Afghanistan
Ghani forms 12-member team to negotiate with Taliban
[DAWN] Afghan President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
has formed a 12-strong team to negotiate peace with the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
, but implementation of any deal will take at least five years, he said on Wednesday.

He was speaking at a UN conference on the 17-year-old war between Afghan cops and an increasingly confident Taliban, who are fighting to drive out international forces and establish their version of Islamic law.

The Taliban are not at the Geneva talks but will be closely monitoring the gathering of Afghan leaders and international diplomats, which coincides with efforts by US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s administration to push for peace with the group.

"We seek a peace agreement in which the Afghan Taliban would be included in a democratic and inclusive society," Mr Ghani said, adding that any deal must fulfil certain conditions, including respecting the constitutional rights of women.

The president, facing a war-weary public back home, called upon Afghans to back his peace push in an election next April. "Presidential elections in the spring are key to successful peace negotiations. The Afghan people need an elected government with a mandate to obtain ratification [and] implement the peace agreement and lead the societal reconciliation process," he said.

"Implementation will take a minimum of five years to reintegrate six million refugees and internally displaced people," he said.

The two-day Geneva gathering is intended to help resolve the quagmire created by the war, a development that would pave way for the withdrawal of foreign troops.

Tunisia’s National Security Council to investigate Ennahda’s ‘secret apparatus’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Tunisia’s National Security Council on Thursday will open the file on the secret apparatus of the Ennahda Movement Party.

The party is set to stand accused of involvement in the liquidations of political opponents Chokri Belaid and Mohammed Brahmi in 2013, further increasing pressure on Ennahda which has been in a tenuous situation since Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi declaration to sever ties with the party.

The move comes as the judicial system continues to look into information and documents indicating that Ennahda has a secret apparatus operating in parallel with the state and directly involved in the murder of its opponents in 2013, when the party was in power.

NileSat takes Yemeni Ansarullah-linked al-Masirah TV channel off air
[PRESSTV] Egyptian satellite company NileSat has reportedly taken Yemeni Arabic-language al-Massirah television channel off air for affiliation to the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. Ansarullah movement, which has been fighting the Saudi-led military aggression against the impoverished Arab country over the past few years.

Nilesat cut the broadcast of the Leb-based TV station on Wednesday evening. Technicians scrambled to reprogram satellite receivers after the station switched its broadcast to Russia’s Express satellite provider.

The channel can now be received on Express AM44 (11° West), frequency: 11177 MHz, vertical polarization, symbol rate: 3000, FEC ¾. A Full HD receiver is needed to receive the channel.

The front man for the Yemeni Ansarullah movement later reacted to NileSat’s decision to drop al-Masirah.

Mohammed Abdul-Salam wrote on his official Twitter page that the decision by Egypt's regional satellite operator Nilesat to remove al-Masirah TV station from the airwaves is an illegal move.

"The Saudi-led aggressors cannot silence the channel. Nilesat’s decision is in line with the Saudi-led onslaught against Yemen. There are other options to counter this move. The measure confirms that we are on the right track, especially as invaders are preparing for major crimes in Yemen.

"The fact that the international community is talking about the establishment of peace in Yemen

is the result of public pressure. This explains why the Saudi-led coalition is trying to silence al-Masirah TV station. We will continue to expose the crimes of aggressors by any possible mean," Abdul-Salam pointed out.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating military campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the aim of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and crushing Ansarullah movement.

Khashoggi case: French historian Adler poses questions about Turkey, Qatar
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Writing in the French newspaper ‘Le Figaro’, French author and historian Alexandre Adler criticized the developments in the Jamal Khashoggi case.

The French writer began his article by stating: “There is a Latin saying that reads ‘Audiatur et alterapars’ which means that ‘you have to always listen to the opposing party’, yet this was not applied in the case of Khashoggi’s killing.

TURKISH INTELLIGENCE
He continued: “First and foremost, there is the problem of the ‘one witness is not a useful one’. All the detailed information revealed about Khashoggi’s murder within the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul came from a single source - the Turkish intelligence service.

“We are talking here about a security service that has been purged three times in the recent past and is fully subjected to the instructions of its commander Hakan Fidan. The latter was among those who organized the fake coup which led in just one day to the arrest of hundreds.”

The French journalist added: “It is evident that the credibility of the Turkish authorities’ immediate testimonies, and their deployment is an elaborate device that operates outside and within the Saudi consulate.”

In contrast, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman chose not to further delay and recognize the responsibility of the Saudi state in the killing of Khashoggi and to publicly apologize to one of the victim’s brothers.

