[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu has claimed that the terror groups are moving to Afghanistan from Syria as he emphasizes on bolstering the capabilities of the Uzbekistan security forces.
Shoigu reportedly made the remarks during his meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Abdusalom Azizov.
Emphasizing that military cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan is totally specific and important, Shoigu said "It refers, first and foremost, to the risks and threats coming from areas bordering Uzbekistan."
"In this regard, one cannot but point to the growing threat of international terrorism that has been moving from Syria to other countries, including Uzbekistan," he was quoted as saying by TASS News Agency.
"We cannot say that the situation in Afghanistan is getting safer and more stable as groups leaving Syria are particularly moving to Afghanistan. That said, it is highly important to train the military that would be able to protect the state in case the need arises," the Russian defense minister said.
This comes as reports emerged earlier suggesting that the ISIS holy warriors are attempting to travel to Afghanistan from Syria and Iraq.

[DAWN] IS fighters in Afghanistan are making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from illegal mining of talc, much of which ends up in the United States and Europe, advocacy group Global Witness reported on Tuesday.
About 500,000 tonnes of talc, used in products ranging from paint to baby powder, were exported from Afghanistan in the year to March, according to Afghan mining ministry figures cited in the group’s report.
Almost all went to Pakistain, where much of it is re-exported. Pakistain provides more than a third of US imports of talc and much also ends up in the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... , it said.
"Unwitting American and European consumers are inadvertently helping fund holy warrior groups in Afghanistan," Nick Donovan, Campaign Director at Global Witness, said in a statement, calling for stronger checks on imports.

They apparently can’t record either.
[IsraelTimes] Amid widening rift with Paleostinians, US says it will examine Ramallah's accession to several bodies, in a move officials described as 'counterproductive'
The United States is considering whether to cut funding to two UN agencies and the chemical weapons watchdog after the Paleostinians joined the organizations, a US official said Wednesday.
In a move aimed at boosting their international profile, the Paleostinians have joined the UN trade development organization UNCTAD, industrial development agency UNIDO and the Chemical Weapons Convention which is upheld by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
US legislation bars funding for UN agencies or affiliates that grant membership to Paleostine, which has the status of a non-member observer state at the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... .
"It has been the consistent position of the United States that efforts by the Paleostinians to join international organizations are premature and counterproductive," a US official said.
"We will review the application of US legislative restrictions related to Paleostinian membership in certain UN agencies and organizations," the official added.
The Paleostinian move comes amid a rift with President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... ’s administration over its decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The Paleostinians want to make East Jerusalem the capital of their future state.
Last week, citing the US embassy move to Jerusalem, Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial... recalled the Paleostinian envoy to Washington Tuesday, marking a new low in already frayed ties between Ramallah and the White House.
Paleostinians froze contacts with US officials in December over the recognition of Jerusalem, saying the move exposed Washington’s pro-Israel bias and rejecting it as a mediator.
Nickolay Mladenov, the UN coordinator for the Middle East, told the Security Council that the Paleostinians had joined Geneva-based UNCTAD, Vienna-based UNIDO and the Chemical Weapons Convention last week.
The United States withdrew in 1996 from UNIDO, a little-known agency that promotes "inclusive and sustainable industrial development," according to its website.
The OPCW and UNCTAD rely on voluntary contributions from UN member-states to fund its activities as well as regular funding for its budget.
The United States withdrew some funding for UNESCO when the Paleostinians joined the cultural and education agency in 2011 and last year pulled out of the agency altogether.
The Trump administration has also cut funds to the UN Paleostinian refugee agency, leaving UNRWA struggling to fill a major budget gap for its education and health programs.
The Paleostinians angered Israel when they became a state-party to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2015.
Israel is vehemently opposed to Paleostinian recognition in world bodies ahead of a peace deal and has pursued intense diplomatic efforts to stop them.
The Paleostinian announcements at the UN came in the wake of a visit by Paleostinian officials Tuesday to the Hague-based International Criminal Court, where they urged its prosecutor to probe alleged war crimes committed against Paleostinians by Israel.
Paleostinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki said the complaint seeks an investigation into Israeli policies in the West Bank, Gazoo Strip, and East Jerusalem since the Paleostinians joined the ICC in June 2014.
Israel rejected the Paleostinian request as "cynical" and "absurd."
In response to Tuesday’s move at the ICC, Israel said it took a "severe view" of the Paleostinian request. It accused the Paleostinians of violent incitement against Israel and exploiting women and kiddies as human shields.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Vice President Nuri al-Maliki’s coalition intends to continue recent talks with kurdish political representatives regarding the formation of the next Iraqi government, his office said.
Hisham al-Rikabi, director of Maliki’s office, said in statements on Wednesday that the State of the Law coalition will launch a new phase of talks within the next couple of days with Kurdish political forces after a meeting between Maliki and a former Kurdish president, Masud Barzani, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, in Baghdad yesterday.
According to Rikabi, "the meeting between the head of the State of the Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, and the KDP delegation in Baghdad has resulted into resolving lots of past issues between both sides, as well as reaching understandings in relation to the formation of the largest parliamentary bloc".

Maliki’s list came forth according to the final outcome.
No list has ensured an outright majority, and according to the constitution, the new government should be announced before 90 days after the announcement of results.
Kurds, whose relations with the central government in Baghdad deteriorated since they voted for independence in September, are anxious to secure a place in the next government. Kurdish representatives have met with various political groups, including Shia holy manMoqtada Tater al-Sadr ... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah... , whose list came first in the polls.
Kurds have been at loggerheads with Maliki, a former prime minister who is widely blamed for stoking sectarianism and for Islamic State’s takeover of Iraqi territories by the end of his term in 2014.

