[Medium.com] Stephen F Cohen, the renowned American scholar on Russia and leading authority on US-Russian relations, has died of lung cancer at the age of 81.
As one of the precious few western voices of sanity on the subject of Russia while everyone else has been frantically flushing their brains down the toilet, this is a real loss. I myself have cited Cohen’s expert analysis many times in my own work, and his perspective has played a formative role in my understanding of what’s really going on with the monolithic cross-partisan manufacturing of consent for increased western aggressions against Moscow.
In a world that is increasingly confusing and awash with propaganda, Cohen’s death is a blow to humanity’s desperate quest for clarity and understanding.

A great loss. Stephen F Cohen was one of the few honest and brave men left in academe.
Cohen was right. The new Russophobia is a clear and present danger that is just as foolish and destructive to our interests as the elites' sucking up to China and the CCP.
Putting our Russia policy on a sane footing is yet another reason that it's inperative we re-elect this president.
[CCNS] A blueprint for the laboratory construction of a highly infectious and deadly coronavirus has long existed. It was only a matter of time before a scientific group lacking moral constraints would attempt it, initiating a global catastrophe and paving the way for something even more dangerous in the future, unless action is taken now to prevent it.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese Communist Party, supported by some Western scientists and a politically-motivated media have desperately tried to convince the world that SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible, originated as a bat beta-coronavirus, which underwent a natural mutation process and was then acquired by humans after exposure to infected animals.

[NYPOST] The modern crop of American leftist revolutionaries are a curious bunch. These are the children of the high bourgeoisie, often women, "cosplaying" the revolution until they get arrested and suddenly playtime turns into hard time.
For a growing list of Chick Guevaras, real legal consequences are following from what they thought would be a frolicking freedom fight — and how they react reveals much about their privilege.
Take Kathryn Patterson, arrested during the troubles in Lancaster, Pa., last week. She is a sorority sister at a fancy private college. Wealthy parents. A very charmed life. That is, until the white guilt kicked in, and it was time to allegedly participate in violent mostly peaceful riots. Patterson’s case is similar to that of the Upper East Side’s own Clara Kraebber, another rich debutante type taking up class struggle.

Lots of girls like bad boys. Hasn't changed much in eons. Now instead of getting that rush through association, they're playing the game. Guess they're following a trend.
It's Kurt.
[Townhall] If our media was not a bubbling cauldron of dung, Grandpa Badfinger would be getting hit with real questions instead of being lobbed inane softballs like "Some people say Trump is literally Hitler, while others say he is only figuratively Hitler — what kind of Hitler do you think Trump is?"
But our media is a bubbling cauldron of dung, and these hacks are never going to ask that crusty crustacean the kind of questions the American people want — and need — to hear answered. And preferably without them having been pre-screened and typed into a teleprompter.
We deserve some answers about his policies too, or rather the policies of the people pulling his strings.
"Trump whacked Soleimani and 86’ed the Iran Deal, but if you had your way Soleimani would still be kickin’ it old school and the mullahs would be getting FedEx’d pallets of Benjamins. Under you and Obama, the Middle East peace process was less effective than a Bulwark staffer on his wedding night while Trump is closing the deal. Doesn’t he deserve credit for doing what you helped botch?"
Like our entire garbage foreign policy establishment, Biden bought into the idea that if only the Israelis abased themselves to the Palestinian terrorists enough, everything would be cool. Someone ought to ask how he could have been so wrong. Good luck with that. And then there's RUSSIA! RUSSIA! RUSSIA! Do read the whole thing.

Whatever you ask him, the answers depend on 3 things: are you asking 2006 Joe, or 2016 Joe or 2020 Joe? What is he actually trying to say, is he even coherent? And last, but most importantly, what are Joe's teleprompter messages telling him to say.
[Babylon Bee]Trump has announced his pick for Supreme Court justice: Joe Biden. By nominating Biden, Trump has forced the Dems' hands, making them believe the sexual assault claims and allegations of inappropriate, creepy behavior against the former vice president.
The "4D chess" move forced Dems to immediately accuse Joe Biden of sexual assault and reverse their position on the current claims against him.
"We now believe Tara Reade," said a somber Kamala Harris, "and we will do everything in our power to destroy this man's life."
In addition to believing current claims against Joe Biden, Democrats also immediately dug up 417 new accusers against Joe Biden. He has been accused of participating in wild frat parties, drunken keggers, and something called the "Devil's Triangle," which Dems say is either a Satanic ritual or code for a sexual practice or "maybe both."
"It's clear this man is dangerous and cannot be trusted," said Nancy Pelosi. "We call on the Senate to turn down his nomination and run him out of public life."
Biden released a statement, saying, "I just want to go home and see my grandkids again." His mic was cut off and he was pulled off the stage with a shepherd's crook.

[The National Interest via Insty] U.S. policymakers and legislators may not have to "choose sides" anymore in a fading Arab-Israeli conflict.
Old Middle East experts probably recall a time not so long ago when the debate over U.S. policy towards the region was dominated by one narrative: The "pro-Arab" crowd versus the "pro-Israel" community. This zero-sum-game forced Americans, the White House and Congress to choose sides.
Even during that period of time, embracing a binary approach to understand U.S. Middle East policy as an outcome of a clash between supporters of Israel and friends of the Arabs, or between the Zionists and the Arabists, did not make sense.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
