Egypt's armed forces seize explosives stores in Giza, Al-Aris

the smugglers who brought the chemicals in, according to statement

Egypt's armed forces have seized three explosives stores in Giza's lower-class districts of Imbaba and Warraq, and in North Sinai's Al-Arish, according to a TV announcement by Egypt's army on Wednesday.
And where exactly were the 'stores'?
The three stores contained 30 tonnes of bombs and weapons, according to the statement.

The statement added that "terrorist elements" smuggled the materials used in the explosive devises.

"The chemicals were smuggled illegally in containers which entered Egypt claiming to be full of chairs," the statement read.

The armed forces have also arrested a "number of terrorists" reportedly responsible for smuggling chemicals and weapons.

Security forces have, as is usual in Egypt, ramped up their activities to coincide with the beginning of the Eid Al-Adha holiday which started on Wednesday.

Army rescues over 240 women, children in northeast Nigeria
[Iran Press TV] Nigerian soldiers have rescued more than 240 women and kiddies in a series of security operations against the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
Boko Haram

terrorist group in the country's troubled northeast.

Nigerian military sources said on Wednesday that the hostages were released and rescued on Tuesday as the soldiers cleared "terrorist camps" near Banki in Borno State.

The region is located close to the border with Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
and is considered as a stronghold of the terrorist group, which has used Banki to launch cross-border attacks in and around Cameroon's town of Amchide in recent months.

Meanwhile,
...back at the fist fight, Jake ducked another roundhouse, then parried with his left, then with his right, finally with his chin...
Nigerian army front man Sani Usman said it was not immediately clear whether all of those rescued had been kidnapped by Boko Haram, adding, "Screening is ongoing to know their exact status. Some were being held, some belonged to their (the bully boys') families."

Last month, nearly 180 people, mostly women, were freed south of Maiduguri, the capital and the largest city of Borno state.

Also in May, hundreds of women and kiddies kidnapped by the forces of Evil were rescued during a military operation against the group's Sambisa Forest stronghold.

Bangladesh
Ansarullah's global hit list
[Dhaka Tribune] Outlawed Islamist bully boy outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team has issued a hit list of bloggers, writers and activists around the world, in a statement on the internet.

The list internationalises Bangladesh's hitherto localised problem with home-grown turbans.

Nine bloggers based in the United Kingdom, seven in Germany, two in the United States, one in Canada and one in Sweden were named on the list, the UK's Guardian reports.

Some of the targeted writers are Bangladeshi citizens living overseas. Others are dual nationals or citizens of western countries.

Individuals on the list have said they intend to keep writing and blogging, the Guardian reports.

The police blame the outlawed group for a spate of killings of secular bloggers over the last 18 months.

All those killed were prominent critics of turban religious doctrines, especially in Islam.

There has been no previous indication that Ansarullah was targeting bloggers overseas. It is unclear if Ansarullah has the capability to carry out their threats, but its call for action may prompt individuals to mount "lone wolf" attacks.

The origin of the list is unclear and some doubt it is an official statement from Ansarullah but was compiled or published from the UK or elsewhere in the west.

Police have charged an Ansarullah organiser and four supporters with the murder of 27-year-old blogger Oyashiqur Rahman Babu in Dhaka in March.

Oyashiqur's death came weeks after Bangladeshi-American atheist blogger Avijit Roy was murdered in Dhaka by machete-wielding attackers. His US-based widow is among those named on the new list.

The list is accompanied by a demand, apparently addressed to the Bangladesh government, to strip the bloggers of their Bangladeshi citizenship even though many of those on the hit list have dual nationality or are citizens of other countries.

The government has been previously criticised for requesting local bloggers and activists to avoid provocative statements on sensitive religious issues.

last month said: "It is shocking that Bangladesh authorities not only failed to protect the bloggers despite complaints to the police about threats against them, but instead are proposing self-censorship."

China-Japan-Koreas
At least 40 casualties in knife attack at Xinjiang mine
[RFA] A knife attack orchestrated by alleged separatists at a coal mine in China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region has resulted in at least 40 casualties, including the deaths of five police officers, and several suspects are believed to be on the lam.

The attack began at around 3:00 a.m. on Sept. 18 when a band of knife-wielding suspects set upon security guards at the Sogan Colliery in Aksu prefecture, Jamal Eysa, the chief of state security police at a neighboring mine. He said, "The attack started at security gate of the colliery, which was watched by some 20 security guards at the time. The residence of the colliery owner was the second target and, at the end, [the suspects] attacked police as they approached the area to control the situation."

Eysa said he received a phone call from the mayor of Bay township later that day ordering him to patrol area streets and prepare for a potential attack against the Bay Colliery where he is stationed, around 20 kilometers (12 miles) away from the Sogan Colliery in Terek township.

An official notice Eysa received suggested the incident at Sogan was "a long-planned, well-prepared, large-scale attack by separatists against police officers and mine owners at a coal field in our county."

People who took part in the operation against the attackers told Eysa the suspects were from "neighboring farms" and that they had "taken control of the dynamite at the colliery."

