Interim Jubba militia standoff with Al-Shabaab in Kismayo
Interim Jubba Administration soldiers and Al-Shabaab terrorist insurgents have been reported to have engaged in a intense physical conflict in Kismayo, provincial capital of Lower Jubba.

Local residents say Al-Shabaab initiated the fight after they attacked the soldiers that were conducting search sweeps in Kismayo’s 4 neighborhoods. News indicate that casualties and losses were incurred to both the Interim Jubba Administration forces and Al-Shabaab fighters.

There has been no official statement from Interim Jubba Administration officials or senior Al-Shabaab officers regarding the conflict last night in Kismayo.

Police arrest eight after attacks in Kenyan port city
MOMBASA, Kenya – Kenyan police arrested eight suspects on Monday in connection with an attack in the port city of Mombasa at the weekend that killed four people, a senior police officer said. Witnesses said gunmen went on a shooting rampage and scattered leaflets saying the attack was retribution for last month’s raid on Mpeketoni, a town about 300 km (180 miles) north of Mombasa along Kenya’s Indian Ocean coastline.

There have been a string of attacks along Kenya’s coast, most of them claimed by the Somali Islamist group al Shabaab, such as the Mpeketoni raid in mid-June. Analysts say a mix of local grievances and Islamist militancy have fuelled violence.

“We launched a manhunt for the suspects involved, because we had some information about them, and we have so far managed to arrest eight and are closing up on more,” Robert Kitur, Mombasa County Police Commander, told journalists.

He blamed the suspects for scattering the leaflets but dismissed the idea that the assault was a revenge attack, saying it was aimed at showing discord on the already volatile coast.

The Mpeketoni attacks, which killed 65 people, and others on the coast have stoked tensions between rival ethnic groups in a region which has been plagued by disputes over land ownership and complaints that central government has ignored problems.

Highlighting the challenge of securing the coast, police said they had arrested a suspected militant in Kwale, south of Mombasa, with a grenade and 78 rounds of ammunition. Police said an accomplice they had also been trailing escaped. Kenyan police imposed a curfew from Sunday evening on Lamu County, the region north of Mombasa where most of the recent spate of attacks took place, including Mpeketoni.

Residents were told to be indoors between 6.30 p.m. and 6.30 a.m. but this was amended on Monday to allow Muslims to continue their usual prayer schedule after sunset in the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Many of Kenya’s Muslims live on the coast.

#6  If they can get to Sudan and have in the past gotten to Uganda, granted with a C-130. With ISIS ruling eastern Syria and northern Iraq, there is no reason they can't get to Iran. They would not have to violate Jordan or Saudi airspace as the did when they hit the nuke plant in Iraq years ago. Good friend of mine worked a radar intercept site in Saudi - they don't do this stuff on their own. Anyway he and his mates was told to take the night off on June 7,1981.

Maybe all this Hamas crap is to prevent such an attack. .

Algeria, Tunisia co-ordinate security efforts
[MAGHAREBIA] The Algerian army on Saturday (July 19th) thwarted an attempt by two Tunisian murderous Moslems to cross the border overnight, Mosaique FM reported. Two jihadists driving an all-terrain vehicle tried to penetrate Algerian territory at El Tarf wilaya.

According to Tunisie Numerique, the Tunisian and Algerian armies agreed to collaborate on anti-terror operations to secure their joint border.

Some 14,000 soldiers will be deployed to track murderous Moslems in five major border areas, El Khabar reported.

Clashes between rival militias in Libya kill 47
[TIMESOFINDIA.INDIATIMES] Clashes between rival Libyan militias fighting for control of the international airport in the capital, Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, have killed 47 people over the past 24 hours, Libya's health ministry said.

The ministry said on its website late Sunday that the fighting also left 120 people maimed. It also said it had not yet received the full casualty report.

The weeklong battle over the airport is being waged by a powerful militia from the western city of Zintan, which controls the facility, and Islamist-led militias, including fighters from Misrata, east of Tripoli. The festivities resumed Sunday after cease-fire efforts failed.

Television footage broadcast Sunday showed a mortar shell striking a Libyan Arab Airlines plane and a column of black smoke billowing from inside the airport, which has been closed since last Monday.

Libya is witnessing one of its worst spasms of violence since the ouster of longtime dictator Muammar Qadaffy
... who had more funny outfits than Louis XIV...
in 2011. The rival militias, made up largely of former rebels, have forced a weeklong closure of gas stations and government offices.

