[ZH] The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, currently being criticised for imposing another lockdown based on questionable data, has met with Bill Gates to discuss implementing a global "health security" program using Britain's G7 presidency to speed up the process.
Johnson met with Gates along with the CEOs of ten of the world's biggest pharmaceutical companies to foment plans to roll out the vaccine for coronavirus.
Every CEO agreed to commit to providing "fair" access across the globe to the vaccine when it is ready.
Johnson said that the opportunity the G7 presidency in 2021 affords Britain will allow the nation to spearhead a global health plan developed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in partnership with the Wellcome Trust.
The plan was unveiled by Gates at the UN in September, where he called for overhauling big pharma's capacity to manufacture "vaccines and treatments."
Johnson hailed the effort as a "new era of collaboration for problem solving," and "pandemic preparedness," adding that it will be a "truly global endeavor".
The Prime Minister said that world leaders should have heeded Gates' warnings years ago, and must now work with his Foundation to prevent "something like [Covid-19] ever happening again.
"Gates noted that "the world needs a comprehensive strategy; a coherent approach to financing and manufacturing billions of doses of vaccines, tests and drugs; and a network to monitor for new threats."
"We're fortunate that Prime Minister Johnson has come up with a smart plan to do just that in the UK, and our foundation will continue to work with his government and others to make it a reality," Gates added.
The British government is preparing to roll out the coronavirus vaccine on a level never before seen, drafting in the army to man vaccination centres at arenas, sports halls, and shopping malls.
It has been described as "the biggest logistical effort since the Second World War."
Gates has previously declared that the world won't return to normal until "a lot of people" take a second "super-effective" coronavirus vaccine that could be years away.
Last week, we Gates has forcast that a "best case scenario" for a return to normal would be the end of 2021, a date that was qualified with the proviso, "We still don't know whether these vaccines will succeed."
The billionaire has also suggested that governments need to ‘brainstorm' ways of "reducing vaccine hesitancy," in the face of anti-vaccine "conspiracy theories". Billy can't even get a handle on computer viruses running rampant in microsoft applications, and now he's an 'expert' in real viruses. Uh, yeah, got it.
[Dhaka Tribune] A ten-year-old boy was raped reportedly by his madrasa teacher in Narayanganj.
Police have arrested the accused after a case was filed over the incident with the Fatullah cop shoppe on Thursday.
The accused, Kausar Ahmmed, 28, a teacher of Sunnatia Al Arabia Madrasa in Fatullah, reportedly raped the boy inside an empty classroom on Wednesday.
Later, the rape survivor, after returning home, informed his family about what had happened.
When the victim’s family along with the locals confronted Kausar, he confessed to his crimes.
The accused however claimed that he had been possessed by a demon while carrying out the heinous act. Well, that should get him off...
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Fatullah cop shoppe said: "The accused has confessed to his crimes. He has been sent to jail through the court."

[DAILYTIMES.PK] A man named Rafiq Malak and two others raped a woman and her four-year-old daughter in Kashmore. Rafiq Malak has been arrested while his accomplices are on the lam.
The accused men dodged a woman from Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... into getting her a job of Rs. 40000 in Kashmore. They met her at a hospital in Karachi, and took her to Kashmore where they detained her along with her daughter, and gang-raped her at Malak’s house.
The woman was later released, but the suspects did not let her daughter go, and told her to bring another woman they saw with her at the hospital in exchange for her daughter.
Despite their threat of killing the daughter, the woman courageously reached out to the Kashmore police. A raid was conducted at Malak’s residence, where three men including Rafique Malak were found.
Upon seeing the cops, the three men tried to flee by jumping over a wall. Rafique Malak injured himself and could not run, while the other two succeeded in escaping.
The child was recovered and Rafique Malak admitted raping her as he was angry at her mother.
Marks of violence were evident on the child’s body. Both the woman and her daughter were taken to the
Taluka Hospital Kashmore. The child, due to her critical condition, was later shifted to a hospital in Larkana. A medical examination om Wednesday confirmed the gang-rape.
A case under multiple sections (including rape, wrongful confinement, cheating and dishonesty) of the Pakistain Penal Code has been filed against Malak on behalf of the State, at Kashmore cop shoppe.
The Kashmore police is making efforts to find the two escapees, while a court in Larkana has sent Malak into police custody for three days on a judicial remand.
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail condemned the sickening incident and said that it will be ensured that the criminals get strictest punishment. He further said that he is trying that the child gets best medical treatment and post-trauma care.
