as a "terrorist".
"Terrorists," even without the scare quotes, are trained to "kill people," sometimes by "chopping their heads off." That leaves innocent people "dead."
