[Breitbart] Members of Congress should be required to place their investments into blind trusts to avoid conflicts of interest, insider trading, and other forms of corruption related to their appropriations of taxpayer funds, said Peter Schweizer, senior contributor to Breitbart News and author of Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite.
Schweizer offered his recommendation on Monday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. The two discussed Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-NC) recent selling of between $628,000 and $1.72 million in stock ahead of coronavirus-related market declines.
Congress’s access to information not made available to the public ‐ via confidential briefings and other means ‐ opens the door to insider trading, noted Schweizer, additionally highlighting Congress’s power to affect markets given its control of government appropriations.
Broad public distrust of Congress arises from people’s knowledge of representatives and senators making self-interested funding decisions that benefit their portfolios and financial interests.
"Here’s the problem," said Schweizer, addressing proposed relief funds for airline companies and other industries particularly damaged by the coronavirus pandemic, "members of Congress can trade stock in Delta Airlines or Boeing while they’re working on this bailout ‐ while they’re voting on it ‐ and it just throws the integrity of the whole process into question."
Schweizer added, "Members of Congress, is it worth it to have the American people distrust you so you can make some extra side money by insider trading on the market? Because that’s really ultimately what this is about. There’s no legitimate explanation or reason that they can give for them not to be required to put their assets in a blind trust." Violators will be tried and if convicted, executed within 24 hours.

How about changing the law that allows congresscritters to convert their reelection funds into personal funds when they retire from office. Instead all remaining funds go to the Treasury. Nah, probably will just result in a lot more family members on the reelection staffs.

Here's a better idea - require all of them to invest solely in interest bearing savings accounts and Treasury bills. At least that would put a dent in the endless money printing, when they're now on the wrong end of that 'policy'.

It might make it more difficult. It ought to be a condition of serving the country to not engage in stock buying or selling during your term in office. As said above, they will probably finds ways around it. Public flogging and or Pilgrim's stockade might be a deterrent.

I would ban all private company ownership, whether through business or stock if you are in office. You are helping write the laws and regulations for these things and we don't need your personal ownership to get a better deal than Joe McSnuffy down the street.

The smut-streaming giant has donated 50,000 surgical masks to New York City-area workers on the front lines of the pandemic while opening up its massive porn library for free.
The donations ‐ part of Pornhub’s "COVID-19 relief efforts" announced Tuesday ‐ come as medical workers in the Big Apple and elsewhere confront a shortage of protective gear as the deadly virus threatens to overwhelm health care providers.
"These masks are mission critical in the fight against the COVID pandemic," said Joe Calderone, senior vice president at Long Island’s Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital, which got 20,000 masks from Pornhub. "They will help keep our nurses, physicians and support staff safe from infection while caring for those who are stricken with the disease."
Pornhub said it delivered 15,000 masks to FDNY EMS Local 2507, the labor union for New York City paramedics, emergency medical technicians and fire inspectors. The remaining 15,000 went to Uniformed Firefighters Association Local 94, which represents FDNY firefighters, Pornhub said.
The company added that it’s donating 50,000 euros (about $54,000) to help organizations in Germany, Italia and Spain buy additional masks and medical equipment.
Pornhub said it will also let models keep all of the proceeds from videos they sell in April after a processing fee is deducted. That means models will pocket 85 percent of their sales from Pornhub and its sister site Modelhub when they would typically keep just 65 percent.

As part of this plan, Priorities USA has said it intends to spend upward of $150 million against Trump in states like Michigan and Wisconsin. The PAC has hauled in $27 million since January 2019. Its largest donor has been billionaire hedge fund manager Donald Sussman, who has given the group $8 million this cycle. Soros is now the group’s second-largest donor at $5 million.

One not-small problem: the election outcome in every one of the targeted states depends on enthusiasm and turnout from the Dems' base-- in the Midwest especially that includes white non college-educated workers, and African-Americans everywhere.
They won't turn out merely because of Two Minutes Hate vs OrangeMan. They also have to vote for someone, which is why Obama easily defeated Romney in 2012. But no one is going to vote for Biden if the man's mind deteriorates further, as it gives every sign of doing.

