Interesting take on Russia's economic problem written from the perspective of an Azeri news outlet. Useful backgrounder with a WoT related twist at the end.
Difficult economic situation in Russia in December 2014 became one of the most discussed topics in Russian media and Russian society. Nevertheless, the fall of ruble can no longer be Russia’s internal problem only and it is a major blow to the countries which are in some way associated with Russia.
First of all, this concerns Central Asia, the relative well-being of which during the years of independence was mainly ensured with the money transfers of migrant workers in Russia.
For instance, 1.23 million of 8-million population of Tajikistan worked in Russia as of 2013, according to the data from the Federal Migration Service of Russia. This is the official data which doesn’t include those who entered Russia earlier and those who have dual Russian-Tajik citizenship. Thus, the real number of Tajik migrants working in Russia can turn out to be much greater. The inflow of money transfers from Russia to Tajikistan stood at $3.587 billion in 2013, which accounts for 50 percent of the country’s GDP.

Again, iff the US-Allies were ever worried about the Hard Boyz = Radical Islam taking over Pakistan's Nukes, they'll be more worried iff they take over Russia's, China's, + India's.
Anyhoo, as per WORLD MILITARY FORUM, China should "help" Russia get out of its Ruble Crisis, but at the same time should not "save" Russia for the Russians since Russians are NOT Chinese.
* BHARAT RAKSHAK > [Yahoo News] CHINA OFFERS TO HELP RUSSIA ... ... AND WEAN THE WORLD OFF THE US DOLLAR.
* GROONG > [Rediff = repost] RUSSIA, CHINA: NOT ALLIES NOR RIVALS.
VERSUS
* GLOBALNATION.PH > EXPERT UNMASKS CHINA'S STRATEGY OF "CREEPING EXPANSION".
China covertly expanding its sphere of influence widout having to fight any Major Battles or Wars, AT LEAST NOT AT THIS TIME.
* DEFENCE.PK/FORUMS > POTENTIAL CONFLICT POINTS BETWEEN CHINA + US IN THE PACIFIC.
AFAIC, a Chinese takeover of GUAM-WESTPAC will all but prove not only China's own desired "manifest Destiny" but in particular the Anti-US OWG Globalist agenda of various Continent-based, OWG Fed "Unions" being par wid the former Cold War "sole Superpower, now OWG fellow "Co-Superpower", USA.
I have to say that when I first saw the image on the WORLD NEWS BLOG of a China-claimed or disputed island in the SCS or Senkakus, I thought, "ZOOOOOOOMG, THE PLA HAS CONQUERED GUAM'S CAMEL ROCK - WE'RE DOOMED"!
Marios Efthymiopoulos explains to us why Israel and Cyprus can't possibly defend their new oil and NG fields in the Eastern Med themselves, even with all that new wealth, and need Uncle Sugar (NATO, but we all know who that is these days) to do it for them. It's for the children.
Gaaaah...

Easy solution. Move the drilling and processing assets from Nigeria and Congo to east Med. The people who work on them will consider it an improvement, and they're used to dealing with iffy situations.

There goes the left. It amazes me how they screamed like we were raping babies when we went to Iraq. All the war for oil crap. Not they are rationalizing it away as the right thing to do. Gotta love the irony.

"Blood for oil." But your premise is pretty much accurate.
A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
