Afghanistan
Afghan border police suffer casualties in attack on Torkham posts
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan border police forces have suffered casualties in an attack on security posts located along Torkham near Pakistain, the local officials in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
said Tuesday.

The provincial governor’s front man in Nangarhar Ataullah Khogyani confirmed the incident took place late on Monday night but he did not disclose further information regarding the casualties of the security forces.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
another official in Torkham said at least 8 personnel of the border protection police forces bit the dust in the attack.

The official speaking on the condition of anonymity said some security posts were also briefly captured by the faceless myrmidons but the Afghan forces managed to retake it after a shootout with the Death Eaters.

The anti-government armed Death Eater groups including the Taliban Death Eaters have not commented regarding the incident so far.

Nangarhar is among the relatively peaceful provinces in eastern Afghanistan but the anti-government armed Death Eater groups are actively operating in a number of its remote districts.

The Taliban Death Eaters and faceless myrmidons loyal to the Islamic Stat of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group are active in a number of the restive districts of Nangarhar.

Shabaab Suicide Bomber Strikes AU base in Somalia
[AnNahar] A Shabaab jacket wallah rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into an African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
military base in central Somalia on Tuesday, a security official said.

The kaboom was followed by heavy gunfire at the Djiboutian base in the city of Beledweyne.

Witness Ismail Mahad described seeing "clouds of smoke caused by the heavy blast" followed by "exchange of gunfire at the Djiboutian camp".

"There was a suicide kaboom targeting the Djiboutian military base in western Beledweyne," said Abdullah Ibrahim, a local security official who added the number of casualties was not yet known.

The al-Qaeda-linked Shabaab myrmidon group said, via its Radio Andalus media organization, that it was responsible for the attack, claiming "the death and injury of many soldiers".

The Shabaab, which is fighting to overthrow the internationally-backed government in Mogadishu, regularly attacks AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) bases as well as government and civilian targets.

In recent weeks Æthiopian troops deployed in the nearby area have withdrawn from some of their positions, with no explanation given for the movement of troops back towards Beledweyne, the bustling provincial capital.

Each time Shabaab fighters immediately reoccupied the abandoned towns.

12 Killed in Shabaab Bomb Attack in Kenya
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] A kaboom at a guesthouse in northeast Kenya killed at least 12 people on Tuesday, in an attack claimed by Shabaab hard boyz who last hit the area earlier this month.

"We have found 12 bodies so far after we managed to access the building," a police brass hat told AFP.

"We are still combing the area with the help of anti-terrorism police and sniffer dogs in the ongoing search and rescue."

Eleven men and one woman were killed in the 3:30 am (0030 GMT) blast at the Bisharo lodge, a police source told AFP. The toll was confirmed in a government statement that said part of the building was collapsed by the blast.

Kenyan media reported that some of the dead were members of a theatre group due to perform for school children in Mandera.

The al-Qaeda-linked Shabaab bad boy group claimed the attack in a message broadcast by its Radio Andalus media organization, claiming 15 were killed.

"This attack is part of a series of attacks in which the Mujahideen are hunting down infidels" in northeast Kenya, the group said.

It is the second Shabaab strike in Mandera in three weeks. The previous one on October 6 killed six people at a gated residential building that mainly housed non-Moslems, less than a kilometer from the volatile Somalia border town of Beled Hawa.

Also on Tuesday, a Shabaab jacket wallah attacked an African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
military base housing Djiboutian soldiers in the central Somali city of Beledweyne.

It is not known how many were killed in that attack which comes as Somalia is in the process of selecting parliamentarians, and a new president, due by the end of November.

terrorists.
No names given. Wanta bet they're not named Kevin and Ron?
According to Tunisian security officials speaking on Tuesday, the two suspects, allegedly brothers of 29 and 32 years of age, were from the US state of Michigan and were apprehended over possession of videos and pictures praising the ISIS Takfiri terrorist group (ISIS), Rooters reported.

A report by the Tunisian TV Channel Nessma TV said the two possessed plans to blow up a number of institutions, as well as calls to join the Takfiri group.

A front man for Tunisia’s Ministry of Interior confirmed the report, saying that the two brothers claimed to have been studying computer science at a university in Jendouba, north-western Tunisia.

He added that the two had rented a house in Jendouba and one of them had married a Tunisian woman who had traveled to Syria.

After local residents became suspicious of the pair and contacted authorities, ISIS-related content was discovered on their personal laptops.

Police sources said both suspects were "heavily bearded, unwashed and living in poor conditions", adding that they had United Arab Emirates stamps in their passports.

Insurgents Confiscated Half Budget for School Books
Skool's out!
Aden – Yemeni Minister of Education Abdullah Lamlas announced that insurgents confiscated half the amount allocated for printing school books of the state school. He also indicated that the books published had been altered to their own benefit which prompted the ministry to cancel the Arabic Language books of ninth grade and grade one.

The minister added that the insurgents canceled the reading curriculum of 2014 in an attempt to change historic facts agreed on by both Shi’ites and Sunnis.

According to the minister, the militias destroyed in one year everything built by the minister over the course of 15 years. He revealed that the country lost 80 million dollars allocated for education. He also added that this amount was given to Yemen due to international partnership and cooperation between the World Bank and many other parties.

