#3  With that many people trying to kill him and that many attempts on his life lately, I'd say that General Dostum's half life is pretty short right now.

Those people are pretty persistent and they will succeed and kill a lot of people in the process.

So what's the beef with Dostum, why aren't they trying to kill the President of Afghanistan?

3 Egyptian policemen die in blast; 33 injured
[ARABNEWS] A bomb struck a bus carrying Egyptian coppers Monday, killing three and wounding 33, officials said, in the latest attack against security forces who are being targeted by radicals.

The attack occurred in the Nile Delta province of Baheira, 260 km north of Cairo, while the coppers were travelling on a civilian bus to work.

"Three coppers were killed, including one who succumbed to his wounds in hospital," Health Ministry front man Hossam Abdel Ghaffar told AFP, updating an earlier toll.

"Thirty-three coppers were also maimed. One of them remains in a critical condition."

Radicals have killed scores of coppers and soldiers since an insurgency swelled in the wake of the 2013 overthrow of President Muhammad Mursi.

Radicals say their attacks are in retaliation for a police crackdown targeting Mursi supporters that has left hundreds dead and thousands placed in durance vile

Yemeni Forces Seize Control over Hilltops in Southern Saudi Arabia
[ALMANAR.LB] The Yemeni forces announced on Monday that they have taken full control of several hilltops in Jizan, Fars News Agency reported.
So having been run out of Aden, Taiz, and now Sanaa, they're crowing about their "famous victories" in occupying hills on the Soddy border.
On Sunday, the Yemeni army and popular forces targeted and destroyed a Saudi military vehicle convoy in the province of Jizan with missiles.

The Saudi military convoy comprising tanks and armored personnel carriers came under the Yemeni forces' attack in Jizan. Several Saudi military men were killed in the Yemeni raid on their convoy.
That often happens when convoys are attacked.

Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition. Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to runaway president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

militias, according to Al Arabiya News Channel.

The Popular Resistance is backed by a Saudi-led coalition, which has been leading an air campaign against the militia since March, and Yemeni armed forces.

The Houthis overran Sanaa in September, causing violence across the country.

Saudi special forces have revealed that landmines believed to be planted by Houthis have been located on the Saudi-Yemeni border, according to security sources.

The sources said that the special forces have successfully destroyed the landmines.

On Sunday, Houthis seized control of the University of Sanaa and captured a number of professors, including an education official.

Last month, Yemeni forces supported by Saudi-led air strikes recaptured positions on the outskirts of the second city of Aden, areas used by Houthis to fire rockets into the city.

Houthi rockets kill 14 civilians in Yemen's Taiz: residents
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Rockets fired by Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to Americaâ„¢, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
forces of Evil killed 14 civilians, most of them children, as fighting intensified for control of Yemen's third largest city, Taiz, residents said on Monday.

The Saudi-led coalition opposing the Houthis also launched air raids on military bases and Houthi positions in the southwestern city during the fighting, residents said, but no casualties were reported.

Fighters loyal to Yemen's exiled government have been contesting control of Taiz -- known as Yemen's cultural capital -- with the Houthis since April. Hundreds of combatants and civilians have been killed.

"The situation is awful and the fighting is happening on many fronts. All the hospitals have closed except for one, so there's a shortage of medical care. Two rockets fell on the Deluxe neighborhood, killing 14 people, among them women and kiddies," Taiz resident Abdul Aziz Mohammed said.

"Taiz is being devastated."

The nothern-based Houthis, a Shi'ite Moslem group, took control of Yemen's capital Sanaa last September. Arab countries intervened in the conflict in March to halt a Houthi advance into the south which caused the Saudi-backed government to flee to Riyadh from its refuge in the southern port of Aden.

Months of air strikes and arms deliveries by the rich Gulf states to government loyalists began to pay off last month, when they seized back Aden and made surprise gains toward Yemen's north and Sanaa.

Gulf Arab states view the Houthis as a proxy for their archrival, Iran, but the group says it is fighting a revolution against a corrupt government beholden to the West.

Coalition warplanes on Friday killed 65 people in Taiz, most of them civilians, aid group Medecins Sans Frontieres said.

One held with 270kg sulfur in Chittagong
[Dhaka Tribune] Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) members have detained a person in possession with 270 kilograms of sulfur from a rented residence at Billapara under Uttar Sikalbaha union of Karnaphuli Police Station in Chittagong.

RAB-7 Chandgaon Camp Company Commander Major Mohammad Jahangir Alam, in a presser at the camp office at around 5:30pm, said they nabbed betel nut trader Omar Faruk, 35, of Char Patharghata union at Potiya upazila in Chittagong, from his factory at around 2pm following a tip-off.