[RealClearPolitics] Coronavirus is causing working-age people to worry about missing paychecks, caring for kids home from school, stockpiling groceries and canceling plans. But people in their 50s, 60s or older have bigger worries. Many are lying awake wondering if this is how they're going to die.
At its most severe, coronavirus attacks the lungs, making it impossible to breathe without a ventilator. Landing in the hospital on a ventilator is bad. But worse is being told you can't have one. After learning that the state's stockpile of medical equipment had 16,000 fewer ventilators than New Yorkers would need in a severe pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo came to a fork in the road in 2015. He could have chosen to buy more ventilators. Instead, he asked his health commissioner, Howard Zucker to assemble a task force and draft rules for rationing the ventilators they already had.
That task force came up with rules that will be imposed when ventilators run short. Patients assigned a red code will have the highest access, and other patients will be assigned green, yellow or blue (the worst) depending on a "triage officer's" decision. In truth, a death officer. Let's not sugarcoat it. It won't be up to your own doctor.

While Sens. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) sought on Friday to explain sales of stock made at a time when they were reassuring the public about the coronavirus threat, they weren't the only elected officials to buy and sell stocks at key moments in the unfolding crisis.
A POLITICO review of stock sales and purchases reported by members of Congress and senior aides found that while none had engaged in sales of the magnitude of Burr and Loeffler, several had traded shares at times or in industries that bore a relationship to the coronavirus threat.
Previously unreported lawmakers who sold assets in the weeks leading up to the market crash include Rep. Susan Davis (D-Calif.), who unloaded thousands of dollars of stock in Alaska Air and Royal Caribbean cruises. A senior aide to Sen. Mitch McConnell made a mid-January purchase of Moderna, Inc., a biotechnology company that had four days earlier announced it would begin developing a coronavirus vaccine. And an aide to Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, sold off stock in companies including Delta Airlines in late January and later bought stock in Clorox, Inc., which makes bleach and sanitary wipes.
The trades show that -- as much of the public was blindsided by both the pandemic and the economic meltdown over the last two weeks -- a number of lawmakers, aides and their brokers helping manage their portfolios adjusted their investments. Lawmakers in both chambers were being briefed via both classified and non-classified meetings about the coronavirus in late January and February, giving people on Capitol Hill a closer look at how the coming pandemic might shape their lives and finances that much of the country was lacking.
"The reality is that if you work on the Hill, or you work in government, you have access to information that the public doesn't have or, if they have it, they can't always see the signal through the noise," said Meredith McGehee, executive director of the watchdog group Issue One. "If you're on the HELP Committee, you're going to grasp threats much faster than the general public. You see things much more clearly."

Having tried and failed in the first half of this to lard up the coronavirus relief bill with extraneous goodies and intrusive regulations to please her rabidly progressive constituency, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has decided to take her bat and ball and go home for the day.
Pelosi and the House got in at 10am this morning and left at 10:02am.
They will likely not be voting on the Senate Bill today.
What does that mean?
It means Pelosi is withholding aid from Americans for another day!
What an absolutely horrible person.
We're in a situation where every day, every hour counts. Every day that passes without a paycheck or unemployment relief is a day untold numbers of families grow closer to losing their homes. Every hour that money doesn't go out to manufacturers is another hour hospitals have to wait for masks and ventilators. Every hour some sick New Yorker has to wait for another hospital bed. Every dinner out postponed, every canceled event, every missed business opportunity is another step closer to economic collapse.
It doesn't have to be this way. Congress knows what to do: Pass a clean bill and get it on the President's desk. Pronto.
Details are thin, but here's what we have:
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi signaled Wednesday she may support a bipartisan Coronavirus relief bill making its way through the United States; saying the legislation meets the "needs of the American people."
"America is facing a grave health crisis with a serious impact on our economy. I salute the strong leadership of Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats," she said Wednesday. "I especially thank our House Democratic Committee Chairmen, who worked hard to move the Republican proposal from corporations-focused to workers-first and who will now review the legislative text of this agreement with our Caucus."
"This bipartisan legislation takes us a long way down the road in meeting the needs of the American people," Pelosi said.
"Bipartisan" at least in the sense that Senators of both parties rejected her attempt to turn a relief package into a Democrat Christmas list.
Pelosi's statement came barely any time at all after she dismissed the House this morning, so we might have just witnessed the fastest fold in Congressional history. Or maybe she's figured out how to get some of her goodies back into the bill. We might not know which until Pelosi deigns to hold a vote, and meanwhile, the clock is ticking for millions of American families and tens of thousands of America's infected.
When hours count, Congress is just one corrupt Speaker away from doing the wrong thing.

Boynie also says he'll hold this up until communist goals are recognized. We are at the point where a single legislator's or judge's ego can create this sort of blockage. Lots of changes to the law must be made.
