[Jpost] "We will continue to closely work together to stop the financing of terrorist organizations like Hezbollah," says US.
A team of US government officials traveled on Wednesday to Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... amid intense international coverage of the monarchy’s alleged role in financing the Lebanese terrorist movement, Hezbollah.

That damned military base is a bloody albatross hung on the USA's neck. The US military will fight for Qatar, and has fought for the al=Thani family, despite its long association with the Muslim Brotherhood and international terrorism.

I don't see what incentive the police have to get involved against the rioters, but they have to know the DA will be rabid to prosecute any "white-supremacist vigilantes," and you know there are some cops who would like to make that pinch.

Until We Reckon: Violence, Mass Incarceration, and a Road to Repair by Danielle Sered. This is one of the best books on restorative justice that I’ve come across, about doing things differently in the criminal justice system. Danielle Sered writes beautifully about a system that centers what a victim truly needs to heal, and what holding someone accountable for actions that harm others can look like. Her work shows that we can get better public safety outcomes and serve victims of crime better by moving away from an overly punitive paradigm, and incorporating restorative practices and philosophy into our criminal justice system.

His predecessor, Rod Underhill, retired about six months before the end of his term, but the fact is that Multinomah County voted Schmidt in, and he would doing what he's doing sooner or later.

At least three people on Wednesday were killed during clashes with police in the Indian city of Bengaluru overnight over an anti-Islam Facebook post that sparked protests in which a police station was attacked, and a politician’s house.https://t.co/YL5BC4P22M
Unable to quell protesters using batons and tear gas, besieged officers opened fire as they risked being overpowered during the violent mostly peaceful unrest in a Moslem-dominated neighborhood, the southern city’s police chief told Rooters on Wednesday.
A police official said an emergency law prohibiting gatherings had been imposed in Bengaluru, a city of 12 million people best known as India’s Silicon Valley.
For some reason, here in the West we call the city Bangalore.

Trump isn't afraid to abandon ideas or policies that aren't valid or to get a better deal. He ditched the "deal of the century", which was kinda crummy to get real results from established nations.
Good on everyone involved to agree to this.
I also want to thank Iran for helping this come to pass with their aggression toward the UAE and Saudi.

Trump brings about peace between Israel and UAE, (and could cure CV-19 and cancer) and the MSM yawns in a backdrop of crickets. Meanwhile, the MSM media drools all over themselves while looking stupid and fawning over the Biden/Harris less than mediocre ticket.
[APNEWS] President Donald Trump ...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...... said on Thursday that the United Arab Emirates and Israel have agreed to establish full diplomatic ties as part of a deal to halt the annexation of occupied land sought by the Paleostinians for their future state.
The announcement makes the UAE the first Gulf Arab state to do so and only the third Arab nation to have active diplomatic ties to Israel.
Trump tweeted a statement from the countries, acknowledging the deal. He then told news hounds in the Oval Office that it was "a truly historic moment."
"Now that the ice has been broken I expect more Arab and Moslem countries will follow the United Arab Emirates," he said.
The recognition grants a rare diplomatic win to Trump ahead of the November election as his efforts to see an end to the war in Afghanistan have yet to come to fruition while efforts to bring peace between Israel and the Paleostinians have made no headway.
For Israel, the announcement comes after years of boasting by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that his government enjoys closer ties to Arab nations than publicly acknowledged. Netanyahu has sought to build settlements on lands sought by the Paleostinians and embraced a Trump proposal that would allow him to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank while granting Paleostinians limited autonomy in other areas.
For the UAE, home to skyscraper-studded Dubai and the rolling, oil-rich sand dunes of Abu Dhabi, it further burnishes its international campaign to be seen as a beacon of tolerance in the Middle East despite being governed by autocratic rulers. It also puts the UAE out first in a regional recognition race among neighboring Gulf Arab states.
And for the Paleostinians, who long have relied on Arab backing in their struggle for independence, the announcement marked both a win and setback. While Thursday’s deal halts Israeli annexation plans, the Paleostinians have repeatedly urged Arab governments not to normalize relations with Israel until a peace agreement establishing an independent Paleostinian state is reached.
A joint statement from the U.S., the UAE and Israel was issued immediately after Trump’s tweet. It said delegations would meet in the coming weeks to sign deals on direct flights, security, telecommunications, energy, tourism and health care. The two countries also will partner on fighting the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... pandemic.
"Opening direct ties between two of the Middle East’s most dynamic societies and advanced economics will transform the region by spurring economic growth, enhancing technological innovation and forging closer people-to-people relations," said the statement by Trump, Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the day-to-day ruler of the UAE. It said the leaders had a three-way call discussing the deal.

Odd that the AyPee calls it a 'rare diplomatic win to Trump'. They must not be paying attention.

I'd like to hear from someone here on the 'Burg who knows more about the situation than me, why this deal with the UAE is so important. I've not thought of them as a huge player, but...?

They're not a huge player. But they're not the smallest player, either, and hopefully this will lead others to the table. Bringing even one or two more Arab countries to full recognition of Israel will being to completely, finally, destroy the Palestinian "cause".
[IsraelTimes] Support of Israel by Biden’s choice for veep considered less important than getting rid of incumbent.
Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Sen. Kámala Harris Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's former mistress, now a senatrix from California and former 2020 Dem presidential hopeful... , the chosen running mate of Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...Failed seeker of the Democratic presidential nomination on multiple occasions, vice president under Barack Obama, giving it a last try in his dotage for 2020... , the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate, has been a staunch supporter of Israel.
This might disappoint the Paleostinian leadership, which hopes that Biden, if elected, will change American policies favoring Israel. Yet when reached by The Media Line, several high-ranking Paleostinian officials declined to comment on Harris’s candidacy.
Prof. Dalal Iriqat, an expert on diplomacy, conflict resolution and strategic planning at the Arab American University in Jenin and a columnist at the al-Quds newspaper, believes it understandable that Paleostinians evaluate matters based on their interests.
"We shouldn’t be upset by the decision or judge it now, as our top priority is to get rid of [President Donald] Trump," she told The Media Line. "Therefore, we have to accept any alternative."
Iriqat says that in terms of American politics and increasing Biden’s chances of winning, his choice was wise and strategic "given the Black Lives Matter campaign going on in the US, and other movements."
She stresses that for Paleostinians, Trump is the main issue. Since December 2017, when he announced US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the Paleostinian leadership has been boycotting his administration.
"I think we need Trump to go, as there won’t be anyone worse than him," she said.

Like their opinion matters, or anyone cares.
I do. They're a great contrarian indicator. Especially when grouped together.
[Ynet] The latest punitive measure comes shortly after IDF strikes several Hamas targets in Gaza after dozens of fires had been started in Israeli communities bordering the Strip for 7th day in a row; Hamas says cutting of fuel is 'grave act of aggression'. [Jpost] Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... officials may be invited to Cairo
Egypt has demanded that Hamas and other Paleostinian groups stop the incendiary balloon attacks on Israel, Paleostinian sources said Wednesday.

[Rudaw] Rivers and forests line the road south from Mariwan, in the Hawraman region of western Iran, to Dizli, a village and tourist spot whose streets are embellished with tea parlours.
Upon arrival, I spot a brand new, three-story house stand pride of place. Two sons from its family moved to the United Kingdom four years ago, my driver, himself from Dizli, told me.
"This family was once destitute, but their situation has improved thanks to the sons who send them money."