"We found 270kg of sulfur kept in six sacks in Faruk's rented home in the area, though he could not show us any documents about his possession of the sulfur," he said.

The major said sulfur is one of the ingredients in making crude bombs, and some other types of bombs. The elite force is investigating why the trader kept such a large quantity of the sulfur.

"With this seized sulfur, a remarkable number of bombs can be produced," he added.

RAB-7 personnel also found the involvement of two others -- Habibur Rahman, 30, and Bappi, 30 -- in connection with the possession of the sulfur, but they are on the run, the major said, adding that RAB is also investigating whether the sulfur was brought there for any sabotage or holy warrior activities.

Faruk was at the RAB-7 Chandgaon camp at the time this report was dispatched.

The arrestee will be handed over to Karnaphuli Police Station while a case has been lodged with the cop shoppe in this connection, added the Major.

Local betel nut traders use sulfur for betel nut processing in factories, and are required to collect a license for that.

#4  Modern Day Trojan Horse: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration.

"The authors show from the Qur'an and Muslim sources, both ancient and modern, that the Islamic Doctrine of Immigration is an Islamic-approved method of changing a host society into an Islamic state. There are different types of jihad to advance the objective of establishing a society governed by Shari'a law. In this book, they show how the Islamic Doctrine of Immigration is a very effective form of stealth jihad. This doctrine was demonstrated in the life of Muhammad when he emigrated (Hijrah) from Mecca to Medina. In Europe especially, Muslims are advancing the cause of Islam by the Doctrine of Immigration without the use of jihad’s sword."

British grandfather Chris Norman describes how he helped overpower gunman
[Guardian] Norman noticed three young American friends leap up. "I heard one of the Americans say: 'Go get him Spence.' The other one said: 'No, you don't do that, buddy.'

"I thought great, somebody's actually intervening, let me stand up because we've got much more chance as a team. Let's go!"

Two of the Americans were off-duty soldiers on holiday in Europe. One, Spencer Stone, held the gunman, 25-year-old Moroccan, Ayoub El-Khazzani, in a choke-hold, while the other, Alek Skarlatos, first took away the Kalashnikov, then a pistol that the gunman had pulled on him.

"I just pounced on the gunman's arm so that he couldn't actually use it, and I held his arm to the ground," Norman said. "We all held him until he stopped struggling."

"We have identified 35 incidents of terrorism and other crimes, which were carried out by the bus attack suspects," said a bigwig privy to recently held series of meetings on re-examination of all terrorism-related cases before sending them to the home department that would then forward them to military courts.

"The most brutal one was obviously terrorist attack on Ismaili community bus which claimed dozens of lives. Then comes killing of social activist Sabeen Mahmud, attacks on Rangers personnel and coppers in Bloody Karachi

and Hyderabad, grenade attack on a Karachi school, attacks on Bohri community people, attack on American educationist Debra Lobo and the list goes on," he said.

The Sindh police decided to 're-examine' all terrorism-related cases on the basis of severity of the crime before recommending them to the home department in the wake of Supreme Court decision in favour of military courts.

The decision was taken after detailed discussion at a recent meeting chaired by Sindh IG police Ghulam Haider Jamali at the central police office, said the sources.

"Police decided to try the suspects in Khalid Mahmood Soomro murder case in military courts as the slain leader was a main figure in a leading political party. His murder in November 2014 was marked as high-profile," said the official.

"The January 2015 bombing of Shikarpur Imambargah has also been added to the list. It's the worst case of sectarian terrorism in Sindh in recent history. So it was also marked as a case fit for military courts."

He said the Zahra Shahid murder case was also discussed at the meeting but the officials were not convinced over recommending it.

Suspected bomber escapes from anti-terror court in Karachi
[DAWN] An undertrial prisoner, who was being tried for possession of explosives, beat feet from police custody on Monday when he was produced for his hearing at Bloody Karachi

Tanveer alias Jumbo was under the custody of the special investigation unit after he was incarcerated

in Karachi's Ibrahim Hyderi in 2014 and a case (FIR 241/14) was registered under Sections 4/5 of the Explosives Subtances Act, 1908.

The act mentions punishment for 'attempting to cause an kaboom or possessing explosives with the intention of endangering life or property or keeping them under suspicious circumstances'.

Police had claimed that hand grenades and other bombs were recovered from Tanveer's possession at the time of arrest.

A hearing for evidence in this case was fixed at ATC-IX today and the prisoner was brought to court from Central Jail. He was being escorted by a policeman when he apparently managed to unlock his handcuffs and escaped.

Karachi's ATCs are housed at Sindh Secretariat where there are no boundary walls on the premises.