The minister said the results of the exams in liberated districts will be announced tomorrow during a press conference in the temporary capital Aden and will be available at the ministry’s website.

Lamlas added that the results can’t be sent to Sana’a out of fear of tampering. He also pointed out that Telecommunication Company is under insurgency’s control which prompted the ministry to establish a website to post results.

The minister explained that due to the war, many civilians were displaced from Taiz, Bayda, and other districts which caused an increase in number of students in classes. He also pointed that in some areas some schools contained 170 students in a single class.

As for the cholera outburst, the ministry decided to close schools and educational institutions in areas that were infected until medical sources confirm the disease is contained and under control.

The minister concluded that having over two million students in the liberated districts requires support and funding for supplies and school books.

Gunmen kill 2 Soddy kops in Dammam
[al-Manar] Unidentified gunmen killed two Saudi policemen in the eastern city of Dammam early on Tuesday, authorities in the region said.

The officers came under “heavy fire from an unknown source” as they parked their vehicle in a commercial area, the Saudi Press Agency quoted a police spokesman as saying.

The spokesman did not say who police suspected had carried out the shooting, the latest in a series of attacks on officers in the oil-rich east of the kingdom.

Two policemen were killed in a similar attack in Dammam last month.

Ex-wanted Saudi was Qaeda commander, returned from Iran
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Wanted Saudi man Osama Ali Abdullah Damjan -- who surrendered himself to police in early October--was reportedly a senior al-Qaeda commander who likely fled to Iran.

Damjan left Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to Afghanistan in 2001 before the September 11 terrorist attacks against the United States, sources speaking to Alarabiya.net revealed.

The sources claimed that Damjan was admitted to al-Qaeda’s Al Farooq training camp near Kandahar, one of the late Osama bin Laden
... who doesn't live anywhere anymore...
's key bases.

Damjan had been training at the camp during bin Laden’s presence. Bin Laden's successor Ayman al-Zawahiri
... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodx al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
and Abu Musab al Zarqawi -- the founder of al-Qaeda in Iraq -- also received training in the same place.

After the United States waged war on al-Qaeda camps in Afghanistan, Damjan joined the terrorist group’s commanders who fled to Iran.

In 2003, Damjan -- who was also known under the Islamist alias "Abu Jawahir" -- appeared in Iraq fighting along Al Zarqawi, and was later appointed as the emir of the Iraqi city of Qaem.

Conflicting reports on websites affiliated with al-Qaeda reported that Damjan was killed in 2010 in Wazoo, Pakistain.

Other websites said he died inside a prison in the ISIS-stronghold Syrian city of Raqqa, which could reflect that the al-Qaeda commander was not on good terms with ISIS.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
Damjan was still alive and surrendered himself to police in early October, the Saudi Interior Ministry stated Tuesday.

The ministry said he "had contacted the security authorities in the Kingdom and expressed his wish to return and surrender himself to security authorities," according to a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency.

Damjan arrived in Saudi Arabia on October 4, 2016.

Bangladesh
Eight militants of Kallyanpur den still out of reach
[Dhaka Tribune] Eight mid-level leaders of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-styled turban outfit New JMB who frequently visited their Kallyanpur flat could not be nabbed
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
though three months have passed since the law enforcers busted the den and killed nine members on July 26.

Counter-terrorism officials termed it a big success in combating extremism since the deadly group’s Holey Artisan Bakery attack on July 1 when 24 people, mostly foreigners, were shot and hacked. But as of now, two of the eight have fled to India dodging the police.

There were 11 trained snuffies staying in the fifth-floor flat of Jahazbari at Kallyanpur when police’s Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) teams carried out "Operation Storm 26" to end a 12-hour stand-off.

One of the two others, identified as Iqbal, managed to flee the scene.
... as though they had never been...
but the other, Raqibul Hasan Rigan, was arrested and later treated at a hospital as he sustained injuries. Rigan also gave confessional statement in a court.

Based on his information, the law enforcers learnt that at least nine mid-level leaders of the outfit used to visit the flat to provide them with logistics. One of them was New JMB’s military and operations commander Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury, who was later killed along with two other associates in Narayanganj on August 27.

Eight of the nine snuffies killed on July 26 were identified as Md Abdullah of Dinajpur; Abu Hakim Nayeem of Patuakhali; Taj-ul-Haque Rashiq of Dhanmondi, Dhaka; Akifuzzaman Khan of Gulshan; Sehzad Rauf Arko of Bashundhara Residential Area; Motiur Rahman of Satkhira; Jubayer Hossain of Noakhali; and Rayhan Kabir of Rangpur.

In the FIR filed over the Kallyanpur incident, police named eight other snuffies of New JMB ‐ Iqbal, Ripon, Khalid, Mamun, Manik, Junayed Hasan Khan, Badal and Azadul Kabiraj.

When contacted, CTTC chief Monirul Islam admitted that Khalid and Ripon had already crossed the border, and that they were conducting drives to arrest the others.

