Count Vice President Biden among those excited to see Rep. Gabrielle Giffords at the U.S. Capitol yesterday.
Biden, who got advance notice from Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi that Giffords would show up, told reporters that the Arizona Democrat called him "Joe" when she saw him.
"I said, 'Now we're both members of the Cracked Head Club,' " Biden is quoted as saying in The Boston Globe.
Giffords was shot in the head Jan. 8 in a rampage during one of her constituent events in Tucson. Six people died.
The vice president has survived two craniotomies to remove brain aneurysms. His comment to Giffords yesterday was reported by The Washington Post, ABC News and others.

For once I find Joe's humor actually humorous, in a dark way. It now seems possible that Ms. Giffords suffered less brain damage in her episode than Slow Joe did in his.

Perhaps she was referring to Pelosiaying she wouldn't decide whether to support the deal until she had read the bill. Now THAT took guts or chutzpah or something.
#7
Pelosi was not going to vote on the bill until she read it. So much like her stance on ObamaCare. "You have to pass it to find out what's in it." What a hypocrite. By the way she voted for the bill--did anyone ever doubt it.
Boehner probably didn't give a rat's @ss what Pelosi did. And neither did Obama.

Yeah, she's gutsy and a skilled negotiator, and she held her ground and refused to compromise - not like those hard-headed conservative bozos that wouldn't compromise.
Call me cynical.

ION FREEREPUBLIC > [US = US-World]GOVT WILL HAVE NO AMMUNITION TO COUNTER NEXT MARKET COLLAPSE.

* PEOPLE'S DAILY FORUM > PRESIDENT OBAMA'S LOST PLEDGE TO LATINOS. Increased frequency of Deportations while Hispanic-favored immigration reforms are stalled.

After the House of Representatives passed the bill to extend the debt limit, it adjourned for the summer, but not before Republicans took advantage of a procedural move that will help block President Obama from making recess appointments during the upcoming break.
While the House will be adjourned, it will continue to hold so-called "pro forma" sessions throughout August. Though it's the Senate that must confirm presidential appointments, under the U.S. Constitution, it cannot adjourn for more than three days without the approval of the House. Therefore, the House has maintained the ability to prevent the Senate from going into full recess, effectively blocking Obama from making recess appointments.
When Democrats took over Congress in 2007, Senate Majority Leader Reid blocked Bush from making any recess appointments by holding such sessions, which could last as little as a few seconds, with the clerk opening the chamber and a Senator striking a gavel to close it.
Reid also agreed to hold "pro forma" sessions last fall during while Senators were out campaigning, and over Memorial Day break.
While the Constitution specifies no minimum number of days required for a recess appointment, a March 2010 Congressional Research Service report referenced a Clinton-era Justice Department brief suggesting it was more than three days.
The CRS report also noted that "(a)lthough President Theodore Roosevelt once made recess appointments during an intra-session recess of less than one day, the shortest recess during which appointments have been made over the past 20 years was 10 days."

Not gridlock at all! Presidents have been increasing their power far too long, and with recess appointments, at the expense of congress. And Obama has a laundry list of radicals he would love to quietly appoint without any public gaze before the senate.
So by blocking recess appointments, the president, whoever it is, is forced to go through the constitutional process. That isn't gridlock, that is good.
Vice President Joe Biden joined House Democrats in lashing tea party Republicans Monday, accusing them of having acted like terrorists in the fight over raising the nations debt limit, according to several sources in the room. This is from a party who would never call those who kidnap civilians, hang 8-year-old boys, and burn and kill teachers 'terrorists'. Peferring to call them 'Activists'....
Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour, closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting.
We have negotiated with terrorists, an angry Doyle said, according to sources in the room. This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money. And the majority of americans support them and say 'Enough spending'.
Biden, driven by his Democratic allies misgivings about the debt-limit deal, responded: They have acted like terrorists. And who had been threatening to cut off senior's Social Security checks? Checks they have paid into for their entire lives? Here's a hint - he has a D after his name.
Bidens office initially declined to comment about what the vice president said inside the closed-door session, but after POLITICO published the remarks, spokeswoman Kendra Barkoff said: The word was used by several members of Congress. The vice president does not believe its an appropriate term in political discourse.
Biden later denied he used that term in an interview with CBS.
I did not use the terrorism word, Biden told CBS Evening News anchor and managing editor Scott Pelley.
Earlier in the day, Biden told Senate Democrats that Republican leaders have guns to their heads in trying to negotiate deals. Dear Vice President Joe Biden: That's the way a republic is supposed to work ya maroon (moron). Too bad.

I imagine to Joe, Tea Partiers are just as frightning as terrorists.

Bobby, probably even more frightening. After all, the Secret Service will keep him safe from terrorists. But the Tea Party types can vote him out of office.

I liken Biden to a morning bowel movement (with no roughage).

Biden can be written off an the resident administration idiot because there is absolutely no connection between his brain (given that there is a brain in his cranium) and his mouth.

A Tea Party person snarked, "Are the Democrats now getting their talking points from North Korea?"
The funny thing is both that Joe came out later to half disavow what he said, in that he didn't say Tea Party and terrorist in the same sentence, or something. But by then, a whole slew of lefty MSM talking heads took up the talking point equating the Tea Party with terrorists.
(Zakaria has been a denizen at both Newsweek, until they folded, and is now at Time. The rumors that he was the little Indian catamite boy Hadji in Jonny Quest are likely not true.)

"This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money."
Representative Doyle is not a Rantburg regular and appears to be a Democratic moron, but I say that remark is Snark of the Day material. (we will let him slide on subject/verb agreement)

When you cannot defeat your adversary by reasoned discourse, then you make a personal attack.

AP, exactly what I was gonna say. The donks these days are full of hyperbole but entirely lacking in civil, well reasoned discourse. I always figured that the first person to lose his temper loses the argument. Such a person will resort to screaming and yelling when he or she can't come up something logical to say. These people have lost their temper. It sounds as if they've lost their minds. The questions is: will the American people get it?

It used to be that it was the party OUT of power that was insane. Maybe the democrats can see the writing on the wall.

Someone made a very wise comment on this sort of language 151 years ago:
Under all these circumstances, do you really feel yourselves justified to break up this Government unless such a court decision as yours is, shall be at once submitted to as a conclusive and final rule of political action? But you will not abide the election of a Republican president! In that supposed event, you say, you will destroy the Union; and then, you say, the great crime of having destroyed it will be upon us! That is cool. A highwayman holds a pistol to my ear, and mutters through his teeth, Stand and deliver, or I shall kill you, and then you will be a murderer!

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