He proceeded: ”It remains for us to see whether the Crown Prince, who is presented by some media without any evidence as the mastermind behind the killing, although it is irrational to order a crime to be committed by the State that would permanently harm the image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially at a time when the fruits of the Kingdom’s strategy to isolate Qatar without violence are ripe for the taking, including the beginning of Doha's retreat about terrorist organizations.”

THE PLOT
The French writer recalls the scenario of Khashoggi’s case, skeptically stating: “An improvisational style leading to the point of committing murder, without even thinking of the horrific question about getting rid of the body - all of it under Turkish Camera surveillance - and of course, the dramatic scenario of dismembering the victim’s body.”

As we know, Istanbul is a very busy and bustling city which makes it a potential place to commit and conceal a murder either by poisoning or a hit-and-run, away from the consulate, which leads to suspicions.

"Everything here points to a plot. We can even feel that that the real killing’s perpetrators have searched for all the fake assassination methods in the Islamic world to find the precedent in the 1966 case of the unfortunate Ibn Baraka.”

All the movements of Khashoggi in Istanbul were known to Saudi Arabia as well as to those who had every reason to seek revenge from Mohammed bin Salman like in an Agatha Christie novel.

"We are not talking here about the leaders of Qatar, who have started to seriously negotiate about a useful truce with Saudi Arabia.”

DO THE TURKS KNOW MORE?
Alexandre Adler added: “Everything happened as if Istanbul knew at least that something was going to happen at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.”

It is not necessary to assume that the Turks knew more about the motivations that led them to an intense vigilance in the three previous days.

Adler questioned: “Does Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood, which gained further strength in Turkey, along with its power broker, the Egyptian billionaire Khairat al-Shater,
...university lecturer in engineering, manufacturing tycoon, Muslim Brotherhood Number Two — its main financier and chief strategist....
have the best interest in wiping out the failures that have been plaguing them in recent weeks?”

Mattis: Pulling back US military support in Yemen would be misguided
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US Secretary of Defense James Mattis has said that pulling American military support in Yemen

and weapons sales to partners would be misguided.

Mattis’ statement came during his meeting with US senators in a closed briefing at Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

"It is in our interests to end the civil war, to counter Iranian influence and stop Iranian-supplied Houthi

and their civilian populations," Mattis was quoted as saying.

"Our withdrawal of limited military support would further remove any reason for the Arab coalition to hold up their operation against Hodeidah Port. Taken together, our disengagement and resultant loss of influence would have the opposite effect of mitigating the humanitarian crisis," Mattis added.

Mattis cautioned senators that it took the US "too long to get here" and that a change in American approach would work against U.N. Special Envoy Martin Griffiths’ efforts by breathing new life into the Houthis' combat operations, "just when they are reluctantly engaging with the UN interlocutor," he said.

#11  Iran, much like the Soviet Union until it disintegrated a generation ago, is engaged in covert and proxy wars around the world with two aims as far as I can tell: 1) to absorb all Muslim countries with a significant Shiite population, rebuilding the Persian Muslim empire of yore with the addition of Mecca and Medina, and 2) burrow into the underbelly of Dar al Harb, the House of War, in order to distract us from involvement in their activities over there, and to prepare the way for the “inevitable” conquest of the world for the Shiite version of Allah. Thus we have significant colonies of Iranians in America — apparently there are 900,000 Iranian passport holders in this country, an estimated third of whom are Muslim and some unknown number of whom have dual citizenship — the largest concentrations being in Los Angeles, New York City region, Washington DC region, Texas, and Chicago region. It is known that Iran has spies among them.

Likewise there are Iranian emigrant communities in Central and South America, likewise riddled with spies from the Iran Revolutionary Guard and Hizb’allah who have been forging connections with various Socialist governments as well as drug kingpins.

In my opnion, this is not about ego and empire building. It’s that we either engage Iran’s spies and proxies at home and around the world or we can close our eyes and wait to be conquered. ISIS and Al Qaeda are following an old script, not inventing a new one.

Cyber
US indicts Iranian hackers responsible for deploying 'SamSam' ransomware
It’s not clear from this whether the miscreants were acting on their own out of greed (Page 3: Non-WoT), or whether they are keyboard jihadis at the behest of their government or on their own (P. 2: WoT Background). Goodness knows we’ve had examples of all of the above in recent years.
[AlAhram] The United States on Wednesday indicted two Iranians for launching a major cyber attack using ransomware known as "SamSam" and sanctioned two others for helping exchange the ransom payments from Bitcoin digital currency into rials.

