(*shrug*)- looks like a prudent bit of 'what-if' planning, which heavily involves the National Guards. I don't know what it looks like to a foreign observer.

The article is timely. I have seen posts on such activity in Russia and of course the North Koreans.
With the current administration anything is possible. Executive order is the most likely should events become difficult. Many people I have come into contact with are in difficult times. Not answering their phone. Not paying on their bills. Repo the truck- go ahead. This is real world current information. Gas just turned on this week to heat a young families home. Cash in retirements just to maintain standard of living. These are people who have jobs. The Asian Times, Pakistan News, and these sources reflect concern that maybe things aren't so secure here. The frog story again. Put a frog in boiling water and he jumps out. Put a frog in water then heat to boiling and he dies. I can see no improvement in what this administration has done rather they have made things worse. Store unit volumes are down and unit prices are up. 10% to 14% ($40,000)declines in retail weekly business compared to last year at this time.Buyouts, and firings, to reduce one expense they can control. No Christmas extra help! that's never happened in my lifetime. Small store owners wonder how long they will be in business as store traffic drops.
We are told everything is fine in our media.
It's not and hasn't been for quite some time.
What if? maybe we will need order. It should be planned for and implemented if need be. We may have no choice.

Do not expect the regular military to violate the Posse Comitatus Act, or the NG to obey illegal orders. Fragging has a long and illustrious history in the US, it even precedes the establishment of the country, in that colonial troops did "arrange" the untimely departure of bad officers.

Also remember that there is an international law dealing with illegal orders, suppression of the public, and penalties for obeying same. It is the Nuremberg Standard, taken from the Nuremberg Trials.

I am generally an eternal optimist. I have always and will always respect our law enforcement and military. I have had the pleasure of working and associating with them as well. I understand from those more informed than myself that our government is capable of many things. I remember the riots. The events will have to be managed. The problem now is that populations are so segregated by choice. The melting pot is no more.
Just a traffic stop and you may have a person that can't speak English. Some control will be necessary or massive disruptions will occur. I know run to the hills?. People are already there.