The Operation Storm 26 was launched based on information that some snuffies were staying in a flat of Jahazbari on Road 5 of Kallyanpur on July 25. Mirpur police and local people accompanied the special forces during the drive.

The snuffies used bullets and grenades when the police knocked the door, prompting them to back off. The operation was carried out around 6am for one hour. According to Rigan, six of the dead snuffies were suicide squad members.

In the flat, the law enforcers also recovered some documents about the New JMB and a flag of the IS group. Before the operation, the snuffies took photos wearing IS-style dresses and holding guns and knives.

Monirul said that the families of the dead snuffies had not contacted them for the bodies. So the police handed those over to Anjuman Mufidul Islam for burial. He added that the families could take the bodies upon permission of the court.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Kinnison began his slow infiltration of the sewer system...
the Jahazbari building has been left vacant since the raid. Five police constables are guarding the main gate of the six-storey house. They said that police highups asked them to prevent anyone from entering the building.

Mahbub Hossain Bhuiyan, OC of Mirpur police, told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday that they had cordoned off the building to protect the scene of the crime. "We will open the building once the CTTC unit gives the green signal," he added.

Bangladesh police kill two members of Jamaat-e-Islami Party
[Iran Press TV] Bangladeshi police have rubbed out two members of the country's Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
Party in shootouts amid growing concern of extrajudicial killings by security forces across the Asian country.

Azbahar Ali Sheikh, a police brass hat, confirmed that a Jamaat leader from the western district of Jhenaidah and a leader of its student wing were killed during a raid early Tuesday.

"They fired from pistols and threw three (Molotov) cocktails at coppers when they challenged them at 3:45 am. We fired back and two people were hit. Later we learnt their identities," media outlets quoted Ali Sheikh as saying.

A senior Jamaat official has vehemently denied that the two party figures were killed in shootouts, saying both had been picked up by plainclothesmen early last month.

"It is cooked up (by police)," the official told AFP on condition of anonymity, adding that another Jamaat member had also been killed in "fake shootouts."

Nur Khan Liton, a top human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
activist, called for a judicial probe into the latest killings, saying, "We've serious questions about these deaths. We think these are extrajudicial killings."

He added that local newspapers had earlier reported the two figures missing.

Bangladesh security forces have launched a major crackdown on suspected Death Eaters since a raid on a café in the capital Dhaka in early July, where more than 20 people, mainly foreign hostages, were killed.

In the wake of the massacre, the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist group grabbed credit for the assault but authorities in Dhaka strongly dismissed the claim, arguing that ISIS had no presence in the Moslem-majority country. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
according to security forces, the scale and sophistication of the attack suggested that transnational criminal networks had been involved.

Bangladesh has also been reeling from a wave of recent attacks by bully boys, with targets including foreigners, members of religious minorities, rights activists and bloggers.

Kazakh court hands terrorist 12 year sentence
[RFE/RL] A court in Kazakhstan's northwestern city of Aqtobe has sentenced a man to 12 years in prison after convicting him on terror charges.

The court on October 25 found Nurlan Omirbekov guilty of fomenting terrorism and religious extremism, kidnapping, robbery, extortion, and inciting hatred. It sentenced him the same day. Two co-defendants were convicted of assisting Omirbekov in kidnapping and were sentenced to eight years in jail each.

Investigators say Omirbekov planned to join Daesh in Syria.

In June, 25 Islamic militants carried out a series of attacks in Aqtobe that left five civilians and three members of Kazakhstan's security forces dead. Security forces killed 18 gunmen and arrested several others.

In 2011, a resident of Aqtobe carried out what was described as the first-ever suicide bombing in Kazakhstan.

Italy police bust Nigerian smuggling and prostitution ring

[Ynet] Police in Italy have arrested 11 Nigerians for allegedly trafficking young women and girls from Nigeria to exploit them as sex slaves. The victims, all under age 25 and some as young as 16, traveled through Libya before crossing the Mediterranean by boat with thousands of other migrants.

Police Officer Antonio Salvago in the southern Italian city of Catania said Monday that the victims underwent a voodoo rite to bind them to their debts after they promised to pay up to 40,000 euros ($43,000) for a journey they thought would bring them to a better life in Europe. Salvago says the rite made them obey their smugglers and pimps.

Two imams arrested in Ibiza over suspected links to ISIS
[ELPAIS] Two imams have been incarcerated
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
in Ibiza on suspicion of supporting the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) terrorist group.

The men, both Moroccan nationals, were based at the island’s Masllid al Fath mosque, where they radicalized and recruited people to the jihadist cause with children among their prime targets, according to a statement from Spain’s Interior Ministry.

One of the men had already been arrested in 2010 for beating students with a cane during a class on Arabic culture at the mosque, the local daily Diario de Ibiza reports. The courts went on to ban the use of canes or other similar objects during such classes at the place of worship.

The two suspects have been detained for alleged glorification of terrorism and indoctrination of potential recruits. Investigators say the men had publicly and repeatedly expressed their support for ISIS on social media platforms.

One of the men had used his Facebook account to spread ISIS propaganda, including videos and links to radical publications, the Interior Ministry said.