The 34-month long hacking scheme wreaked havoc on hospitals, schools, companies and government agencies, including the cities of Atlanta, Georgia, and Newark, New Jersey, causing over $30 million in losses to victims and allowing the alleged hackers to collect over $6 million in ransom payments.

The deployment of the SamSam ransomware represented some of the highest profile cyber attacks on U.S. soil, including one in 2016 that forced Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in Los Angeles to turn away patients and one last year that shut down Atlanta courts and much of its city government.

The six-count indictment, unsealed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, charges Iran-based Faramarz Shahi Savandi, 34, and Mohammad Mehdi Shah Mansouri, 27 with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit fraud related to computers, and other counts accusing them of intentionally damaging protected computers and illegally transmitting demands related to protected computers.

The Treasury Department said it had sanctioned Ali Khorashadizadeh and Mohammad Ghorbaniyan for exchanging digital ransomware payments into rials.

Neither Khorashadizadeh nor Ghorbaniyan were named in the indictment, though the indictment appeared to reference their activities.

"The allegations in the indictment unsealed today ‐ the first of its kind ‐ outline an Iran-based international computer hacking and extortion scheme that engaged in 21st-century digital blackmail," said Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczkowski, in announcing the criminal charges on Wednesday.

Rooters could not immediately locate the four Iranians named by the U.S. government, and it would likely be difficult to hold them accountable in a federal court because the United States does not have an extradition treaty with Iran.

Some cyber security experts said the actions are unlikely to have an impact because of that.

"These cases are mostly symbolic," said Leroy Terrelonge, an analyst with cyber intelligence firm Flashpoint.

Kimberly Goody, who manages financial crime analysis for cybersecurity firm FireEye, said the SamSam hackers might take a break to modify their operations to make them more difficult to identify and block.

"There may be a lull but I would expect them to continue," she said.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, however, said at a presser that he remains confident the suspects will be apprehended.

"American justice has a long arm and we will wait and eventually, we are confident that we will take these perpetrators into custody," he said.

According to the Treasury, the SamSam ransomware scheme targeted more than 200 victims.

The indictment, however, only named 12 of them.

In addition to Atlanta and Newark, other victims cited by the Justice Department included healthcare companies such as Laboratory Corporation of American Holdings and Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc as well as the Colorado Department of Transportation, Medstar Health, the port of San Diego, University of Calgary, Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital, Mercer County Business, Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and Kansas Heart Hospital.

Europe
Germany seeks dialogue with country's 4.5 million Muslims
[DAWN] The German government is reaching out to the country's 4.5 million Moslems by sitting down with community leaders, experts and imams to talk about improving their integration in the country.

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer opened the "German Islam Conference" on Wednesday saying the dialogue with Germany's Moslems will tackle their "beliefs, convictions and traditions ... and how they can be put in line with the culture and values rooted in German society".

Seehofer says training imams in Germany and ending financial support of mosques from abroad are two important goals.

He says the integration of the more than 1 million, mostly Moslem migrants colonists who have arrived in Germany since 2015 needs to be improved and asked that the migrants colonists contribute themselves by honoring Germany's basic values and learning the language.

In March this year, the interior minister had declared that Islam is "not part of Germany", setting off a political storm two days into Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
's fourth term.

In an interview with Germany's top-selling Bild Daily, when asked whether Islam now belonged to the fabric of the nation, given the influx of Moslem migrants colonists and asylum seekers over the past several decades, Seehofer had replied "no".

"Islam is not part of Germany. Christianity has shaped Germany including Sunday as a day of rest, church holidays, and rituals such as Easter, Pentecost and Christmas," he had said.

"The Moslems who live among us are naturally part of Germany. But that of course does not mean that we, out of a false sense of deference, should sacrifice our traditions and customs."

Merkel quickly contradicted her minister saying that despite Germany’s Judeo-Christian roots, more than four million Moslems now made their homes in the country.

Spanish fishing vessel stuck in Mediterranean for rescuing 12 migrants
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Spanish fishing vessel has been stranded in the Mediterranean for days because no country has agreed to accept the 12 migrants colonists on board which it rescued last week, the boat’s captain said Tuesday.

"We have been left in the lurch at sea, we can’t go anywhere," Captain Pascual Dura of the "Nuestra Madre Loreto" told AFP by telephone.

Since Thursday the 13 crew members of the fishing vessel have hosted 12 migrants colonists from Niger, Somalia, Sudan, Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
and Egypt who they rescued from a rubber dinghy that had set sail from Libya to Europe.