In recent days, gunnies have attacked vehicles carrying money from the Central Bank to local banks, forcing their closure. The Central Bank had said banks would reopen Sunday, but then remained closed as the fighting resumed.

Libyan government officials and activists have increasingly been targeted in the violence. Unknown gunnies kidnapped two politicians in the western suburbs of Tripoli on Sunday, a parliament statement said, and urged the government to intervene to free them.

Last Thursday, a female politician in a liberal-leaning political bloc in the outgoing parliament, Fareha al-Barqawi, was killed in the eastern city of Darna. The motives behind the killing were not known, but such assassinations rampant in Libya over the past two years have been blamed on the militias, which successive governments have struggled to control.

In the past two days in Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city, gunnies killed an army officer while he was driving home in his car, and a former special forces officer was rubbed out in the downtown Salmani district.

The UN support mission in Libya said last week it was temporarily withdrawing its staff because of the deteriorating security situation.

have kidnapped the wife and two children of Alhaji Zaraye Mala Sheriff, a Councillor in Borno state who is reported to be a cousin of former Borno state, governor, Ali Modu Sheriff. A source told Daily Trust that the men stormed the Ngala town residence of the politician in the early hours of Friday July 18th.

"The holy warriors stormed the house of the councillor around 12:30am on Friday and asked the wife about her husband. They also asked her for the money he kept at home but she kept quiet. Luckily enough, Zaraye was at the other side of the house and when he heard the conversation, he fled," a source from Ngala said.

He said angered by her silence and the absence of their target, the sect members took her and her two children away.

"Up till now, nothing has been heard of the woman and her kids. We have not heard anything about the two businessmen either," he said. Two other politicians, Alhaji Annur Mohammed and Liman Alhaji Hussaini were also reportedly kidnapped by the sect men.

Meanwhile there are reports that Maiduguri metropolis and its environs have been without power in the last three weeks following the destruction of electricity installations around Damboa town, 85 kilometers away from the state capital.

Boko Haram kills more than 100

forces of Evil have killed more than 100 people and hoisted their black and white flag over a town left undefended by Nigeria's military, just 53 miles from the northeastern state capital of Maiduguri, a civil defense front man and a human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
advocate said yesterday.
Nigeria is not getting their money's worth from that military of theirs.
The military was passable against tribal war in the south. It's really good at staging coups, and it's just darned super in UN peacekeeping missions. But digging out and defeating a hardened terrorist force?
Hundreds of villagers in another northeast area, Askira Uba, are fleeing after receiving letters from the Islamic forces of Evil threatening to attack and take over their areas, front man Abbas Gava of the Nigerian Vigilante Group said.

"Nine major villages are on the run," he said.

Survivors said yesterday that snuffies fired rocket-propelled grenades and lobbed homemade bombs into homes, and then bumped off people as they tried to escape the fires in the attack on Damboa town launched before dawn Friday. Most of the town has burned down, they said.

A human rights advocate said the forces of Evil struck again as people were trying to bury the dead later Friday, and said the corpse count is probably much higher than 100. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to news hounds.

The only defense came from vigilantes armed with clubs and homemade rifles, Gava said.

The town had been under siege for two weeks since Boko Haram dislodged soldiers from a new tank battalion camp on its outskirts. It seemed that instead of offering protection, the camp drew the wrath of the hard boys.

The Defense Ministry had claimed to have repelled the attack and killed at least 50 snuffies for the loss of six soldiers including the commanding officer. But locals said many soldiers were killed and the military was driven from the base. They said the forces of Evil twice have ambushed military convoys trying to reach the base in the past week.

The gunnies had cut off access to the town from the south on Monday when they blew up a bridge further south. Damboa is on the main road south from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, and at a strategic crossroads for farmers to bring their produce to market.

Hundreds of thousands of farmers have been driven from their lands in the 5-year-old insurgency, and officials have been warning of imminent food shortages.

Both Nigeria's military and Boko Haram have been claiming victories on the battlefield in the rapidly spreading Islamic insurgency in Africa's most populous nation and biggest oil producer.

Boko Haram has attracted international condemnation for the abductions of more than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls who have been held in captivity for three months.