The men, who live in the Ibiza municipality of Sant Antoni de Portmany, began to increase their online presence in 2012 during the series of revolts across the Middle East known as the Arab Spring, according to the ministry. That online activity coincided with a massive rise in the number of foreign combatants travelling to Syria and Iraq to join the ranks of ISIS.

Their arrest brings up to 156 the number of suspected jihadists detained in Spain since 2015.

Investigators in an operation carried out by Spain’s Civil Guard under the direction of the High Court are now focusing on the analysis of data retrieved from electronic devices belonging to both men.

Spain’s Interior Ministry noted that the assistance of Moroccan secret services had been a "key" factor in the arrests, which come after two other operations targeting jihadists in early October.

Two earlier raids
In one of those operations, Spanish police working in partnership with Morocco’s security forces arrested four Moroccans, two in Spain and two in the North African country. All four were allegedly members of radical cells working in conjunction with each other under ISIS coordination.

German police carry out 13 anti-terrorism raids across 5 federal states
[RT] German police forces conducted several raids across five federal states in response to an "imminent terror threat," according to local media.

Operatives of elite police anti-terrorism units, the SEK, were scrambled across five German states, including Thuringia, Hamburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony and Bavaria, according to Spiegel magazine, which cites police in Thuringia.

Bild magazine cited "an imminent terror threat" as a trigger for the operation.

During the simultaneous raids, 12 apartments and a communal accommodation center were searched, but with no arrests made, according to Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

The large-scale operation reportedly targeted "Islamist-linked terror suspects," local broadcaster MDR reported.

A 28-year-old suspect, said to be a "Russian national of Chechen descent" with links to Islamic State

(IS, previously ISIS/ISIS) is wanted by police, Spiegel reported. According to Bild, the suspect may be plotting "a serious act of violence."

The other suspects include 10 men and three women, convicted of terrorism financing, Bild reported. All the suspects have alleged Islamist backgrounds.

All the suspects are reported to be asylum seekers with unknown residence status. They had been under police surveillance since summer 2015.

Police forces deployed sniffer dogs to detect potential explosives.

At least one suspect is reported to have been placed under arrest in the central Thuringia city of Suhl, where "white powder" of unknown origin was found.

Later, Thuringia criminal police said there is no threat of a terror attack, adding that preliminary outcomes of the operation would be released "in a matter of days."

Unlike neighboring La Belle France and Belgium, Germany had seen no large-scale terrorist attacks until the summer of this year.

In late July, however, it suffered a suicide kaboom attempt and three lone-wolf assaults in the space of a week. In all cases, the perpetrators either had direct links to IS or were inspired by radicalism.

One of the most recent terrorist plots was foiled in early October in the eastern city of Chemnitz, when a 22-year-old Syrian national was captured after a two-day manhunt. Although a special operation had been launched by the authorities, the man was only detained when three fellow Syrians tied him up and alerted police.

The suspect, identified as Jaber al-Bakr, was on the run after German police discovered "highly sensitive explosives" in his flat. al-Bakr did away with himself while in jug. The authorities said later he had considered a "big airport in Berlin" as a "better target" than trains.
The Daily Mail adds:
Police said all were people of Chechen ethnicity with Russian citizenship seeking asylum in Germany, and whose status has not yet been decided".

10 hurt in bombing attack on Antalya
[al-Manar] At least 10 people were hurt in a blast Tuesday at a car park in an office building in the southern Turkish city of Antalya, local media reported.

City mayor Menderes Turel told the broadcaster NTV that “10 to 12 people were slightly injured by flying glass” in the explosion at the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry building. The blast occurred at 8.50am (0550 GMT).

Turel told CNN Turk channel the blast was being investigated and it was “too early” to make assumptions as to the cause.

“The blast may not be a terror attack… we must wait for official information,” Turel said.

Over the past year, Turkey has suffered a series of attacks blamed on the ISIL Takfiri group and Kurdish militants.

TV images showed a wrecked, burned-out car and smashed glass nearby. At least four cars nearby were also damaged, Dogan news agency said.

The incident occurred 11 days after three rockets hit a roadside fishmonger in the popular tourist region, but without causing casualties.

Turkish border guards fires on civilians near Syrian border
[ARA News] Qamishli – Turkey’s border police on Tuesday opened fire on a number of Syrian civilians near the town of Amude, who were trying to escape the ongoing war in Syria, activists and eyewitnesses reported.

At least one civilian was killed and two more injured when the Turkish border guards opened fire on them on the border with Syria’s Kurdish region, in a bid to prevent them from crossing the border into Turkey.

The Kurdish security forces of the Asayish said that Ali Ibrahim Tamme, 23, was killed on Tuesday by Turkish fire near the village of Mearik in Amude suburb.

“Also, two civilians were wounded. They were transferred to Amude Hospital for treatment,” local media activist Shiyar Hassan told ARA News.

“Turkish border guards have violated humanitarian and moral principles and passed all international laws and norms, by killing innocent Syrian civilians, including children,” the Asayish said in a statement.

Turkey has closed all its border gates with Syria’s Kurdish region of Rojava, which forced civilians to seek alternative routes in order to cross the border looking for a safe haven. Dozens have been killed by the Turkish border guards over the past two years, mostly Syrian Kurds.