Initial reports suggest that Tanveer may have escaped easily and did not meet resistance at the gate, where a large number of secretariat employees enter and exit from, as he was not handcuffed.

In the past, the higher judiciary had suggested shifting ATC courts to more reasonable premises but the provincial government is yet to comply.

Two army men, six terrorists killed in Shawal clash: ISPR
[DAWN] At least two security personnel, including a lieutenant colonel, were killed in a clash with snuffies in Shawal area of North Wazoo, military's media wing said on Monday, adding that six snuffies were also killed in the clash.

The region is remote and off-limits to journalists, making it difficult to verify the number and identity of those killed.

The final phase of Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
operation in North Waziristan got under way on Thursday as troops launched a ground offensive in Shawal Valley, one of the last strongholds of snuffies in the region.

"We have moved into the last stage of the operation. The ground action in Shawal has commenced," military front man Maj Gen Asim Bajwa told Dawn.

The Zarb-e-Azb operation began in June last year and the army says it has cleared most of North Waziristan.

Shawal Valley and a pocket to its northwest are the remaining areas that need to be cleared.

The terrorists, except for those who have fled to Afghanistan, are said to be holed up in Shawal. One of the reasons the fleeing snuffies chose Shawal as their refuge was a perception that Shawal was inaccessible.

"The snuffies have been besieged there for weeks now," the ISPR chief said.

The area is considered to be a stronghold of Gul Bahadur, a warlord once considered to be pro-government, and an Al Qaeda sanctuary. Presence of Haqqani network snuffies was also reported from the valley when a US drone strike on June 6 killed nine Haqqanimen there. Shawal has been the focus of US drone attacks this year.

Shawal Valley, which borders South Waziristan on one side and Afghanistan on the other, has the toughest terrain in the tribal agency, with treacherous mountains as well as forests.

It is said that the Shawal offensive could be the toughest part of the campaign.

"We are expecting opposition and are fully prepared for it," Gen Bajwa said.

Pakistan frees Chinese tourist held by Taliban
[ARABNEWS] A Chinese tourist held hostage for months by the Taliban has been sprung in a government operation, Pak Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan
...Currently the Interior Minister of Pakistain. He is the senior leader of the Pak Moslem League (N) and a close aide to Nawaz Uncle Fester Sharif. He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that. since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture...
said.

Khan made the announcement in a presser late Sunday night that was broadcast Monday on multiple TV channels. He said the man will be handed over to Chinese authorities soon.

"Our intelligence agencies are proud of rescuing the captive," he said. "Chinese authorities, whenever we meet, would always ask about the captive. Thank God, now, we have him."

There was no immediate comment from the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on the rescue operation. Khan did not identify the Chinese national and did not provide details on the rescue.

The only Chinese national known to be held by the Taliban is Hong Xudong, who was kidnapped in May 2014 near the northwestern Pak city of Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
. Hong had entered the country from India and had been traveling around Pakistain by bicycle.

The kidnapping was claimed by a splinter group of the Pak Taliban. A video released in May 2015 showed a man identified as Hong asking the Chinese government to honor his kidnappers' unspecified ransom demands.

Iraq
Suicide car bombings at Iraqi outpost kill 8
[ARABNEWS] A series of Daesh suicide boom-mobileings targeting a military outpost in Anbar province killed eight soldiers and maimed six Monday, military and security officials said, the latest Lion of Islam attacks to hit beleaguered Iraqi forces in the region.

The assault west of Anbar's quiet provincial capital, Ramadi, involved three vehicles, including two fuel trucks, officials said. The outpost housed a joint contingent of army soldiers, coppers and allied Sunni militiamen, they said.

Monday's violence is the latest deadly Daesh attack in Anbar, where government forces backed by US-led Arclight airstrikes have been battling the Lion of Islam group for months. Since Friday, at least 75 soldiers and allied Sunni turbans have been killed. Much of Anbar is under the Lion of Islams' control, including Ramadi and the key city of Fallujah.

Late Sunday, the Iraqi military said in a televised statement that its warplanes targeted Daesh positions in northern and western Iraq, including an Lion of Islam meeting in the town of Tel Afar.

In scattered violence Monday in Baghdad, three separate roadside kaboomings killed seven people and maimed 24, police and hospital officials said.

A prominent Shiite holy man, meanwhile, has instructed his followers in Baghdad to join protesters who stage a weekly rally there against corruption.

Moqtada Al-Sadr, whose followers battled American troops during the US occupation, has supported the Friday protesters since they began a month ago. The participation of Al-Sadr's followers significantly will increase the size of the Baghdad protests, which have averaged between 7,000 and 10,000 demonstrators. That will turn up more pressure on Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi's government to accelerate the pace of reforms and prosecute corrupt officials.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian sentenced to death in Gaza for providing info to Israel
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, military court in the Gazoo Strip on Monday sentenced a Paleostinian to death for allegedly providing information to Israel said to have led to Paleostinians being killed, judicial sources said.