The snuffies have increased the number and deadliness of attacks this year, particularly in their stronghold in the northeast, though they also have detonated bombs as far away as Lagos, the commercial capital in the southwest. Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. published a report this week which said the insurgency has killed at least 2,053 civilians in an estimated 95 attacks during the first half of 2014. That compares to an estimated 3,600 people killed in the first four years of the insurgency.

Boko Haram wants to enforce an Islamic state in Nigeria though half the country's population of 170 million is Christian.

Boko Haram Erects Tollgates
[LEADERSHIP.NG] With most parts of northern and central Borno State under their control, gunnies of the Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
have been mounting tollgates on major international highways within the state where they collect fees from passengers and drivers who are lucky to be spared, eyewitnesses and government officials said.

Apart from collecting tolls from travellers, the gunnies would also screen every passenger, and any person who speaks Kanuri or found to be a resident of Maiduguri would be rubbed out, witnesses added.

In the last three weeks the gunnies had laid siege on the roads to Maff, Dikwa, Ngala and Gamboru, where they would ambush travellers and dispossess them of their goods. Most of their targets were vehicles conveying rice and sugar supplied by government to be delivered to villagers for their use during the ongoing Ramadan fasting.

The route from Maiduguri to Gamboru, a border town near Cameroon, is about 185km and it is usually busied by heavy trailer trucks ferrying various commercial commodities to and from Nigeria.

But that commercial engagement that has provided jobs to hundreds of young men and older ones has now been slowed down due to the incessant attack by the Boko Haram gunnies.

Modu Air, a truck driver, told newsmen in Maiduguri, "Only a few of us are now plying the road. Many of our colleagues have changed routes because of the attacks that occur on the roads every day. I have witnessed instances where some passengers were rubbed out either because they speak Kanuri and live in Maiduguri or because you come from one village where their members were killed or nabbed
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
by the vigilante."

Confirming the attacks on the highways, Hon. Idrissa Jidda, a member of the Borno State House of Assembly representing Gamboru-Ngala, said "the turbans have absolute control of the road since the past one month. No day passes without a case of attack along the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru road and, in most cases, innocent people are being killed".

#1  The tollgates have to be static, making them an ideal target for napalm from Navy jets. Please, please let Obumble give the Navy the green light. BH would totally lose it, but BHO isn't about to target blacks, or Islamists, his being both. I am so disgusted with the "leadership" of our great nation.

Thousands of Nigerians Flee Northeast Town After Boko Haram Raid
[BUSINESSWEEK] More than 15,000 people have fled their homes in northeastern Nigeria since an attack last week by suspected Islamist Lions of Islam that left at least 21 people dead, said an emergency official.

Residents are fleeing from Damboa and areas surrounding the town in fear for their lives, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, a front man for the National Emergency Management Agency in Borno state, told news hounds today in Maiduguri, the region's capital.

Nigerian security forces are struggling to contain a five-year insurgency by the Lion of Islam group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, which means "western education is a sin" in the local Hausa language.

The banner of the group, which is fighting to impose Islamic law on Africa's top oil producer, was hoisted in Damboa after the attack on July 18. The trading town, located about 85 kilometers (53 miles) outside Maiduguri, is under Boko Haram's control, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported today, citing a local vigilante leader it didn't identify.

Troops are preparing to "reverse current insecurity" in the Damboa area, Defense Ministry front man Major-General Chris Olukolade said today in an e-mailed statement.

"The Nigerian military will not concede any portion of this country to any such group" he said.

Four sentenced on terror charges in Kazakhstan
Four Kazakh citizens were given prison sentences on terror charges in southern Kazakhstan.

The Al-Farabi District Court in the city of Shymkent found three locals guilty of "participating in a terrorist group" and financially supporting the group's activities. They were sentenced to prison terms of eight and nine years. Another member was found guilty of illegal weapons possession and given five years in jail.

Investigators say the four men organized a terrorist group and between 2011 and 2013 had propagated extremist ideas while recruiting young Kazakhs to join illegal armed groups fighting in Syria.

Tsarnaev Friend Found Guilty of Conspiracy, Obstruction of Justice
A jury returned a split verdict today in the trial of Azamat Tazhayakov, friend of alleged Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Tazhayakov was found guilty on two of four counts of obstructing justice, both concerning the removal of Tsarnaev’s backpack. He was found not guilty of conspiring to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice with regard to the removal of Tsarnaev’s laptop.