Last May, Human Rights Watch (HRW) called on Turkey to open its borders in order to allow civilians to flee the Syrian Civil War, but so far Turkey has not changed its policies.

Gerry Simpson, senior refugee researcher at Human Rights Watch, said: “[Turkish] border guards have killed Syrian asylum seekers and pushed others back into the world’s worst war zone.”

“Governments and UN agencies should end their deafening silence on Turkey’s abuse of Syrian asylum seekers and press Turkey to reopen its border to civilians fleeing the horrors in Syria,” Simpson added.

Police officer killed as polio team targeted in Peshawar IED blast
A police officer was killed and a Bomb Defusal Squad personnel injured in two separate Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts targeting a polio team in Peshawar's Daudzai area Tuesday morning, police said.

A polio team was hit when the first IED was detonated, police said.

A second blast occurred when the BDS attempted to defuse another IED found during a search operation in the area, they added. A BDS personnel was injured in the blast.

Polio vaccination drives are underway across Pakistan, one of only two polio endemic countries left in the world.

Last year, the number of polio cases recorded in Pakistan soared to 306, the highest in 14 years. Pakistan has, however, witnessed a 62 per cent drop in polio cases in 2016, according to the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS).

Attempts to eradicate polio have been badly hit by militant attacks on immunisation teams due to claims propagated by the Taliban that the vaccination drive is a front for espionage or a conspiracy to sterilise Muslims.

These rumours have also made inhabitants of lesser-developed parts of the country more wary of allowing immunisation.

The Taliban stepped up attacks targeting polio immunisation teams after Pakistani doctor Shakeel Afridi was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency to set up a hepatitis immunisation drive as part of efforts to track down Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group grabbed credit for a deadly attack on a police academy in Quetta city of Pakistain that left at least 60 dead.

The group released a statement following the attack and released the photographs of the three assailants who carried out the attack late on Monday.

The Arabic statement was released by Amaq news agency which normally covers the stories of the terrorist group in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the world where they operate.

The statement further added that 60 police cadets were killed and around 120 others were maimed in the attack on Police College in Saryab road.

The Pak officials earlier said the attack was likely carried out by al-Alimi faction of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi

This comes as the top US commander in Afghanistan General John Nicholson earlier said the ISIS terrorist group is attempting to establish a caliphate in Afghanistan with the help of the former Pak Taliban members.

The attack on police academy on Monday was the largest during the current year which came as the Mighty Pak Army is engaged in one of the major counter-terrorism operations in tribal regions of the country.

The Afghan officials condemned the attack and said the state-sponsored terrorism, use of proxy force, and distinction between good and bad bandidos snuffies always leads to destruction as they called to say not terror.

Saddams cuz detained for helping ISIS
(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – The Kirkuk Police Directorate announced on Tuesday that the cousin of the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been arrested, south of Kirkuk, for participating in the recent attack launched by the Islamic State on the province.

Kirkuk Police Chief, Brigadier General Sarhad Qadir, said in a press statement “Police forces carried out extensive raid and search operations in Daquq district (35 km south of Kirkuk), and managed to arrest Nizar Mahmud Abdul Ghani, cousin of former president Saddam Hussein, along with one of the ISIS members who attacked the province recently.”

The Beatings Will Continue: Iraqi Edition

ISIS immolates 9 for desertion

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Iraqi media outlets announced on Tuesday, that the Islamic State executed nine of its members by burning for fleeing the battles in central Mosul.

Al Sumaria News stated, “ISIS terrorist gangs executed nine of its members for fleeing the battle against the security forces in Mosul, by throwing them in trenches containing a burning oil, after tying their hands and legs.”

“ISIS used the burning oil trenches to impede the visibility of the Iraqi Air Force and international coalition air force,” Al Sumaria added.

ISIS is using the most heinous methods to murder its rebellious members to discourage them from fleeing battles against the Iraqi government’s security forces.

ISIS lights up sulphur plant
Pining for that odor in their afterlife in Hell
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Hundreds of persons in Mosul suffered from suffocation due to emission of poisonous gasses, after the members of the Islamic State set fire to the Mishraq Sulphur plant on Thursday last week, before fleeing the city of Mosul, media outlets reported.

The Telegraph stated that the emitted gasses formed a toxic cloud, which includes deadly Sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide, combined with residue from burning oil wells, which is a fatal cocktail for those caught in the open or without gas masks.

Deputy Manager of Nineveh Health Directorate, Layth Hababa, said in a press statement, “The health center in Qayyarah area received more than 100 persons suffering from suffocation due to the emission of poisonous gasses,” pointing out that, “The casualties include pregnant women and children, but no deaths were recorded.”

Last week, security forces managed to recapture Mishraq Sulphur plant, but the ISIS members set it ablaze before withdrawing from the area, as the latest step to defend the Caliphate headquarters, Mosul city.

ISIS using civilians as human shields
Slow news day at Turtle Bay
[ARA News ] Geneva – As the US-backed Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Iraqi Army troops close in on Mosul, the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group has committed grave violations against civilians. The group has recently executed dozens of people and used many civilians as human shields, the United Nations reported on Tuesday.