The 28-year-old man was identified only by the initials N.A. and no other details on the accusations against him were provided by Hamas, the Islamist movement that rules the Paleostinian territory which has seen three wars with Israel in six years.

According to the Paleostinian Centre for Human Rights, 157 people have been sentenced to death in the occupied territories since the creation of the Paleostinian Authority in 1994.

Thirty-two have been executed, including 30 in the Gazoo Strip.

All execution orders must in theory be approved by Paleostinian president Mahmud Abbas before they can be carried out, but Hamas no longer recognises his legitimacy.

In Gazoo, beyond death sentences handed out by courts, Hamas has also carried out summary executions for collaborating with Israel, sometimes in public places.

The most prominent occurred during last summer's 50-day war between Paleostinian bandidos holy warriors in the territory and Israel, when a firing squad of men in uniforms from Hamas' armed wing rubbed out six people in front of Gazoo City's main mosque.

Under Paleostinian law, collaborators, murderers and narcos risk death sentences.

Deadly air strikes extend on Eastern Ghouta, kill 30
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrian regime's devastating aerial campaign has extended on eastern suburbs of Damascus on Sunday, killing 30 people in less than 12 hours since 52 people had been killed in key town of Douma northeast the capital, activists and monitoring groups said.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights said 13 civilians, including 6 children and 5 women, have bit the dust in Hamouriya suburb as well as 8 others were killed in Saqba.

More 9 victims, including 3 children, have been killed in Irbeen and nearby village of Kafr Batna, the monitoring group that tracks war in Syria said.

On Saturday, at least 52 people had been killed in Douma, 6 days since a massacre committed against 117 civilians and branded as war crime by UN officials.

Their deaths were denounced by global powers as well as rights groups, which lambasted the Assad regime's indiscriminate attacks on civilians.

Iran-backed militia in Qamishli fades in front of ISIS, PYD
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The power of Iranian-backed al-Maghawir militia northeast Syria is decling rapidly in the city of Qamishli, north of Hasakah, to favore of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
beside restrictions imposed on them by the Democratic Union Party (PYD).

Sources in rebel group Regiment 154 confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl that Hezbollah-trained militia in Qamishli has begun to disappear and they count no more than 100 member, although they were founded short time ago. The militias were abandoned by the regime especially when Major-General "Mohammed Khaddor" left the city of Hasaka to Deir Ezzor.

The source added that maghawir militias have not been paid their salaries for three months, and the troupe 154 does not know enough information about their numbers and who left or died or stayed

The militia had emerged in the beginning of this year with Iranian support and fund, they received training from the Lebanese Hezbollah militias. Almost 1000 members joined the troupe 123 and graduated after training in a camp in Kawkab mountain.

Many well informed sources explained that transferring major-General "Khaddor" from Hasaka had had big effect on fastening the collapse of Maghawir militias.

Conflict with Kurds and PYD has increased since appointing Khaddour in August 2014. He depended on the popular Committees and Baathists, besides being sectarian. It is reported that he talked to people in Nobel and al-Zahra that they would raise the banner of al-Hussein and l fight under the banner of Al-Hussein.

Maghawir militias first battle was in December 2014 when the Islamic state attacked the village of Tel Gazool south of Qamishli, but the militia failed their first test and lost the battle besides losing the most important barriers there, many of them were killed and maimed while others fled to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, according to the activist Milad Yusuf, from Hasaka Media Center.

Yusuf pointed that "Elusion" aircraft had transferred cars of Hezbollah's commanders known as "Pilgrims" from Qamishli Airport to Damascus, while the remaining members are waiting the contract to end in order to retrieve their identity cards.

According to the activist, PYD took advantage of the Islamic state's attack on the Al-Hasakah province, to get rid of the popular committees and Maqhawir militias. PYD's leaders mentioned that they have no problem with the Syrian regime, but their problem was with those militias.

Hussein Kojer, prominent Kurdish commander objected in the past recruiting youth with Maghawir militia and demanded to recruit them in troupes for the PYD. He told the Arab tribes' Shiekhs, about his concern for joining Maghawi militias as they were known of being supported by Iran and Hezbollah.

Yusuf also confirmed that the bandidos faceless myrmidons of the Democratic Union Party PYD attacked the areas controlled by militias of National Defence forces NDF, and Maghawir from time to time, while the regime stayed without any response, even the military groups of PYD attacked a convoy of Maghawir militia coming from Qamishli to Hasaka, killed and incarcerated