"That is why they were able to do such severe damage to our police team and to the Han businessman and factory owners," Eysa said without providing details about whether any explosives were used by the suspects.

Eysa estimated that "at least 40 people were killed or injured, including police officers, security guards, mine owners and managers, and attackers."

He said, "Even though four days have passed since the incident, raiding operations are ongoing, so I believe that at least some of the attackers are alive and on the run."

Berlin police raid eight buildings in Islamist probe
[RFE/RL] Berlin police have raided eight buildings after a months-long investigation into a group of suspected Islamic extremists involved in terror-related activities. Police said that the early-morning raids included a search of a mosque's office.

The key suspects are a 51-year-old Moroccan man accused of encouraging others to go to Syria to fight with "militant jihadist groups" against the Assad regime, and a 19-year-old Macedonian man suspected of taking part in the fighting there.

Police say there was no evidence that the suspects were planning any attacks in Germany.

Turkish fighter jets hit PKK bases in northern Iraq
[Hurriyet Daily News] Turkish Arclight airstrikes have targeted and destroyed bases belonging to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, the Turkish General Staff said on its website on Sept. 23.
They've still hit approximately zero IS.
Fighter jets hit bunkers and weapons caches in the Hakurk region belonging to the PKK on Sept. 22, according to the statement.

According to the armed forces, around 1,200 murderous Moslems have been killed in ground and air operations in Turkey and northern Iraq. Meanwhile,

Great White North
Canada: Islamic rail plotters sentenced to life terms
A Canadian court has sentenced two men to life in prison for plotting to derail a train from New York to Toronto.

Raed Jaser, a Canadian resident of Paleostinian descent, and Tunisian migrant Chiheb Esseghaier were convicted in March.

The pair were tossed in the clink
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in 2013 after an undercover FBI operation.

Prosecutors alleged the two men spent months plotting to kill as many people as possible on the VIA rail route.

"These are the most serious of terrorism offences, designed to result in indiscriminate killings of innocent human beings," Justice Michael Code said, according to the CBC.

Prosecutors said the men hoped the attack would encourage the US and Canadian governments to withdraw troops from Moslem countries.

Esseghaier refused to acknowledge the authority of the court and served as his own legal counsel. He argued that the Koran should be used as the sole legal reference.

Esseghaier, 31, was studying for a doctorate at the National Institute for Scientific Research near Montreal, while Jaser, 37, reportedly worked as a customer service agent at a removal firm.

Canadian media say an investigation was launched after a tip-off by a concerned imam in the Toronto Moslem community.

At the time of their arrest Royal Canadian Mounted Police Chief Superintendent Jennifer Strachan said the attack was "definitely in the planning stage but not imminent".

[DAWN] Rangers on Wednesday said they tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
a suspected hit man responsible for taking out Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Manzar Imam in a raid conducted Tuesday night in Taiser town area of Bloody Karachi

.

In statement issued by the paramilitary force's front man, the paramilitary force leading a security operation in Karachi said suspected murderer Muhammad Ashiq is also affiliated with the MQM, adding he confessed to killing Manzar Imam and his guards on January 17, 2013.

Ashiq is also involved in killing 12 other individuals from other political parties, said the statement, adding that the suspect would dump dead bodies of his victims using a Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) ambulance.

The arrested hit man was produced in an Anti-Terrorism Court Wednesday, which approved a 90-day remand in Rangers custody.

MQM MPA Manzar Imam, along with his police guards was killed in January 2013 when four gunnies on cycle of violences opened fire on his vehicle in Orangi town's Hyderi Chowk area. Sons of former Lal Masjid cleric arrested in Islamabad
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: Two suspected holy warriors tossed in the clink
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
from Islamabad's F-6 sector late on Tuesday have been identified as the sons of deceased Lal Masjid
...literally the Red Mosque, located in Islamabad and frequented by all sorts of high govt officials. The proprietors, Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi, unleashed their Islamic storm troopers on the city, shutting down whorehouses and beating people up who weren't devout enough. The Musharraf govt put an end to the nonsense by besieging the place. Abdul Aziz Ghazi was nabbed while he was trying to escape dressed up like a girl. BBC reported that the corpse count at 173, but other claims, usually hysterical, say there were up to 1000 titzup. Among their number was Abdul Rashid Ghazi. Everyone then said tut-tut and what a nice guy he had been...
holy man Ghazi Abdul Rasheed.

The suspects identified as Haris and Haroon were arrested by a joint team of Police and Rangers who were patrolling the area at the time.

An army uniform and a handgun were seized from their vehicle. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against the 'terrorists' for the possession of a weapon at the Kohsar cop shoppe.

The suspects are being questioned by authorities.

According to DawnNews, a Lal Masjid front man said the FIR is an attempt to bar the sons in their attempts to pursue a case against former president Musharraf who was charged for the murder of the Lal Masjid holy man.

Read: Lal Masjid holy man's murder case: Musharraf files bail plea

The front man said that no uniform had been recovered from the car and that only a weapon was present in the vehicle. He added that the recovered weapon was licensed.