“We continue to receive information that reinforces the belief that ISIS militants are deliberately using civilians as human shields – forcing them to move to sites where ISIS fighters are based, or preventing them from leaving other places for strategic reasons,” said Rupert Colville, Spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) at a news briefing at the United Nations Office in Geneva.

ISIS has reportedly killed 15 civilians on Monday in Safina, a village around 45 kilometres south of Mosul, and threw their bodies in the river, apparently in an attempt to spread terror among the other residents.

“On the afternoon of 19 October, in the same village, ISIS reportedly tied six civilians to a vehicle by their hands and dragged them around the village, apparently simply because they were related to a particular tribal leader fighting against ISIS alongside Iraqi Government forces,” Coalville said, adding that the six men were also allegedly beaten with sticks and gun butts. “It is not clear what happened to them subsequently,” he said.

On 20 October, Iraqi security forces reportedly discovered the bodies of 70 civilians inside houses in Tuloul Naser Village which is located in the same sub-district, some 35 kilometres south of Mosul City. “The bodies had bullet wounds, but it is not known for sure at this point who was responsible for the killings,” according to the UN Human Rights Office.

On 22 October, ISIS militants shot dead three women and three young girls, and wounded a further four children from Rufeila, a village in the al-Qayyarah sub-district south of Mosul.

“The victims were allegedly shot because they were trailing some 100 meters behind a group of other people from the same village who were being forced by ISIL to relocate to another sub-district,” the OHCHR spokesperson said. “The victims were lagging behind because one of the children had a disability,” and, “she was apparently amongst those shot and killed.”

On Sunday, ISIS reportedly killed 50 former Iraqi Police Officers that they had been holding outside of Mosul City.

“We very much fear that these will not be the last such reports we receive of such barbaric acts by ISIS,” Coalville said. “We repeat our call on Government forces and their allies to ensure their fighters do not take revenge on any of the civilians who escape from areas under ISIS control, and treat all suspected ISIS fighters they capture in accordance with international humanitarian law.”

This comes as the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Iraqi Army troops, backed by the US-led coalition, continued military operations against ISIS in Mosul, in northwestern Iraq, for the second week.

2 ISIS operatives detained in Baqubah

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – Diyala Police Command announced on Tuesday arresting two senior leaders of the Islamic State in central Baqubah, and pointed out that the two leaders fled from the city of Mosul.

Spokesman for Diyala Police Command, Colonel Ghalib Attiya, said in a press statement, “Forces from Diyala emergency regiments and the Ministry of Interior’s intelligence managed, this morning, to arrest two senior leaders of ISIS during a security operation in al-Tahrir area, in central Baqubah.”

“The two leaders escaped from the city of Mosul after the security forces started the military battles to liberate Nineveh Province,” Attiya explained. “The operation was carried out based on accurate intelligence information,” Attiya added.

The ISIS and other armed group imposed their control over the province of Diyala, after capturing the cities of Mosul and Tikrit, but the security forces and al-Hashd al-Shaabi managed to liberate some of these areas.

Iraqi kops stop suicide bombing in Baqubah

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – Diyala Police Command announced on Tuesday foiling a suicide attack on the eastern checkpoint, northeast of Baqubah, and pointed out that the suicide bomber was holding a false identity.

Diyala Police Chief, Major General Jassim al-Saadi, said in a press statement, “Security forces managed, this morning, to monitor a suicide bomber while taking a taxi and moving toward the eastern checkpoint in Qura Tabba area, northeast of Baqubah,” pointing out that, “The forces from the checkpoint shot the suicide bomber who tried to flee, killing him on the spot.”

“The suicide bomber was holding a false identity issued from Rusafa Civil Status Directorate,” Saadi explained. “The vigilance of our forces prevented the terrorist from achieving his goal and detonating himself near security forces and civilians,” Saadi added.

The ISIS and other armed group, such as Army of the Men of the Naqshbandi Order, imposed their control over the province of Diyala, after capturing the cities of Mosul and Tikrit, but the security forces and al-Hashd al-Shaabi managed to liberate some of these areas.

More on Rutba fighting from Arab News
BAGHDAD: Iraqi forces backed by US-led coalition airstrikes battled Daesh militants for a third day on Tuesday in a remote western town, hundreds of kilometers to the south of the operation to retake the northern city of Mosul, US and Iraqi officials said.

The clashes underway in Rutba, in Iraq’s western Anbar province, are apparently part of the extremist group’s tactics to divert attention — as well as Iraqi and coalition resources — from the battle to retake Mosul from Daesh militants.

“Fighting is ongoing in Rutba, which is still contested,” said Col. John Dorrian, a spokesman for the US-led coalition.

“The coalition continues conducting strikes to support the Iraqi security forces’ response efforts, including one against a Daesh convoy that was attempting to flee the area,” he added.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool, an Iraqi military spokesman, said the situation was under control and there were no Daesh fighters in the town. But Rajeh Barakat, an Anbar provincial councilman who sits on the security committee, said Daesh fighters were still clashing with security forces in two southern neighborhoods of Rutba.

“The clashes are still ongoing,” he said. “We have reports saying the militants killed some civilians and members of the security forces, but we don’t know how many.”