Tazhayakov, 20, was accused of taking a backpack and a laptop from Tsarnaev’s dorm room at University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth at his request on April 18, 2013. Though photos of Tsarnaev had been released by the FBI at that time, he had not yet been identified by name.

The backpack, which contained fireworks with the gunpowder removed, was later found in a landfill. Tazhayakov maintained that it was their mutual friend Dias Kadyrbayev who removed backpack and the laptop. Tazhayakov’s lawyers said he was being prosecuted because he was friends with Tsarnaev, and did not know of Tsarnaev’s alleged involvement in the bombing when he went to his dorm room. The prosecution contended that Tazhayakov searched for Tsarnaev’s name on the Internet after the photos were released but before Tsarnaev had been identified. The defense called no witnesses during the trial.

#1  Surprise arrest announced today:
Feds: Man Who Gave Boston Marathon Bombing Suspects Gun That Killed MIT Officer Arrested
Federal prosecutors have filed charges against a Cambridge man who law enforcement authorities say gave the Boston Marathon bombing suspects the gun that was used to kill Massachusetts Institute of Technology Police Officer Sean Collier four days after the attacks on Boylston Street, reported NECN.

Stephen Silva, 21, had drug and firearms charges filed against him last week, but they were made public Tuesday, July 22.

Although the federal indictment does not mention the Collier shooting or the Tsarnaevs, law enforcement officials say Silva was the source of the gun used to kill Officer Collier. The federal indictment says Silva’s Ruger model 95 9mm pistol was the same kind of gun was used to kill Collier, federal officials have previously said.

Indian firing claims farmer's life in Sialkot
[DAWN] SIALKOT: A farmer was killed and four others, including three women, were maimed in unprovoked shelling by India in villages on the Sialkot Working Boundary in the small hours of Sunday.
Expect an Indian counterclaim and a gunfight in Poonch or someplace like that next week.
Pasrur Assistant Commissioner Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema told news hounds that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) fired several shells in Harpal, Thathi Khurd, Theekariyaal, Jarwal and Charwah villages when people were having their Sehri.

One of the shells hit the house of Mohammad Iqbal, 45, in Thathi Khurd, killing him on the spot.

Forty-five-year-old Zahida Ansar, wife of another farmer Mohammad Ansar, their daughter Rabia Ansar, 17, and son Nouman Ansar,19, and another woman Azra were maimed when shells struck their houses in Harpal.

Rescue 1122 officials took the injured to the Combine Military Hospital in Sialkot, where their condition is said to be critical.

"A civilian embraced martyrdom and four others were maimed when Indian BSF resorted to unprovoked firing in Charwah and Harpal sectors overnight and today," military officials said.

Pakistain Rangers effectively responded to the Indian firing, the official added.

The shelling by Indian forces continued for about two-and-a-half hours till 3.30am.

The Pasrur assistant commissioner said dozens of houses and cattle sheds were damaged and about half a dozen animals killed.

Officials of the Chenab Rangers said their prompt and effective response silenced the Indian guns.

The Indian shelling caused harassment and panic among the residents of border villages.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie ducked another tomato...
local MNA Chaudhry Armughan Subhani and MPA Chaudhry Tariq Akhtar Subhani strongly condemned the shelling and said Indian forces had targeted the civilian population.

It was the fifth incident of Indian shelling on Sialkot border villages over the past four days. On Wednesday, a farmer was maimed by the Indian shelling in Charwah sector.

Four women injured in Quetta acid attack
[DAWN] Four women were maimed when unknown persons threw acid on them in Quetta's Sariab area Monday and later fled, DawnNews reported.

Imran Qureshi, the Superintendent of Police, told Dawn that two armed motorcyclists threw acid on four women in Killi Kamalo area of Quetta's Sariab road.

The women were shifted to the burns ward of Bolan Medical Complex at death's door, he added.

According to Dr Hidayatullah, the women were targeted on their faces.

Qureshi said that the women were engaged in shopping at a popular shopping centre when they were targeted. The attackers sped away on their cycle of violence after launching the attack.

A huge contingent of police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel reached the site of incident as a probe into the attack went under way.

"My sister was shopping in the market when acid was thrown on her face", Abdul Jabbar, the brother of one of the victims told Dawn.

Like Abdul Jabbar, a large number of family members of the acid injured women were standing outside the Burns section of Bolan Medical Complex Hospital to inquire about the health condition of their loved ones.

"Why my sister was attacked, we have no dispute with someone", Jabbar said.