Diyaa Assadi, who is a senior adviser to Iraqi holy man, al-Sadr said that "the US was still being seen as an occupying country."
Responding to the presence of American forces, he stressed that US troops would be dealt as occupying force until their full withdrawal from the country. "There are still troops in Iraq," he said.

[IsraelTimes] Yahya Sinwar, terror group's Gazoo leader, lauds 'strong, powerful and warm' relations with Iranian general thought behind recent rocket attack on Israeli troops from Syria
The leader of the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group in the Gazoo Strip has boasted about the large amounts of cash, equipment and expertise it has received from Iran and said the organization is in touch with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group in Leb "on an almost daily basis."
Speaking to Leb’s pro-Hezbollah al-Mayadeen TV channel on Monday, Yahya Sinwar also lauded the "strong, powerful and warm" ties Hamas enjoys with Qassem Soleimani , who heads the Islamic Revolutionary Guards’s Quds Force tasked with operations outside of Iran.
In excerpts from the interview, translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Sinwar claimed that Hamas had "greatly developed its capabilities" thanks to friends, "first and foremost the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran," which was giving "a lot of money, equipment and expertise" to the group’s military arm, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, as well as to other factions in the coastal enclave.
"We have excellent relations with our brothers in Hezbollah," he went on. "Our relations with them are extremely developed. We work together and coordinate and are in touch on an almost daily basis. The relations are at the best stage ever."
"Similarly, our ties with the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran, with brother Qassem Soleimani and the other brothers in the IRGC leadership, are very strong, powerful and warm."
Asked by the interviewer whether Hamas would provide Israel with "unprecedented surprises" if it attacked the Strip, Sinwar said, "Absolutely."
[PRESSTV] The Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... resistance movement has warned that it will target Tel Aviv in case the Israeli regime presses ahead with its acts of aggression against the impoverished and besieged Gazoo Strip.
Islamic Jihad front man Daoud Shihab said on Wednesday that Israel is desperately looking for a military confrontation with the resistance movement as a way out of the current impasse it has faced in the wake of the recent "Great March of Return" protests.
Shihab added that the latest Israeli Arclight airstrikes on several sites in the Gazoo Strip point to the Tel Aviv regime’s defeat, failure and helplessness in the face of the voice of truth, which is more powerful than the terrorism being waged by Israel.
He stressed that the Islamic Jihad resistance movement is fully prepared for any Israeli military aggression, warning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of his cabinet that Tel Aviv will get bombed if they continue their aggressive policies towards the Gazoo Strip and its residents.
"We have the ability to carry out such a thing. We have nothing to lose. No one will then have the right to hold us responsible for the escalation. At that time, Netanyahu will not be able to continue with his deception to justify his failures," Shihab pointed out.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli fighter jets destroyed a Paleostinian boat in Gazoo seaport that was supposed to welcome an international flotilla hoping to break the decade-long Israeli blockade on the coastal sliver.

[PRESSTV] The United Nations ...a formerly good idea gone bad... Middle East envoy has stressed that "Gazoo is on the verge of collapse."
Nikolay Mladenov gave the warning while addressing the UN Security Council on Wednesday, where he called for urgent action to relieve the suffering of Gazoo's "increasingly desperate" people.
He added that people of Gazoo were living with "crippling Israeli closures and with diminishing hopes for an end to the occupation and a political solution."
"Gazoo's infrastructure teeters on the verge of total collapse, particularly its electricity and water networks as well as its health system," he noted.
Mladenov further called on the international community to join "in condemning in the strongest possible terms the actions that have led to the loss of so many lives in Gazoo" since March.
Israeli forces killed at least 62 Paleostinians during protests near the Gazoo fence on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Nakba Day (Day of Catastrophe), which coincided with Washington’s embassy relocation from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.
More than 2,700 Paleostinians were also maimed as the Israeli forces used snipers, Arclight airstrikes, tank fire and tear gas to target the demonstrators.

Maybe he's so upset because he doesn't have an umbrella?
[PRESSTV] Syria’s deputy foreign minister has hailed Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement’s assistance to Damascus in its counter-terrorism fight, saying the pair’s withdrawal from the Arab country is not up for discussion.
"This topic is not even on the agenda of discussion, since it concerns the illusory sovereignty of Syria. We cannot let anyone even raise this issue," Faisal Mekdad told Russia’s Sputnik news agency on Wednesday.
He also said that those who demanded the pullout of the Iranian military advisers and Hezbollah forces from Syria "are considering the possibility of intervention in all parts of Syria, including the support of snuffies in Syria and elsewhere in the region."
Iran offers Syria advisory military support in its fight against terrorism. Hezbollah forces have also been aiding the Syrian government clear areas bordering Leb from terrorist groups.
On Monday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo threatened Iran with the "strongest sanctions in history" if it does not comply with a list of 12 US demands, including the withdrawal of "all forces under Iranian command throughout the entirety of Syria."

[PRESSTV] Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution ...Iran's doddering head theocrat... Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei ...the successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and the actual dictator of Iran... says US enmity with Iran is deep but all American plots against the country have failed since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
During a meeting with heads of the three branches of the Iranian government as well as officials in Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to what he called "the fundamental, deep and constant enmity" of the United States towards the Islamic Theocratic Republic and said Iran would definitely defeat the US if Iranian officials fulfill their duty.
"From the beginning of the [victory of the Islamic] Revolution to the present day, the United States has carried out various types of hostilities to undermine the Islamic Theocratic Republic and has organized various types of political, economic, military and propaganda activities against it," the Leader said.