"To be honest, our life (under IS) was good,” said Shaheen, a 55-year old with white beard. “There was justice. There were clear principles — such as don’t shave your beard and pray in the mosque...etc— if you don’t violate them no one will (bother) you,” he added.
Daesh launched a complex attack on Rutba on Sunday, almost a week into the operation in Mosul, where US-backed Iraqi forces are waging a wide-scale offensive to drive the militants from Iraq’s second-largest city.

Last week IS launched a similar assault in and around the northern city of Kirkuk, some 170 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Mosul. The wide-ranging assault ignited gunbattles that lasted two days, killing at least 80 people.

Near Mosul, the fighting was still underway on Tuesday in a belt of villages and towns to the north, east and south of the city. Maj. Gen. Haider Fadhil said the Iraqi special forces had reached a village located 6 kilometers (4 miles) from the eastern edge of Mosul.

Also Tuesday, around 335 civilians were evacuated to a refugee camp from the village of Tob Zawa, about 9 kilometers (5½ miles) from Mosul, which was retaken by special forces on Monday, Fadhil added. He said the civilians were evacuated to protect them from possible Daesh shelling.

Among them was Ezzat Shaheen, who drove his car along with his wife and some of his 10 children. Others were left behind to take care of their land and cattle.

“To be honest, our life (under IS) was good,” said Shaheen, a 55-year old with white beard. “There was justice. There were clear principles — such as don’t shave your beard and pray in the mosque...etc— if you don’t violate them no one will (bother) you,” he added.

Shaheen said he was able to sell his cattle and crops in the village or in Mosul without any problems, and that in return, he paid Daesh Zakat, an obligatory annual payment made by Muslims under Islamic law on certain kinds of property.

“Government-run schools were closed, but (IS-run) religious ones were open, and we had no clinic in the village, but we could go to Mosul for treatment,” he said, adding when Daesh overran the village more than two years ago, they only registered their weapons and allowed them to keep, but Iraqi troops seized them.

The US-led coalition said it carried out several airstrikes in support of the Mosul operation, including five on Monday that destroyed 22 fighting positions, eight tunnels and nine vehicles, one of which was rigged with explosives.

The US is also providing ground support for the Mosul operation, with more than 100 American soldiers embedded with Iraqi units and hundreds more working in staging bases. A US soldier was killed by a roadside bomb last week.

Battle for Mosul: ISIS mines bridges over Tigris

and have called for reinforcements from Raqqa, several media reports have suggested.

US-backed Iraqi forces fought their way inside two villages on Monday as they crept closer to Mosul a week into an offensive to retake the ISIS-held city, but they also faced questions over a suspected Arclight airstrike on a mosque that killed 13 people.

Until now, most of the fighting has been in largely uninhabited towns and villages, but Iraqi special forces found more than 70 civilians sheltering in Tob Zawa.

They will encounter many more civilians as they get closer to Mosul, still home to more than one million people.

ISIS has suffered a series of setbacks in the past year, and Mosul is its last major urban bastion in Iraq.

Kurds capture village near Mosul

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Kurdish Peshmerga forces managed to liberate a village in the area of Nuran, northeast of Mosul, after days of siege, Al Mada Press reported on Tuesday.

The Iraqi media outlet stated, “This morning, Kurdish Peshmerga forces managed to liberate Khorsabad village in Nuran area, northeast of Mosul, from the ISIS control.”

“The security forces besieged the village for several days before storming into it,” Al Mada added. “The military engineering brigades started to dismantle the improvised explosive devices left by the ISIS in the village,” Al Mada explained.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced in 17 October 2016, launching the battle to liberate the city of Mosul from the control of ISIS. The ISIS imposed its control on the city of Mosul in June 2014, and then extended its terrorist activities to other areas of Iraq.

have killed over 60 civilians and maimed over 200 more over the past few days.

Lieutenant General Sergei Rudskoi, chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces made the announcement on Tuesday.

"During the past three days more than 60 civilians, including children, became victims of these air strikes. More than 200 people were maimed," he said.

He added that Russia is closely monitoring the situation in Mosul and has so far seen no major success in the coalition’s operations to liberate the city, he added.

"At the same time there are numerous facts of the US-led coalition’s air strikes against residential quarters, schools and other civil infrastructure buildings both in Mosul and in other settlements in the Iraq’s Nineveh governorate," he added.

"A United States Air Force plane delivered an Arclight airstrike on the a-Hajj Yunus school for girls in southern Mosul on October 21. On the following day, air strikes hit living quarters in the settlements of Qaraqosh 20 kilometers east of Mosul and Hazna 15 kilometers east of Mosul," he added.

He also stressed that ISIS forces of Evil are continuing to flee Iraq and enter Syria, adding that so far 300 Takfiri

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced during a presser that Iraqi forces have reached an advanced stage in the battle for Mosul.

"We reached an advanced stage in the battle to liberate the city of Mosul, and our plan is not to evacuate the families from the cities during the liberation operations," he added.

He added that Iraqi forces have proved their capability to defend Iraqi towns and cities against the Takfiri forces of Evil surprise attacks.