Police said the accused attacked the women in a crowded area where dozens of cosmetics shops are located. "They attacked women standing outside a shop", Imran Qureshi stated.

Through syringe, the accused sprayed acid on the faces of women, police said. The attack forced other women to flee and there was hue and cry after the tragic incident, Jabbar said.

"I strongly condemn the incident", the Minister told Dawnadding that all out efforts would be made to bring the perpetrators to book and justice would be done with the victims' families.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Iraq tribal fighters gain ground against ISIL in Nineveh

gunnies out of the Iraqi town of Sinjar in the northwestern province of Nineveh.

According to an unnamed tribal leader in the province, the fighters inflicted heavy losses on the ISIL forces of Evil during festivities on Monday.

He added that unity among tribes in Salahuddin and Nineveh provinces and the support of Iraqi air force have been the main factors in regaining control of areas occupied by the ISIL Takfiris.

The crisis in Iraq escalated after Takfiri ISIL forces of Evil took control of djinn-infested Mosul

The ISIL gunnies have announced a so-called caliphate in regions they have overrun in Iraq.

Soldiers of the Iraqi army, helped by tribal forces and volunteers, have been engaged in heavy fighting with the gunnies on different fronts and have so far been able to push back gunnies in several areas.

#1  Sinjar is west of Tel Afar, on the main road between Mosul and Syria. It is in a pocket of Yezidis (a Kurdish group that is non-muslim). The Peshmerga recently reinforced this area.

When they talk about tribal fighters, they are talking about the Adika and Alidina tribes (of Yezidis).

Children among ten killed in air strike north of Baghdad
[Pak Daily Times] Ten people were killed, including a mother and three children, in a government air strike on a bad boy-controlled town north of Baghdad on Monday, hospital sources and witnesses said.

The attack targeted the town of Hawija, 230 km (140 miles) from the capital, which is controlled by Sunni Moslem forces of Evil from the Islamic State and other groups opposed to Iraq's Shi'ite-led government. A tribal leader and former army officer said the dead were all civilians, and also included an elderly couple. He blamed the deaths on the Lions of Islam for locating a base in the center of the town. Hawija has also seen infighting between the Death Eaters, with jihadist Islamic State fighters clashing in June with the Naqshbandi bad boys, made up of former army officers as well as loyalists of Saddam Hussein's former ruling Baath party. The army, backed by Shi'ite Moslem militias and volunteer fighters, has been trying to push back the Sunni forces of Evil since they took over the northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
on June 10 and swept south towards the capital. The army's attempt to regain the city of Tikrit stalled last week in the face of Death Eater defense and it has yet to recapture significant territory.

Further north, the Islamic State has been consolidating its control, driving Christians out of the city of Mosul with a weekend ultimatum to either convert to Islam, pay a religious levy to the hardline Islamists, or face death by the sword. On Monday, Islamic State fighters took over Saint Behnam monastery 30 km (20 miles) southeast of Mosul, ordering a monk and his assistant to leave, a church official and a Christian resident in the area said.

Overnight attacks in Iraq kill at least 16 people
Attacks overnight in two Iraqi cities killed at least 16 people, officials said on Monday as authorities struggle to stop the militants’ offensive that has left huge areas in northern and western Iraq outside of government control.

In one of the attacks, mortar rounds rained down on neighborhoods in the town of Mahmoudiya on Sunday night, killing 11 civilians and wounding 31, a police official said. The town is about 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Baghdad.

And in Baghdad’s western suburb of Abu Ghraib, a roadside bomb struck an army patrol, killing two soldiers and three volunteers who took up arms following the militant push across Iraq in recent weeks. Eighth people were wounded in that attack, said the police official.

FAA bans US flights to Ben Gurion Int'l Airport in Israel
At 12:15 EST on July 22, 2014, the FAA issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) informing U.S. airlines that they are prohibited from flying to or from Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport for a period of up to 24 hours. The notice was issued in response to a rocket strike which landed approximately one mile from Ben Gurion International Airport on the morning of July 22, 2014. The NOTAM applies only to U.S. operators, and has no authority over foreign airlines operating to or from the airport.

The FAA immediately notified U.S. carriers when the agency learned of the rocket strike and informed them that the agency was finalizing a NOTAM.