Lal Masjid's Abdul Rashid Ghazi's body was found in the basement of Jamia Hafsa
... the Islamic nunnery maintained by Lal Masjid....

as the security forces' 2007 Operation Silence neared its culmination.

A large number of people including Lion of Islams, seminary students and military troops were killed in the operation.

Despite strong concerns from religious quarters, a clean-up operation against seminaries and terror-funding outfits has expanded into the federal capital.

Iraq
There's a rogue group in Iraq's second-largest city that's assassinating ISIS members
[BusinessInsider] Their identities are secret. They work after sundown, preferring deserted areas of the city. No one knows where they will strike next. They target different neighborhoods each time.

Their mission is simple: to kill Islamic State (IS) militants.
A very good mission.
Their targets never vary, but their methods do. Sometimes they use snipers to take out a militant. Sometimes they plant roadside bombs and blow up cars. Sometimes they stab their victims, sometimes strangle them.

They are Mosul's vigilante brigades, shadowy groups of civilians-turned-armed-assassins who risk their own lives to kill IS gunmen -- as well as those who support them.

IS has done its best to eliminate these assassins, tracking down and killing as many of them as it can. But local people in Mosul say these anonymous resistance fighters have had an impact, that IS has covered up the killings and changed how its gunmen operate in Mosul.

Hiding behind beards
"Do you know why IS ordered all men [in Mosul] to grow their beards?" the young man asks with a laugh. "It's because they don't want to be recognized."

The young man says he is part of an anti-IS group called the Brigades of Mosul that assassinates IS militants. He tells RFE/RL's correspondent in Mosul that his group has taken out IS gunmen using sniper rifles. Since then, the militants have tried to disguise themselves so they blend in with the public, the young man claims.

The young man, who refuses to give his name, says he and his friends have also planted bombs in Mosul to target IS vehicles. Because of the attacks, IS militants now drive unmarked cars so they are not so visible, he claims.

Resistance is not futile?
Armed anti-IS groups are not a new phenomenon in Mosul, according to RFE/RL's correspondent in the Iraqi city.

They sprang up almost as soon as the militants overran the city last summer. Their names -- the Brigades of Mosul, the Revenge of Nineveh, the Lions of Nineveh, the Brigades for the Liberation of Mosul -- are testament to their members' pride and intense desire to retaliate against IS.

Some of the groups are no longer operating. In some cases, IS tracked down and killed their fighters. Some say they had to disband when they got no support from the Iraqi government in Baghdad.

Maoist killed in Mindanao clash
[Inquirer] A suspected New People's Army militant was killed in a clash with Philippine troops in Davao Oriental on Tuesday afternoon.

Captain Alberto Caber said troops were on patrol in Barangay Calapagan when they were fired upon by communist insurgents. A 45-minute gun battle broke out, resulting in the militant's death. He said soldiers recovered weapons along with an unexploded improvised explosive device from the battle site.

The battle had nothing to do with the search and rescue operations that officials have launched in connection with Monday's kidnapping incident on the Island Garden City of Samal.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Insurgent group pledges allegiance to al Qaeda's Syria wing
[AlAhram] An holy warrior group fighting in Syria made up of around 1,500 Chechen, Uzbek and Tajik fighters has pledged allegiance to al Qaeda's Syria wing Nusra Front, a group monitoring the war said on Wednesday.

Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar (Muhajireen Brigade) made the pledge in a statement distributed by supporters online, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The pledge is a boost for Nusra Front against its rival Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, an ultra hardline jihadist group which has seized territory in Syria and Iraq.

Among battles fought between Nusra Front and Islamic State is one for control of parts of the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, where fighters from the Muhajireen Brigade could help tip the balance.

Nusra Front, loyal to the successors of the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest...
, and Islamic State are the two most powerful forces fighting the Syrian army and its allies in Syria's civil war. The groups have fought each other since a split in 2013 largely due to a power struggle between leaders.

Nusra Front's leader said in June his group had around 30 percent imported muscle including Europeans, many Asians, Russians and Chechens.

Syria deploys Russia drones against Daesh for first time: Source
[Iran Press TV] Syria has deployed for the first time drones that Russia has provided to the Middle Eastern country for the fight against Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorists, a security source says.

"For the first time, the army today used drones received from Moscow in operations against gunnies in the north and east of the country," the source, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said in the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday.

The source did not provide any further details on the type of the drones or the exact locations they were used.

The development comes a day after a senior Syrian military official said Syria has received advanced military aircraft from Russia for its battle against the Daesh Takfiri turbans who are wreaking havoc in the war-torn country.

The Syrian air force has "taken delivery of at least five fighter planes from Moscow as well as reconnaissance aircraft which allow us to identify targets with great accuracy," the source said.

The official added that Syria has also received "sophisticated military equipment" such as targeting equipment and precision-guided missiles, noting that the new arms have been put to use in Deir ez-Zor and Raqqah provinces in the battle against Daesh.