Italia and Malta have refused to allow the boat to dock and unload the migrants colonists while Spain’s maritime rescue service only offered to return the migrants colonists to Libya, Dura said.

"If we go to Libya, we run the risk of a mutiny... when they hear the word Libya they get very nervous and hysterical, it is hard to calm them down," he added.

"We don’t want to return them to Libya. After they managed to get here, we don’t want to return them to the place they are fleeing from."

Abuse of migrants colonists is widespread in Libya, following the chaos, which has reigned since the 2011 ousting of dictator Muammar Ghaddafi.

Many migrants colonists, intercepted or rescued at sea, find themselves held in detention centers in the country in dire conditions.

Dura said the ship only had enough provisions and fuel for "six or seven" more days and a storm was approaching.

Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Borrell confirmed that Italia and Malta refused to allow the fishing vessel to dock but added the situation "is not an emergency".

The fact that the Spanish fishing vessel was operating in Libyan waters "complicates the situation".

The regional government of Valencia, where the fishing vessel is based, offered to accept the migrants colonists.

In June the Valencia government also offered to accept 630 migrants colonists from the Aquarius charity-run rescue ship after Italia and Malta refused to harbor the vessel.

Spain then allowed the Aquarius to dock and the migrants colonists were distributed among several European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
nations.

More than 106,000 migrants colonists have arrived in Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
by sea since the start of the year, according to the International Organization for Migration, and at least 2,119 others have died in the process.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan: Intl. bodies failed Muslim world in Palestine issue
[PRESSTV] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
says international organizations have disappointed the Moslem world regarding the issue of Paleostine, urging freedom-seeking people to defend Paleostinian struggles against the Israeli regime's occupation.

Erdogan made the remarks in an address to the 34th meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul on Wednesday.

Moslems, Erdogan said, have pushed for solutions to the Paleostine issue and wars, but international organizations have disappointed them.

The Ottoman Turkish president, however, stressed the determination of the Islamic world to stand by the Paleostinian nation and said, "As long as Moslems and people defend justice and freedom, Paleostine will continue to exist."

He also vowed to encourage his nation to visit Jerusalem al-Quds "so occupiers will not dim the lights of the holy city."

The US recognized Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s "capital" last December and moved the American embassy to the occupied Paleostinian city in May.

"We should not fall into trap of those who give more weight to a drop of oil than a drop of blood," he added.

Elsewhere in his address, Erdogan called on Moslem countries to use national currencies in their transactions as an important step "for liberation from imperialist shackles."

He further noted that increasing trade among member states of the OIC’s economic cooperation committee makes them strong.

Turkey warns US of ‘action’ if support for YPG continues
[PRESSTV] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
has warned the United States of unspecified "action" if Washington refuses to stop supporting Kurdish holy warriors based in Syria.

"Turkey will take the necessary action if the US does not take into consideration Ankara’s security concerns regarding the continued arming of the YPG," President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
said at the Ottoman Turkish Parliament on Tuesday, the Ottoman Turkish Daily Sabah paper reported.

President Erdogan was referring to the US-backed People’s Protection Units, known as the YPG, which is a branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The PKK has been fighting a decades-long deadly war against Turkey for an independent state in the country’s southeast.

"The sole target of this terrorist group... is our country. We can no longer stand idle against this threat," Erdogan said.

Great White North
After 8 months at a Malaysian airport, Syrian refugee accepted in Canada
[IsraelTimes] Hassan al-Kontar had been in limbo due to visa issues with Kuala Lumpur and relied on donated airline meals; now he has landed in Vancouver to start a new chapter.

A Syrian refugee who spent months in limbo in a budget terminal at a Malaysian airport has arrived in Vancouver, after he was granted permanent residency by Canada, a government source and his lawyer said Tuesday.

Hassan al-Kontar’s plight became widely known after he shared posts on social media that showed him surviving on donated airline meals, washing and giving himself a haircut in the toilets at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s Terminal 2.

He had been stuck since March ‐ blocked from entering Malaysia because of visa issues and barred from traveling to other countries, and was detained last month by immigration officials.

After Kontar’s arrest, Malaysian officials had said they were going to work with Syrian authorities to deport him back to his war-torn homeland.

But Kontar’s lawyer Andrew Brouwer said they brought the Syrian back to the Kuala Lumpur airport on Monday before he was put on a Vancouver-bound flight.

Brouwer said his client was recognized by Canada as a refugee and was granted permanent residency under the country’s refugee sponsorship program.

"We were of course very pleased that Malaysia appeared to agree and abide by international law," he said.