Israel kills gunnies entering from Gaza
[Dhaka Tribune] Israeli forces killed 10 Paleostinian Lions of Islam who slipped across the border from Gazoo through hidden tunnels on Monday, the military said, as the corpse count from the two-week conflict passed 500 amid growing international calls for an end.

Defying a UN Security Council appeal for an immediate ceasefire, Israeli jets, tanks and artillery continued to pound the Gazoo Strip, killing 28 members of a single family near the enclave's southern border with Egypt, medics said.

The Islamist group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and its allies fired multiple missiles across southern and central Israel, and heavy fighting was reported in the north and east of Gazoo.

Non-stop attacks lifted the Paleostinian corpse count to 496, including almost 100 children, since fighting started on July 8, Gazoo health officials said. Israel says 18 of its soldiers have also died along with two civilians.

Despite worldwide calls for a cessation of the worst bout of Paleostinian-Israeli violence for more than five years, Israeli ministers ruled out any swift truce.

"This is not the time to talk of a ceasefire," said Gilad Erdan, communications minister and a member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's inner security cabinet.

"We must complete the mission, and the mission cannot end until the threat of the tunnels is removed," he told news hounds.

For its part, Hamas, weakened by the loss of Egypt and Syria as allies, voiced determination to fight on to break Israel's economic siege of Gazoo.

16 Arrested In Nazareth Protests Against IDF Action In Gaza
[Ynet] Thousands take the streets, hundreds throw rocks at police who respond with tear gas, stun grenades.

Thousands of Paleostinians erupted into the streets in Nazareth Monday in protest against the IDF's military actions in the Gazoo Strip. 16 were enjugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
after hundreds emerged from the angery crowd to throw rocks at police forces.

The rioters had also blocked off a main road through the city and besides the arrests, police responded to the violence with tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowd.

The protest was organized by The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab citizens of Israel who had previously announced a general strike on Monday for the entire Arab sector in solidarity with residents of Gazoo.

Israelis in favor of the IDF's military action in the Strip also made an appearance Monday evening when some 200 people showed support in front of the Kiryah army headquarters in Tel Aviv.

Monday's protests in Nazareth follow more than a week of street violence in Israel and the West Bank, but also across the region and even in large cities across the world.
The Times of Israel adds:
Across Israel and the West Bank, thousands of store owners closed their businesses in solidarity with the Paleostinians in the Gazoo Strip.

At the same time, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman urged Israeli citizens to permanently boycott any store owner taking part in the demonstrative measure.

“I call to everyone: Do not purchase anything more at shops and businesses owned by those who are participating in the Arab community’s general strike,” Liberman wrote on his Facebook page.

Some 200 protesters hurled stones at coppers, while others attempted to block roads at the scene, police spokeswoman Luba Samri said. Police responded with water cannons and stun grenades, arresting 10 people after the 3,000-strong demonstration in Israel’s largest Arab city.

Demonstrators held up placards reading, “The Israeli army commits genocide in Gazoo,” an AFP correspondent said.

Later, at a cop shoppe, a fight broke out between protesters, including three Knesset politicians, and police.

Involved in the scuffle were Balad MKs Hanin Zoabi and Basel Ghattas, and Hadash head Mohammad Barakeh.

Liberman’s call for a boycott of the store owners was heavily criticized by Meretz party chairwomen Zahava Gal-on, who accused the foreign minister of racism.

“Once again, the foreign minister, who should be the presenter of the State of Israel, shows his ugly, racist face,” she said. “It is the right of Arab citizens of Israel, just like any other citizen, to express solidarity with their brothers who suffer in Gazoo and with the suffering of innocent people in Gazoo.”

There have been several protests among Israeli Arabs against Israel’s two-week-old operation in Gazoo.

On Friday evening, thousands of demonstrators in Haifa, led by controversial Balad MK Hanin Zoabi, clashed with police as they attempted to block several roads in the coastal city during a rally against the IDF’s ongoing ground incursion in the Gazoo Strip.

A number of coppers and protesters, among them Balad MK Jamal Zahalka, who also took part in the rally, were lightly injured and received medical treatment at the spot.

Some of the protesters were reported to have waved Paleostinian flags as they rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud welcoming Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, rocket fire at Tel Aviv. The demonstrators also shouted out slogans against Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Thirty protesters were locked away
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
, including Zoabi, who was handcuffed by coppers at the site. She was released from police custody a short while later.

Police maintained the rally was unauthorized, as the demonstrators had failed to alert authorities of its existence.

