Violence as Migrants Storm Morocco-Spain Border Fence
A regular occurrence. Reportedly they are caught pretty quickly, as apparently there aren't that many places to hide in the enclave.
[AnNahar] Some 400 migrants colonists from sub-Saharan Africa reached Spain Thursday after storming a double barrier between Morocco and the Spanish territory of Ceuta, with some attacking security forces with quicklime, police said.

The scramble over the barrier is the biggest in Ceuta since February 2017, when more than 850 migrants colonists entered the overseas territory over four days.

It comes as Spain becomes the number one destination for migrants colonists crossing the Mediterranean by boat, surpassing Italia with 19,586 arrivals so far this year, according to the International Organization for Migration.

A front man for the Guardia Civil police force in Ceuta told AFP the migrants colonists managed to climb over the double barrier, which is covered in small blades, early on Thursday morning.

They scrambled over "all of a sudden, with much violence," and some attacked police with quicklime they had in tubes and bottles.

As a result, "more than a dozen police" were maimed, four of whom had to go to hospital for burns in the face and arms.

Isabel Brasero, spokeswoman for the Red Thingy, said they had to attend to 30 migrants colonists with injuries, none serious.

Eleven of them were taken to hospital for stitches and possible fractures, she added.

She said that after they had climbed over the barrier, they ran to the centre that houses migrants colonists once they arrive in Spanish territory.

Ceuta and Melilla, another Spanish territory on Morocco's northern border, have the EU's only land borders with Africa, which is why many migrants colonists try to reach them.

#1  Interesting. I had never wandered google sat maps in Ceuta before. Quite a bit of area is shaded and blurred like extreme dark clouds. It is obviously the Spanish counterpart for Britain's Gibraltar. Both control access to/from the Med.

No. They’ve been doing this irregularly for some time, Shake. Wikioedia has an article here. We have plenty of reports of this kind of thing in the archives.

Houthi forces claim 3 airstrikes hit Abu Dhabi Airport
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
forces launched their first ever attack on the Abu Dhabi International Airport, today, targeting one of the installation’s large terminals.

Using their Sammad-3 type drone, the Houthi rocket battalion struck the Abu Dhabi Airport at least three times on Thursday, the group claimed.

The Houthi forces claimed that their attack had disrupted the air traffic at the Abu Dhabi Airport; however, the latter’s official Twitter account denied any disruption.

"Abu Dhabi Airports can confirm that there has been an incident involving a supply vehicle in Terminal 1 airside area of the airport at approximately 4:00 pm today. This incident has not affected operations at AUH and flights continue to arrive and depart as scheduled," the Abu Dhabi International Airport’s official Twitter account tweeted this afternoon.

This attack by the Houthi forces marks the first time that any foreign entity has bombed the United Arab Emirates.

Police press charges against Faizul, five others over attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal
[Dhaka Tribune] Police have pressed charges against six people, including the main accused Faizul Hasan Foyez, in a case over the attack on eminent writer Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal on the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus in Sylhet.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Assistant Commissioner (Prosecution) Amulya Kumar Chowdhury submitted the 353-page charge sheet to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Haridas Pal on Thursday afternoon, nearly five months after the attack.

Confirming the matter, Amulya said he submitted the charge sheet to court after Jalalabad police station OC Shafiqul Islam, also the case investigation officer, handed it over at noon.

“The court has taken the charge sheet into cognisance, but is yet to accept it or give any ruling,” he added.

The other five accused are Faizul's father Hafez Maulana Atiqur Rahman, mother Minara Begum, brother Md Enamul Hasan, uncle Md Fazlur Rahman and friend Md Sohag Mia, who police say had played roles – directly and indirectly – in the incident.

All six accused have been arrested and are now behind bars.

At least 60 people were also named as witnesses in the charge sheet.

On Wednesday, SMP’s Additional Commissioner Paritosh Ghosh also told reporters, based on photographs of the crime scene, CCTV camera footages, mobile phone call list and other evidences, they had confirmed that Faizul alone had planned and carried out the attack on Prof Iqbal to kill him.

In the afternoon of March 3, Faizul had swooped on the renowned academician and stabbed him with a knife during a program at SUST’s Mukta Mancha.

The madrasa student was, however, caught immediately by the students present there and handed over to police after a severe thrashing.

Faizul later confessed under Section 164 of the Penal Code that he had attacked the famous author as he considered Prof Zafar Iqbal, who also teaches at SUST's Computer Science and Engineering Department, an “atheist” and “enemy of Islam.”

Police said Faizul had planned to kill Prof Iqbal three to four months before the attack and had been looking for a chance.

The SUST authorities had filed the attempt to murder case with Jalalabad police a day after the attack.

After being stabbed on the back of his head, left arm and back, Zafar Iqbal was first admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, and later shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

He made a full recovery having being treated there for over a week, and returned full-time to SUST on April 2.

3 ‘drug dealers’ killed in Chittagong 'gunfight'
The RAB police blotter reporters have become more efficient over time, but they still follow the same script.
[Dhaka Tribune] Three suspected drug peddlers
...miscreants only a mother could love, and sometimes nit even them...
have been killed
...of course...
in what the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) described as a shootout in Chittagong’s Khulshi area.
...previously referred to as an encounter, and before that as a crossfire...
RAB identified two of the dear departed as Zakir Hossain, 31, and Dalim Sheikh, 29.
...respectable two-namers both, but completely lacking in aliases. This suggests a certain lack of seriousness...
.The shootout took place around 3:30am,
...all proper shootouts/crossfires/encounters take place at O dark thirty, when respectable citizens are fast asleep...
on Thursday, at Khulshi rail crossing,
...a suitably plebian location...
said RAB 7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Mimtanur Rahman.
Whoa! The RAB now has enough staff to allow for specialization!
He said they were tipped off
*Ring, ring* “Mahmoud the Weasel, here. Look out for a black Skoda stuffed full of miscreants and their drugs. You can leave my oay undre the usual rock — my middle grandson’s fourth daughter needs braces.”
that a private car carrying narcotics was heading to Chittagong from Comilla.