Malaysia’s immigration office said in a statement Tuesday it had held talks "on the basis of concern and humanity... with the embassy of the country that agreed to receive his relocation," without naming Canada.

In Vancouver, he was greeted by Laurie Cooper, who, with the help of a group of residents in the ski resort of Whistler and the British Columbia Moslem Association, brought him to Canada and raised almost Can$15,000 for his fresh start.

Before climbing into a car and heading to Whistler, where a bed, fresh clothes and a hotel job were awaiting him, he whispered to himself: "I will be fine."

Kontar is not the only asylum seeker who has been left in limbo at an airport for a long period of time.

In 2015, an Iraqi family spent more than two months in an empty smoking cubicle in a Moscow airport, relying on passengers to bring them food and water.

India-Pakistan
PM Imran Khan says Pakistanis 'on one page' in seeking friendship with India
[PRESSTV] Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
says his ruling party and the country's influential military want to mend ties and resolve outstanding disputes with arch-foe India.

Khan made the remarks in a speech to open a new border crossing with India in the vast Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

province on Wednesday. The premier stated that his government and the army were both intent on establishing a "civilized relationship" with India.

"I the prime minister, my political party, the rest of our political parties, our army, all our institutions are all on one page. We want to move forward," Khan said, adding, "If India takes one step forward then we will take two steps forward towards friendship."
Making a strong case for peace, the Pak premier also pointed out that the Kashmire dispute can be resolved only through talks and a healthy respect for humanity.

The cricketer-turned-politician also asserted that only "fools" would speak of war between two nuclear-armed countries like India and Pakistain.

"Everybody loses in a nuclear war. Hatred will take us nowhere," he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Khan said that while there has been bad blood between the two countries for years, peace can come about as long as the stakeholders work towards it in all honesty.

"For 70 years, we have been fighting with each other... India points fingers at Pakistain, and Pakistain points fingers at India. There have been mistakes on both sides, but how long must we keep playing this blame-game? Every time we take one step forward, something happens to make us go back two steps," he added.

"We still do not have the resolve to decide that, no matter what, we must improve our ties," he said. "La Belle France and Germany, who have fought so many wars, are now living as neighbors. They have trade ties despite killing thousands of each other's people. But their leaders one day decided that we will break their shackles and they did."

The latest remarks by the premier appear to be another attempt to improve fractious relations with India.

Khan had earlier called on his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to engage in bilateral efforts to resolve outstanding disputes. Khan called for a meeting between the two nations' foreign ministers on the sidelines of the annual session of the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
General Assembly in New York in September.

India cancelled the rare meeting between its foreign minister and her Pak counterpart just a day after announcing the talks would take place in New York.

CAIR Executive Director Calls for ‘Murderous' Israeli Leadership to Be ‘Terminated'
[Free Beacon] The executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Los Angeles said in a tweet on Sunday that the "murderous regimes" of both Iran and Israel should be "terminated."

Hussam Ayloush linked to a story about Iranian President Hassan Rouhani calling Israel a "cancerous tumor" in the Middle East and wrote, "Iran's regime calling Israel a ’cancerous tumor' is like the pot calling the kettle black. All the people of that region will be better off once both murderous regimes are terminated."

CAIR is a Muslim advocacy group with ties to extremist and terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Amnesty urges revocation of Israeli cyber firm’s license over Pegasus spyware
[PRESSTV] Amnesia Amnesty International has called on the Israeli ministry of military affairs to suspend the license of a cyber firm which was reportedly in talks with Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. violations."

Amnesia Amnesty International Israel said in a statement that Israeli cyberarms firm NSO Group "has gone out of control."

Sources in the Israeli ministry later said it was strict about granting licenses according to the law, and that they could not discuss the existence of NSO's license for security reasons.

Amnesty Israel rejected the response and said it intended to pursue legal action.

The development came on the heels of a report published by the Israeli English-language Haaretz daily newspaper that NSO representatives offered Pegasus 3 technology to high-profile Saudi officials back in 2017.

The report, citing a complaint filed with the Israeli police by an unnamed European businessman, noted that the Saudi officials included former intelligence chief Prince Turki al-Faisal and Nasser al-Qahtani, who presented himself as the deputy of the current intelligence chief.

"The Pal Authority has been holding US citizen Isaam Akel in prison for 2 months. His suspected "crime"? Selling land to a Jew. Akel’s incarceration is antithetical to the values of the US and to all who advocate the cause of peaceful coexistence. We demand his immediate release," Friedman tweeted.