At Least 572 Palestinians Killed During Gaza Operation
[Ynet] More than 40 Gazooks killed on 14th day of Operation Protective Edge; rescuers continue pulling bodies out of wreckage of house in Khan Younis.

At least 572 Paleostinians have been killed and 3,350 maimed injured in 14 days of Operation Protective Edge in the Gazoo Strip, the deadliest since the 2009 Operation Cast Lead, Paleostinian emergency services said Monday.

Israeli fighter planes struck homes across Gazoo, in at least four cases buryingd two or more members of the same family under the rubble, said Ashraf al-Kidra, a Paleostinian health official.

One of those strikes killed nine members of a single family in Gazoo City, another killed 10 in the southern half of the coastal strip.

Also, rescuers going through the wreckage of a house targeted late Sunday retrieved 28 bodies in the town of Khan Younis, including at least 24 from the Abu Jamea family, according to al-Kidra and a local human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
group.

"Doesn't this indicate that Israel is ruthless?" said family member Sabri Abu Jamea. "Are we the liars? The evidence is here in the morgue refrigerators. The evidence is in the refrigerators."
Saddam Hussein saved children's bodies for years, as I recall, to bump up the horror factor of the 2003 invasion...I'd give even odds of kitmen here.
Israeli tank shells also hit the Al Aqsa Hospital in the central town of Deir el-Balah, killing at least four people and wounding 60, al-Kidra said.

A doctor at the hospital, Fayez Zidane, said the third and fourth floors and the reception area were damaged, and patients were evacuated to the lower flowers.

The Israeli military said an initial investigation suggests that anti-tank missiles were stored near the hospital and that the cache was successfully targeted. "Civilian casualties are a tragic inevitability of the brutal and systematic exploitation of homes, hospitals and mosques in Gazoo," the army said.

The military has consistently said it makes great efforts to minimize civilian casualties but Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, puts Gazooks in danger by hiding weapons and fighters in residential areas.

Following the deadliest day in Gazoo since 2009, with at least 140 Paleostinians killed on Sunday, medics pulled another 68 bodies from the rubble on Monday, emergency services front man Ashraf al-Kidra said.

In fighting, the Israeli military said 10 Hamas infiltrators trying to sneak in through the tunnels were killed after being detected and targeted by Israeli aircraft.

Refugees and reconstruction aid
Since the Israeli operation began on July 8, huge numbers of Gazooks have fled their homes, with more than 100,000 people taking shelter in 67 schools run by UNRWA, the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees, a front man said.

"This is a watershed moment for UNRWA, now that the number of people seeking refuge with us is more than double the figure we saw in the 2009 Gazoo conflict," the agency's front man Christopher Gunness said in a statement.

By Monday morning, a UN school on the outskirts of Shejaiya was packed to overflowing with people seeking shelter, many sleeping in the corridors, an AFP correspondent said.

And several families were sleeping in the gardens of Gazoo City's Shifa hospital in the hope they would be safe from the bombing.

Gaza official says Israeli shells hit hospital
Israeli tank shells struck a hospital in central Gaza on Monday, a health official and a doctor at the facility said. The health official said the shells killed at least four people and wounded 60, including 30 medical staff, AP reported.
Of course. Hamas is using the hospital as a shelter for its leaders, as a command and control center, and as a weapons depot. That makes the hospital a legitimate target.
Health official Ashraf al-Kidra said 12 shells hit the Al Aqsa hospital in the town of Deir el-Balah. He said the shells landed in the administration building, the intensive care unit and the surgery department.

Live footage on Hamas' Al Aqsa TV station showed wounded being moved on gurneys into the emergency department. A doctor at the hospital, Fayez Zidane, told the station that shells hit the third and fourth floor as well as the reception area.

"There is still shelling against the hospital," he said. He said he found bits of a rocket, presumably from one of the projectiles.

Zidane appealed to the Red Thingy Cross and a nearby hospital to send help.
From yesterday's Times of Israel Gaza warblog, the second item at 20:50:
IDF says antitank missiles stored next to shelled hospital

The IDF says in a statement that initial investigations of reports of tank shells hitting a Gazoo hospital found "that a cache of antitank missiles was stored in the immediate vicinity of the al-Aqsa Hospital."