"A RAB patrol team signalled the car to pull over but the drug pushers fired at RAB members from the vehicle,
Why, oh why do the idiots always shoot first, forcing the RAB to respond?
triggering a skirmish," Mimtanur said.
...during which the miscreants completely missed hitting anything at all...
"Three bodies were later recovered from the spot along with 120kg cannabis, two firearms, and bullets," the RAB official said.
The teo firearms and bullets will be cleaned and polished by the newest trainee, then returned to their velvet-lined boxes in Sgt. Siddique’s future-evidence room. The car, however, disappeared as if it had never been.
The bodies have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsies.
“Paging Dr. Quincy. Dr. Quincy to the white courtesy phone.”
More than a hundred suspected drug pushers have been killed since the government launched an anti-narcotics drive in May.
The RAB is nothing if not incorruptible and terrifyingly efficient.

(ISIS) member had committed more crimes in Syria.

According to a report from the News Agency that Dare Not be Named, Nils D., 27, is facing charges of torture and murder for his time with the Islamic State in northern Syria.

Citing court documents, the AP reported that the ISIS member is facing a second trial for torturing prisoners at a terrorist-controlled prison in Manbij, Aleppo.

The ISIS member was previously sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for joining the terrorist group, but now he is facing much worse charges, which include the murder of three people.

The German authorities seized the man upon his return to Germany in 2015; he was said to be in Syria for nearly two years before traveling back.

Turkey Arrests German National over PKK Propaganda
[AnNahar] Ottoman Turkish authorities placed in durance vile
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
a German national over making terror propaganda for outlawed Kurdish murderous Moslems, local media reported late Wednesday.

The German man was detained on Wednesday by police in the southern province of Hatay and then charged later in the day, DHA news agency said.

No details were given by the agency about the man except naming him as Dennis E.

He is accused of spreading terror propaganda on social media for the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has fought an insurgency against the Ottoman Turkish state since 1984.

The PKK is blacklisted as a terror group by Ankara and its Western allies.

Diplomatic tensions mounted between Ankara and Berlin over the crackdown that followed the July 2016 failed coup and the state of emergency during which several German nationals were also imprisoned. The two-year state of emergency ended last week.

But following the release of several German nationals including the German-Ottoman Turkish journalist Deniz Yucel earlier this year, the strains have eased somewhat.

Last week, Germany lifted economic sanctions on The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and relaxed its travel advice to the country, removing a warning on its website about its nationals facing a high risk of arrest when visiting Turkey.

Incendiary balloons spark fire next to pool in Gaza-area community
[IsraelTimes] A pair of incendiary balloons apparently launched from the Gazoo Strip landed inside an Israeli community near the Paleostinian enclave on Thursday.

The balloons, which landed near the community pool, started a small fire that was quickly extinguished by volunteer firefighters, the Eshkol Regional Council said.

There was no damage or injuries caused as a result of the blaze.

Hadashot TV news reported that residents of the community spotted the balloons as they landed and were thus able to quickly alert the firefighters, who prevented the fire from spreading.

Earlier Thursday, firefighters were called to extinguish a blaze along the Gazoo border that they said was caused by an incendiary balloon launched from the Strip.

ISIS executes captured Syrian soldiers after devastating terrorist attack in Sweida

" (ISIS/ISIS/ISIS) executed several soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) in the al-Sweida Governorate yesterday.

The terrorist group’s official media wing released photos of their fighters marching the Syrian soldiers to an unknown desert area before they summarily executed.

This move by the Islamic State came shortly after they carried out a devastating terrorist attack that left more than 250 people dead, including many women and kiddies.

In response to this deadly attack by the Islamic State, the residents of al-Sweida publicly hanged three captured members of the terrorist group for taking part in this massacre.

Furthermore, the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces launched a massive attack in the desert of northeast al-Sweida.

This large-scale attack by the Syrian Army and NDF resulted in the liberation of several areas, including the town of Douma.

Scores of Islamic State bad boyz were potted during the Syrian Army’s attack, as the latter continued pushing deeper into the Badiya al-Sham region of al-Sweida.

Syrian Army overruns ISIS in southwest Syria, recaptures town and hilltop
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Army finally managed to recapture the strategic Tall Jomou’ hilltop along with Jalin town, located in the west countryside of Daraa province.

The recent advance was achieved after days of non-stop artillery and rocket shelling, as well as effective airstrikes conducted by Syrian and Russian air force.

A military source confirmed that ISIS sustained heavy losses and could no more withstand the intensity of incessant bombing and aerial bombardment.

On June, 2014, several FSA-linked rebel groups launched a massive attack on the hilltop after previously taking over al-Harra hilltop.

Syrian Army raises flag over Al-Quneitra for first time in 4 years
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has officially raised their national flag over the placid provincial capital of the al-Quneitra Governorate for the first time since they lost the city in 2014.

According to a field report, the Syrian Arab Army units in the al-Quneitra Governorate entered the placid provincial capital after the rebel forces left the city this week.

The Syrian Army has already moved their forces to the border of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, where they set up new posts along the demilitarized zone in this region.

Furthermore, the Syrian Army also entered the town of al-Qahtaniyah after the rebels left the area for northern Syria.

Below is a video of the Syrian Army raising their national flag over the placid provincial capital of al-Qunietra.