Hamas: Elite IDF unit in botched raid repeatedly entered Gaza
[Ynet] Paleostinian collaborator allegedly helped Israeli force in mission to plant listening devices in the strip, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, official claims in interview with Hezbollah-affiliated al-Akhbar; the troops entered using IDs that belong to real Gazooks.

The Israeli special forces involved in a recent bungled Gazoo Strip raid had entered the coastal enclave multiple times before the operation, Paleostinian terror group Hamas claimed Wednesday. The operation saw an IDF officer killed and another maimed, and preceded a massive wave of rocket fire on southern Israeli communities. Seven Paleostinians were also killed when the November 11 operation went wrong, and the IDF unit was forced to call in air support to help them flee.

An official from Hamas told a television channel affiliated to the Lebanese-based terror group Hezbollah that listening devices were brought into the Strip by a Gazoo resident collaborating with Israel. The Israeli agent in Gazoo allegedly transported the espionage equipment to the site of a secret underground communications center used for internal communication between different Paleostinian bully boy factions.

The Hamas official claimed the IDF force also installed listening devices near the border, east of Gazoo City, under the cover of works done by one of the Paleostinian communications companies. The official said Hamas's military wing removed these bugs.

According to the Al Akhbar report, the Israeli Special Forces entered the strip through the Erez border crossing using IDs that belong to real residents in the Gazoo Strip, with only the photo replaced. They reportedly entered the strip at different times and not all at once, to avoid arousing suspicion.

The Hamas official said the Paleostinian collaborator provided the force with two cars in Gazoo.

Despite the fact the Israeli Air Force bombed one of the vehicles used by the force, Hamas was apparently able to lay its hands on some of the equipment that was in it, which wasn't damaged.

"The resistance continued its investigation and reached the information about the local collaborators who helped the Israeli force inside the Gazoo Strip, as well as to the money meant for the Israeli force and the collaborators," the Hamas official said. "So far, we can say the resistance has been able to identify over 80 percent of the Israeli force's moves, which led to the exposure of dozens of its targets. The most significant objective the force had was to plant equipment to disrupt the resistance's internal communications."

In the wake of the IDF censor's call on Israeli citizens not to spread photos Hamas purports show the Israeli Special Forces soldiers, the website of Hamas's military wing was blocked in Israel.

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, the pastor had finally been wrestled from the pulpit.
Y'got the wrong guy! he yelled just before Sergeant Malone's billy club landed...

the army announced Tuesday that IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot has appointed Maj. Gen. Nitzan Alon to head an inquiry into the failed Gazoo operation.

Al Arabiya documentary reveals Hezbollah’s drug trade, money laundering links
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] In a deep look into a "thriller" investigation, Al Arabiya’s exclusive documentary "Hezbollah’s Narco Jihad" discusses the involvement of the designated terrorist organization, Hezbollah, in the global drug trade and explains how it uses money laundering to substitute for its fund shortage.

From 2009 to July 2013, an estimated 7,000 people were killed in the Medellin mafia wars in Colombia, as different challengers sought to claim Don Berna’s criminal throne as head of the Oficina de Envigado (the Envigado office), and become the successor to the Medellin Cartel.

Until his death in Medellin in 1993, Pablo Escobar was the unchallenged head of the Medellin Cartel.

A former sicario of the Medellin cartel, who is also said to have been Escobar’s most loyal man, told Al Arabiya in its exclusive documentary that: "The cartel of Medellin was too powerful. It had an aircraft fleet of around 140, it had more than 3,000 hit men, and it had a cruel intelligence structure. They bribed people from the State, operated a lot of intelligence matters. It was a totally criminal organization, with a great deal of money, possessing many weapons and an elaborate infrastructure."

For two years after Escobar’s death, the Cali Cartel was able to continue operating with the same modus operandi, until the leaders, the Rodriguez Orejuela brothers, were captured in 1995.

Then the Colombian underworld became fragmented, and now drug trafficking syndicates are eluding countering forces with new strategies.

The documentary explains that this meant working with the Italian Mafia in Europe, and tapping into the huge Brazilian and Argentinian markets in South America.

It also meant increased coordination between Colombian organized crime that had migrated to the Middle East, and known Hezbollah associates that had been in the Guajira region of Colombia for the past decade.

In October 2008, a joint endeavor by American and Colombian Sherlocks dismantled an international cocaine smuggling and money laundering ring that allegedly directed part of its profits to finance Hezbollah.

As the investigation progressed, the undercover agent got close enough to the cartel to serve as one of its money launderers. The agent laundered some $20 million, enabling the DEA to follow the money and map out much of the cartel’s operations.

