Gromky, is that a photo of the empennage of the plane in question? If so, that is one seriously effed-up elevator and would perfectly explain the pilot's loss of control.
B-17, G-TBM (VFR ONLY).
ALL MAKES AND MODELS OF SINGLE AND MULTI ENGINE PISTON POWERED AUTHORIZED AIRCRAFT. (This is the big one. If the FAA gives you this type rating, to fly ANYTHING that has one or two piston engines, you are in a very elite class of pilot. Very few pilots get this rating. There might be more guys playing quarterback in the NFL than pilots that have this rating.)

TOKYO A strong 6.6-magnitude undersea quake and a series of aftershocks hit off the coast of Japans Honshu island Saturday, not far from the area ravaged by a huge March quake and tsunami, geologists said. mThere were no immediate reports of damage or casualties and no widespread tsunami warning, although the initial earthquake was followed by five more quakes of magnitude five or above, one of them measuring 6.2.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the first, 36.2-kilometre (22.6-mile) deep quake hit 108 kilometres east-south-east of the coastal town of Hachinohe, 574 kilometres from Tokyo, at 4:26 am (1926 GMT Friday).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that no destructive widespread tsunami risk exists based on historical earthquake and tsunami data.
But it said that quakes of this size sometimes generate local tsunamis. Authorities in the region of the epicentre should be aware of this, the centre said in a statement.
It said the initial quake jolted Iwate prefecture, an area badly hit by the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami on March 11 that left almost 20,000 dead or missing and sparked the worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl. The 6.6-magnitude quake was followed by two smaller magnitude-five tremors within an hour in the same area east of Hachinohe.
The fourth quake struck at 7:08 am (2108 GMT Friday), with a magnitude of 6.2 at a depth of 20.2 kilometres, 137 kilometres east-south-east of Hachinohe. Again, no widespread tsunami warning was issued.
During the next two hours there were two more magnitude-five tremors nearby, the second one with its epicentre only five kilometres deep, the USGS said.

Procopius2k, the US is a modern country. That is, we use the Fed Funds wire to transfer our quantitatively eased currency from place to place.

That wasn't about currency transfers, it was about what we'll have to carry after all those transfers go down the hole dragging everyone's economies with them.
European divisiveness? Who knew? Financial tranaction tax surfaces once again. Few people know more about infighting than an Obama administration figure...

Danger Will Robinson! The Swedes are upset. Nasa has informed them that the 6.5 ton satellite is coming home in their general area. Hold Please.
"A 20-year-old satellite that has fallen out of orbit is expected to plunge back to Earth sometime next week and its projected landfall could strike Sweden, according to NASA experts".
WHEN former Marine Sg. Dakota Meyer joined President Barack Obama for a beer on the White House patio this week, the Medal of Honor recipient was treated to a homemade brew, a White House food blog said today.
Obama Foodorama, a blog that describes itself as "The Blog of Record About White House Food Initiatives," said the beer is known as White House Honey Blonde Ale and is made with equipment purchased out of the Obama's own pocket, according to a spokeswoman for First Lady Michelle Obama.
The President and Mrs Obama first served about 80 bottles of White House brew to guests attending a Super Bowl party earlier this year.
The honey ale's signature ingredient is a pound of honey harvested from the White House beehive, according to the blog. The First Family's chefs have also brewed up a honey porter.
White House curator Bill Allman said the Obamas are the first to make a brew at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
"We have no record of beer brewing at the White House," Mr Allman told Obama Foodorama, although the blog does say George Washington was known to brew his own in pre-White House days at Mount Vernon.

Tusker, brewed by the Kenya Breweries Limited, is the most popular beer in Kenya. Popularly known as "Keroro" beer, Tusker is a source of Kenyan pride highlighted in the late 1990s, where East African Breweries played the patriotic card to win a marketing war against Castle Breweries, a subsidiary of international brewing giant SABMiller.

"No-one should be put to death based on the colour of his or her skin," Kate Black, one of Buck's attorneys said after the decision.
Ummm no. He's being put to death because he's a cockroach with no human feelings who killed at least two other people. Put this POS down

The death penalty is carried out daily in our streets, our neighborhoods, our businesses upon innocents without the joys of due process. We lock our windows and doors at night, we avoid traveling to or through certain neighborhoods of our cities, and we worry when the sun goes down where our children are because the threat of the death penalty does alter our behavior. All we've done is shift where that penalty is carried out, but it is carried out.
"This week, Houstonian Duane Buck is scheduled for execution, partly based on testimony by Conroe psychologist Dr. Walter Quijano. Ironically, Quijano was called to the witness stand by defense attorneys for Buck."
So, the defense can call a witness that can so prejudice a sentencing hearing, that their client can get a stay on his execution?
Very crafty. Had the defense lawyers pulled such a scheme themselves, it would have been attorney misconduct. But because it was done by their "hired gun" psychologist, who *cannot* be charged with misconduct, if he can prove what he said, which he can, their client "wins" a stay.
This would be a flawless scheme, if he waited until cross examination to make the prejudicial statement.
It gets worse:
"Quijano gave similar testimony in six other cases, which, along with Buck's, were all red-flagged in 2000 by then-Attorney General John Cornyn. Rather than defend the cases on appeal, an appalled Cornyn conceded error, clearing the way for new trials for six of the seven."
So the prosecution knew that this psychologist had bollixed up SIX other death penalty cases that were retried, but did not retry Buck's case, saying that it was an inconsequential error.