"This cache was successfully targeted by IDF forces," the spokesperson says in a statement. "Civilian casualties are a tragic inevitability of the brutal and systematic exploitation of homes, hospitals and mosques in Gazoo. While the IDF takes every possible measure to minimize civilian casualties, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and its deliberate tactic of embedding terrorist activities within the urban environment is ultimately responsible."

Four Moro militants killed in Mindano
Four Moro militants were killed and two soldiers were injured when Philippine government forces and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) members clashed again in Maguindanao province on Monday. The fighting began after the militants tried but failed to overrun two military installations. The dawn skirmishes sent civilians fleeing as they were observing the fasting month.

Col. Dickson Hermoso told reporters that, anticipating attacks from the BIFF during the fasting month, the Army repulsed attempts to overrun their bases in two Maguindanao towns.

BIFF spokesman Abu Misry Mama admitted that they carried out the attack and would continue to do so until the military releases a man and his son, whom they seized in Datu Unsay town on July 3. However Hermoso denied that the military had abducted Mohammad Abdulkarim and his son.

Hermoso said two groups of BIFF militants separately attacked military detachments in Dumablas and Barangay Ganta villages, known as BIFF strongholds. He said about 50 heavily armed BIFF militants harassed the the army base in Dumablas at 12:15 a.m., triggering a two-hour firefight. Fatalities were taken by BIFF fighters as they retreated.

About an hour later, another group of BIFF militants attacked an Army patrol base in Ganta, sparking an hourlong skirmish.

Hermoso confirmed that two soldiers were wounded in the encounter. He also admitted that civilians from Ganta had fled following the BIFF attack.

The twin attacks came hours after government forces found and defused an improvised explosive device left on the roadside near an Army base in Datu Saudi.

The bombs were detonated at the same time, but the blasts caused no damage or casualties.

Syria rebels press bid to expel militants from Damascus area
[Pak Daily Times] Rebels have expelled hard boyz from four areas in the Damascus region, after having lost territory to the Islamic State in the north and east of Syria, a monitoring group said Monday.

IS, meanwhile, has started selling Syrian oil to Iraqi businessmen, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

On the diplomatic front, Foreign Minister Walid Muallem told his Russian counterpart he was certain of the regime's "victory" in Syria's civil war, thanks mainly to Moscow's support.

Despite being besieged by government troops, rebels have expelled the IS from four areas in the Damascus region in a drive launched three weeks ago, the Observatory and rebel sources said.

The monitoring group said festivities were ongoing in other areas south of Damascus.

IS was initially welcomed as a potential ally in the armed revolt, but the opposition, including Islamists, has turned against the radical group.

The Observatory said IS fighters have been expelled from Mesraba and Maydaa, two towns in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus.

They had also been forced out of Yalda and Beit Sahem.

The expelled hard boyz fled to Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, Tadamon and Qadam in southern Damascus, "where they have a strong presence", said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman.

On Monday, fighting between rebels and hard boyz broke out in the battered neighbourhoods of Al-Hajar Al-Aswad and Qadam, he told AFP.

A rebel front man in Damascus province confirmed the reports.

"For us, there was no choice but to fight IS," said Captain Abdel Rahman al-Shami, a front man for the rebel Army of Islam, spearheading the offensive in the Damascus area.

"It was in self-defence. We are in a suffocating (regime) siege. We are fighting the regime, while IS is shooting us in the back," Shami said.

"Now, they no longer have any official bases in Eastern Ghouta. But we are chasing the remnants of IS," he told AFP via the Internet.

Ever since Syria's revolt morphed into an armed rebellion, the Eastern Ghouta area has remained outside the regime's control.

On Monday, Muallem told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a letter that Damascus believes its "victory" is assured, thanks to the support of Moscow and other allies.

"Syria's unwavering confidence in its victory is thanks to its people's resistance, and to the support of its friends, especially Russia," said Muallem.

"Syria is more determined than ever to crush the gunnies and to defend its illusory sovereignty... and the security of the region," he added, referring to the anti-regime revolt which has cost more than 170,000 lives since March 2011.

The Observatory, meanwhile, reported that hard boyz are selling oil and liquid gas products extracted from fields under its control in Syria to Iraqi businessmen across the border. "Each barrel of oil is sold to Iraqi businessmen for $20 to $40," compared to more than $100 a barrel on global markets, Abdel Rahman said.

His group said IS, which last month declared a "caliphate" straddling Syria and Iraq, was also selling oil to Syrians living in areas under its control for $12 to $18, to win the support of locals.