"The international coalition is surprised by the performance of the Iraqi army in the war on ISIS, and we must continue training the security forces and restructuring them away from sectarianism," he added.

Since the beginning of the operations, the Iraqi army, backed by volunteer forces, has been engaged in a large military offensive to cleanse Mosul of ISIS terrorists. The city fell in 2014 when the terror group started ravaging the country, naming Mosul as its so-called headquarters in Iraq.

15-year-old Arab-Israeli killed on Egyptian border
Sometimes bad things happen to good people.
[Ynet] Victim, shot while carrying out reinforcement work on the security fence between Israel and Egypt, succumbs to wounds sustained after an Egyptian border policeman allegedly opened fire in an apparent misunderstanding; Israeli investigation rules out potential terror attack and border smuggling as cause of gunshots; victim's father holds IDF responsible.

A 15-year-old contractor working for the defense ministry was killed Tuesday afternoon after sustaining at least one gunshot wound while carrying out reinforcement work on the fence on the Israel-Egypt border.

The fire appears to have emanated from Egyptian territory, and hit in the Mt. Harif area of the Israeli Negev. A joint investigation carried out by IDF officers and their counterparts in Egypt revealed that the victim, later identified as Nimer Bassem Abu Amar from the Bedouin town of Lakiya, had been accidentally shot for reasons which remain unclear.

Malaysian terrorist captured in Basilan
[PhilStar] The Philippine military has confirmed that a Malaysian terrorist aiding the Abu Sayyaf was arrested recently. Col. Cirilo Donato said the Malaysian militant was captured early this month at the port of Maluso town while trying to sneak back into Malaysia.

Donato did not name the suspect, who is in the custody of military intelligence. He said the suspect was tracked down with tips from civilians who saw him in a former Abu Sayyaf camp in Barangay Baguindan, Tipo-Tipo that the military captured in August. He was reportedly armed and bearing Daesh's ‘shahada’ flag.

Donato said, "When he was arrested, it seemed he was about to leave the country because he was seen in the area where there were motorboats plying the southern backdoor in Maluso."

He said the military is checking if the suspect may have been training the Abu Sayyaf in bomb-making because he was caught with materials for improvised explosive devices.

The military is attempting to verify the reported presence of two Saudi nationals believed to be hiding with the Abu Sayyaf in Basilan. Donato said there are persistent reports about the two but no solid evidence.

Meanwhile, military officials believe senior Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon is running out of hiding places in Basilan after 32 Abu Sayyaf militants surrendered to authorities. Hapilon, who is the remaining leader of the four most notorious Abu Sayyaf chiefs wanted by the U.S. government for kidnapping and killing of American citizens, has remained elusive since 2000.

Syrian rebels begin operation isolating Raqqa
[ARA News] Damascus – The US-led coalition has launched a new military operation in northern Syria aimed at isolating the ISIS-held city of Raqqa. The coalition started “laying the groundwork” for the operation, US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said on Tuesday.

“We have already begun laying the groundwork for our partners to commence the isolation of Raqqa,” Carter said, in reference to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and other allied groups.

This comes as the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Iraqi Army troops, backed by the US-led coalition, continued military operations against ISIS in Mosul, in northwestern Iraq, for the second week.

Raqqa is ISIS’ de facto capital in Syria, while Mosul is the group’s de facto capital in Iraq. As the joint Iraqi-Kurdish assault on Mosul has intensified, ISIS started to fortify its headquarters in Raqqa.

“Today we resolved to follow through with that same sense of urgency and focus on enveloping and collapsing ISIS’ control of Raqqa,” Carter said.

Carter and ministers from 12 other countries attended talks in Paris on Tuesday.

“There will be some simultaneity to these two operations [in Mosul and Raqqa],” the US Defense Chief said earlier on Sunday.

In the meantime, ISIS has started to tighten its security measures in the city of Raqqa since last Wednesday. According to eyewitnesses and activists, the extremist group has imposed a curfew in the city centre, installed new checkpoints and erected concrete road blocks. There has also been a two-week-long state of alert amongst ISIS jihadists.

“ISIS erected barriers between major districts of Raqqa city,” media activist Abdulkarim al-Yousef told ARA News in Raqqa. “New security checkpoints have been installed across the city, including near the al-Naeem Roundabout, al-Muhafaza Square, Saad Bin Muaz Mosque and al-Zedan Square.”

An unnamed military source told Syria’s official news agency SANA that Syrian soldiers and their allies stormed the terrorists’ lairs in the Ma’an Village, and seized al-Madajen, al-Burj, Dhahra al-Fots, and Tal Khirbat Kahilah regions on Tuesday.

The source added that scores of foreign-backed holy warriors were killed in the offensives. A cannon, three mortar rounds and a considerable amount of kabooms were confiscated as well.

The Takifiri Sham Legion terrorist outfit also announced that one of its military commanders, identified only as Shirikhan, had been killed in a confrontation with government forces in the same Syrian province.

Additionally, Syrian military forces foiled an attempt by Takfiri terrorists, who were trying to sneak into the Lajah region of the southwestern province of Dara’a from the Badiya desert.

Dozens of holy warriors were killed or injured during the failed bid.