The operation broke down before direct terrorism charges were filed.

While some claim the operation ended due to interagency squabbling, many government officials believe that the Obama Administration tamped down the investigation of Hezbollah for fear of jeopardizing the impending nuclear deal with Iran.

Leb was the Middle East’s leading producer of illicit drugs in the 1970s and 1980s, with cultivation taking place mostly in the northern Bekaa Valley, according to United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) figures.

American intelligence analysts believe that for years Hezbollah received as much as $200 million annually from its primary patron, Iran, along with additional aid from Syria.

But that support has diminished, the analysts say, as Iran’s economy buckles under international sanctions over its nuclear program and Syria’s government battles rising popular unrest.

Auditors brought in to scrub the books discovered nearly 200 accounts with links to Hezbollah and their classic signs of money laundering.

"Hezbollah’s Narco Jihad" takes the audience through the details of the organization’s drug trade and money laundering, reaching up to today’s reality stating that the same networks are still active.

United Nations wants Syria to account for war dead, detainees
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria urged the Security Council on Wednesday to press the Syrian government to provide information to families about the fate of those missing or detained during the seven-year war.

Following a closed-door informal meeting with council members, the commission chairman said it was crucial to push the government to give a full account after it began in May to release death notifications.

"The issues of the detainees and the disappeared should not be dealt after peace, but now is the time to consider this," said Paulo Pinheiro, who heads the commission set up to investigate human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
violations in the war.

In May, the military police and army provided for the first time information to government civil registry offices on the dear departed, allowing families to finally learn the fate of their loved ones.

"The state is beginning to put out that information, but little else," said commission member Hanny Megally. "The families have a right to know what happened, where the bodies are, to get information about them."

An international independent body must be given access to all places of detention to confirm who is still alive in detention, he added.

The commission hopes council members including Russia, Syria's ally, can encourage the Damascus government to take steps to address demands from the families of lost or missing loved ones. Syria’s war has killed more than 360,000 people and displaced millions.

UN-led diplomatic efforts to end the war have stalled, but Russia, Iran and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
are spearheading a separate drive to stabilize the country.

Internal ISIS documents sheds light on aid Hamas gave to ISIS in Sinai
[JewishNewsSyndicate] A recently revealed document concerned with religious doctrine penned by an eminent ISIS cleric provides further evidence that the military wing of Hamas has provided significant aid to the ISIS branch in Sinai, Sinai Province.

The 11-page document is a religious opinion penned by the cleric Abu Maram Al-Jazairi, one of the most prominent of ISIS clerics, known for his extremist positions.[2] The date when the document, titled “A Response to the Correspondence between the Brothers in Sinai and the Apostate Hamas,” was composed is unknown, but it is likely that it was written at the height of relations between Hamas and ISIS in Sinai, perhaps sometime during 2015, prior to the crisis between the two organizations in late 2016.

Al-Jazairi enumerates the types of assistance provided by Hamas to ISIS: coordination with Hamas with respect to the transfer of weapons, both to and from [Sinai]; logistic support; financial support; supply of ammunition; and transfer of wounded to Gaza. In short, Al-Jazairi expressed strong reservations about these ties and about receiving assistance from Hamas, although he did rule that receiving weapons from Hamas could be permitted under certain conditions.

For a long time, ISIS in Sinai maintained a thunderous silence where Hamas was concerned, and in that sense continued the approach taken by its previous incarnation, Ansar Bait Al-Maqdis. The ISIS position on Hamas is clear: As far as it is concerned, it is an infidel organization, for several reasons, among other things due to the fact that it did not impose Shari’a law in Gaza and because it participated in the Palestinian Authority elections in 2006. The members of the movement as well, including the operatives in its military arm, are viewed by ISIS as apostates. Naturally, they are not considered to be “original” infidels (kufar asliyun), like Jews, Christians or members of other religions, but as Muslims who are apostates, for they have abandoned Islam (murtadun).

Therefore, according to Al-Jazairi, for ISIS to receive assistance from Hamas is forbidden in principle, since it means being helped by those who have spurned Islam, although as stated, he does permit the acceptance of weapons, under certain conditions. However, with respect to accepting money, logistic support or help with manpower, in his opinion, these are totally forbidden. He stresses that receiving assistance from apostates is worse than receiving assistance from infidels, since their rejection of their religion is considered more serious, for they chose to abandon Islam, and therefore accepting their help might be interpreted as condoning their ways.

Relations between ISIS Sinai and Hamas deteriorated in late 2016, when Hamas gave in to Egyptian pressure and began to reduce its cooperation with ISIS.

Lawfare: US Jews sue Airbnb for delisting rentals at West Bank settlements
Make them live up to their own standards, not to mention the law.
[IsraelTimes] Suit accuses the holiday rental giant of religious discrimination and says its new policy violates US laws

A group of 18 US Jews sued Airbnb in a US Federal Court on Wednesday, accusing the holiday rental giant of religious discrimination after the company delisted accommodations in Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

"Airbnb has made a religion- and nationality-based decision about who can list," Robert Tolchin, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, told Rooters. "It decided in the United States, ’We will not list for Jews in the West Bank.’ It should be equal access for all."

Airbnb’s statement on November 19 announcing the new policy noted that 200 Israeli-owned listings in the West Bank would be removed, after the company had concluded, "They are at the core of the dispute between Israelis and Paleostinians."

The plaintiffs, who said they owned or wished to rent the affected properties, filed the complaint in Delaware, where Airbnb is incorporated, alleging the decision violates US laws against housing discrimination.

The suit accused Airbnb of "redlining" Jewish-owned properties while letting Moslems and Christians rent their homes and said Airbnb was taking sides in the dispute over the West Bank.

"We don’t believe this lawsuit will succeed in court, but we know that people will disagree with our decision and appreciate their perspective," Airbnb said in a statement.

A separate suit was filed in a Jerusalem court on November 22.

Ma’anit Rabinovich of the Kida outpost , who in the past advertised an apartment for rent on Airbnb, filed a request at the Jerusalem District Court for a class action lawsuit against Airbnb, saying the decision to ban listings located in West Bank settlements constitutes "severe, offensive and extremely outrageous discrimination on the basis of place of residence, country of origin and opinion."

The Delaware case differed by claiming that "Airbnb is violating Americans’ rights, and this can’t be argued in an Israeli court under Israeli law," Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, another lawyer for the plaintiffs, told Rooters.

Israel has also looked to mobilize support in the US against the decision. On Tuesday, Israel’s minister in charge of combating boycott efforts against the Jewish state urged US states to take steps against Airbnb.

In a letter to the governors of Illinois, New York, Florida, Missouri, and Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, where Airbnb is based, Gilad Erdan called the announcement an adoption of "the anti-Semitic practices and narrative of the boycott movement."

He charged that the BDS movement "is not interested in peace or a better future for the Paleostinians, but rather in demonizing and discriminating against Israel, the one true democracy, and America’s strongest ally in the Middle East."

And he said the new company policy is "especially disturbing when one understands that it is a policy directed only toward Israel. Such a policy has not been applied by the company to any other country or region involved in a national dispute or conflict.

"This constitutes (one hopes unintentionally) the modern form of an anti-Semitic practice which applies a double standard to Israel in a way that is not expected or demanded of any other country."

He urged the governors to "consider speaking out against the company’s decision, and taking any other relevant steps, including in relation to commercial dealings" between Airbnb and their states.

Erdan’s outreach is likely falling on receptive ears. Laws against state investment in companies that boycott Israel exist in 25 US states.

Erdan’s letter is part of an effort in the Israeli government to develop a coordinated response to the Airbnb decision. An interministerial committee composed of officials from Erdan’s Strategic Affairs Ministry, as well as the ministries of foreign affairs, tourism, justice and economy and the Finance Ministry’s Tax Authority are reportedly working on developing a government-wide response.

An Airbnb official told The Times of Israel on November 21 that the company was evaluating whether to drop its listings in the disputed territory of Western Sahara as well, brushing off Israeli complaints that it was only taking a stand in the Jewish state’s dispute with the Paleostinians while ignoring similar disputes in places like Tibet, Northern Cyprus and Western Sahara.

"In the statement we issued on Monday [November 19], we noted that we have developed a framework for evaluating how we should treat listings in occupied territories around the world. Western Sahara is one example of a place where we will use this framework," the official said.

As of November 21, there were 24 Airbnb listings in Western Sahara.

The Airbnb official clarified that the delisting of Israeli-owned rentals would only be applied to Israeli settlements in the West Bank and not homes in East Jerusalem or the Golan Heights, which Israel officially considers part of the country’s sovereign territory.

The company said the decision to remove the listings came after "considerable time" was spent consulting experts on the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict. Airbnb said that, as an industry leader, it "must consider the impact we have and act responsibly."

The announcement came a day before Human Rights Watch was set to publish a report detailing the company’s operations in Israeli settlements.
